His head roars...RESIST! His heart screams... SURRENDER!
Seth Durant and his alpha brothers don’t have a lot of incentive to tell anyone they’re wolf shifters. As unregistered shifters living in secrecy, their very existence is technically illegal. Keeping that secret at all costs has been the number one rule the Durant brothers have lived by for nearly their entire lives.
As soon as he sees the beautiful, goofy, messy former Olympian, straight-laced Seth knows he’s met someone who just might change his life forever. Determined to get closer to Sarah while also determined to keep his family’s secret, Seth has to balance the life of being a human man with the life of being a wolf shifter in an inhospitable world.
Sarah, as drawn to Seth as he is to her, can’t understand why the kind, generous hottie next door is so secretive. She’s never known someone to be so desperate to know her while also throwing up so many roadblocks. With a complicated family history of her own, Sarah has to decide whether Seth is worth all the secrets. And when his secret is blown, she has to decide if she’ll be able to live outside the law with the love of her life.

This is one of those books where 30(+)-year-old man lusting after an 18-year-old girl. Even though he understands it's not ok, still this is not a book I want to continue reading.
This was so boring, y'all. I picked this up wanting a good shifter mate with an unsuspecting human book. Although I like the two main characters, the book kept straying to other boring storylines. Then, the main storyline lost my intrested as well. I've got to stop buying these story bundles. They all seem to disappoint me.
This was pretty good. Fun shifter story with serious undertones.
The world building in this includes persecution of shifters so everyone knows they exist, but no one knows who among their neighbors might be one. But if you get found out, the government puts you in a concentration camp. So. Kinda dark world building.
But the relationship is fairly light for the most part. Seth is a bougie interpretation of a lumberjack and likes order and taking care of people. He’s got a great family including a twin brother and adopted brother and mother.
He immediately is obsessed with taking care of the heroine and making her life better, including bringing her food and making her home cozy (furniture, painting, lawn care). He holds himself back from a romantic relationship with her because he doesn’t want to endanger her by making her know he’s a shifter. That negative motivation was a bit irritating, especially since his childhood friends knew he’s a shifter and that wasn’t a big deal.
Sarah has an interesting backstory and I’m hoping we get to see more of her story play out in future books. It’s sort of fascinating.
No OM for her or OW for him. Tho their past sexual histories are brought up several times. I would rather never hear that they’ve been with other people, personally so that was a bit off putting.
It was engaging and I enjoyed the male narrator. I will definitely be listening to the entire series.
This can be purchased with one credit from audible as part of a 6-book set. Which is nice.
This is a wonderful, intriguing wolf shifter romance and it was a pleasure to read. The plot is quite suspenseful and well-written with some unexpected incidents. The characters are well-developed with unique personalities, and reacted with realistic emotional feeling to the situations they find themselves in. It is about: a world that discriminates against shifters and often passes a death sentence on them. One family of wolf shifters (Seth Durant & his brother) is unregistered and lives in secrecy, then Seth meets a beautiful woman (Sarah) who also has family issues of her own. They get involved with each other but then Seth’s secret is unintentionally revealed and Sarah will have to make a choice. There is: wolf shifters, humans, vigilante groups, a controlling father, twists & turns, intrigue, suspense, action, danger, enemies, threats, secrets, attractions, hope, discrimination, disgust, family issues, hunters, guns blazing, fear, injuries, meetings, confrontations, verbal conflict, shifting, discovery, physical conflict, worry, verbal banter, happiness, love & some steam.
This is a different shifter book than others I have read. Took me a while to finish it cause I just couldn't get into it. Wolf shifters hiding in plain site since those that are identified are put into camps or something like that cause humans are afraid of them.
🌿Can Seth ever expose his true self to his hot new neighbor?!🏠🏡 November 26, 2018 Format: Kindle Edition 👍4.5 🌟stars🐺 Selena Scott has come up with a new series featuring hunky shifter brothers, romance, passion, and an ominous element threatening to destroy their lives. I loved her Secret Shifters of Spokane series in this vein, where the brothers were Eastern European 🐻shifters hiding in the forests of Washington State and the villains were cruel scientists. In this one, government and vigilantes are both boxing the shifter brothers into a tense, hidden life.
This first volume in the Forbidden Shifters series is a great start, with a solid introduction to the varying personalities of the brothers, their adoptive mother, the women in their circle, and the prejudice and threats they face.
Wolf shifter Seth and his newly-arrived neighbor, Olympic medalist Sarah, are the chief protagonists in this story and they sizzle, with some very extended intimate moments in the latter part of the book. Seth was an energetic sweetie, always on the move, taking care of others and putting his own interests last. Though he is a bit obsessively organized and neat, he was also my favorite character. The way he takes Sarah under his wing despite her indifference and occasional resistance -- cute and priceless! Sarah seemed a bit Bolshie and self-contained, but as her backstory is revealed, it made sense.
There's plenty of action as the brothers fight to control their shifts and the threat of public exposure intensifies. But the central focus is the building romantic tension. I liked the plot, the characters and the romance, though I could have been happy with less extended bedroom scenes. I am looking forward to the series continuation.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the story; this is my voluntary and honest review.
Sarah, a former olympian, moves in down the street from Seth, a neat freak, landscaper, wolf shifter and she quickly becomes all he can think about. Being a shifter living in society as a normal person is illegal and all shifters are supposed to be registered with the government and living in camps, but Seth and his brothers hide their true nature. His secret means he can never have her, but his heart demands her. Seth must reconcile these two parts of himself to decide if he can be with Sarah, or if he must leave her forever.
Selena Scott set the scene for a fantastic small-town romance with a paranormal twist, but I don't feel like the book met its full potential. The character development felt rushed in some places and drawn out in others such that neither of the characters seemed like suitable partners for anyone at all. I liked Sarah more than Seth, but she was a traumatized girl with an airport terminal's worth of emotional baggage that was only discussed for a couple of pages and went from "I don't want his attention" to "it doesn't matter he doesn't want to date me, I'm going to figure out how to make him" in what seemed to be a couple of chapters. On the other hand, it felt like we saw Seth AGONIZE over whether or not he could love Sarah for chapters on end. This led to a weird relationship dynamic where they seemingly got together out of nowhere.
That being said, I really appreciated the humor that Rafe brought to the story and I really liked her take on the shifter trope. I had never read a book about prosecuted/illegal shifters before and I thought it was a cool new spin on the timeless werewolf-human relationship. I also enjoyed the shifting perspectives during the story, which allowed the reader to experience situations from both Seth and Sarah's points of view.
A Mate For Seth is a paranormal age-gap, forbidden romance, and a brilliant start to a new wolf-shifter romance. The premised is super interesting; I was hooked right from the start. The plot is fully developed, jam-packed with suspense, action, secrets, enemies, passion, and with enough unexpected twists and turns to keep you guessing. The characters are appealing with distinct and diverse personalities and genuine depth to their emotions. The series (Forbidden Shifters) follows the three brothers, Seth, Raphael, and Jackson. They have lived amongst humans, unregistered and with no one to guide and teach them the wolf-shifter ways. With no pack, they've felt isolated and lonely and had to deal with prejudice and fear. This instalment was about Seth meeting Sarah and his true self unintentionally being revealed. Their connection is undeniable, and the relationship brings its own set of dramas and suspense to the brother's lives. I really enjoyed Seth's story; he is super protective, and Sarah is loyal in return. Their journey is well-written, entertaining, engaging, and exciting with fun banter.
Craig A. Hart's narration is outstanding. He slipped into the characters, portrayed their unique personalities, and bringing them to life. It was so easy to lose myself in Forbidden Shifter's world, and I can't wait for the next book in the series. I'm definitely recommending this audiobook to paranormal shifter romance enthusiasts.
This was a slow slog. It takes forever for Seth and Sarah to actually get together and she does not find out about his true self until the last chapter
This also has a different setup for a shifter book and was not really what i was looking for. I usually think of shifter stories as either no one in the world knows about them and they live in their own little bubble out side of normal civilzation, or the whole world is shifter. this was, the world knows about shifters and hates them, trying to do concentration camps/hunting parties are out for them. Also, this is the first time I've read where the majority of shifters can't control their shift and are bound by the moon. Again not what I was wanting from a shifter book, but since I got the whole set for sale on audible I'll just go with it.
As for Seth and Sarah, it took a while for me to like them, probably b/c of the world development. I really liked Elizabeth (their mother) and the one that joins them. It might have also been the POV, third person is not my fave, and the POV jumps not just between Sarah and Seth, but his family as well, so it took a bit to follow
The ending felt rushed since, she only just found out what he was and then bam get married. Still wondering about her father, the hunters and that group, and all the rest, so here's hoping we get just as much of them in the next books as we got of the others in this book
I liked the first book in the series alright. Felt like a 3.5 so I rounded up, I could pick it apart but bottom line was it was a fun listen during my long commute and there were plenty of great moments that made me smile.
Multiple point of view, and not just our main characters Seth and Sarah, which made it feel a bit clunky at times if that makes sense. Like if each brother is going to have their own book I don’t want them butting in so to speak. 😅
I was hoping for a slutty paranormal romance lol, but there was actually some really sweet moments for our found family too. It’s a modern setting where shifters are registered by the government, rounded up, and put into camps. The guys are all adopted, and the only shifters they know are each other. That made me so sad! A big theme of the book is that they are unregistered, and how dangerous it is for any of them to get close to others. This is especially true when a group of people in town form a shifter hunting vigilante group.
There’s a lot left unanswered by the end of this book, so I might carry on to the next one since I have the audiobook as a bundled series anyway.
A good start for this series. There are 3 shifter brothers that have been adopted by a human; Seth, his twin brother Raphael, and Jackson. While brought up with plenty of love, being a human, their mother couldn’t teach them about managing their shifts and how to manage both their human and wolf selves. So their beholden to shifting automatically at the full moon. And cannot keep their humanity while in wolf form. Due to this, they have resigned themselves to a very lonely existence. They can never tell anyone who they really are, so they can never allow themselves to get close to another person.
Seth has a new neighbor move in across the street, and he develops strong feelings for her. He fights their mutual attraction, because he believes that can’t go anywhere. . . Or can it?
I love this series so far. The author does a good job getting into the heads of all 3 brothers in this book, so you can see the setup for their own individual stories to come. I’d highly recommend this series to any fan of PNR books.
In this world, the law requires shifter to be registered
Seth, his twin brother and his older adopted brother are all wolf shifters. In this world shifters are locked away in concentration camps. They are trapped there and experimented on. Luckily all three were adopted by a loving woman who knew what they were but lived and protected them their whole life away from the camps. No one except the four of them and two sisters know what they really are. Sarah moves to town and is Seth's neighbor. He meets her and is obsessed with her. He realizes that he wants to be close to her but because of what he is, he is conflicted about what to do. Join in reading about what happens and what the consequences are when shifter hunters come in to town. I loved this story. I encourage you to try it for yourself.
Loved this book about Seth and his brothers who are all wolf shifters and a girl Sarah comes into his life unexpected. Seth always thought he would live his life alone as no one knew him or his brothers are shifters or if they did they would have to register and be put in shifter camps. Seth loves helping people and first time he meets Sarah she has just moved in boxes in her front room unpacked things looking messy and he doesn’t like it he gets her agreeing for him to sort things out. Sarah is an ex Olympian who has left home and her father who is controlling her. Sarah likes Seth and doesn’t understand why he keeps pulling back from her Seth doesn’t want to hurt her a turn of events Sarah ends up seeing him as a wolf and loves him all the same this is not her first time seeing a shifter. Seth can finally have what he’s looking for love.

Now years later humans are out to hurt anything shifter now more than ever she has to protect her sons. Seth his twin Raphael, and their adopted brother Jackson are loved by their community but if everyone knew they were shifters that would change. When her new neighbor comes over and offers to help with well everything she can't believe he is for real. Hunted by human rights, activist can the brothers find their true love. It's Seth's turn. Can Sarah save him from HIMSELF? This was a great first book. Looking forward to reading the brother's
Seth & Sarah: Seth and his brothers are wolf shifters raised by their adopted, human mother. When a new neighbor arrives across the street Seth and his OCD behaviors sends him over to "help" unpack. Sarah is an Olympian who was mistreated by her father. Now on her own she moves to another town. When her pushy neighbor comes offering to unpack her boxes and paint her walls. This story was a little much for me because who in the world would let some random person just come and start making changes in their home. Sarah and Seth are attracted to each other but Seth is very wishy-washy with his feelings because he feels that he's a monster. There are humans hunting shifters when they're in their animal form and that puts Seth and his family in danger. I didn't like how it ended. It was kind of blah. Hopefully the series gets better.
I really enjoyed this book, I laughed quite a bit and couldn’t put it down until I finished. Seth, a wolf shifter, who is a little OCD and channels Martha Stuart in his interior designer job, likes to help people where he can. So when he gets a new neighbor, it’s a no-brainer that he’ll bring some food over as a ‘welcome to the neighborhood’ gift. He had no idea that the new neighbor was going to turn his life upside-down. I really wish my husband was so talented at interior design! I loved reading this love story with all it’s bumps on the road to happiness. I can’t wait to see what is in store for Seth’s brothers. I received an advanced reader’s copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Oh dear, where to start? This is a great story. I hated the way the world was handling shifters. It was like Hitler and his camps for shifters. Mandatory registration and next camps that they will never get away from. Seth and his brothers have been protected by their mom their whole life. I laughed myself silly over Seth and his quirky self. Just goes to show that OCD isn't just a human trait. Sara, his mate, is so opposite and it is so funny to see him at her house. There is plenty of action and danger, but Seth just made me laugh the whole way through. I can't wait to find out if Jackson and Raphael get lucky. Do not miss this book, it is a hoot. I volunteered to read an advanced reader copy and am under no obligation to leave this review.
A promising new series! In a world where being a shifter is a virtual death warrant, one family seeks to live a safe, happy life.
What a fun group of people in this story! There are some pretty serious issues muddying up their happiness, but through it all, they live their lives with gusto. I love the unique personalities of the Dunbars and their friends. Seth and Sarah make a delightful couple, even with (or maybe because of) their very different living style. He’s a bit compulsive in his need for order; she would rather live with the mess than organize. Great world-building: the stage is set for further stories in the series. I’m looking forward to more in this interesting series!
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. Seth's world consists of keeping a low profile and the secret that Not only could shred his but his whole families lifes. On the other side there's Sarah, former Olympian, and about to wreck Seth's world for the good. Unfortunately there are some people not in their right mind and out for blood to all things Stifter... A very fabulous start of a new series. It's Not quite as amazing as the previous "7 moon" series, but there's a lot of potential.
This is a different shifter story, the shifters are being hounded, interned and killed. Seth and his family haven't had the tools to live with their wolves in harmony. So Seth is frightened that he'll hurt Sarah without meaning too. Sarah doesn't know what the great secret is, and is also trying to overcome the emotions brought on by her father's treatment of her. Hopefully there are going to be more stories about Raph, Jackson, Nat and Kaya. I received an Advanced Reader Copy and am leaving a voluntary review. A great read from Selena.
I really loved this one. I couldn’t put it down. The three brothers are just so different and funny. Seth has definitely got some OCD going on. But when he meets his new neighbor, Sarah, his world changed instantly. All it took was one look and the hazard zone that was her living room and he had to help her. But in the end they both helped each other. And I only can hope that we get to read about the other brothers and the other two young woman that were in the book. And don’t forget about his mother. She should be nominated as a saint.
Content Warning: past mental and physical abuse discussed.
I have two beefs. First, there wasn't really a HEA, and the next book is about Seth's twin brother Raphael, so it could be difficult to work it in. Second, the last chapter seemed very rushed. I'm going to keep reading the series because it has pulled me in, but I do have some concerns because of this book. With that out of the way...I really did enjoy the book as a whole. The spice doesn't kick in until toward the end, but there is plenty of build-up to keep you frustrated. -DL
I was so pleasantly surprised by this book!!!! I read shifter romances all the time and usually never finish them because they always rush to sex and don’t have much emotional connection or good world building. This book was so different. It almost read like a contemporary romance until the shifter bits came in and then that was so much fun. The characters are so real! Seth and Sarah are best friends turned steamy lovers and ugh. So cute! Can’t wait to read more.
New series book 1 the storyline is a little different then most shifter storylines and the basics of a shifter is different in this series but that makes it interesting.a woman takes on 2 twin male wolf shifter and a friend's wolf shifter son.they also grow up with two twin human female's who knows there secrets.a love interest for one of the brothers moved into town setting up the storyline.in this series shifters are in hinding.
The characters feel genuine and fleshed out, which is the book’s strong point. Vaguely interesting situation with how the public views and handles shifters but it’s never really capitalized on. The book was really mild throughout, tensions were brief and resolved too quickly or dragged tepidly. Some spicy moments of romance but mostly middling. It’s a sweet relationship but I need more danger and adrenaline. The ending felt a bit rushed as well… too abrupt.
Was a okay read, I felt it was a super generic story and writing. I did like that there are all kinds of animal shifters in this "world". Also this is the first book and is mainly full of information and background info.
liked: different animal shifter types Shifters aren't treated the same, as in most stories I liked Seth's Relationship with Sarah Low Spice - (For me)
Con: Mostly a info dump, setting up for the rest of the series
