The Blue Solace #2

The General's Mate

Rate this book
Welcome back to the Blue Solace: (Sequel to "The Mercenary's Mate")

Leti Ando and Will Hackett are certain about one thing in all the galaxy. They love one another. Now that they are mated, it's time to meet Hack's parents and settle into their new home. In a normal courtship, the two would spend time getting to know one another and reveling in their love. Normal isn't what they get.

Leti struggles to understand the artifact Dr. Morrick left them, but what he's discovering is unbelievable and completely frightening. If his theories are true, then the entire galaxy is at risk. Meanwhile, he tries to adjust to Charybdis Station, deal with his parents, and worse of all, learn to cook. Luckily he has friends, old and new, to help him.

Hack comes home to Charybdis Station, expecting a break from the hectic adventures of the past few months. What he gets are changes, more responsibilities, and a war with the Concord. He'll deal with it, though. All he has to do is look around him to understand why it's time to fight back.

Together, the new couple must learn to stand together, to accept and support one another. Their happiness isn't the only thing at risk.

Author's Note: 60,000+ words. This is a m/m love story with no angst and no cheating, just a HEA. There is lots of action, sex, mpreg, and a few potty mouths involved in the story. 18+ readers only, please. It is also the second book in a series that is best read in order. Read "The Mercenary's Mate" first!

I have been self-publishing since October 2018. My books are extremely light and fluffy m/m romance with mpreg, and while they span a few subgenres of romance, they have similar themes of found family and love at first sight. Besides writing, I enjoy reading everything I can get my hands on, especially m/m romance. My personal favorites are mpreg, sci-fi, fantasy, and paranormal.

Things are moving along in the battle with the Concords. Leti and Sebastian are figuring out what the artifact is and what it does and it's not good. All this while they're both about to pop! Battles are fought and new people are added to Leti's family.

I'm loving this cheesy sweet series. I absolutely adore Leti. He never turns anyone away and makes friends wherever he goes. Yes, it's a bit ridiculous. But, it's just what I need at the moment.

On to book 3 and Morgan and his mate.

This series is fun! It’s not perfect in any way, but these books are drama free, have true mates all over the place (or space I should say), and the plot isn’t bad either.

This book continues where the first one left off. Leti and Hack are still going strong and Leti is still adopting animals and children left and right.

Meanwhile they’ve figured out that the artifact Dr. Morrick was investigating houses an old being that can take over a person’s body. The resurrected queen is trying to take over the galaxy with the help of the cruel Concord, and only the crew of Charybdis Station can stop them….

Leti and Hack were still adorable together. Hack as the tough captain, and Leti as the sweet, but fierce blabbermouth. Leti is now pregnant, but is still determined to help with the war against the Concord.

The two things that bother me in every book is that the plot is quite rushed, and there’s hardly any romantic relationship development. The guys are mates and BAM! Instant relationship. Now I can do mate stories just fine, but the couple does have to spend some time together to make me really feel the love. And that isn’t always the case here. It seems they’re too busy doing other things while I want them to just relax and spend some time together. And not just squeeze in a quicky here and there.

But that being said, these books are still fun. There are lots of kids (or pregnant men about to give birth), who are adopted in no time. We also have lots of cute animals running around. And no one ever seems to get angry or annoyed. Everyone is basically happy all the time. But that’s not always a bad thing in a book.

4,75 ⭐️

I hear you ask: Why not 5 ⭐️? Because it’s end with a cliffhanger. Well... Not really. Maybe a little. But it’s unfair, and I don’t like it. And I want to read the book 3, but I have so many other books to read... (I’m crying a lot there ! 😭)

Why did I like it?

₪ THE PLOT. OMG THE PLOT OKAY. 🙊
₪ Yes, Leti and Will are so much in love 🥰, but the focus of this book is not their relationship. And it’s good. 👍🏻
₪ The angst is here. (For me anyway.) and I don’t like it usually, but here ? Here it’s so good I can’t be angry with the author for saying in the blurb that it’s angst-free. 🤦🏻‍♀️
₪ The babes. All the babes (and not-babes). Their family growing and it’s adorable ! (Because Will can’t say no to Leti, and Leti can’t say no to children in needs.) 💜
₪ The relationships of the secondary character comes together pretty well, and I can’t wait to read their books ! 📚
₪ ACTION ! It’s so much more present in this books ! And the mystery. And the blood 🩸! But I can’t say more because I don’t wanna spoil ! 🤐

What I didn’t like?

۩ The ending. Because... Who do that ?! 😭
۩ So much things happen and it’s a little complicated to follows all that. (But it doesn’t really bother me. 🤷🏻‍♀️)
۩ It’s the last book for Leti and Will. And I’m sad. (But I’m glad too, because I want read about the others couple ! 😆)

The second book delivers more of the outright space pirate swept-off-his-feet by his fated-intelligent-dude-in-distress (and bearer of his child) mate, plenty of space-based action and building conflict and drama.

With pets.

In other words, more space opera mpreg crack for my growing craving.

Wow

I think Leti is a true joy and delight. He has such a huge heart and he wants to make sure everyone is safe and happy. Will is an amazing man who just takes everything in stride.

Plot wise this installment was much more developed. I have a problem with the story bordering on ridiculous some of the time, then it gets serious and interesting, and when you expect for the MMCs from the cover to step in and have a little bit of that relationship development, you're again disappointed.

I can't rate this more than 2.5

🟡 Happening on Charybdis Station, a closed off station looking almost like a planet

"Charybdis Station came into view. The large station was roughly circular, resembling a planet. It was a massive, fully man- made planet. It had a thick, impenetrable, and clear barrier between the surface and the empty space surrounding it."

🟣 More kids get adopted and everyone gets a new house
🔵 Again, way too many side characters, I've lost the plot, I don't know who's who anymore
🟢 For a mercenary station, these guys are constantly hugging and crying
🔵 Leti is still pregnant
🌶️ 🧐 Still waiting for it

So, the cover is a bit misleading. Leti is someone I'm coming to like and he's definitely not like that guy up there. This was the Leti in my mind.

Leti's finally getting married to his Captain, he's a somewhat funny character that's being protected and cherished by everyone, so when it comes down to it, yes, I'm glad he's found his happiness. I wish he'd get more time with his husband though, there's a couple of second of their morning sex somewhere in there and it's good, but most of the story isn't romantic, I have no idea why Leti and Will are on the cover, the book is about everything else but them.

The storytelling is still not likeable and what bothered me a lot in this book besides a tiresome, repetitive plot and dialogues was the fact that most of the female characters are villains, they're all called bitches and I don't know if this author is using profanity to make the characters more laid back and likeable, but it's not working in this case. It's out of place.

"Franklin gave him a cold look. “Why are you in charge of his belongings? Are you a doctor? Are you a scientist? No, you’re a fat little whore taking up space on this alien- infested barge.”" 🤨

On one hand you've got cute pets (I'm sick of them at this point) and adopting kids (and they all have something to say) and the book goes on and on about everyone's eating habits, saving the Charybdis station and hugging all the damn time, but then when it comes to female characters, they talk like this and everyone knows one woman who's a bitch.

The world building is quite good and I definitely am interested in other couples, but with this kind of storytelling I'm seriously doubting if it's worth reading the whole series. Where's the romance? I'm reading this because I want to know about those two on the cover, not a million other things the 628 side characters are doing. So many kids my god, why?? No wonder there's not even one paragraph of only Leti and Will, there can't be, because 168 pets have to be mentioned first.

Gah, I don't like it. At all. I really hope it gets better, honestly, Will and Leti haven't delivered.

I never get tired of this series. I just love all the characters.
December 2019
Liked it just as much on the second reading as I did the first.

Rating: 4 stars
I’m really enjoying this series. It’s one of those series that has absolutely no basis in fact and every character is too good to be true, but it makes me smile. I love how Leti keeps bringing home more and more strays and everyone including Hack just goes with it. I’m a bit annoyed that the book ended in a big cliff hanger and it doesn’t look like it will be addressed in the next book. I’m really wanting to know what happens next. Hopefully, the author will get to it soon. I definitely hope to get more Leti and Hack and their wonderful menagerie of pets and family members.

Ahhh…I love this second book so much, especially the beginning when Leti is trying to give his speech about freeing Draif and no one else is having it. This book really ramps up the tension for the upcoming battles with the Concord peoples as well as developing the elements. For a cozy series, there is definitely a serious undertone although it is still pretty low-key in this book. I always love spending time with this group of characters.

The second book is as great as the first one.
I personally really enjoy that it followed Leti and Hack again. The story gets more intriguing, the more they figure out about the queen. I also love to see more of the life on Charybdis Station.
I laughed a lot while reading it, I had a big smile on my face for most of it! Totally recommend this series!!

A Solid Foundation

This is the second book in the series and continues the story of Leti and Will. They are traveling home to Charybdis Station to deliver the element for further study and to build a home with all their family and friends. The Concord, a mercenary group hired to steal the element is still giving the Blue Solace (Will's airship) trouble. The Blue Solace and their sister ships from Charybdis Station are also tasked with rescuing hostages aboard the Concord's many ships and offering aid whenever possible.

Leti and Will continue to grow as a couple and to find their place on Charybdis Station as things change and war looks to be inevitable. New friends and family are brought into the group and everyone must be on watch because nothing is certain with enemies growing stronger and coming closer to home.

Not everything is as dire as it sounds there is still plenty of love and laughter. Family and friends are also a must for Leti and Will. If you've read book one you know how big Leti's heart is and how he brings love and family so easily into Will's life. You also know Will was just waiting for Leti to come into his life and give Will the opportunity to open his heart fully to those he cares for. I absolutely adore this series and I can't wait to see what happens next.

Growing family, growing threats

This was a good book to continue expanding this universe and present more of the arc that is clearly going to extend for much of the story. It also served to settle Leti and Hack after the excitement of their meeting and journey in the first book.

Leti and Hack finally make it to Charybdis Station but all that means is they are now going to figure out life going forward. This isn't just about them, but also their growing family and the crew they both love. Changes are also happening for all of Charybdis Station and it will change what they do going forward. Hack isn't going to stop working with his crew, not is Leti going to stop putting his heart out there to save people whenever her can, and the two see how that will be with them together at home.

There is much investigating the element that the group found in their adventure in the previous book. It has a mysterious history and unusual abilities. As Leti continues to investigate odd happenings are going on in the universe. There is something brewing related to the element and it threatens all life. This story arc is not one that can be resolved in this book and is clearly going to be a continuing arc in future books. The research in this book was fascinating and I look forward to what adventures it will bring for this crew as the series moves forward!

This series is an excellent mix of romance, humor, and galaxy spanning, bigotry fueled war and cruelty.

This is the second book that covers Leti and Hack. The ships manage to fight their way home to Charybdis Station and find more than a few good surprises waiting for them. Leti and Sebastion work together to figure out the history of the elements and thus what they are. General Hack is busy with the war on the Concords. Battles, betrayals, and new friends fill Leti and Hack’s new life together.

This book is rated 4 stars. The depth of the characters, worlds, and history within this story is amazing. There are some minor inconsistencies and a few typos that can make things a bit confusing at times. The flow of this story is great and easy to read even when a lot of time passes.

Personal Note:
I loved how real the problems within this book were. They just declared war, life certainly isn’t all sunshine and roses! Between assassinations, battles, and betrayals, you get to see the characters fight for what they believe in and for each other.
I would also like to point out how much I would love to have a Fire Veil Dragon….

I doing one one review for all of the books due to I gave book 1 a bad rating and review. Now it seems the author got his or her groove on after book 1 the story started getting better and better and I look forward to hearing book 7 The Rebel Mate when it comes out.
In so many ways the series could be compared to out us today one group determined to destroy another because how they may worship, look, race or who they love we see this in our government, religious leaders and white supremacists but in the books this happens in the future were man has gone into apace and met other beings soon their is no full human and what there is very small but they have decided go to war against the non human because of how they look, their race and most likely who they love they decide to kill billions of people for what they wanted A Pure Full Human Race and either kill everyone else or sell them into salvery.
As I said I was not pleased with book one but the following books were great and the narrator did a great to bring the story alive. So you check it out

Sweet Adventure

I am loving this series! It is a fun sci-fi/fantasy/adventure. The worlds are interesting. The main characters are great and the relationships are very sweet. There is minimal spice, for those who care.
My complaint is the number of characters in the story without much character development for each. There are well over 20 (probably many more) people who pop up in the story but I can’t remember where they originated or their significance. When a new character appears, they seem insignificant but their name will continue to be a part of the rest of the story. I have no idea where they came from. I am having to use the search feature over and over again to try to figure who a character is and where they originated. I understand that this is a whole world of characters that are needed to keep it running but there are just too many to keep up with! It takes me out of the story every time a name I don’t remember pops up.
Definitely worth the read though.

This is the second book in this series therefore, if you haven’t read book 1, I would urge you to do so.

The world building was fantastic and I liked how the author introduced the various couples that might get together later.

Leti and Hack were sweet together and I enjoyed their beautiful yet precious moments. Their family is growing in more ways than one and their new additions warmed my heart.

Action packed story with plenty of heat, drama and mushiness to keep you entertained.

Alien Fated Mate MM Romance

3 stars!

Book 2 is a continuation of Leti and Will's life and picks up where book 1 left off. The main story arc continues despite the focus of the fated mate relationship so the books should be read in order.

I love this story. The drama of discovering new information. The comedy with the brood of kids and animals. The found family theme. I will say this book had a few editing errors that I tried to overlook but might annoy some readers. I'm officially hooked and just need to know what happens in this story! I can't wait to read book 3!

This take place directly after book 1. The first half was coming to Hacks home and settling in with all the adopted family and menagerie of pets. It moved slow compared to the rollercoaster action of the first book. But then things kicked up a notch the second half! The action and continuing mystery of the artifact, murders, assassins, and it’s the same quirky over the top ridiculous happenings. Leti leads a charmed life! I find it too funny. Loving the oddball humor of it all. Overall, a fun read.

Will eventually is going to have to learn how to love his wild-ideas -mate without popping a vessel.

I'm liking the new plotline

I wish that this book had a new couple, like it appears that all of the future books have, but this was a solid transition from the pure silly fun of the first book into a more serious plotline for the books going forward.

I do have to wonder about why the Charybdis folks don't simply attack the Crellic planet and sterilize it from space. We know that the people aren't numerous and, under Life's power, they're also pretty much a lost cause.

Once again, this book was not for me. The writing was good and the author had a lot of fun writing her characters, but I just didn’t click with the characters and didn’t find the humor to my taste. I think there are a lot of other people who will enjoy this book. I recommend anyone interested in reading this book to read a sample and decide if it’s the book for them.

The narrator was great and did an outstanding job on the performance of the audiobook.

I loved it!

This was a great addition to the Blue Solace series. I do recommend reading the first book in the series before reading this book. I can't wait for Sebastian and Leti to give birth and I swear the author is putting a letter from Dr. Morris to his estranged son at the end of each book just to make me cry. I can't wait to read the next book in the series!I read this book using the Kindle Unlimited program.

Amazing

Leti is at it again taking in strays and not only animals. Now he's adopted an assassin who had been out to kill him only to be rescued by said assassin. They've also discovered more about the artifact and none of it good news. This story is just getting better as I go from book to book it's definitely something you want to read in order.

Still an Odd Story

This installment is just as chaotic as the first, yet still endearing for some reason. Lots of characters and cast members to keep organized in your head, and a pro-positive spin to most all story threads. Positive ending for this book and a decent lead in to the next.

Well done!

This was a very well written book! I enjoyed the interaction between the characters and the action that comes with the story line. I get a little lost with all the characters and pets, but I think I’m finally getting there. A great series I’m looking forward to reading more! Highly recommended

Fell in love with Leti and Will

This is the second book of the series. Definitely read the books in order. I have become completely hooked by Leti and Will and their Crew. The blue solace is a ship run by Will and his crew. CW Gray has created an incredible world and I can't wait to see what happens next.
