Sarah K. L. Wilson is a USA Today Bestselling author who writes fantasy stories featuring practical heroes & heroines in the most impractical circumstances. She loves writing because it is the only way to make a living and give back to the world when your primary skill is an overactive imagination and a tendency toward violent daydreams. Sarah can be found in the outdoors of Northern Ontario with her young boys and beloved husband, reading a book, or fending off her husband's pet turkeys with a straw broom. You can find Sarah's books in paperback, hardcover, ebook and audiobook and they have also been translated into Italian, German, and (very soon) Turkish. Please, do, enjoy the read!
This is really a prequel to the Dragon School series and is well worth the read. It is short but you learn how dragons and humans started working together.
I will admit, a large part of why I enjoyed this book, is because I love dragon riders, but it also made me interested in reading more. They also are killing demons, but it is super short.
A great start to a new series! This book picks up where the last Dragon School Book Ends, so the situation is clear to those having read the previous series. However, the focus, or “Hero” of this book appears to be Tor, a ragamuffin who had been promised a place in the Dragon School when Hubric returned for him. However, due to the war from the preceeding series, circumstances have altered plans for Tor. Initially, Tor is not very likeable, as he has been hardened by street-living in a war zone which is now only rubble. There are glimpses of the kind of young man he COULD become, if given the basic necessities of life, love and guidance—all of which are missing in his life. Even in this episode, we see some improvements in his attitudes, but major changes await. A key player in his development may well be a dragon! In so few pages, a major story has a basis laid that promises a good adventure for the reader. I find myself, as with the initial series, eagerly awaiting the next episode.
More of a teaser chapter/prologue to the Dragon School series, we’re introduced to Haz, the first Dragon Rider and heir to the human throne, and Haz’drazen, the Dragon queen and first Dragon to team up with a human against the Ifrit monsters who would destroy all humans and dragons if given half a chance. It’s a snapshot teaser of the world, which promises to be much bigger than we see here. It’s smoothly written, with emotion and heart in it: trust and duty play no small roles, as well as a solid dash of faith and hope. It definitely makes me curious about the world and what the rest of the series will be about. 3.5 stars rounded down.
I received a free ebook copy of this in exchange for an honest review. This has not affected the contents of my review or rating.
This story serves as a prequel to the Dragon School series and showcased how humans and dragons came to work together.
I was surprised by how super short the story was. It would be so amazing if this was a full fledged book. I know I want to read so much more of the the Dragon School world. Still, it was a very quick and nice peak into this beloved world.
I would recommend reading this short story before or after having read Dragon School.
My twenty-fourth read from author Sarah K.L. Wilson a Dragon School short story Christmas Event that could only be read on Facebook Messenger (I hope I got it all). I've run out of superlatives to describe her writing. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018)
A great start and prequel to this book series. Made me tear up a bit because of how hard life is for these people but there's hope. I'm excited to read the series now because this piqued my interest.
My first introduction into the dragon school world. Short, sweet and to the point, and yet I feel like I've already learned so much of the world! I'll be returning for more!
First Dragon Rider is a prequel to the Dragon School series about -surprise- the first dragon rider! It is super short, and therefore I would recommended reading it after (or during) the Dragon School books.
As always: well written, good story line and lovable characters!
This is the beginning of the Dragon School series It is the story of how Haz and Haz’drazen became the legends of Dragon School history. Short but explains how the Dragons and Dominars made their deal to work together It also gives more of the story of Ifrits.
