The Knights Club #3

Learning Trust

Rate this book
Rio Garcia was not prepared to become a surrogate father to his seventeen year old brother, but he didn’t have much choice in the matter. He did have a choice of the men he could have in his bed. Steve Coulter was on his two strikes and you’re out list. Rio didn’t trust anyone especially cops. So, why did the man get under his skin and make him sweat.

Steve Coulter had never wanted anything more than to be a cop. Being gay did not fit into his career choice. Keeping things on the down low he could have both, but there was no way he was coming out. He didn’t trust anyone that much. Rio Garcia the hot bartender at the Knights Club made him want things he knew he couldn’t have, so why did he keep going back.

Trust. It’s a big thing. Can Rio and Steve overcome their past issues with trust to find a happily ever after that works for them? Life and family at the Knights Club is always a challenge.

This book contains material that is intended for a mature, adult audience. It contains graphic language, explicit sexual content, and adult situations.

In all honesty, I didn't like Rio much in the earlier books, and I wasn't sure anyone could melt the contrary Rio's heart, much less a police officer, but he and Steve are just so good together. In fact, Rio has won me over completely now that I see the other side of that anger he wore like shield. Learning Trust is a relatively quick read, but what it lacks in pages, it makes up for in story. We also get a bit of danger and action along with the steam generated by Rio and Steve. This third book in the series picks up where the last book left off, and there are a couple of continuing storylines going on, so I would recommend reading the series in order to get all the goods on these wonderful characters. There's also a couple of things going on at the conclusion that has me worried for one couple and curious about a couple of other characters. All in all, Rio and Steve's story is a great addition to the Knight's Club family, and I can't wait to see what's next.

Rio serves drinks at The Knights Club. He watches the cop that sits at the end of the bar watching him.

Steve watches Rio, wanting him even though he knows he will never admit aloud that he is gay. They dance around each other, finally giving in to their desires. Steve feels guilty that he can’t proclaim his love for Rio.

This book was a bit different than the others in the series. I liked the little bit of mystery in it. Rio and Steve are very sweet together. The series is nicely written and the characters are all becoming one big family.

Rio and Steve what can I say? Absolutely loved these two together. Rio was outstanding and I loved the relationship that he had with his brother. Although Steve wasn't willing to come out, Rio still accepted him and loved him.
What made this the best for me was that CJ Baty gave us some danger, suspense and action in this installment.
Rio and Steve are the best but I love Xavier and See but they broke my heart! Can't wait for the next installment.

The story was good, but the editing was the worst of the series.

A Scattered Thoughts and Rogue Words Review An Alisa Review:

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

Well, I liked this story more than the others in the series so far but only marginally. Rio has taken in his brother and it’s caused him a crazy amount of stress. Steve has been hiding who he is for so long, it’s become second nature.

Both of these men are struggling and when they come to have to rely on each other it helps break down their walls. Okay, so basically both of these guys are in the closet but not really to their closest friends, even if they think so, and the outside world. It doesn’t take long to find a compromise but I hope it doesn’t hurt them in the future. My only real gripe with the story is at the New Year’s party and Phillip has a confrontation with the Bradys’ sister and how judgmental Seb is, especially after how he was treated, he is even holding a grudge with Xavier when the book ends. I am hoping this doesn’t continue with the rest of the series.

The cover art by Select-O-Grafix is okay and follows the same style and set up as the rest of the series.
