Dooms Day, May 3, 2101, at 6:00 and twenty seconds. The alien artifact’s predicted collision with Earth by the planet-killing asteroid was fast approaching. The United States had kept the prediction and the alien artifact which made it, a closely held secret but something had changed to alter the prediction, something unexpected and now the Earth was in a different kind of danger, one that might also signal the end of humanity. In “Waves on Mars,” the United States, helped by the information contained in the alien artifact found in 2085, has begun to colonize Mars and terraform the planet to make it habitable for humans. Mars has surprises unforeseen though, and those surprises alter the American path. Everywhere the United States turns, it’s faced with the unintended consequences of its secret use of the alien information. Now it’s backed into a corner and faced with certain failure or worse, the end of all life here on the only planet we can call, “Mother Earth.”
I gave the first book a try and it was barely passable. The author seriously needs to research a few topics to make his stories, which actually aren’t bad ideas, more immersive. If you know anything about the way a government, the military (specifically rules of engagement and protocol), and security clearances really work, then you’ll stop reading at the same place I did. I just couldn’t take it anymore. There’s only so much credulity one can suspend for a good yarn. Also, the horrible punctuation and grammar slowed me down too often. Both books need extensive editing.
Waves on Mars was as enjoyable as the first book in the series. I can’t wait to begin the next book! I am not a science fiction reader. I do like interaction between characters. I like characters I can relate to. I’d recommend this to those who enjoy SciFi and those who only occasionally read SciFi.
Waves on Mars reintroduced readers to space exploration and colonization
I have found this series offering a fresh vision of humanity's quest to travel the solar system and preserve mankind. I like how the author has protected the history of the artifacts and left me with many questions about their benevolence. What is the artifacts game? Looking forward to more revelations.
It was an interesting read. I don't think I got as excited for the second book. They were less important characters or the characters from the previous book didn't seem to carry as much weight. I would recommend the book I think it is worth your challenge to see if I'm wrong.
Not as good as first. Numerous grammatical, spelling and story errors. Writer repeats parts of story. Not sure if this is a page filling technique or just an assumption that his readers are to stupid to remember. Basic storyline is good
If action adventure is your thing, this book has it. If political intrigue sparks your lamp, this book has it, too. A bit tedious here and there, but a great read. Go for it!
