Ellen had spent years married to Toby. He had seemed absolutely wonderful when they first married, but her life with him steadily became a nightmare. On the night she fled from him, he robbed her family’s bank leaving them with nothing. And since he was the one who had sold her parents the insurance policy on the bank, was it any real surprise to learn that he was in reality a scam artist and a thief? With nothing left but her family, including two younger siblings and both parents who needed assistance, what was Ellen to do?

In order to gain a divorce from her criminal husband, who has fled to parts unknown, Ellen must place an advertisement in the newspaper for 90 days announcing her desire for a divorce and giving Toby the opportunity to refuse it. Given that he is wanted by the law, it is unlikely that he will respond to her advertisement and that after the 90 days have passed her divorce will automatically be granted, but what will Ellen and her family do to survive in the meantime? As a woman her options are limited, and the only solution that seems to hold any promise is to become a mail-order bride.

I really enjoyed reading this book. Ellen comes across as very realistic and you can see the challenges she faces in trying to not only survive and support her family, but in trusting any man or even her own judgement ever again. After all, Toby had seemed the most wonderful of men when they first met and started courting, but her life with him had quickly turned into a nightmare. If she had been so wrong about him, what are the chances that Axel, the man who answered her mail-order bride ad, is truly any different? Can she really trust him? Can she once again learn to trust herself? And when his secrets come out (for everyone including Ellen has secrets) will she be saved or hurt even more than she was with Toby?

I think this is one of the best mail-order bride books that I have read thus far. I loved the story, the characters, and the twists that pop up in this tale. If you enjoy reading mail-order bride stories, I strongly recommend reading this one.

Ellen and her family lived in Baltimore, Maryland. Ellen was married to Toby who was a drunkard and abuser. One night he tried to kill her and stole money from the bank where her father worked. She posted a public ad in the paper to acquire a divorce. Before that occurred in the final stages, she posted an ad as a mail order bride. Axel lives in Pathways, Wyoming on a beautiful ranch his Uncle built. His uncle has given him and three of his cousins an ultimatum. Whoever marries first inherits the ranch. Axel immediately sought a mail order bride and answered Ellen’s ad. Ellen included her family members as the price for her to accept a bride request. Once there Ellen becomes enamored of Axel and him the same. Ellen has a problem with trusting Axel because of what transpired with Toby. They are waiting on word if Toby answered the ad or not..if he did it will stall her getting married. The worse is yet to come..Toby shows up in Pathways looking for Ellen. What happens? Will Toby stop the wedding? Will Ellen and Axel marry? Come along for a tumultuous journey with Axel and Ellen, along with all the others. This was a fast paced read and sweet in parts and exciting in others! I received this book as a gift and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Mail Order Bride: The Abused Bride and Her Impulsive Rancher

Axel needed a wife in order to make his dream come true, Ellen desperately needed a way to help her family, maybe even find a home . But can these folks from the city ever realize that Montana's way of life is very, very different from Baltimore and that sometimes you have to be strong enough to fight for what you love. That is just what a man has to do to survive in Montana. BRAVO 👏👏

Trust Issues

Ellen and her family were a Mail order family of which Axel ordered sort of. Axel didn't know he was getting a whole family when he ordered his bride but he grew to love them. Ellen and her family grew to love Axel also but there was always that little issue of trust! Especially when Ellen and Axel both kept secrets from others. I loved this book. It has lots of action in it and you don't always know what will happen next!

Abused Bride

I liked the story but I felt the book was way to long, especially from the bride's side. Sure she had a bad experience with her 1st husband but she was the one to make her own decisions, not anyone else. The H brings her whole family out to live with him & she accepts but spends months flip flopping on him. The man had the patience of a saint to put up with his treatment.

She's a fantastic story teller

She is consistently good, never a repeating or similar storyline with the exception that eventually our female character decides to become a mail order bride. I've read at least six or seven of her books so far, her characters are always strong willed, of good character and once they recognize it, they love fiercely.
I do suggest reading the first books so you can see how the mail order bride agency was established.
Enjoy your reading.
