He’s dark, twisted, and irresistible. Is a second chance with her dangerous obsession worth risking her life?
I lick my lips and taste what remains of him there. But his salacious presence, his brutal, arrogant touch is just a bittersweet memory. No, an Obsession. One I should shrink from, yet the only one I run towards.
He’s everywhere, and nowhere. And so am I. We’re tabloid gold.
The alluring, beautiful big cat tamer and the decadent, volatile rock god. The only beast I couldn’t tame. The wild predator who’s gripped me and savaged me and shaken me right down to my filthy, adulterated core.
Last time, before banishing me, he almost killed me. Only because he suspected my ultimate betrayal.
I’ve betrayed him in many ways since then. And vowed never to reveal my most guarded, darkest secret. The revelation that’ll spiral him over the edge. No matter what he does to make me talk, and confess.
More than anything I long for his forgiveness, even as I crave his fury. Reveling in the sticky-sweet memories of fear and pain and lust and pleasure all twisted into one.
So I’m here, uninvited and certainly unforgiven. Afraid he won’t open the door and petrified he will. I swallow hard. Knock loudly. Braced to take my shameful, torturous punishment and end my pain.
Because sometimes...the depths of darkness spawn the most reassuring light.

From Amazon
“Powerfully dark rockstar romance...These characters show a whole new side to obsessive love. It punches you with its intensity and won’t apologize afterwards. I have read many dark stories but this one just gets it right.”
“If you enjoy very dark books, then this will be a 5 star read!!”
“Lexxi Chase’s writing is incredible, intense and poetic...I highly recommend this book (with caution to readers) and this author to readers of dark romance.”
“Well written, sickly fascinating and gripping...Even though I had mixed feelings due to the nature of the abuse and the twisted characters, I was completely glued to the screen.”
“Dark does not adequately cover their words and actions. I truly didn’t know if I would be able to finish it despite the craftsmanship of this author...I still get chills just thinking about them.”
0 Star The storyline would have been extremely interesting. Not many books depict a toxic rock couple. What made this book DNF was the Authors obsession with the hair and bangs of the leading male character Jake. Jake’s hair is the star of the story and mentioned in every freakin paragraph, even when Jake is trying to strangle Amanda she’s lamenting over his soft long hair The hair is practically a character all it’s own No point to the story as I came to find out that the characters do not develop nor does the story have a point
This is not for the faint hearted!! This story was a good story, well written, very dark and gripping. Ok some of the stuff he did to her was hard to stomach - especially at the start - but it was like car crash tv couldn’t look away. Was torn most of the time between wanting her to completly piss him off and get major revenge or see them work it out and be happy. Jake is not nice.. at all, but you can feel Amanda’s desperation and addiction towards him. It was Infuriating the shit he gets away with and she’s always in the wrong! The ending was crazy dramatic.. for a minute I was thinking hey this was supposed to be a happy ending this is not going well, but yeah it worked out in the end.

When this author Lexxi Chase tells you that this book is full of triggers, is very very dark, explicit scenes, violence etc if it bothers you run for the hills you do that because my oh my that’s putting it lightly. This is Jake’s and Amanda’s story and it’s one hell of a volatile relationship and that is why I’m not going to give any spoilers. I enjoyed reading this story but a few things were even hard for me and I’m not usually shocked that easily, Lexxi Chase has quite the imagination and I will be reading more of her books. This story is like looking at the other side of rock stardom and trust me it’s not a pretty sight. A great story and I recommend this book but be warned it’s very dark.
I enjoy reading dark romance and have read some really dark stories. However, I would not classify this as romance, dark or otherwise. It is all darkness and abuse. Amanda and Jake have one f'ed up relationship. Despite what Jake does to her, Amanda keeps going back to him. She begs him even. I could not find any redeeming qualities about Jake. In all the dark romances I've read, even when the "hero" is behaving cruelty, I can always find the real man underneath. There's something that makes me feel for him. That was not the case with Jake. I am giving three stars because the book was not terrible, and was even well written. I just couldn't connect with either Amanda or Jake. *I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. This is my honest review.*
This relationship is a train wreck.......but you still want to know what will happen Jake is a rock star with an army of fans that adore him and women throwing themselves at him. Amanda is the famed Beast Mistress that tames wild cats except the man she loves. The relationship between Jake and Amanda is often violent fueled with obsession, heartbreak and addictive. Jake is possessive and jealous and takes out his anger on Amanda that is shocking and hair raising. Amanda is obsessed with him and will do anything to have Jake in her life to the point that she will accept his humiliation and degradation even if it lands her in hispital broken qnd bruised fighting to survive. Jake would rather kill Amanda than let another man take away the woman that he loves.
2.5 Stars with potential. The blurb for this book really caught my interest and I was excited to read a darker book by a new-to-me author. First, I will say that this book has a lot of potential and the storyline is intriguing. Unfortunately, a potentially good read was hindered by poor sentence structure. The run-on sentences full of unnecessary descriptors made this a very tedious read that I struggled to finish. The story really gets lost in all the unnecessary words. I think a run through a good editor would help trim the excess and make it a much more readable book.

This book came with a lot of warnings, and they are necessary. Jake and Amanda are in a thrill seeking and sex addicted relationship. It has to be different, more intense then the last time. So they level up at all costs. This might be lethal. It sounds like a game, but it’s dead serious. Their jobs are very different and it’s what makes them survive as long as they do. Live life to the fullest gets a whole different meaning. I kept thinking what had to happen to wake them up to what is most important? Not the influence of friends or family, that’s for sure. But is there something, anything that helps? If you want an unpredictable book, this is it.
~ Manipulative and destructive, yet they cannot seem to stay away from each other~
The first offering from this author comes with many warnings, but I believe each reader will take away different experiences with this read. The obviously toxic relationship between Amanda and Jake will either have you cringing, shaking your head, or on the edge of your seat in disbelief with their outrageous antics. These two society’s divas are hell-bent on testing whatever manages to exist between them, and it is a dark, intense, and wild ride.
The story was good, but I had a real hard time just getting into it. Most books I can't stop reading and I devour them. It took me 5days to finish this. The author can definitely right, but it seemed to me that I read almost the same thing over and over. We don't need to know about Jakes long, silky hair in everything he does. It really just took to long to get to the point. I received an ARC from Hidden Gems and this is my honest opinion.
This book is not for the faint of heart. It's a very explosive, dysfunctional and violent relationship. It's what not not to do it live with. Unfortunately, both women and men stay in unhealthy relationships. This story is simply an extreme version of this. I did enjoy reading something different. I'd say this story is dark and twisted.
Be warned this is a dark read. Jake and Amanda’s relationship and painful with lots of emotion. It is not an easy world to walk through. I was hooked from beginning the end on their story and thinking about it when I wasn’t reading it. A good read.
Twisted Rhythm by Lexxi Chase Writing was descent, however the characters & the story-line just were not for me, will not be looking to read anything else by this author. "I received an advanced copy of this manuscript and am voluntarily leaving an honest review."
Twisted Rhythm by Lexxi Chase. Jake is a rock star. Amanda is his on off girlfriend. This was a slow but ok read. I wasn't keen on Jake. I thought Amanda could do with better. Very slow. 3*.
The writing is good - The characters are vivid and detailed - The plot is dark and twisted and is for the most part engaging I did have a problem in the beginning with the way the story would jump from character to character mid-scene/chapter but I found after a few chapters it became easier to follow - though it was a bit disconcerting in the beginning IMO this is a story about psychological illness - Our main characters are two souls that carry a lot of emotional trauma - neither have ever confronted their demons but have instead sought affirmation and acceptance in the physical form That are quite a few twists within the storyline and keeping an eye on some of the secondary characters is a must This does detail physical/psychological abuse and trauma
