Rook Security: Complete 5-Part Series

Rate this book
PART ONE
Elena Vasquez thought she would never be safe again, not after she nearly got blown to pieces by a car bomb. Rook Security then comes in, spiriting her away to shield her from the ruthless criminals seeking to kill her and her campaign against ivory smuggling. That’s when she meets him again—the charmingly awkward jock who never gave her the time of day. She knows he’s just being paid to protect her, just doing a job that any meathead with a gun can do… so why is it that he makes her feel that everything’s going to be alright?

PART TWO
Sequence Bone is the ice man of Rook Security—cool, calm, and collected as he watches everything from his high-tech perch. Then she came bumbling and bubbling into his life. His job is to be her eyes and ears, to provide overwatch as she cuts off her ties to one of the most dangerous men in New York. And yet he just couldn’t keep up the frosty mask that he normally wears, couldn’t stop caring about her more than he should.

PART THREE
Atlas Bone knows what it’s like to suffer, to take all the pain and abuse without being able to do a thing. His laughter, his bantering and blustering—all a façade he learned to build up over the years. That’s why he recognized the signs when he first lays his eyes upon the little waif of a woman: eyes deep with despair, flesh sunken from chronic hunger, and bruises in all the right spots. He wanted to give her a small gesture of kindness, help make her life a little easier while soothing over his long-forgotten wounds of the heart. But the past has a way of catching up with everyone...

PART FOUR
Moreau Davy may smile for the cameras, pose for the fans, and dazzle the paparazzi. Deep inside, however, he pines away for a woman he knows hates him. Better to keep her at arm’s length, play the role of stupid celebrity, than to risk losing her altogether by confessing his feelings for her. And then someone decides to kill him… or at least tries to.

Savannah Georgia hates the spoiled, egotistical clients of Rook Security—especially this one self-important Hollywood hotshot. He brings in the money on the regular though so she grits her teeth and plays the part of bodyguard. One failed assassination attempt later, and she finds out that the man called Moreau Davy isn’t as invincible—or as intolerable—as she once thought him to be.

PART FIVE
Javier Rook gave her all the space she needed—even if meant signing the divorce papers. He ignored the screams of his soul, of the love he lost, all for the sake of her happiness. And so he endured, steeling his heart against the pain. If it was for her sake, he would stoically take anything and everything that comes his way.

Someone out there, however, wants to make sure that Javier never finds happiness ever again. And what better way to make a man suffer than to destroy that which he loves most?

Rook Security Part one
Cedric has always been a big guy, even back in high school when Elena knew him. He had a crush on her, had to work with her on a school project, and he has troubling reading (learning disorder) so he lets her think he is a dumb jock. It’s years later, Elena is into animal conservation and has stopped poachers. Someone has killed her partner and they are after her. Her employer hires Rook Security to protect her. Poor Cedric is still hung up on her and he is hoping she doesn’t remember her, but she does. All the guys and one woman is like a big family who take care of each other. I feel bad because Cedric still has problems reading and feels dumb. I liked how he took his time to thinks things out before answering questions. Cedric and Elena find a spark that was probably there when they were younger, but didn’t know what to do about it. This book has suspense, action, brotherhood, loyalty, and romance. I loved it and strongly encourage you to read it.

Part Two
Sequence and Atlas are identical twins, very different personalities, and worked at Rook Security. Their childhood had been deplorable. This affected Sequence in a bad way, and had trouble having any kind of relationship with a woman. Naomi hires the company to help her get a mob boss to leaver her alone. Once they feel it works Sequence and Naomi get together, but Sequence leavers her and then ghosts her. I was so glad to see Rook make him see the in house head doctor to try and help him. I can’t imagine the way he felt about himself. Then the mob boss goes after Naomi again and they have to bring her in on lock down. I felt bad for Naomi as she was so hurt how Sequence treated her. Now she may have to see him and she has a big secret now. There was some suspense happening that I didn’t want to put the book down. Another great book I strongly encourage you to read.

Part 3
This part was a little different. Atlas had a cleaning lady he never sees, but would like to know who does such a great job in his place. He comes home one day and finds the little thing asleep on his counter. She is jumpy and won’t tell him her name. I loved how he tried so many different names to guess what it is. He ends up naming her Bex. Atlas is a big man, but he is so sweet and wants to take care of everyone. He knows Bex is scared and in some kind of trouble because of what he and his brother went through growing up. There is also someone bad after her. I enjoyed watching the two get to know each other, and Bex start to trust Atlas. I encourage you to read it.

Part 4
This is another good couple. I have loved how the movie star Moreau Davy has bated Geo through the previous books. I loved watching the two say nothing to each other so neither one would give up ay information. I had been hoping the two would finally get together. I felt bad that someone tried to do something awful to Moreau. The good that came out of it was that it gave Moreau and Geo time to get to know each other. I encourage you to read the book.

Part 5
I loved Rook and May’s story. After reading the previous books, I knew Rook was still in love with his ex wife. I sometimes wondered about May as she on again and then off again. I liked hearing how they got together in the first place. It was so heart warming to see how much Rook loved May and didn’t let anything stop that love. He is such a great father on top. This was such a good groups of books, that I strongly encourage you to read this anthology.

Good stories, but....

The five books contained in this set are good. The characters are well developed, and the stories all have warm and fuzzy, if predictable, endings. While there are indeed moments of suspense, none of them actually strike fear in the heart as do stories in some of the author's other books. My rating of three stars partially springs from feeling a lack of real sophistication in the writing, but another reason for the rating has a more unfortunate basis.

My problem with this set of books and, indeed, with other books by the same author is the surprising number of grammatical errors found. Whether the writing suffers from poor editing or poor writing is not for me to say; for the sake of the author, I sincerely hope it is poor editing. However, it boggles the mind to think that an editor would find it necessary to correct in such a construction such as "couldn't barely," regardless of the context in which it is used. There are other equally egregious errors, but there is nothing to be gained from listing more of them. While some leeway is allowable in defining a character, pure narrative demands that an author gives characters credit for knowing fifth grade grammar, such as correct verb usage, handling multiple personal pronouns following a verb or preposition....and the list goes on.

It is not comfortable for me to be critical on such a basic level, but there is a problem here and, as mentioned, in other works by the same author; the problem must be addressed by someone, somewhere.

This is my personal opinion and should NOT influence your decision to read this book.

Overall Rating is 3

Book 1
1 Star didn’t connect at all with either H or h; his learning disability was overdone and makes no sense in this day and age. I don’t care for second chance I made more of a connection with secondary characters.

Book 2
3 Star loved Sequence and really liked Naomi. Storyline was great and flowed well. His past is intriguing and how he and his twin handle it differently was nice. The big reveal of his deep dark secret was the best I’ve read. The secondary characters remain interesting.

Book 3
4 Stars
Atlas! Loved this guy from the get go; sweet, funny, gregarious and the polar opposite of his twin. I usually like my H to be moody and dark but he just won my heart.

Bex; Broken, homeless and scared out of her mind. Can Atlas break through her walls and prove he’s worth taking a chance on? Their journey to HEA was great and the book flowed well.

Book 4
3 Stars
Geo is one tough woman and has family problems that are dragging her down.

Moreau is a rich gorgeous movie star that has no personal life.

They both want each other but won’t admit it. Good flow and interesting storyline.

Book 5

I didn’t read it so it’s not calculated or a part of the overall review. I just can’t get into ex spouses getting back together.

These stories had great characters. The introduction of all the characters was well done. Good suspense, good plot and a smokin hot times from the H and h in their respective stories.

I did have a few issues though. Cedric has a learning disability that never gets addressed professionally. Not in school, not in the Marines and not professionally by his oh-so-amazing, best friend boss. Really?

Geo was not my favorite on the team. She was so gorgeous, so bad ass, so blind to all the people who cared about her situation and well being. She played games continuously and then couldn’t understand why Moreau was done with her. I do not like those type of characters.

Then there was May, Rook’s ex-wife. This woman was nothing short of an ungrateful, vindictive, self-centered bitch. She was completely unlike-able. In my opinion she completely ruined Rook’s story. Meeting her during the first 4 books, she was an ok periphery character, but getting to know her in the last story, I was rooting for Rook to date anyone else.

Highly recommend!!!!!💕

Wow! I don't know where to begin. I guess I'll first say this is the first series O read from Camilla Blake. I am happy to say, I am now a fan of her.
I already downloaded another series to read from her.
So getting back to this 5 part series. I want to tell you I have one favorite character...But.. I can't.. I LOVE ALL of them. Seriously wish I had this group as my * real life friends* . All of their stories were amazing and very well written. I laughed with them and cried with them. I am both happy and sad I am finished with the series.. Happy ,to get to know all of their stories..Sad, I want to see what happens next. Thumbs up from me. I will say this is a series I will never forget. Looking forward to reading more from Camilla Blake

Please read this series!!!

You know the expression you feel on your face when you'd like to smile and weep at the same time because you've seen or have a context of the realities the characters have gone through or are going through? Wasn't over-the-top melodrama and angst. The author isn't excessive in describing intimacy (I didn't have to skip whole chapters of too descriptive sex/smut). I highlighted and bookmarked to share with my daughter's, some of the thoughts/philosophy of characters/author; something I rarely do. Few edits needed Really enjoyed and would re-read the series. On to another!

Well worth reading

No plot spoilers
No potential triggers
There are some errors but nothing to get irritated about.
There is some swearing and approximately six sex scenes spread across five stories.
The characterisation is good, and generally speaking they are all likeable characters. Well written and rounded. The exception, for me, is May. I found her to be quite childish and stuck in a pattern that even though she recognised it, still remained stuck there.
Given that I paid less than a pound for the five stories I have to admit I got an absolute bargain!
I have no problem recommending the book to fans of the genre.

Great!

I really, really enjoyed this series. I loved all the characters. This was a series filled with compassion, kindness, protection, and also laughter. Each person of Rook Security had there own individual identity and personality. I enjoyed them all. The women the Cedric, Sequence, Atlas, and Rook fell in love with, they were amazingly meant for them and there personalities. The man that Geo fell in love with was just who she needed as well. This was a great series. I recommend this series to all romance readers.

Review of Room Security

Wow. What an amazing series! I loved every minute of it. I inhaled each story and could not put the books down! The characters were perfectly imperfect or imperfectly perfect. You pick! The story lines were riveting and not the "same old, same old." Thank you, Camilla Blake, for your imagination and foresight. Absolutely fabulous! I HIGHLY recommend Rook Security!!!

Another FABULOUS Series by Camilla Blake

Rook Securities has some strong personalities working there and even stronger personalities in need of their help. From Cedric, Sequence, Atlas, Geo and Rook they will guard and protect those they love. I have read all of Camilla Blake's series on kindle. She never disappoints the reader with fun, mystery, shocking turns at every corner, lust, love, and great sex for her characters. It's s great time to read a Camilla Blake book.

Took a chance

Took a chance on reading this series ..and found myself hooked.. The flow of one story to the next.. I found myself anxious as the stories unfolded. Would have loved to read about their own individual weddings.. To see if Davy n Geo gets married ..even a short story on wilkes... Either way .. I found myself reading it all again...👍

So good

This series sounded like something that I would enjoy even though I’ve never read this author. I was so right. I enjoyed every story in the series, and now I’m going to try the Wolfpack series. If you like stories where the good guys win while falling in love, read these books.

This book set is a great read, that keeps you turning the page.

This book starts with guarding people's safety and ends up stealing your heart of each of the team's alpha's. Hot sex scenes and some heart breaks and PSTD. The way you are taken through each of the stories keeps you wondering what is next... Grab you copy today you won't regret it.

Such Great Characters!

I don’t usually like to read these books written in the third person, but the dialogue is so good in this series that I forgot! The characters are so good! The author had some great unique story lines for each couple and has a great style of bringing the reader along for the ride! Worth the read!!

Soooo Good

Very fulfilling when you're looking for characters to become invested with. Each story meshed with the others so easily. Loved all of the 'people' and their individuality...But 'May' kinda got on my nerves with her back and forth...otherwise...well done.

Good series

I've read quite a few box sets recently but this particular one really stands out as being atypical. Each of the five stories, although sharing characters, had very disparate story lines. None of the oft repeated "moves" common in most series. Very enjoyable.
