Theresa Shaver lives in South Central Alberta Canada.
As an avid reader, I used to dream about writing and sharing my own stories with the world. Publishing was a far off and intimidating goal until Amazon opened the gates! I love that I get real feed back from my fans on my books instead of some guy behind a desk who studies market trends. I write to share my dreams with the world and now I can. My first series is a Young Adult Post-apocalypse story. I love writing about the growth of characters faced with such huge challenges and plan to continue future stories in wrecked worlds. It's a new do it yourself world in so many industries so never stop believing in your dreams and do it yourself!

I had already read the first two books in this series, and so my natural tendency is to continue to the end of the series. With this particular series, I have been in awe of the talent of the author. The realism and portrayal of humanity at is core has kept me coming back as I follow along with each group of students as they escape California during a total technological meltdown that literally paralyzes the North American Continent. With the ending of the last two books fresh in my mind, I was more than anxious to begin reading Home.

I really enjoyed the action in this book. I thought it was well put together and wrapped up the first two books nicely. I felt that the end was perfect and I was really able to connect with each of the characters. I felt like the book could have used some more editing, but knowing that Theresa Shaver is an indie author, I know many of those books are self-edited, so I tried to have patience when I found a sentence that caused me to stumble. All in all it was a great book!!

Honestly I usually have a harder time giving this 5 stars ⭐️ but even though it’s a simple & predicable book I really enjoyed it so it’s getting 5 stars ⭐️

In this book the 2 groups of high school kids the ones from the land and the ones who took the boat to get home, are all together and trying to come up with a plan to save their home town that was taken over by a gang.

Emily’s ex boyfriend who was trying to be a better person was shot and killed, and her new boyfriend David is having a very hard time with all the killing & death. But after they found some of the horrible things the bad guys had been doing, the kids decided what they had to do was worth it.

They came up with a plan and slowly started to free farm after farm, the adults didn’t want them to do anymore but they refused to sit back until everyone was freed in town. Then their kind friend Cooper was shot at the end of the book, just as the Canadian troops came into town to liberate them… a little late. But since Coopers dad was the one who let the bad guys in he didn’t feel comfortable staying so he planned on joining the soldiers once he was healed
Up.

I felt bad for Lisa and didn’t think her mom should have just got away with no punishment since she seemed to be the one making young teen girls have sex with the bad guys. Then for her to just go “work” with the soldiers was gross 🤢

Oh well even though most of those poor kids had crappy parents, the kids really grew and matured taking on more than any teen ever should have to!

They have become a close family and it’s been fun hearing their stories!

Home (Stranded #3) — Theresa Shaver (Prologue + 16 chapters) June 21-23, 2018

This is the third book in the Stranded series and it is the weakest one of the bunch. I read this as a part of the omnibus. I just like it when the students are on the move. Being in one place isn’t as much fun.

This story begins with a prologue and ends after the climax event (can’t remember if it was a couple of weeks or a month.) I don’t want to spoil the events in this book, but the plot follows along like the first. The high schoolers have an adventure involving their townsfolk and there are repercussions with the things they have witnessed and done to protect themselves.

The third book felt more predictable and there were not many surprises at the end of the book.

Still, if you have read the first two books you need to read the third to bring some closure. There is at least another book after the third book, but this one brings the ending that is needed. Book one and two end in cliffhanger-like situations (especially book two,) so it’s pretty much nearly a must to read this one to tie up loose ends.

There is still a lot of violence and implied graphic scenes in this book.

Two stars.

We finally made it to the part where our heroic teens join forces to liberate their town. And man did this book open with a bang. In 'Sea' I slowly came around to liking Mason, the jerk QB who deep down is a nice guy who was taking steps to become a better person. So let me tell you that I was shocked when the author killed him off in the first chapter! 😱 Unexpected and shocking...almost Walking Dead kind of random. It set the tone for the rest of the book.

Over the course of the book the teens work to free their parents and neighbours and there's both hope and depravity. You have people like Quinn's grandfather and the Doctor who are rational. Then there's Lisa's mom who started a whorehouse and is helping the enemy. Some of the adults make it harder for the teens to execute their well thought out plan and I'm curious to see the shift in dynamics in future works.

Also...Alex chose Quinn? Yes I know he's a good guy but I was rooting for Cooper.

Bought part 4 of the series already. 😁

After an EMP hit ten students fight to get home to Canada from Southern California. Five go by land and five by sea. Those journeys are told in books 1 and 2 of this series this is what they find when they get home. The friends all thought all would be good once they made it home. What they find is that their town has been taken over by a gang who is holding all the people hostage. The fight is not over yet as they plan to save their town. The characters continue to evolve in this book. We find out more about the kids families and it explains alot. I love the way Shaver writes and how she focuses on the characters growth and emotions. Very well developed stories that keep you wanting more.

not as good as the first two books

Considering the mass murders and other violent and disgusting behaviors conducted by the gang, I was annoyed by what the doctor said in the ending. It came off as arrogant and preachy, and was contradictory to the lack of supplies the doctor had available to him for treating the hostages in his own barn. The only way I could have stomached that very small kernel of truth is if the doctor was caring for the entire community, to include those living in Lisa’s house.

Home - Stranded BK 3

I loved this book the best of the series so far. Lots of tears, and some good humour thrown in as well. I look forward to the continuation of the series and hope my favorite characters are still in it.
The editing in this one was not as good as the first two books but still decent.
Again- I truly wished for a map. The trend had one and it would have been awesome to have a growing map that additions were made to in each off the chapters.

I would like to think that an EMP going off wouldn't turn the world into such total chaos. I mean we existed before everything went so electronic and I think we still know how to live that way. I also don't think that all could have taken place in six weeks. But it was an entertaining story and I liked the characters. Just not too realistic.

Great read movie material!

I love Theresa Shavers writing on many levels. Being born in Edmonton and now living in Vancouver i loved the Canadian references. I also loved the characters good and bad. This series would make a great movie and i am looking forward to reading more of her work

Excellent sequel

It was everything I expected. Being as it's a YA novel, I thought it was very good even for an adult. The whole series was exciting. Only problem was having to go back in time to the original blackout & start over with new characters adventures. Easily overcome after the first chapter of each installment.

Satisfying

This one is a little less suspenseful than the previous two. You still get to build up some anticipation before the end but I was much less on edge reading this book. It feels like a satisfying conclusion but I know there are more books in this series so I'll have to read those to see what
happens next. Can't wait!

Again, another good read in the Stranded series! In this third book in the series is about what is left of their 2 groups that have made it home, they are still not safe. They may be physically and emotionally exhausted, but the fight isn't over. They now have to fight for their family, friends, neighbors, and community...at least what is left of them.

As with all of Theresa's book that I have read I really enjoyed this. There are typos and spelling errors. Amd yes some of it can be a bit unrealistic. But I still love her books. Can't wait to read the rest.

A good read

The teenagers work together and rise to the occasion. The plot is a little thin as too many risks work out just fine, too many potential problems never happened, but in the end it was enjoyable.--Steve Cole (Leanna's husband)

Fighting For Home and Family

As two of the group find themselves facing the biggest fight. The loss of family and friend her to handle, not as too deal with everything they had to do just to get home free their families from an evil gang that had taken over their town.

I didn't think they would succeed as well as
they did. They learn the value of friendship and loyalty of family. They deal with horrible
situations of things that occur and make it on the other side...

This series was really good, about high-schoolers from Canada on a Disneyland trip when an EMP strikes and their trials during their journey home.

Good read

Who would think in this day and age that a group of teenagers could be so resilient to take on evil all by themselves.

Don't you just hate when you start reading a series and get invested in the characters and then before you can say plot twist something happens that gets you so upset with the book. All you can say is what was the author thinking?? Why did she do that!!! Well that is how I felt when reading book 3 Home. Characters evolve and you find them in the soft spot in your heart and whammy, devastation. It didn't stop me from reading but left my emotions raw.
Like the first two books in the series, this one is full of life and death action and suspense. Is it really plausible for teenagers to actually be able to accomplish as much as the story indicates, probably not. But it is still a good read.
