Rate this book
Where you lead, she will follow. Today’s teen girls are facing more pressure than any generation before. We want so much to help them navigate the barrage of cultural messages coming at them every day and show them how to filter what they hear, see, and experience through the truth of God’s Word. But where do we start? Perhaps you’ve felt God tugging at your heart to disciple teen girls, either one-on-one or in the context of a group in your church or community, but all you see are How can I disciple someone else if I’ve never been discipled? How do I know where to start? What do we do when we meet together? Or if you’ve been discipling girls for a while, you may be asking how you can take it to the next level. Show Her the Way will guide you along a journey that may have simply begun with good intentions and a heart to serve but has the potential to lead girls into a lifelong relationship with Jesus Christ and a future of ministering to others. You are called to disciple the next generation of young women. Whether you’re a girls’ minister, a volunteer leader in your church, a mom, or simply someone who cares and wants to make a difference, let this book serve as a trusted guide to discipling the teen girls in your life.

Personally found the book pretty surface level and repetitive. I think Mary Margaret is a great speaker ( I heard her at a conference and that’s why I grabbed the book) but I wish she would have focused more on the how not they why.

Some interesting and helpful hints in here but ultimately seemed repetitive. Definitely a good start for someone wanting to do Girls’ Ministry but should be a supplement to other research. Does a good job with the basics though.

For someone that has served in Student Ministries for many years and is currently serve in that capacity, this book was an encouragement and often challenging to not get stuck in a rut.

“So often, we’re trying to remedy the symptoms, but not the root issue. It’s a heart issue. A Holy Spirit issue. A relationship with Jesus issue.”

“Our calling is to be faithful right where God has planted us until He releases us for something else. Whatever you’re facing be faithful right where He has placed you. God is fully aware of your circumstances and nothing catches Him off guard. Ask Him for wisdom, and trust Him with the direction He gives you.”

“Whatever you do, don’t look to the right or left all the time and compare your discipleship journey to that of anyone else. Your story is unique. The story God is writing in your life is unlike that of anyone else.”

A great resource for high school ministry, particularly for young women. Inspirational and an empathetic perspective on nurturing and guiding young women through life's challenges. West's heartfelt stories and practical advice provide valuable insights into fostering resilience and self confidence in daughters. The book's emphasis on the importance of fostering open communication and a supportive environment for young girls is great.

Great resource for student ministry. Pick it up after starting a tween bible study for girls and love the author. Honestly I would recommend this book to all women in the church, whether they have ever considered discipling girls before or not. Show Her the Way is filled with practical, gospel-centered encouragement to help each of us care for the next generation of women.

4.5. Mary Margaret West was right when she said this was a “Guide to Discipling Teen Girls.” She provided biblical support and practical ways to disciple. She also made a point to remind the reader that they need to be poured into so they can be pouring into others. If you don’t know where to start with discipleship, or what it looks like, this guide is a great place to start!

One of the best books on discipleship I've ever read! Mary Margaret does a great job painting a picture of what biblical discipleship is and what it can look like, while also giving very practical tools for doing girls ministry, having hard conversations, etc. This is one I will read over and over and reference back to often.

This is a great tool for women who are looking to start discipleship with teen girls, but aren’t sure where to begin! Everything is laid out nicely, with guides and testimonials that show how deeply important discipleship really is.

I will absolutely be using this to help guide and train my volunteers who have a heart for youth and girls ministry :)
