My first book Rise Again After Divorce: The 5 Keys For Women To Heal Wounds, Resurrect Dreams And Create A Life Full Of Love is Book 1 in the Help your Cellves Empowerment Series, and is available on Amazon as an ebook, paperback and audio here https://amazon.co.uk/dp/B07KQ3ZSG8 - UK https://amazon.com/dp/B07KQ3ZSG8 - USA and international
It wasn’t bad, just not what I needed. I was able to pick up a few tips that will help my own self-awareness, but this book is aimed more toward women who didn’t expect a divorce or didn’t want a divorce and are now unsure how to move on with life.
So much wisdom contained in one little book. As someone who went through a divorce 20+ years ago, I can highly recommend this book for anyone, but especially women, in the unenviable position of going through one now. Even if the divorce is your own decision, it’s still a painful period of growth, and the words, advice, exercises, thoughts, etc., contained in this book will make the emotional process feel more purposeful and less flounder-y. The author’s visualization exercise for making sound/healthy decisions seemed especially helpful, and I’m going to incorporate that into my life immediately in lieu of static pros and cons lists.
In reality, this book seems like it would be appropriate for anybody going through any sort of directional change in their life because it focused on assessing things as they are, accepting the situation, processing the loss, focusing on what can be changed/controlled, how to find your self again, how to make life as positive as possible, taking responsibility for thoughts and actions, how to accept feelings and let go of guilt and shame, how to practice self-care, why it’s important to put the oxygen mask on ourselves first, rethinking rejection and realizing it’s just someone else making a different choice that maybe doesn’t have anything to do with us anyway, breaking the co-dependency rescuer-victim-persecutor triangle, letting go of judgements, creating joy, how to forgive, getting unstuck, etc., etc.
All in all, this was a fantastic book and one worth reading a few times over.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect review.
This book is designed for those women have been through divorce and are struggling with helplessness, hopelessness or low self worth. The goal is to feel whole and content with yourself, to find peace with the divorce and the changes it has brought to you, to get in control of your life and live the life you dream of. The book is separated into five sections each building on the next. The chapters include topics such as developing self worth, coming to terms with what has happened to you, determining what is holding you back, developing a positive vision of the future and surrounding yourself with the supports you need to make it happen.
I found this a general improve your life book and I could see it as beneficial to those struggling with the same issues after other losses. I liked the writing style and found it clear and easy to understand,d. The information provided was positive and the activities doable. I was particularly impressed with the real life experiences used as examples. In addition there is a section at the end that summarize s the main points and the a section of the anticipated results. This helps identify what the reader should be focusing on and by giving the expected results it helps motivate readers. I think this is a great book and many people can benefit from the gems of knowledge and in sights provided.

In her book, ‘Rise Again After Divorce’, Sara Gibbons shows women how to move on from divorce to a joyful, truly fulfilling life. Through a series of steps, the ‘5 Keys’, the reader learns not only how to analyse what ‘went wrong’ but how to progress to the self-fulfilment she deserves and a life full of joy and love.
Sara Gibbons’ extensive background in counselling and personal development shines through on every page, as does her own experience of divorce. It is this combination that makes the book particularly valuable, written as it is from the heart as well as the head, equipping the reader with the powerful tools she needs to recalibrate her life post-divorce.
Sara discusses such important areas as how to rebuild confidence post-divorce and make your dreams a reality, rather than spend time going over and over what went wrong.
Given the breadth of Sara’s background, her skillset also encompassing such areas as health, nutrition and natural therapy, it’s no surprise to read that Sara has further books planned, including one on health. I’m sure I won’t be the only reader of ‘Rise Again After Divorce’ eagerly awaiting the next project from this engaging and empathetic writer.
So that you have an idea of my background, I've worked as a psychologist for close to twenty years now. I have a Masters in Clinical Psychology and have worked in public health, private practice, and many other arenas. I usually steer people away from self-help titles as many of what I've seen are impractical. This is not the case for Ms Gibbons' book.
"Rise Again After Divorce" was honestly jaw-dropping to read. There's enough down-to-earth strategies in here for three books, in my humble opinion. Not to say it's overwhelming or too much either! It's broken down step-by-step, which is an absolute must for any self-help book. People need to be able to have a manageable pace at making changes, discovering insights, dealing with the myriad of emotions that will come up again and again.
This is an absolutely fantastic book that I would thoroughly recommend to anyone. The fact that I am not divorced, nor female (which is likely the target audience, given the title) but still found plenty of useful hints and tips, says it all.
Sara built a five keys framework to help herself recover from the divorce and to be the best of herself possible. However the framework is more than just for divorce. It is for when we think we are stuck in a horrible situation and looking for a way out. The framework is solid and the recommendation is practical. Highly recommended.
This book was very informational. I am going through it and it has really helped me see that there is more to life than feeling sorry for yourself all the time. It was very well written and I flew through it with no problems.
