*Heiji in an AROMOR (& that Shinchi look-a-like)*

1. lets appreciate the fact that makoto thought that the teacup that serena made was a vase.
2. also i love how the cases intertwine so I’m in love with this.
3. first of all lets appreciate the imposter of More in the attache-case and the fact there was treasure map.
4. i wasn’t that into the case but maybe because i was sick.
5. BUT the next case was my faaaav (as always because heir was there)
6. i did figure out how did the culprit carried the body (almost did)
7. also WHERE DID HEIJI GET THAT TAN SKIN? OMG THIS IS THE MYSTERY I WANNA SOLVE. i mean i know his beauty is all from his mother.

the next case is another treasure hunt + murder so might as well start the next volume !
as i said before; conan is an amazing manga to read, its like a gate to another world where the only stress is how to murder will be solved.

Case 1: the murder in the closet is solved.
Case 2: Kogoro gets invited to a pension to open a mysterious case. Once Kogoro arrives someone elsse already picked it up in his name and he is found being hanged in his hotel room. Is this death connected to the dead body which was found only days before in the woods?
Case 3: 3 men want to meet a rival at a restaurant to talk about their businesses. Though he never shows up but he is found dead at the beach.
Case 4: Conan wants to visit Heiji for a tournament in Osaka. Someone is murdered there and Heiji wants to solve the crime before Conan arrives.
Case 5: During sightseeing in Osaka Conan and Heiji meet a tourist group. Later one of the men is burned alive on the castle of Osaka.

This volume picks up on the murder mystery from volume 30. This was a case that we as the reader is aware who the killer is but it is up to Detective Conan to deduce who, why and most importantly how. The next case involves a Richard Moore look-alike! Now that would be enough of an adventure in and of itself, but what happens when the imposter shows up dead? Twists and mysteries abound in this main story of Case Closed. The next story is another beach murder! The more I think about it…the more I realize this is very much like a real life detective show, because the places in which these murders take place are very much in line with where bodies are found. The next case within this volume is a murder during the kendo tournament which involves Harley. Harley’s ultra-competitive nature has him trying to solves the case before Conan (aka Jimmy) can arrive at the event. It’s an interesting way to present the who done it caper. All in all its another great adventure for the case cracking team! This volume ends with another cliff-hanger, so just be warned.

Aoyama Gosho; DETECTIVE CONAN [Meitantei Conan #31]

e/read online; genre: { manga, mystery, shounen }; shelves: |comics, GN, manga, manhua, manhwa|

General Synopsis:
As mentioned above, I am going to write a proper review for this soon, but I have a few books ahead of this one in the queue, so I cannot stop reading DC NOW! That's sacrilege. I have decided to read all the chapters available up to now (we are almost to 1000!) As you can see, I am totally fangirling over here and I don't care, because this is one of my favorite manga series, ever! But all of this aside, there are a few things I wanted to list so I don't need to go back and look everything up when I do finally sit down and write my fangirl review. ✌🏻

V.31, includes Files 307 - 317

DO NOT click on the spoiler link if you don't want to read all the cases in this volume, because it will ruin it for you. On the other hand, if you're a fan like me or are looking for a certain case (and please note, these are how I have set the cases), etc. click away, that's why it's there.

Another spoiler link, so don't click if you don't want to ruin this manga. I am going to include the characters introduced or as the series continues are in this volume. Personally, I think us DC fans love certain characters more than other (yes, Heiji, I mean you!), so sometimes when we are re-reading this series (like all the time!) you might wish to start at a specific case or start when a certain character is involved.

Characters in this volume:

Personal Opinion:
#1, I never call this CASE CLOSED. If you do, you're not a true fan of this series, so don't even bother reading my review or my personal opinions. I'm sorry if I offend you, but you offended me first by telling me you want to read CASE CLOSED or you just love Jimmy.

#2, as you can tell by #1, I read this online. I would never waste my money buying a manga series in english that cannot get the name correct and mess up the main characters to make it appear more "ENGLISH." I am so happy I don't run a blog and this isn't a review on Sailor Moon, #1, because I have a huge soap box tirade against DiC. I also don't think there is anything against reading something online. Comics, which is what manga are, are meant to be read and shared and sometimes paying over $10 is too much in my opinion. Plus, I read the newest chapters as soon as they are released from Japan, because I would never miss a release of DC. So this is my personal shout out to you translators from me, Thank You!

Detektiv Conan #31: 3.75 Stars
[6.23 - really great!]

specific ratings will come later. But pretty much the first case in here was full of 5s (good) and then the second was full of 6s (really great) and so was the third. But the two last chapters were 7s (amazing!) so this rating felt somewhat appropriate.

The episodes I saw in the anime are nice to see again in the manga. Ai understands Ran's good soul and finally shows up with dignity. The last chapters are set in Osaka and Heiji manages to solve a case on his own. Always enjoy reading Meitantei Conan.

I don't really have much to say about this volume. I was mostly so bored by it that I wasn't all that motivated to finish it. I will say that the ending is WILD, so I'm looking forward to see where that goes in the next volume.

Conan could never solve my murder. I have so much junk in my pockets that doesn't relate to my daily needs or actions, plus I get lost easily and forget to turn things off all the time.

Nothing super exciting in this volume. The last chapter does start an interesting case featuring Osaka Castle, Heiji, and the nerdiest tour group ever.

Some of the mysteries were far too ridiculous. I actually spoke out loud on several occasions because of how crazy some of these explanations were.

THE POTTERY CLASS MURDER: A GAME OF NERVES
While attending a pottery class, Ran and Sonoko work on gifts for their loved ones, unaware that a dark crime is unfolding. A man is found strangled to death with a necktie and hidden in a closet. Conan, certain of the culprit’s identity, boldly confronts them alone. However, without concrete evidence, he must outmaneuver the murderer before they strike again.

THE CURSED LETTER AND THE DOPPELGÄNGER’S DEATH
At a secluded inn near a foreboding forest, Kogoro, Ran, and Conan encounter a bizarre mystery: an imposter posing as Kogoro is investigating a supposed suicide from five years ago. The case is steeped in eerie details—a red winter coat in summer, a cryptic letter with a chilling curse, and a missing man who was never seen again. When the imposter himself is found hanged, Conan suspects a deeper conspiracy, linking the present crime to the past tragedy.

THE BEACHSIDE MURDER: A SILENT CALL FROM THE WAVES
A relaxing beach trip turns grim when a lifeguard’s missing colleague is found dead on the shore, his body entangled in a fisherman’s net and covered in scratches. The only clue? A chilling phone call where the only sound was the crashing waves. Conan must untangle the mystery before the tide washes away the truth.

THE VANISHING BODY AT THE KENDO TOURNAMENT
Heiji invites Conan to watch his kendo tournament, but the event is overshadowed by the discovery of a drunken man’s corpse in the storage room. Before the investigation can begin, the body mysteriously vanishes—only to reappear in the shower room without anyone noticing the move. As Heiji races to solve the case, Heiji’s team must fight for victory without their ace, adding pressure to both the match and the mystery.

The first case was about an impostor Mouri. It was another murder mystery for Conan to figure out. This case was alright. There were a few comedic moments in it which made it fun.

The next case was related to the beach involving the Professor and the detective boys. Nothing flashy in this case.

The third case was primarily about Heiji. A murder occurs in the storage room at a Kendo tournament which Heiji is participating in. Heiji has to find the murderer before his tournament and before Conan comes to beat him to solving the case. It is always nice to have Heiji in a case :)

There was also a start to a final case.

I'm probably going to just start highlighting my favorite entries in the volumes at this point, because while a lot is done to try and make all the cases seem unique, there does get to be a bit of sameyness after a while, and the less memorable cases fade into the background easier and easier over time.

In the case of this volume, it's definitely the return of the Gunma police officer. Mouri arrives at a hotel to solve a mystery only to find that he's already there. But the fake Mouri doesn't last long, and now they've got a new mystery on their hands.

Yamamura is not one of my favorite characters, but I love his fanboy side-kick-role when Mouri is around.

Wash, rinse, repeat.

After 31 volumes, the formula for any chapter for Case Closed (other than the main stories involving the MIB) are pretty much chiseled in stone, and it's no different to any of the cases in this volume.

The only thing of note are:
-Is it really possible for someone to jump and land on the back of a katana blade??
-If Osaka Castle had something like that happen, the tour there might have been a bit more interesting....
