And the Vultures Sang a Warrior's Ballad

Rate this book
Anand is a middle-class boy who experiences a strange phenomenon. Whenever he sleeps at night, he goes back 1500 years in time and wakes up in the 'past' as Narasimha, the son of Vimshati Veera Deva-the last warrior of the Vimshati clan. Whenever he sleeps in the 'past' as Narasimha, he wakes up in the 'present' as Anand.

In the 'past', as he struggles to become the finest warrior in history, he learns that he was dissolved in the ruins of history whereas his father's legacy is still preserved in the 'present'. Through the pointlessness of his training and a complicated romantic life, he learns about a war which would wipe out the entire kingdom in the 'past'. His desperation to stay alive makes him take certain decisions which would affect his life in ways beyond imagination.

Full time action and thriller

An awesome work with all the emotions mixed in optimised proportions. I could literally be in the Narasimha's shoes and experience every trauma and excitement he has gone through. Well I got more than what I asked for. Thanks Ranganath for reminding me with the true colours of life.

The book starts off very interestingly, with a unique story line, but loses its edge as it progresses. The character developments of some characters seemed very strange, bringing in angles that do not support the story till then. The storyline gets some cinematic touches as it develops, which was a downer.

A light and breezy read overall. Good story telling from a debutant author.

Completed it less than 12 hours(never did it before).
Coming to the book its one of the most commonly used language with very routine plots. Though the author didn't concentrate much on the details and left it plain to the readers with basis description. Yet he succeeded in having the reader at the edge of there nerve at many situations pushing them to go further without any break. They were some lags in between and we sense a feeling of routine in narration. Didn't fulfill the concept of "One soul, two bodies"
