Dahlia Dawson is a spunky young woman with a zest for life, but an illness threatens her dreams of a bright future. With her bucket list in hand, she sets out to spend Christmas at one of several Christmas Cottages along the breathtaking Chestnut Lake. Expecting the brisk mountain air, hot cups of coffee, and a roaring fire to be her only company, Dahlia’s dreams of a Christmas escape do not include a grumpy, stiff neighbor who seems to hate life… and Christmas itself. Realizing her purpose for coming to Clove Cottage, Dahlia becomes determined, with the aid of a wise old caretaker and his crazy dog, to show the handsome Nixon Chambers the true meaning of a magical Christmas. ~Christmas comes only once year, but Christmas miracles can last a lifetime.~
DeAnna Kinney is what you could call an eclectic writer at its best. If she can dream it, she can write it. Her main focus is YA Paranormal but also writes New Adult and Adult Romance, Action Adventure, Children's books, and even an Apocalyptic Christian Thriller Romance. She considers herself as fun-loving and a bit peculiar. Besides writing, she loves reading, all things purple, Star Wars, acting like a goofball with all of her friends, and dancing while she cooks (she can see her kids rolling their eyes as we speak). She believes whole-heartedly that chocolates and a good book go hand in hand. And, having experienced it herself, believes utterly in the power of true love. She lives in the lovely North Carolina with her husband, four kids, and a dog named Link (aka Monster).
She is very hands-on with her fans and thrives on their interaction.
Her upcoming works include:
*Maybe something about Zombies, Bullying, and perhaps the end of the world, although not necessarily in that order.
Completing her bucket list before an illness takes her life, Dahlia spends Christmas alone in the woods. In a beautifully decorated cabin that boasts a perfect view with a fireplace and snow. What she does not expect to happen is the feelings she shares with the renter next door. Nixon is trying to get away from the festive time of year, taking his time in his cabin as a time of solace. But the pink haired beauty from next door knocks him off kilter and ends up becoming so much more. Can the season of miracles help the two find love and a future together? I absolutely fell in love with the characters from the opening pages. Truly a heart warming story for the holiday season.
Christmas at Clove Cottage is the perfect Christmas read with a twist. The bubbly main character, Dahlia, rents a Christmas cottage looking to have a nice holiday. This becomes complicated when Dahlia meets her handsome neighbor, Nixon, who seems to be focused on blocking out the holidays all together. As Dahlia and Nixon begin to warm up to each other, Dahlia fears that a secret she’s carrying could cause her to end up hurting Nixon. The book is a quick read with much needed romance and Christmas miracles!
For all that needed to happen in this book, it is actually quite short. It is written the dual perspectives of the hero and the heroine. She is a young woman who is working on her bucket list because she is dying from a rare form of muscle cancer. One of the things she wants to do before she dies is spend Christmas alone at a little remote cabin. Even though her family objects, that is what she's going to do. Nixon, the hero, is really a jerk for most of the book, unfortunately. He wasn't treated well by his last girlfriend, and he takes it out on Christmas and the world. I thought the story had too much telling rather than showing things happen. A story like this really had the potential to be one that could tug at the Heartstrings, with a young woman who is dying and maybe perhaps finding the love of her life before she passes. But with so much telling, there was emotional distance. And I didn't quite buy the insta- love, especially considering what the relationship was like before that. The story definitely needed better development of both the characters and the love story.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
Dahlia Dawson is lively, energetic, spirited young woman with an agenda to finish! Her bucket list! With her rare form of cancer, she doesnt know how much time she has left. Last two things are, Staying in a quaint cottage at Christmas by herself, and to fall in love. She found a wonderful place to stay at the Christmas themed Cottages at Chestnut Lake! there she found new found friends in Topper, the old Caretaker, and his dog, Popeye. Her neighbor, Nixon Chambers, is a private, angry man, who has nothing to do with people. His heart slowly melts as he watches all the joy and fun she has playing with that large great dane, Popeye. This is a short, sweet romance, that I wish it was longer. Kelli Tager voiced all the fun, love and emotions to this story. She was pleasant and I enjoyed listening. 🎧audiobookobsessionreviewer🎧
This was a wonderful enemies to lovers type novella. Dehlia has been given cancer diagnosis, but instead of dwelling on it too much, she does something she has wanted to do for a while. She rents a cabin in the woods with a grumpy neighbour included. She is a klutz and he has to help with that a few times. They quickly go from avoiding each other to wanting to spend time with each other. I was not expecting the ending. I enjoyed the two points of view as well.
Kelli Tager did a nice job with the narration. Overall, her voices were distinct. On occasion, I had to remember who's point of view she was talking in, as her male voice on occasion sounded a little more feminine.
I received a copy of this audiobook at my request, and I have voluntarily left this review.
I was smiling as I read Christmas at Clove Cottage. It has all the elements I love for a great holiday novella - an enemy to lovers romance, gorgeous winter setting, a beautiful, big, goofy dog, and a hunky, ‘ba-humbug’ scrooge. Let’s not forget the cute and slightly eccentric female main character, Dahlia, who really is the highlight of the story. I loved her. Battling her own issues, she’s always bright and positive, and although Nixon is rude and grouchy, he is unable to resist her charms. Throw in some Christmas Magic, and the story is a delightful, feel-good read, with plenty of humor.
A quick read with all the makings for a great holiday read and it certainly delivers. Dahlia is set to spend the holidays in all things Christmassy in Chesnut lake but Nixon, her neighbor, seems determined to ignore the holidays altogether.

Sweet story of a young woman battling a devastating illness and a young man battling loneliness...and a Great Dane dog bringing them together. New-to-me narrator does a wonderful job with all characters and immerses you in the story. Worth the listen. I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Dahlia wanted a Christmas full of beauty and magic. Renting a cottage along. Chestnut Lake Didn’t expect her neighbor be a bah hum guy that hated Christmas and life. With help from a care taker and a dog, can they change Nixon out look. A cute simple story of seeing the beauty in Christmas
Sometimes a quick listen is just what I need to keep me going, and DeAnna Kinney has it with this novella! Dahlia Dawson is terminally ill, and upon her diagnosis created a bucket list. One thing she wants to do is go away to a cabin alone for Christmas, and this is the time she does it. But is it all she thought it would be? She meets the cranky neighbor and his dog, and Nixon, the handsome man who comes by to help her. Even with those close by, things are not what she expects until she figures out exactly why she is there. This book has a wonderful message, loving characters and that feeling of warmth I love. It's my first listen by this author and I will be watching for more.
Kelli Tager finds her voice with this narration. I had not heard her before, but she fits in these characters so easily, it's like I am watching it unfold. I enjoyed her voices, her pace and look forward to more narrations by her.
