Ralph Macchio is an American comic book editor and writer, who has held many positions at Marvel Comics, including executive editor. Macchio is commonly associated with Daredevil, the Spider-Man line of comics and the popular Ultimate Marvel line. In Macchio's words, he "made probably the longest run on Daredevil of anyone."
Macchio is not related to the actor Ralph Macchio, but is nicknamed "Karate Kid" after that actor's famous role.
The first story by Macchio was ok. Solid geddon story but didnt offer anything new. The Miles story by Bendis was really cool and eas why I really enjoyed this issue haha.
The oneshot story was alright. It was fun seeing a bunch of spider-people working together, but I found the story to be lacking. The heroes beat the bad guys pretty easily, so it never felt like the stakes were high. The reprint of Spider-Man #1 in the second half is what redeemed this issue for me. I've been on a Spider-Man kick after seeing the new film, so I enjoyed Miles's story.
So I think my biggest mistake for this issue was heading into it thinking it was a tie-in for the Spider-Geddon series. Stupid, I know. The name gives it away and everything. However, in my defense there have been a lot of spinoffs to Spider-Geddon, so it was an easy mistake to make. My point is I went in there expecting one plot, got really confused, and realized I had something completely different on my hands. Looking back on it and understanding what’s going on…it was okay? I get that they’re trying to amp up the excitement for the movies (and let me tell you, the good rating on rotten tomatoes is doing a great job on its own – I went from tempted to see it to really wanting to see it) but it sort of fell flat. I think it would have been better to let the new movie/series stand on its own here.
Ok. Story with the spider warriors but seemed a little cheesy. I think they need a real threat to test there resolve out of costume. Loved the bonus miles morales story. Now that was true spider-man life.
