Vacation goals…I have them. Real life is not cooperating.I don’t require poolside margaritas under a fancy cabana to have a good time. All I wanted was ten ghost-free days to enjoy sightseeing New Orleans with my boyfriend, to admire art galleries, listen to live music, and eat as many beignets as I can before my pants stop buttoning.I might as well have asked Santa for a unicorn. Within thirty-six hours of setting foot in the Big Easy, an ancient ghost warns me of a murderous spirit lurking in the city, a strip-mall psychic tells me I look pregnant (I blame the beignets) and, oh, yeah, a dead body shows up on the set of my boyfriend’s TV show and he lands himself at the top of the suspect list.If this karma, I must have been an ax murderer in a previous life.

Scarlet is visiting Lucas in NOLA on the set of his show. A murder occurs and Lucas is the prime suspect. Scarlet insists on investigating over Lucas’ objections. That I think was the annoying part of the book for me, Scarlett not acknowledging Lucas’ feelings and how her meddling could make his situation worse. Anyway she meddles, murder solves, she discovers a new power.

I recently reviewed Betwixt which has a variety of novellas set in the town, and is a bridge between Beechwood Harbor Magic Mysteries and the Beechwood Harbor Ghost Mysteries , and introduces Scarlet.  Ghost Hunter Next Door is the first in her series.  The books of both series are in Kindle Unlimited.

In When Good Ghosts Get the Blues,  Scarlet continues her personal development. The setting is New Orleans where Lucas is working and she comes to vacation a week with him.  Of course, something goes wrong on the mansion being rebuilt which is ghost related.  We don't get much of Beechwood Harbor, but Scarlet's ghost friends do come to her rescue.

I feel even though she was on vacation and Lucas didn't want her to get involved, I can't believe she didn't ask more questions of the ghosts faster, especially Gayle. Scarlet was slow on the uptake compared to usual.  As previously,  the real revelations are in the last chapter, after the mystery is solved,  both for learning about Scarlet's personal talents and her relationship growth.  Somehow I wish this was slightly more interwoven with the story all along.  It continues to be fun and I'll be along for the ride.

Narration:
Amanda Ronconi is a well-loved narrator and handles this series well.    Scarlet, Lucas, Flapjack, Gwen and Hayward are all unique and now familiar to me.  I listened at my usual 1.5x speed. Her performance added to my enjoyment.

Poor Flapjack and Hayward. They tried so hard to change Scarlett’s mind, but she’s determined to have a ghost free vacation. The Big Easy, chocolate and romance lose their luster when Lucas is accused of murder! Before you know it Gwen, Flapjack, and Hayward will come to Scarlet’s aid as the case against Lucas worsens.

The case took center stage, and NOLA became a backdrop despite a few fun scenes in the beginning. This was an intense one with all clues pointing directly at poor Lucas. He frustrated me. I felt like he went down without a fight or had too much faith it would all work out. I wanted Lucas to get mad, but he’s just not that kind of guy. Ah well, it is one trait Scar likes best about him; he is truly a nice guy.

Clues, dark entities, New Orleans witches and more await you in this fun, light paranormal cozy. We gain more insight into what Scarlett is capable of, and I am eager for her to embrace and master some of her abilities besides speaking to ghosts and solving cases.

When Good Ghosts Get the Blues was a fun, addictive cozy mystery with paranormal elements and twists that will keep you listening.

This is Garrett’s second series set in Beechwood and it’s fast becoming a favorite. Amanda Ronconi once again narrates and I just love her for these cozy mysteries. From Scarlett to the different ghosts she makes the story pop and pulls me in. The length of these audios make them perfect for day trips and weekend chores. Picking up shortly after the conclusion of the previous story, Scarlet is going on a week’s vacation to New Orleans with boyfriend Lucas, where he is working. She is insistent the trip be ghost-free, so Flapjack, Hayward, and Gwen are left home. But of course, the no-ghost zone doesn’t last 24 hours as Scarlet runs into a spirit at Lucas’s project site. The ghost warns that there is a malevolent spirit trapped in the library, so she’s making havoc on the set to keep people from entering. Cue the high-profile murder victim discovered in the library, only this time around Lucas is the primary suspect.

When Good Ghosts Get the Blues is the third entertaining tale in the Beechwood Harbor Ghost Mysteries. I like how Scarlet continues to grow and develop her powers as the series progresses. I also enjoy the fact that Scarlet has found a true friend and confidant in Lucas, who is accepting of her quirks and the supernatural world around him - one he can’t even see. Just when I think Scarlet will make a mess of things, she stays grounded, or she’ll confide in Lucas, giving her a good perspective on any situation. I love the progress of their relationship - steadily moving forward, hiccups and all.

While I think it was pretty silly of Scarlet to expect a ghost-free time in one of the most notorious haunted cities in the U.S., I appreciate that she wants some normal interactions with Lucas. Yet when things go south (suspect of murder!), Scarlet’s ghost besties make their way down to NOLA ready to help. I felt that Scarlet was a bit of an idiot for not utilizing their help more immediately and efficiently. I was also disappointed that she made a few poor decisions in this one - for example, going to the murder scene on her own in the middle of the night?! But it all worked out in the end.

I did enjoy learning more about the magical aspects behind Scarlet’s ability to see ghosts. I wish more had been explored when she was in NOLA, but I understand the need to pull back and take it slow. She did have a long chat with Beechwood’s resident witch, Holly, which I enjoyed.

Narration: I’ve been listening to Amanda Ronconi read the original series and now this spin-off for over a half dozen books, and she has consistently done a wonderful job. The Beechwood Harbor Ghost Mysteries is voiced from the first person POV of Scarlet. Ms. Ronconi captures Scarlet’s kindness, generosity, and determination. But also convincingly voices her frustration when called for. Additionally, Ms. Ronconi gives each of the three primary ghost regulars distinct and appropriate voices, and her male voices are generally deeper and fitting. The only negative I have this time around is that Scarlet and Holly (main character of the original series) sound nearly identical, so when they had their one-on-one conversation in this book, it was a bit confusing.

Overall, When Good Ghosts Get the Blues is another fun story in Ms. Garrett’s entertaining Beechwood Harbor universe. The balance of Scarlet’s personal relationships and growth with murder mysteries and ghosts is ideal. I really enjoyed learning more about Scarlet and her unique gifts.

This series continues to grow on me and so do these characters. If you love the tv show Ghost Whisperer, you’re going to adore this series!

I really enjoyed this third installment! I will say though that a small part of me was a little frustrated with Scarlett’s behavior throughout the book. However, another part of me understood where she was coming from. She was being pulled in so many directions. Dealing with the stress of the situation with Lucas, wanting to spend time with him, and her three ghostly pals just wanting to help her because they care about her and want to see her be happy. I mean, really, it was a circus for Scarlett trying to juggle so many things at once. Especially since the people she cares about the most were involved.

Overall, I really am enjoying being able to delve into this world and love getting to “spend time” with these characters. It’s so charming and I love the banter between the ghosts and Scarlett. Flapjack has really grown on me. 🥰

Also, learning more about Scarlett and her abilities is so much fun! I can’t wait to see what else she’s capable of.

To the next book!

I love this series!

Scarlet is back at the action! I absolutely love the characters in this book especially Scarlet and three ghostly pals! I love Hayward and how he speaks! Him and Flapjack are too much fun together and you can't help but love Gwen and her sweet but meddling heart. I also enjoy how this is truly a cozy without any nasty triggers which is perfect for this year and the Pandemic! Scarlet & her ghostly pals always get up to right amount of mischief and the right amount of adventures!

My review and an extended sample of the audiobook are posted at Hotlistens.com.

In this story, Scarlett heads to the Big Easy for ghost free vacation and to see Lucas at his new location in New Orleans. I’m not always a fan of when authors take their characters to new locations. As a fan of secondary characters, I tend to miss them when the main character travels without them. Sometimes it works for me and sometimes it doesn’t. This one worked.

Scarlett goes to the set with Lucas only to find that the set is once again haunted. And of course, that doesn’t bode well for the ghost free vacation. Oh and when someone shows up dead on the set, things only get worse.

I continue to enjoy this series. I do love Scarlett as a main character. Lucas makes a good love interest. It is a fun series. I love how Scarlett works through the mysteries. We don’t get as much of the other ghosts that are usually around Scarlett, but that doesn’t dampen the fun.

If you’re looking for a fun paranormal cozy mystery, this series is great. I highly recommend it.

Narration
Amanda Ronconi continues to do an amazing job with this series. I love everything about her narration. She’s great at bringing the humor to the forefront of the stories. If you’ve never listened to one of her stories, you’re really missing out.

Scarlett is going on vacation to the Big Easy where her boyfriend, Lucas, is working the security for a home improvement show set. This is a ghost-free trip and she plans to enjoy it. But, of course, the universe laughs at her 'vacation rules' and delivers her a murder in which Lucas is suspect number one and the house for the show is haunted by a dangerous ghost. Not all the beignets in New Orleans are enough for this stressful trip.

When Good Ghosts Get the Blues is book three in the Beechwood Harbor Ghost Mystery series and works best when gotten in order since the main characters are recurring and there are references to past events. Though, yes, in a pinch, one could pick it up and enjoy it to an extent without the others. Also, just a reminder, that this series is a spin off of the Beechwood Harbor Magic Series.

I enjoy light paranormal cozy mysteries for a change up and the floral shop owning Scarlett and her ghost besties are great entertainment. Scarlett is a well-adjusted person except with the idea of keeping a boyfriend like Lucas around since she comes with ghostly baggage. She's waiting for the moment that too much is too much especially with the other supernatural secrets she's keeping from him, but Lucas keeps surprising her and plans to stick around. Most of this book, things are very tense because someone is framing Lucas for murder and the police seem content to accept him as a prime suspect. Lucas wants to ignore the problem while Scarlett thinks dealing with it head on is best.

The New Orleans' setting was fun and I loved being along on Scarlett and Lucas' sight-seeing dates and particularly for those calorie-laced meals.

The murder mystery was front and center though there wasn't much actual investigating on Scarlet's part until later. In the latter half, she did go into sleuth-mode with some surprising help and nab the culprit. I figured out the who quickly enough, but had no idea about the why until the reveal since there was a detail I didn't have that made sense of it all. Right at the end, Scarlett learns something big about her ghost abilities that will be a series game changer. I look forward to seeing where that takes things.

Amanda Ronconi was superb as usual in her narration role. I like her portrayal of all the regular characters and the New Orleans characters had a believable regional accent for southern Louisiana. I get a real kick out of her Flapjack voice- so droll. I'm glad she's doing this series.

All in all, it was fun times as usual and I enjoyed this latest series installment. I can heartily recommend this one to those looking for light paranormal cozy mysteries to enjoy.

My thanks to Tantor Audio for the opportunity to listen to this book in exchange for an honest review.

AudioBook Review:
Stars: Overall 4 Narration 5 Story 4

Oh this is such a FUN series – and Scarlett is starting to show more of her own personality, and I can’t wait to see more of her skills in action. She’s in desperate need of a vacation- AWAY from all of her ghostly pals at Beechwood Harbor. It’s a bitter pill for Flapjack and Hayward to swallow – she’s told them they aren’t invited. All she wants is a quiet bit of time to spend with Lucas – and a change of scenery. And if you can’t find fun among the beignets, jazz and atmosphere of New Orleans – it’s not gonna happen. But, Scarlett being who she is – NEVER gets a break. There’s ghosts galore, a touch of darkness, plenty of beignets and a dead body. Of course a dead body. With all clues pointing to Lucas – who has little to nothing to say for himself except he didn’t do it.

So it’s back to sleuthing for Scarlett, and her erstwhile ghostly friends join the vacation that wasn’t to help dig for the truth. We’re starting to see that Scarlett doesn’t just speak to ghosts, and she’s starting to see that solving murders isn’t all she’s capable of…. There will, I am sure, be more of that in the future as she starts to experiment with and learn her new skills. With dark omens, ghosts, clues, fake clues and more laughs – the story just twists and turns to the end – even after Lucas seems to just ‘go with’ the ‘whatever happens will happen and Scarlett will fix it all” sort of faith in the ‘rightness’ of truth. A bit of a disappointment that – I wanted to see more oomph from Lucas: but I think Scarlett is more comfortable with one solid, unemotional corporeal person in her life – and that’s Lucas to a T. You’ll find this light cozy a ton of fun and laughs, along with a clever mystery working through the moments to the solution.

Narrated by Amanda Ronconi, I have to say that for this sort of light paranormal cozy, she’s a favorite. Not only does she know that characters and their motivations, but her voicing of each is distinct, clear and recognizable: with emotions, dramatic effects (usually from one or the other ghosts) and Scarlett’s interior voices being particular favorites. Not too long – these are great “commute listens’ as you’ll finish up in a week and be entertained as the journey takes you ever closer to the day gig.

Wowza! Another wild adventure for Scarlet and the gang! This time it takes place in the vibrant and bustling city that is Nola or New Orleans. Scarlet is visiting Lucas while Lucas on the job. What was suppose to be something of a romantic vacation turns into a race against time to solve a murder. The main suspect of this horrific event... none other than Lucas! Now Scarlet must find a way to prove that her man, her bae, he boyfriend is innocent. When Trouble comes a knocking, the ghost trio comes ghosting in to help their friend Scarlet.

This was quite an adventure! I love how the book decided to switch it up and try a different location. Scarlet goes through some growth in the book as a character. She starts to loosen up a little more as she navigates through her relationship with Lucas. We see them bond in the beginning of the book but towards the middle where the mystery takes place we see her go in full sleuth mode to solve the murder and prove Lucas's innocence. We see more personality from the ghosts, at least for Flapjack. He isnt just a sassy ghost cat but we see him open up more and bond with Scarlet. He looks out for her and wants the best for her.

Mystery Wise: The mystery itself was a headscratcher at first. I thought it was gonna go one way but then it took a sideroad. Which did make sense I guess in the long run. However, there was a part with a very murderous ghost that created sort of a potential of many possiblities in the future books. I guess time will tell what happens.

Romance Wise: Scarlet and Lucas go through a lot. At least Lucas does. He sort of checks out but doesnt let Scarlet know of that. She wants to help him, but he doesnt want her to get in trouble. Of course you can't be a sleuth without sleuthing lol. But all in all I think at the end we see them grow even closer.

All in all, it was indeed a great book. I am enjoying the series so far and would recommend this book to anyone looking for a cozy mystery series to just dive in with. Something to help enjoy that has magic and mystery. So if Mystery and Magic cozy mystery is what you're looking for then this is the book for you!

Ghost Whisperer Scarlet visits boyfriend and security chief of a house-renovating-TV-show in New Orleans. While he takes a week off his job (*huh* - he can do that) to show her the sights a murder happens at the set. Guess who the main suspect is?

Something about this series got me hooked, and I am overlooking super sloppy editing, a stupid female protagonist who refuses to use the tools she has on hand, an exceptional bland male protagonist, and a story line that has so many holes in it that a Swiss cheese would pale with envy.

This said: for a light read this is a good one, but if you are not in the mood for stomach cramps at things such as people walking from one place to the other, but needing to use a cab "across town" to go back where they came from, then don't touch it, as this happens more often than once, besides other things.

I’d probably give this book 4&1/2 stars. It was very good if its type, and I really enjoyed getting to know the characters a little more. I felt the conclusion of the mystery element was a little rushed, but still very enjoyable if this is a genre you like. These books are keeping me company on audible as I’m doing lots of extra work on my own at the moment!!!

Short cosy mystery

This was entertaining. Our fmc can talk to 👻 ghosts and they get involved in a murder. when her boyfriend is accused of the crime she gets her ghosts to help sort it out.
Great narration.
Unfortunately, audio book and kindle don't sync (because both are borrowed and god forbid Amazon allows us to do it if we didn't pay extra for 1 of their books 😤).

Still enjoying this cozy witchy mystery series, especially the pet ghost cat Flapjack. This book takes place in NOLA, and my only criticism is that, in real life, visitors pig out on beignets and not cronuts.

I loved the change in location in this book! It was fun seeing all the characters in another mystery this time in New Orleans.

The one thing that’s been bothering me this book and the previous one, Scarlet can be so mean to her ghost “friends”. She gets so irritable with them in a drop of a hat. I hope that improves in the next one!

But other than that, this was a fun mystery and excited to see how what Scarlet found out at the end of this one plays out in the fourth book.

As much as I enjoyed this book and this series, it's time to take a break from them. The errors are insane. Not only are there inconsistency issues but there are some serious grammatical errors. Even in the description of this book, the very last sentence the author omitted the word is. Then throughout the book, the same continues. So many times I read a sentence and found a word that was omitted. It makes the book practically unreadable!

The story was good, for the most part, more on that in a bit.

I like the characters and I really like the trio of ghosts. Normally I can't stand snarky characters but Flapjack is just the right amount of snarky so he doesn't annoy me.

What did annoy me was/is Lucas. For one, just because he's Navy doesn't make him some sort of super soldier. I am a Navy Vet, I speak from a place of knowledge. If she wanted to make him that sort of thing, then she should have stated that he's special ops. Then that would be a whole other issue because he's sooooooo "gentle". So gentle, in fact, that he couldn't even be bothered to get worked up over having a murder pinned on him!

Are you freaking kidding me?

Then there is the whole "reveal" over Scarlet's super special powers. I don't know how I feel about it since I've read other books with these types of powers and they were dismal failures.

And Holly, why is she so different in these books than in her books? She seems so sage and wise when talking to Scarlet. She seems like she has her life together when none of this is true in her books.

I'm glad that unlike in the previous book, there wasn't so many things going on at once.

I like the books but I need a break from all of this. Normally I read every book in the series before moving on to a different series. This is one of the few times where I didn't.

That's not a good thing.

Anyways, I'm sure others will like the book. It definitely was enjoyable and the author spent very little time adding in any sort of New Orleans "flavor". So, at least I didn't get mad about that (I'm from there and I get annoyed when authors misrepresent it and clearly didn't do any research). Garrett side-stepped that by avoiding it for the most part.

These just get better and better with every book, i simply can't get enough of Scarlet and the gang. This one had me on the edge of my seat a wee bit as Lucas finds that it's him in trouble and not Scarlet for once.

Scarlet is looking forward to spending a few ghost free days in New Orleans with Lucas sightseeing, so the last thing she needs is a dead body turning up on the set of her boyfriends TV show. With Lucas the prime suspect, Scarlet will need the help of her ghostly companions to find the evidence to clear his name. She also finds out a secret to do with her powers.

It was beyond sweet watching Scarlet and Lucas discovering New Orleans together on a much needed ghost free vacation, but trouble is never too far off whenever these two are together, and this time is no different. I've always loved how Lucas is there to back up Scarlet in whatever ghost related crisis she finds herself in, but this time it's Lucas in the hot seat and Scarlet is no less overprotective of him as he is of her which gave me all the fuzzy feels. And once again i admire her as the new curve ball comes into play with her powers and she finds a way to deal with this revelation.

And just when i think i couldn't love Lucas more he make my heart melt again, confronted with the knowledge of what Scarlet's powers truly are he tells her he's around for the long haul. Yep this man's definitely a keeper.

Being upset about being left behind so she can enjoy her time with Lucas, Hayward, Gwen and Flapjack rush to help with the investigation when they are needed. The usual banter between Hayward and Flapjack had me in fits of giggles as always, and my feline with no filter proves once again to be the epitome of sass and attitude. Love all these guys.

I'm looking forward to book 4 because i wanna know more about about Scarlet and let's be honest what trouble she can get into next. So if you like a great, cozy ghost mystery this series will be right up up your alley. Totally recommend 😁

We go on a vacay with Scarlet to meet Lucas, her BF in NEW Orleans. Oohhh... Where all kinds of paranormal energy already resides and I was here for all the fun especially as we see that Scarlet doesn't take her ghost gang of friends with her, Hayward, Gwen and flapjack.

It turns out to be a much needed break from her ghostly chaos and quality time with Lucas and I absolutely love how that man is with Scarlet.

Even though he's swamped with work and with an ahole of a boss, yet he always makes Scarlet his priority and I really liked how Lucas might be having a bad day but never ever does he let that affect his time with Scarlet.

But things take a sour turn, when Lucas becomes a prime suspect in the crime that happens on the set of his latest renovation show and now somehow scarlet has to figure out how to save her man before it's too late.

Oohhh... We have another fun and crazy ride with Scarlet playing detective and a haunted mansion with hidden secrets and a ghost being the guardian of the dangerous room.

Flapjack was his usual sarcastic self but his snarky comebacks are so hilarious.
Gwen and Hayward were so cute in this one.

There's also a jaw dropping secret that we come to know and that might seriously change everything for Scarlet.

Lucas and Scarlet though... Ahhh... Love them together.❤️❤️

Another fun-ish, quick paranormal cozy to pass the time. This time the best characters (Scarlet's ghost friends) were a smaller part of the story. There was the big bad ghost that had to be found and controlled, but the talking cat and the others that are usually major characters didn't show up for awhile.

The plot felt a little rushed and not fully fleshed out. There was a murder to solve, but I didn't feel like there were enough clues to the culprit to make it a fulfilling reveal for the reader. They are in New Orleans, and so much more could have been done with that setting. There was an interesting side character introduced who I would have loved to see more of, but she seemed to be there basically to give us information on the source of Scarlet's power, but not enough information to really get a good grasp on it.

The romance has progressed to the point where Scarlet and her boyfriend share a hotel room, but it's not explicit. Some mild swearing. Moderate violence.

This book was shorter than the first two, and that may be why if felt rushed and a little bland. I might read the next book, or I might not. 3.25 stars.

WHAT IT'S ABOUT
Vacation goals…I have them. Real life is not cooperating. I don’t require poolside margaritas under a fancy cabana to have a good time. All I wanted was ten ghost-free days to enjoy sightseeing New Orleans with my boyfriend, to admire art galleries, listen to live music, and eat as many beignets as I can before my pants stop buttoning. I might as well have asked Santa for a unicorn. Within thirty-six hours of setting foot in the Big Easy, an ancient ghost warns me of a murderous spirit lurking in the city, a strip-mall psychic tells me I look pregnant (I blame the beignets) and, oh, yeah, a dead body shows up on the set of my boyfriend’s TV show and he lands himself at the top of the suspect list. If this karma, I must have been an ax murderer in a previous life.

MY TAKE
This mystery gets close and personal when Scarlet and Lucas's vacation turns serious when Lucas becomes the main suspect of a murder at his job site. And the things that happen! Not just with this but what Scarlet finds out about herself. Plus we actually get to see Holly rather than her just being referred to.

And Lucas... *sigh* Such a great guy!

Second chances shouldn't be wasted.

Another great easy read that speeds through with lightening speed. Great characters and a return of a couple of one's from other books.
She has finally managed to convince her ghosts that she is going to see Lucas on her own. The ghosts don't like it but agree. Now they are eating their way around New Orleans. A trip to a mystic shop gives them both bad vibes so they leave without any sort of reading but are then forced to attend the new renovation after an irate phone call. But next morning when a dead body is discovered it is clear that Lucas is the number one suspect. Barely holding it together, she calls Holly and then to her surprise her three ghosts turn up. Now the four of them are investigating. Can they find out what really happened? Why did Lucas's work boots leave a bloody footprint? Why has Lucas been fired? Why have the company lawyers left him high and dry? What is the ghost trapped in the mirror? Will she find out what her power actually is?

Scarlet Sings the Blues.

Lucas and New Orleans. The food, the shops, the sights! The murder? Scar heads NOLA way to vacation with Lucas while he is on location for everyone's favourite TV DIY show. A gorgeous house to renovate in the Garden District has to come with a ghost of two, right? This one has the two. While Lucas & Scarlett check out the house, a Pendergrass into Lucas in front of everyone. Lucas keeps his cool but later the producer is found dead of a cracked skull In The library The library one of the ghosts has warned Scar to never enter. Lucas is hauled in by the NOPD as main suspects. Much to Scar's surprise, Haywzrd, Gwen and Flapjack show up to help. Scarlett encounters a psychic who seems to know about her struggle with her growing magic. Even the haunted Cresent City is no match for the Beechwood Hollow gang was they fight to prove Lucas innocent & find the real killer, he it man of ghost.
I always enjoy the Beechwood Hollow books and eagerly wait for each one to arrive.

DNF!! I stopped at 105 pages. Why? For the love of God what do authors do the same crap that’s been done over and over and over? I swear if there is an ex-partner story in this series I’m done with books for a long time! It’s like if a series has more than 3 books there is always a main character arrested for murder, an ex-partner coming back, and a book where they take a step back, then let’s not forget a book about trauma done to one of the main characters that haven’t been mentioned in any of the previous books!!!

It’s like they have a creative writing meeting and say you know what this series needs? A main character arrested. Oh, you know what would create unnecessary drama? Bring back an ex. You know what will make this main character more sympathetic? A previous assault or a past abusive relationship that she hasn’t shared in 5 books! I really really like the ghost gang/trio but I could not finish this book!

"SPOILER ALERT ☆ SPOILER ALERT ☆ SPOILER ALERT"

I've read the first three books in the series. I really liked the premise and the and the array of strange characters. The idea that someone can see and talk to ghost is really cool. But the main character Scarlet, can go from good to moopy in a heart beat. To have lived with a gift/power your whole life and still not know anything is weird to say the least. Lucas and some of the ghosts are better than anything to do with the Lady Scarlet. She is on one hand "it's all about me and what I want", and just as quick "no one wants me and my too crazy life". Wtf... oddly people like her...take the love or shut it down and live alone, you can't have both without driving yourself crazy.... ugh!

I need a break from Scarlet and her overly sarcastic cat.

Scarlet is visiting her boyfriend, Lucas, in New Orleans on the set of the reality TV show he provides security for. He is especially excited to learn that she has left her regular trio of ghosts behind (since it takes so much to get them on an airplane.)
While there, she meets the ghost guarding the house. This one isn't one opposed to the renovations. In fact, she'd prefer that they tear the whole darn house down. Including the ghost, Raymond, who is trapped in a mirror in the library. Raymond is, according to the resident ghost as well as a local seer, a ghost not to be reckoned with, a truly evil ghost. But he may be the only one who can save Lucas from a murder charge. But will his information be worth the cost?
Regular readers will enjoy this addition to the series.
