Mia Hayes is comfortable with her life as it is. Boring is good. Boring is normal. Boring is safe. But the thing with boring is it makes temptation all the sweeter.
She was a sweet dream.
Hollis Wilder goes a hundred miles an hour after everything he wants. Fast is fun. Fast is crazy. Fast is dangerous. But the thing with fast is it keeps you from thinking before you act.
Together they were the notes in their favorite song.
When Mia and Hollis collide—literally—music’s new bad boy can’t help but notice the beautiful red-haired woman with soft curves. She calls to him like a siren, and since the word no isn’t in his vocabulary he’s determined to get what he wants. The problem is, one night won’t be enough, and the fact that Mia is his mentor’s daughter complicates things royally.
Mia’s the one girl that’s off limits, but she might be the only one he wants for real.
Micalea Smeltzer is an author from Northern Virginia. Her two dogs, Ollie and Remy, are her constant companions. As a kidney transplant recipient she's dedicated to raising awareness around the effects of kidney disease, dialysis, and transplant as well as educating people on living donation. When she's not writing you can catch her with her nose buried in a book.
Wild is a rock star romance by Micalea Smeltzer. I love Micalea's books and I was excited to give this one a go. This wasn't my favorite one of hers, I don't know why but I just didn't feel that connection between the MC's. Also, I feel like I should know these Willow Creek characters and I don't, so that threw me off a bit at the start. Even though this was just okay for me, I'm excited to read the next book in the series. I read quick sneak peek at the end of the book and I am here for it!
Hollis is the front man of a new and up-and-coming band. Mia is the daughter of his producer. Her father threatened the band from trying anything with her. After trying to be friends, Mia and Hollis can’t stay away from each other. The two of them get wrapped up in each other and sneak around because they can’t help themselves.
I am in my rockstar romance era. I’m eating these books up. Hollis is a bad boy with a reputation. Mia is a good girl trying to finish college and start her career based off her own merit, instead of her famous father’s. The two of them should hate each other, but they work so well together. Hollis 𝘧𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘴 𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘴𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘴 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘥 𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘩𝘦𝘦𝘭𝘴. I was OBSESSED with how obsessed he was with her.
I did feel like the insta-lust/love was a bit much for me. I’ve only read one other series by this author and was expecting waaaaay more angst. The third act conflict (which wasn’t miscommunication) happened superrrrrr late in the book and was resolved rather quickly. I wish we got more of an epilogue. It felt a bit rushed and unfinished.
Read if you like ✨ rockstar romances ✨ insta-lust ✨ forbidden love ✨ bad boy x good girl ✨ sneaking around ✨ HE FALLS FIRST
Thank you so much to the author & Valentine PR for this arc! It comes out 1/26! All options are my own.
I cannot wait for you guys to read this book! I'm so in love with Hollis and Mia and can't wait to see where this series goes with the other guys in the band.
Wild is the forbidden romance between a lead singer in a band and his producer's daughter. The hero and his band catch a big break when the producer decides to sign them and help them put out their first album. The producer apparently is from an older series of this author's, so it's quasi second gen since the heroine is his daughter. He has one rule: he doesn't want the band dating his daughter. Of course, somebody had to break that rule. The rest of the story follows the hero/heroine getting to know each other after a bad first meeting and working to keep their relationship a secret from the heroine's dad.
I really wanted to love this book. I've read other books by the author and loved them, the covers were gorgeous, and the blurb grabbed my attention.
However, this completely missed the mark for me. I can't even remember the hero/heroine's names at this point. It was really hard to get into this book in the first few chapters because the author kept making references to one of her older series. I don't like when a book is marketed as a standalone but there are NUMEROUS mentions to an older series, to the point where you feel like you're missing something and should've read that first.
Though this is new adult, the relationship felt very juvenile. The supposed "passion" of their connection did not translate well to me as a reader, so I was left feeling very bored. I'm not sure if this is due to the author's writing or the storyline itself was just underwhelming for me. Also, the third act conflict was wrapped up way too quickly.
I know this is the first book in the series (apparently this is a rerelease with the author, with the title being changed and the story being updated), but this is a series I won’t be finishing.
Thank you to the author/Valentine PR for proving an ARC!
TROPES: rockstar; new adult; dislike to lovers; forbidden; second-gen (ish); forced proximity
I've had the pleasure of reading both the original version (which is how I discovered this amazing author in the first place!) and now this polished version. Both are really great, with incredible heart, swoon, redemption, second chances, banter and heat. All of it is really great. And in the OG version, that was all there and you could tell Micalea's potential underneath it all, but with this book, she has soared, she is confident and she knows her worth. She knows what works, what pulls you into a story, and what makes you keep reading. I've loved watching her grow, and taking one of my favorite rockstar romances and turning it into something even better than it was makes me SO excited for the rest of this updated series!!
This book takes on Mia and Hollis, both are complete opposites but just fit in the best of ways. Hollis is in a band with his best friends, although they have had some success on their own, their big break is finally here, when one of the biggest names in the music industry agrees to produce his bands album. The only problem? Hollis is a insanely attracted to Mia, his producers daughter, who he's already been warned away from. He has a reputation, and Mias dad knows guys like Hollis-- hell, he used to *be* Hollis. But Hollis isn't what the media portrayed him as; he's soulful, sweet, kind, and head over heels in love for the one woman who could ruin not only his chance, but his brothers chances as well. Will he take the risk? Or will he sacrifice both their hearts instead?
This book is brilliant! I'll say it again and again, Hollis gave me all the warm and fuzzy feelings, as well as being able to turn me into a pile of need. He's such an amazing boyfriend to Mia, and he always puts her first. Their relationship was just so real and so cute! I love how fierce Mia was, and how she made Hollis want to be better than he has been. She taught him to love, all the while keeping him on his toes! I just love this couple so much!
Even if you have read the OG version before, go one click when this goes live. You won't regret it!!
**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions!**

Mia & Hollis are like moths drawn to a flame, they cannot help it despite knowing the consequences. Wild was a really fun and quick rockstar romance with low angst! This somehow managed to be both insta-love while also being a slower burn at the same time which I wasn’t expecting. I’ll be completely honest and say I wasn’t vibing with the first 30% simply because I didn’t feel a connection between Mia & Hollis. However, once the spice hit.. GOD DAMN, did it hit and it made their relationship much more solid for me and I ended up absolutely loving this book!
I’m really excited for the next in the series and to hopefully see more of these characters in it!
Ohhhh what a way to start a series! This book was amazing from the get go! What started as an enemies relationship quickly turned into a lovely bit kinda angsty relationship. Their love was easy and beautiful and HOT! This is probably the hottest book I’ve read by Micalea. Hollis is commanding bit generous. It’s was truly amazing! Loved the idea of The Wild recording their first album and seeing characters from previous series making an appearance. Can’t wait for book 2!
I was all here for this Rockstar romance! The bad boy Hollis and his band members were told from the very beginning to keep away from their manager Hayes daughter Mia! She's the good girl, innocent and sweet or so you think. Hollis can't resist her and Mia can't help but fall for him! Their chemistry was amazing! It was so fun watching these two fall in love all while hiding it! Yup, this is a forbidden romance on top of it! So good!!
𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙥𝙚𝙨: rockstar romance / forbidden & secret relationship / he falls first
𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙨 From the beginning I knew there was going to be a big character development with the mmc and I was not wrong. There something so fun about seeing a true blue rockstar playboy become enamoured with a girl he sees once. Truly a dream all of us have had. He so quickly, but realistically, realized he was not someone good enough to be with this girl he was into and so he changed himself and appreciated the changes he made even outside of his relationship which was the most important. The fmc was also so fun and nuanced but properly fleshed out. I liked the way she became more dependant having met the mmc. They both helped each other grow. They were both a little too childish at times which was the only quality that annoyed of either character. I wasn’t even that mad about the fmc keeping the secret cause I maybe would have done the same. #daddysgirl
𝙥𝙡𝙤𝙩 The whole forbidden relationship was done here in a way I think all romance girlies would appreciate. It was a relationship they were forced to keep secret but it didn’t feel dirty or taboo. I dont mind those adjectives, but I know some do. They made the moments they shared together special and meaningful despite the concerns surrounding them. This is a series so we are going definitely to revisit this couple but it would have been nice to know what they had planned for the future. it just forces me to continue reading hehe
𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙨 Several thoughts and emotions were repeated so many times in the first 25% which always irks me a little bit when authors do that. It’s like they dont trust us to remember a key thought or feeling the character has and since its going to be important they repeat it several times. Twice is enough. Other than that I thought the writing flowed so well and the spice was unexpected but appreciated. So random but I was not a fan of the fmcs best friend. She was like … idk strange. She pushed the fmc into getting into a relationship and then when it backfired responded “well what did you expect” like huh?? Also her book is definitely going to centre around the “I dont do love. Im about that” and im already a little fearful.
If a Wattpad fanfiction were a published book, it would be Wild by Micaela Smeltzer. While I don’t think this is inherently bad, the caliber of writing was definitely lacking in every sense of the word.
˚₊ · »-♡→ characters
Within the first chapter of the book, we were introduced to the arrogant, narcissistic, and downright unbearable members of the band The Wild. It would’ve been more tolerable if we didn’t learn that they were discovered on none other than TikTok. I understand that authors can’t shy away from mentioning it forever, but for now, I’d rather live in blissful ignorance. For all we know, TikTok could be the next Vine, and incorporating an app that was once relevant takes away its relatability. It dates the book rather than making it timeless.
The novel was written in a way that suggests it was meant to be character-driven, yet almost all of the characters were insufferable. Especially our male protagonist, Hollis. He’s your typical playboy that walks around with this conceited, superiority complex, and all of a sudden I’m supposed to believe he “changed his ways” after knowing his boss's daughter for all of two days? Sure…
As for our female protagonist, Mia, she gave off an “I’m not like other girls” vibe. She gets hangry, she NEEDS her coffee, and she hates rom-coms (her favorite movie is Jurassic Park of course).
Don’t even get me started on the chemistry, or lack thereof, between Mia and Hollis. Their relationship was purely sex. No matter what they say, actions speak louder than words. There was no emotional connection between the two of them. The abrupt dynamic shift from “enemies” to “friends” to “lovers”, and yes I mean all these labels loosely, made me lose interest.
Mia’s dad, Hayes, had so much potential. Instead, he was written as your typical strict and overprotective Dad that yells a lot for no reason. His response to Mia and Hollis dating was totally uncalled for and while I wish I could say it was out of character, it all added up.
The only characters I could tolerate were Cannon and Mia’s mom…the two least prominent characters in the novel. I needed more of them. If I were to read another book in this series, without a doubt it would be Cannon’s.
˚₊ · »-♡→ plot
As for the plot, there was none outside of Mia and Hollis hiding their relationship. Quite literally nothing else was going on and even that was boring. The smut didn’t even make up for it because there was no emotional connection between the reader and the characters. To be completely transparent, I skimmed most of the book.
SPOILER: The end of the book absolutely infuriated me. You mean to tell me, Hollis and Mia spent this entire book hiding their “relationship” from her dad, just for him to find out, punch Hollis, terminate The Wild’s contract, and end up forgiving him a couple of chapters later without ANY groveling whatsoever? It just isn’t adding up…
˚₊ · »-♡→ writing
At the end of the day, it all boils down to the caliber of writing, as I mentioned before. The writing felt very young. There was SO much untapped potential. I think going through a couple more revisions, it could’ve at least been a 3.5 star read.
While I wanted to give this book the benefit of the doubt, looking back now it just wasn’t worth my time.
Thank you to Valentine PR and Micaela Smeltzer for providing me with this ARC. As always, all opinions are my own and are not influenced by early access to this title.
4.5⭐️ This is my second Micalea Smeltzer book and I really enjoyed it. This is a rockstar X managers daughter trope with a little bit of a secret romance. Mia’s dad is from a famous band and owns a record studio and Hollis is a part of a new band that is recording with her dad. There was a strict rule of no dating her so it is a forbidden romance which makes it so good.
“I feel like a small cornered animal being stared down by the big bad wolf. Too bad this wolf doesn’t know who he’s messing with.”
“She’s like a siren and I’m caught in her dangerous melody.”
“Impossibilities only exist to prove the possible, and we, Mia”….” are most definitely possible.”
Oh, my goodness! Ever since I heard about this book I have been dying to get my hands on it and Wild does not disappoint!
Wild follows the story of Mia and Hollis and will suck you in from the very first page. When we first meet up with Hollis, he is the bad boy musician your parents warn you about. He’s cocky, arrogant, and so sure of himself. But, the more time you spend with him, the more you discover there’s more to this playboy than meets the eye. And when Hollis meets Mia, all bets are off. Mia is the untouchable and off-limits daughter of musician, Josh Hayes. And while Mia loves her dad and family more than anything, she’s desperate to prove herself and make it on her own. She knows she should stay away from bad boy Hollis, but she can’t help but find herself drawn to him like a moth to a flame. In the end, neither one of them stood a chance…
Wild captivated me from the very first page and I easily devoured this story in a single sitting. After the first interaction between Mia and Hollis, I knew I was done for. Their chemistry was instant and I couldn’t get enough of their banter. I loved the bad boy, forbidden romance, and rockstar vibes that this story delivered. Hollis exceeded my expectations and there is nothing like watching a musician fall. The romance between Hollis and Mia may have taken these characters by surprise, but it was pure and sweet and I loved every second of it. Now, as with any good love story, there have to be a few bumps in the road, and the bumps in this story certainly tugged at my heart.
In the end, I fell hard and fast for Hollis and Mia. Their story had everything I was looking for and I certainly can’t wait to see what adventures Hollis’ band has in store for us readers in the future.
*I was provided an ARC copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review*
RECENSITO DA SARAH JL PER IL BLOG DI "LIBRI E SOGNALIBRI" Dove c’ è musica c’ è amore.
I’m still swooning over the sweetest rock star romance that melted me. Wild is utterly delicious! I basked in this slow burn of smolder, strength and soul. My heart was lifted straight to the clouds where it floated on air. I was complete mush over this stunning story.
The first story in the new Willow Creek rock star spinoff series, Wild is an opposites attracts romance that’s forbidden and full of heart. This story features the strong and stunning Mia and Hollis, the dreamy playboy leader and singer of an up-and-coming band. Hollis happens to work for Mia’s father, Hayes in the related Willow Creek series.
This hero and heroine battle a palpable pull that’s irresistible. I could feel their emotional charge in this tale of friendship on fire and a fantasy come to life. Hollis and Mia are magical together!
Wild is a softer rock star romance. I loved the smolder and sweetness. However, I desired more angst, intensity, and the edge that make the book bleed. I also wished for a longer epilogue as it was a bit of an abrupt ending.
Steamy, dreamy, and oh so divine, this romance brings the fairytale vibes. I adored the knight-in-shining armor hero’s love for his princess. Full of charming characters, heartwarming humor, and combustible heat, I wholeheartedly surrendered to the spell and song of Wild.
“This spark isn’t a flicking ember, it’s every star in the sky.”
I badly wanted to like this book and I’m going to try my best to be as respectful as possible. This book was just not my cup of tea which pains me to say because I’ve always wanted to read Micalea Smeltzer. I’ve heard wonderful things about her writing, so I was disappointed that I didn’t love this book. This was my first read too but it won’t keep me from trying her again. Mainly because I have already bought some paperbacks of hers too LOL
I think that I got myself on this rock star path too much – I’ve been reading a lot of them lately so there is always that comparison game too. Sadly, I did not feel their connection. I wish I did but their connection felt “forced” to me. They had like three instances of meeting before we were pushed into this instant connection and what not. Also, I felt like we had a lot of filler when it came to repetitive topics. I was not a fan of their dialogue either. It felt forced and just not the way people talk. Unfortunately, I found myself skimming towards the end.
Just because I didn’t like it doesn’t mean you won’t – so don’t let my review deter you from giving this book a chance. Everyone has different tastes, and this just wasn’t mine now.
Ahh this babyhas published today. And, I loved and devoured it within hours. Micalea smeltzer is one of my favourite and undoubtedly the one click author for me. I have loved and adored almost all of her books. And one thing about her is that she knows how to weave romance with emotions and a good story time. And I'm all here for it. It was a very light hearted and enjoyable read for me. The hero is a perfect definition of cinnamon roll; but it should be noted that, he's only for the heroine. As apparently he's a reformed f-boy lmao. And the heroine was quite sweet and very adorable character to read about. Along with that, the side characters were quite fun too. Overall, I highly enjoyed and can't wait enough for the next instalment already.
4/5 || Thank you Valentines PR and Micaela Smeltzer for this ARC!
Once again Micaela delivered a masterpiece. Micalea is one of my favourite authors as she creates such addicting series and characters through her writing. Wild is a romance between Hollis Wilder and Mia Hayes, hollis’ band Wilder is being contracted by Joshua hayes Mia’s father, and from the moment they meet they have an instant connection.
They’re chemistry was so addicting to read, they were not only adorable together but HOT! The pacing of their story was so easy to read. The side characters and all their stories were so interesting i cannot wait to read their books ESPECIALLY rush and kira my babies i loved them so much.
In my rockstar romance era, this gave me exactly what I needed!
This follows Hollis who is an upcoming singer in the band, The Wild. He encounters Mia, his producers daughter, who is very much off limits. But after some undeniable chemistry and working together, feelings can’t be ignored!
Hollis was so incredibly dreamy! He’s so cocky but it really works for him, he’s so smooth. I loved Mia’s growth so much, it took some time but she really found herself. Hollis and Mia’s banter was so fun! They really mesh well together!
I couldn’t put this book down! Can’t wait for the rest of this series. Thank you so much Michalea Smeltzer for the arc!
Great read, I think I have just read to many Rockstar Romances this month and this couple was not my favorite. But still a 3.5 🌟 for me.
🩵Rockstar Romance 🩷Forbidden 🖤Good Girl/Bad Boy 🩵Insta Love 🩷Great Spice 🖤Good Plot 🩵Duel POV
Mia is a good girl, trying to branch out from her father's name. He is a producer and she wants to make it on her own. Hollis is a bad boy Rockstar. His bad is a new bad being produced by Mia's father.
Mia's Father has a stricted rule to all bads to stay away from his daughter.... but when she works and the studio it's hard for Hollis to ignore his attraction. And Mia is right there with them
Such a cute rockstar meets producer’s off limits daughter!! I was obsessed with this story line and the characters! Micalea never fails to make me fall in love with her books and this one did it once again. Hollis and Mia have the sweetest relationship ever. I love playboy turned simp and Hollis was everything! Loved this one!
omg i just finished it and i am in love with this book !! i gave it four stars, but honestly, it was so close to being a five-star read for me.
the storyline was so addictive, i couldn't put it down. and the characters... let me just say, i am OBSESSED with them !! hollis had such a bad reputation at the beginning, but when he meets mia, he just wants to do anything to become the kind of guy she deserves.
and the sneak peeks of kira and rush’s romance has me so excited for them !!
Micalea Smeltzer is one of my favorite authors, so it pains me to say that this book sucked for me.
The things that worked for me: -the fact that it was less than 400 pages 🤙🏻
The things that didn’t work for me: -Hayes being all macho man overprotective of his LITERAL ADULT DAUGHTER -the weird info about side characters that was unnecessary and confusing (maddox and his apparently live hedgehog that he keeps on his person at all times???) -mia is SOOOOOO not like other girls and just like, sooooo quirky 🤪 -the over the top smut and how everyone is constantly making sexual comments in public. RAISED BY WOLVES!!!!
There were so many other things that I disliked so this was just a huge bummer for me.
okay so I am torn on this one. I really liked a lot of parts on this, but the fmc made me cringe a lot during some parts in this book that it was hard to read.
Hollis is finally seeing his dream come true when he is signed by Josh Hayes, from the famous band Willow Creek. What Hollis doesn’t expect is Mia, Josh’s daughter, and the girl he can’t get enough of.
We got bosses daughter, reformed bad boy, rockstar romance, lots of sneaking around, spice!!
This started off with a lot of tension and build up. That exploded in the best way possible. There were also a lot of sweet moments. But overall I felt that some of the dialogue when Mia was “joking” or “hangry” she was quite irritating and almost unbearable.
The conflict in the end I could see coming from the beginning, but it needed to happen. I just felt Hollis acted out of character and I didn’t like it lol.
Despite all that I still enjoyed it. It was an easy read that I zoomed through today!
Hollis Wilder and his band The Wild finally have the break in their career that they’ve been working toward when they are signed by a member of the legendary band Willow Creek. That is if they can survive their time in a small town and keep their behavior that lives up to their band name in check, especially where his daughter is concerned. Mia Hayes is the daughter of a rockstar but is working hard to earn her own way into the music business by going to college, working at a sub shop, and working in her dad’s recording studio in her free time. So when her path collides (literally) with Hollis she knows his type well and is certain that she is not interested. It doesn’t take long, however, for their forced proximity in the studio to reveal that they’ve truly met their match in each other, and with the clock ticking on the band’s return to LA and a passionate relationship burning out of control that they are desperate to keep hidden from Mia’s father, what will it take for Hollis to realize that maybe, deep inside, he might already be the man Mia deserves after all? And will Mia find the courage to openly claim her relationship with Hollis before it’s too late?
This book was so addictive and I had so much trouble putting it down!! The shining stars, hands down, were the characters. Mia was focused, slightly sheltered due to a traumatic past, and the classic, straight-laced girl next door, but I loved how she herself had so much life and so much wild inside her begging to get out. Her longing to find a love that she trusted and could be herself in was really a beautiful journey of growth and I loved watching her come to life along the way. Hollis was a much more layered character and I appreciated that SO much in a shorter romance book like this. The author did a fantastic job laying out his past, where he came from, how fame affected him, and the ramifications of living the full lifestyle that can come along with that. His growth was top notch and I loved getting to see an imperfect MMC who was willing to admit his faults and grow for the woman he loved.
Admittedly it has been a while since I read a properly spicy book, but this book had WAY more spice than I expected!! Not complaining at all, but while sex played such a strong part of Hollis and Mia’s relationship (how they communicated their feelings and their trust and how it always led to them opening up about more) there were times that I honestly just wanted them to have a conversation versus experimenting in the bedroom.
The side characters were just as fantastic as our main couple and I absolutely LOVED every single one of them!! They felt like a real family and lived right off the page in a way that made me miss them when the book was finished. Rush and Kira’s story is one I cannot wait to see unfold more, and Cannon and Fox were absolutely ADORABLE. Also Cannon’s sister was a total scene stealer so I am definitely hoping for way more of her in the future.
All in all this was a fantastic spicy, rockstar, forbidden romance and an incredibly solid start to the series. I cannot wait to see what lies ahead for The Wild!!
Thank you so much to Valentine PR and the author for sending me a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
