Roland “Fitz” Fitzgerald is having the worst holiday season of his life. His blood family is falling apart, and his chosen family is badly hurt and struggling to get back on its feet. He became a member of the Brazen Bulls MC to find brotherhood and a purpose for his life, but everywhere he turns, all he sees are dark shadows.
There was light in his life once, but he lost it long ago.
Kari Kovacs’ life isn’t perfect, but she’s content in it. She’s got her job, her friends, her family—most important of which is her young son, the light of her life. She devotes her attention to him and has decided neither she nor he needs more.
She had a different kind of love once, but she doesn’t let herself dwell on its loss.
On Thanksgiving Day, when Fitz is caught in a dark tempest of heartbreaking trouble, he runs into Kari. Their past rekindles at once. By New Year’s Day, their lives, and their futures, are full of light.
Note: This Christmas story takes place toward the end of Stand, Book 7 of the Brazen Bulls MC series, and is Book 7.5 of that series.
I was born and raised in the Midwest, but I was transplanted into the dusty soil of Northern California and have apparently taken root there. An inveterate geek and gamer, I am a fan of many things considered pop culture and maybe even lowbrow.
As a reader, my favorite genres are science fiction and fantasy, but as a writer, I've found my home in romance--or perhaps it's better to say simply "love stories." I have a yen to try other genres, too, at some point, but for now my muse wants to tell stories about lovers and families.
I write for the joy of it, and I write stories that I want to read. If others like them, too, that's just the cherry on top. I’m not interested in rules and formulae. I follow my muse and my characters and let them take me where they want to go, wherever that might be. I like big emotions, dark and light.
I like complicated characters with flaws and weaknesses as well as strengths, and I like each character’s strengths and weaknesses to be different from those of other characters. I’m much more concerned that my characters be interesting and diverse than that they be widely considered to be likable. I try to create people, not types.
Likewise, I want my stories each to be distinct from the others. Once I’ve told a story, I don’t want to tell it again. So even within a series, one of my books might be very different from the next. Some might be very dark, others equally mild.
That isn’t to say there aren’t trends and recurrences in my work. I’m drawn to certain themes and settings, and my muse has her favorite toys and tools. But I guard against those tendencies becoming a formula.
A note: I don't spend much time here on Goodreads. I try not to read any reviews of my own work. Besides, this is a site for readers, but since I write at a fairly manic pace, and read and edit for other writers, I don't have much time to read recreationally. Mainly, I log on to update my info. So if you message me here, it might be a while before I see it.
Light was a fabulous Christmas second chance romance set in the Brazen Bulls universe. Not as long as the previous books but still so worth a read. Fitz and Kari stumble across one another by coincidence and immediately feels something still there since they broke up in high school. Now they have to figure out if they should give another try cause now things are different. He’s part of the MC club and she has a son. It was fast paced but still very much enjoyable. They’re both honest and vocal about what they want. Light was a fabulous addition to the series.
June 2020. I loved this one. You didn't expect it and what a gift Fitz and Kari are.
5 "I left the light on for you." Stars
A perfect Christmas novella. This book was named a gift for readers from Susan Fanetti and it was the most splendid holiday delight. A second romance that was romantic, charming, yet still held everything we've come find special about the Brazen Bulls MC. Fitz and Kari reconnect and find the love they once shared is still alive. This book is about family, kinship, kindness, and the true meaning of the holidays. I felt the beautiful connection between Fitz and Kari. This Bulls novella stays true to Fanetti's storytelling style and showcases her brilliant writing once again. A must read for Bulls fans.
Two high school sweethearts torn apart because of her Mother's snobby class prejudice and reunited by a chance meeting at a nursing home where each of their grandparents has been placed. The book deals with how different family members deal with putting a parent/grandparent in the nursing home. It's not a very happy theme at all. The H/h have to scale many barriers to reignite the deep love they never forgot in the intervening years.
Susan Fanetti does a Christmas novella with a second chance love theme in her own characteristic style. She doesn't hold back with the emotions whether it be the loss felt when dementia affects a loved one or the feelings of a country after the horror that was September 11. She's such a great writer combining the ongoing drama with the Brazen Bulls MC with the "light" that is the holiday season.
LIGHT is a Christmas gift from a favorite to her fans. ”For my readers. May your hearts be filled with light.” What a beautiful sentiment during this holiday season.
Light is Fitz & Kari’s love story. Their story is surrounded by the holiday season. A 'Once upon a time', where high school sweethearts went separate ways and now 9 years later they've run into each other. Many things transpired that lead to them not be in contact with each other for all those years.
Reading Light was an illuminating experience. It takes the reader on a journey of devotion and rekindling. One of finding lost love and holding onto brighter times when things aren't favorable. The holiday spirit is spread throughout the story. The four generations weave in and out of the story creating a nostalgic Christmas feel.
LIGHT is a novella book that comes after Stand in Brazen Bulls MC series. You can read this series without having read any of the other MC series Ms. Fanetti has written, so far. This series is set back, in time, before her other series … it starts out in the ’90s and continues into the '00s. Light is Susan Fanetti’s first Christmas book and I hope it won’t be her last. I love Christmas time because it means looking at Christmas lights, eating Christmas cookies, decorating the tree, etc. GET IN THE HOLIDAY SPIRIT AND READ THIS BOOK!
BOOK | Year | Couple CRASH | 1995 | Rad & Willa TWIST | 1996 | Gunner & Leah SLAM | 1997 | Mav & Jenny BLAZE | 1998 | Simon & Deb HONOR | 1999 | Apollo & Jacinda FIGHT | 2000 | Ox & Maddie STAND | 2001 | Caleb & Cecily LIGHT | 2001 | Fitz & Kari
I used to gobble up this author's books. But the long separation, high-school sweethearts scenario? I'm afraid I no longer have the patience for it. Even with the author's stellar writing.
This was a nice addition to the Bulls story. I must say that I am glad I read this after the holidays. While the underlying story is about Fitz reconnecting with his high school sweetheart and his one and true love, this is still a biker book with some deeply disturbing and deeply sad things going on (a repeat of the Christmas scene from Stand, book 7 for one) Don't let the cover fool you and you ABSOLUTELY have to have read the previous books in the series!
I so hate to say it, but this book wasn't up to Ms. Fanetti's usual great work. It may have helped if the story had been made into a full novel rather than a novella - too rushed, not enough depth to the characters
this book makes me happy. Enough of the Bulls to make it a Bulls book but a perfectly calm holiday story. Fits and Kari are so easy to fall in love with. Q is adorable. There's still plenty of "real" but just enough fantasy.
Good job writing Fritz’s story. It was perfect. The story seamlessly brought Fitz and Kari back together through their grandparents. Second chance stories are tricky but as is Susan’s talent she pulled it off perfectly.
Kari was perfect for Fitz. Their chemistry is off the charts and almost tangible. He needed her in so many ways. The epitome that Fitz has when he figures out that when one door closed another opened (loosely quoted) is so true.
Susan warned us that the Bulls would be in the background only as they were and there is very little drama but it’s fantastic. Can’t wait for Becks story!
This novella is uplifting and sad at the same time. Fitz is dealing with the fact that his grandma needs put in a nursing home. When he is leaving because he is emotional he gets knocked into by a 3 year old dynamo. He finds himself stunned to run into the girl who got away. His gf from high school who vanished one day. For both of them their feelings had never went away. Kari's mother was the reason that they were split apart. She didn't like the fact that he was from the wrong side of town. What a nice second chance romance. I like seeing the back stories for the guys in the MC.
Loved how Fitz found his light. Beautiful tale of losing and finding your family, the sad reality of Alzheimer’s and how love still shades every corner. Susan Fanetti is a gifted writer and have loved every novel she’s written. This is my second time through this book. Her writing draws you back again and again. Great story & read. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year indeed!
This was a short and satisfying story where Fitz reconnects with his only love after ten years apart. There is a strong message of love and family in this story. Sometimes life is full of decisions that are hard and this story deals with the decision to put Fritz’s Gramma in a home.
Reconnecting with his high school sweetheart and her three year old son finally gives Fitz his HEA and a fulfilling future.
Story was a little too close to home. Fitz' grandma with dementia being sent to a nursing home. Not knowing his father, and his mom is a piece of work. Kari and Q are sweet together. Her mom has some crazy ideas about what Kari should look like, who she should be with. Kari's Popper is in the same nursing home as Fitz'grandma. High school sweethearts who never really got over each other makes for a sweet Christmas story.
this was a short story that i would of liked longer like the others but still was excellent.....fitz and kari they new each other yrs ago she has a kid now but father disappeared fitz falls for her hard and loves her kid they met again at nursing home her grandpa and his grandma a very touching story for sure that you cannot put down great love story...these hard ass bikers are the best protecting loving men when they find their true love...read on.....
Lights is a lovely little novella in the Brazen Bulls MC series by the wonderful Susan Fanetti. There's a realistic, sad undertone to it with hints of hope, strands of forgiveness, a glimpse of the future and lots of love. It's a nice little surprise holiday gift to all fans of Susan Fanetti and the Brazen Bulls.
This novella follows Fitz and Kari. They were high school sweethearts and ran into each other for the first time in nine years. It follows them through the holiday season, from Thanksgiving to New Years.
Second chance romances are my favorite types of books and I adored this one!
Ok so I love the horde mega like so the bulls are great also. However this book felt like a novella, I hate novellas. I want long books thick storylines drama and passion which Susan usually delivers, alas not here.
I love everything Susan Fanetti writes and this book is no exception. This is a short Christmas story about Fitz and Kari. Fitz is going thru a lot bc he has to put his beloved grandmother in a nursing home. His mother and his grandmother don't get along AT ALL (phew, very toxic) and his mother is no longer willing to take care of her mother. While looking at nursing homes, he runs into Kari, whose beloved grandfather is in a nursing home but doing well. Kari has an adorable little boy named Quentin, she has been a single parent his whole life. Kari and Fitz were high school sweethearts, but Kari's mom thought Fitz was PWT, so she kept them apart. While they have been apart for quite some time, their love is rekindles pretty quickly. I loved that the author had Kari have some realistic reservations about getting involved with someone on an MC, but Fitz was honest with her from the beginning about who he was and who the MC was, and Kari accepts that. Eventually they fall back in love and Fitz falls head over heels in love with Kari's son Quentin as well. They come from very different backgrounds, but somehow they manage to make their relationship work even with Kari's hateful mother. We also got to briefly catch up with some of the characters from the Brazen Bulls, so it was a good book all around
