This was the better way to go, instead of reading just the Tanya with English translations. For those of us who are not ultra-Orthodox, and want to explore this area of Jewish mysticism, I recommend you get this version.
As for the content, well ... it's arcane, archaic, perplexing and out-of-date with current knowledge about human biology. And how could it not be, since it was written by a Torah scholar living in the 18th century. Modern theology and philosophy contradict most of what Rabbi Zalman wrote. Alas, there are many people who still believe the Tanya's theosophy to be the eternal truth.

Rachel is too misnagdishe for this. She liked all the examples about physics though.

Jonathan appreciated all the practical tips, especially the ones about imagining oneself as God. "Very practical, indeed," he said.
