A tornado chaser with a battered heart. The devastated country boy she left behind. Can they weather a storm of second chances, or will their past destroy them?
Lauren Reynolds needs the adrenaline rush that chasing tornadoes brings. Since the death of her parents four years ago, storms are the only time she feels alive. Now she’s determined to land a roving weather reporter job in Tornado Alley, and she’ll do anything for the position—even return home to Oklahoma and face the country boy she left behind.
Meteorology professor Tanner Erickson is totally over Lauren—at least, he thought he was until he moved back to Sunset Plains. Memories of his high school sweetheart haunt him around every corner. Even after four years, he can’t forgive her self-destructive penchant for chasing funnel clouds, or the way she dumped him in a letter and then disappeared.
When a funeral brings Lauren and Tanner face-to-face again, the chemistry between them is as potent as ever. As they cautiously pick up the broken pieces of their old relationship, another deadly tornado forms in Sunset Plains. And Lauren needs Tanner’s equipment to chase it. Can they weather past hurts to claim a future together, or will it be swallowed by the storm?

Fueled by Diet Dr. Pepper and fictional angst, she can win any Gilmore Girls trivia contest yet rarely remembers what she ate for breakfast. I originally read this story as Twisters and Textbooks (Sunset Plains), but the author has reworked it and released it as part of the No Match For Love series. This is a second chance at love story with a big question--can Lauren and Tanner work things out or will their love be torn apart like a building in a tornado?
Lauren Reynolds' parents were killed by a tornado when she was 18 years old. Her boyfriend, Tanner, thought he was helping her deal with it, but she felt he was just trying to fix her and wasn't really listening to her, so she leaves Sunset Plains, and Tanner, and doesn't return until four years later for the funeral of a beloved teacher (Mrs. Olsen). This is where the story starts and where Lauren and Tanner see each other for the first time since she up and moved away leaving him only a short note in his mailbox.
Tanner never understood why Lauren suddenly left because she only left him a note in his mailbox, and since her cell phone was disconnected, he had no way to reach her. He didn't know what happened to her after she left Sunset Plains.
Sparks are flying at Mrs. Olsen's wake when Lauren and Tanner run into each other. He thinks she's reckless for chasing tornados and she still thinks he isn't listening to her. The attraction they feel for each other is still there but unless they have a serious conversation about what happened four years ago, and her need to chase storms their mutual attraction isn't going to help them move forward.
I agree with both of them. Lauren is a bit reckless and almost gets herself killed trying to feel close to her parents by chasing a tornado that hits Sunset Plains while she's there. Tanner didn't listen to her before and still seems to have trouble really listening to her now--he does what a lot of men do--he tries to fix the situation she was complaining about instead of just being there for her. Finally after another close call with a tornado that she and her camera-girl are following for a work assignment, they're able to really talk and listen to each other. But it seems it took a super close call for Lauren to realize she was using tornado chasing to feel alive and Tanner to realize if he loved her and wanted her in his life he needed to support her.
I understand Lauren felt lost after suddenly losing both of her parents at such a young age. I've been there--my father died unexpectedly a month before I turned 18 and my mother died from cancer three weeks after my 18th birthday--but I can't understand why she thought she felt closer to them putting herself in danger chasing tornadoes. When she's almost killed because a tornado suddenly switched directions I thought she had learned her lesson. It does mention that Lauren always loved storms and would go outside to watch them--she just used her love of storms and meteorology to help her handle her grief. I was glad to see she finally started going to therapy to help her deal with the pain of losing her parents.
I liked that there was an epilogue and it gave the book a little more closure. This is a clean romance.
I loved this second chance romance! It was a quick, satisfying read. There were heart-stopping moments, tender moments, romantic moments...all of which were great moments! Lauren is a bit reckless. Tanner is more logical, wanting to help her and protect her. They jump right back into the issues they had four years ago, sending sparks of all kinds flying. I understood where each person was coming from. I was so happy when they finally started seeing things from the other person's perspective and realized that their love trumped all.
I received a complimentary copy of the book, which I voluntarily reviewed. I have given my honest opinion.
Any readers out there who love watching the weather channel and seeing all the crazy storms that happen, and the reporters and cameramen out there being blown around and pelted with wind, rain, debris and whatever else? If so, I think you'd enjoy this story.
Lauren is always on the lookout for the next storm, more specifically tornadoes. She lost both of her parents when she was 18 to a tornado and feels connected to them when she is chasing after the storm and getting as close as possible. So there are a couple up close encounters and some intensity as she's trying to outrun the storms. I might have held my breath and read those scenes as fast as possible to see what the outcome was going to be.
Now, I already knew what the outcome would be because I read this book when it was titled, Twisters and Textbooks. But it has since been updated with more detailed scenes and a few added scenes. I have to say I love what the author did to give it more depth and character detail. A lot more insight into the characters' minds and thought processes as well as giving the reader (as well as fellow characters) a better understanding of certain choices and reasons to one of the main character's actions.
There's a good balance between the tension, heartache and romance in this book. It was a pretty quick read and I probably could have finished it in an evening's read but life was busy. So, if you're looking for something you can sit down and read and enjoy in a shorter amount of time, or maybe you're looking to savor a book and spread it out for several days...I think it would fit either very well.
This fits into the authors No Match for Love series. Tanner is the main male character, his sister's fiance is the connection to the series. So this could be considered more of a companion book to the series. It is definitely one that works as a stand alone read if you don't want to read the whole series.
Content: Clean. A couple moments of peril as Lauren is chasing tornadoes. Some kissing but nothing more.
I received a copy from the author. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.
Lauren and Tanner were high school sweethearts and shared a love for meteorology. Tragedy in Lauren’s life derailed their well planned future together. Lauren left Tanner without warning to make sense of her life and escape her past. I really don’t know anything about meteorology, let alone tornados. So, for me, this book was like an introduction into that kind of lifestyle and how someone can have the drive to chase and approach something that can tear a house apart in mere seconds. I still think that lifestyle is crazy and I know I clinched my teeth every time Lauren romanticized her need to chase tornados. That being said, I found the book very interesting and I enjoyed reading it. I would put it into the mild thriller/romance category. I know the story had me on the edge of my seat holding my breath for several pages at a time waiting to see what was going to happen. The romance was very much like yo-yo, the pull was there all along but they fought hard against it going back and forth. What I loved most about the book was that you really get to see the transformation that Lauren and Tanner goes through to get over the past and a healthy way to conquer their personal fears. It has a very good HEA and I felt like it wrapped it up in a fantastic bow with the epilogue. Clean romance!
💞Lauren 💨blows back into Tanner's life; will the damage be reparable after 4 years' absence?! December 30, 2018
👍4.5 🌟stars⚡🌀💧💨💞 Terribly exciting and a quick, enjoyable read. This newest Sunset Plains, Oklahoma sweet romance focuses on steady,📡 academic meteorologist Tanner (the brother of Cassidy and Shawn, MCs in their own earlier stories) and the ⚡storm-chasing gal who suddenly upped stakes and left him. Well, she's b-a-c-k and still caught up in the adrenaline rush of tracking🌀 tornados. There are some harrowing descriptions of the power and destruction of a tornado, just be warned.😧
Heroine Lauren was not my favorite of the two MCs, but she has still not healed from her teenage tragedy so some of her actions and reactions to Tanner are understandable, though I would not go so far as to say they are justified. Tanner's calm strength is just what she needs but, will she embrace it or sabotage their connection? I'm not telling!
Although Match Me Again is part of a series and some secondary characters who featured in earlier books put in appearances, this is great as a standalone if you don't want to pick up the books about Tanner's siblings (Never Say Match and Match Me By Christmas).
I read a complimentary advance copy of the story; this is my voluntary and honest review.
This was a sweet, clean romance and a really good second chance at love story. Lauren and Tanner were together all through high school and were planning a life together at college and beyond when tragedy struck. Tanner couldn't understand why Lauren was constantly chasing tornadoes and she couldn't make him understand why that filled a void in her life that the deaths of her parents left.
The death of one of their teachers threw them back together in Sunset Plains. I really enjoyed this story and their attempts to resume their relationship. I loved Tanner - he was a great character and he was really willing to do anything to make things work with Lauren the second time around. I wasn't as big of a fan of Lauren - she was selfish and too quick to blame Tanner for everything. But overall, this was a quick read and an entertaining story.
A tornado chaser with a battered heart. The devastated country boy she left behind. Can they weather a storm of second chances, or will their past destroy them?
My rating is 4.5 stars
As Lauren ran from the storms of grief that threatened to overwhelm her, she left Tanner devastated in her wake. He had thought he was protecting her yet in the process she was feeling strangled.
While I had a hard time relating to Lauren, I was well able to feel her pain thanks to this compelling story. She sought to draw closer to her parents through chasing storms and thrived on the adrenaline rush it provided.
Tanner, on the other hand, had no desire to be in the storms. I related very well to him! I loved the way the author managed to make him very attractive despite the fact that he was a slightly nerdy professor. Of meteorology! His protective nature and the way he strove to overcome his fears in order to be what Lauren needed were so charming. He wasn’t perfect by any stretch of the imagination. He had a very hard time forgiving Lauren and being able to really listen to her, to see her needs.
I enjoyed this in its original form (Twisters and Textbooks) but I love the new version even more.
I was given a copy of this book for free. I was not required to give a favorable review nor was any money received for this review. All comments and opinions are my own.
Match Me Again is a rebranding of Lindzee Armstrong’s short story Twisters and Textbooks that was originally published in 2016. It is now bigger and better than the original with almost 100 pages added to the story.
The story centers around Lauren and Tanner who were once high school sweethearts in a small community in Sunset Plains, Oklahoma. They once planned on attending college together until Lauren’s parents were tragically killed by a tornado a few months before she graduated from high school. Despite having Tanner’s love and support, Lauren felt suffocated and packed her bags and moved to Texas without a glance in her rear-view mirror. Since then, chasing tornados is the only activity that makes Lauren feel alive.
Four years after her departure from Sunset Plains, Lauren decides to attend the funeral of one of her favorite high school teachers. Tanner is at the funeral as well, and the old feelings she had for him come flooding back. Although Tanner is angry with Lauren for abruptly leaving all those years ago, he can’t resist the pull of attraction between them. However, Lauren escapes once again to chase down a tornado that developed outside of town. As expected, Lauren is reckless and she gets caught in the tornado. As her life passes before her eyes, she suddenly realizes that cashing tornadoes will not bring her parents back and it might get her killed.
I listened to the audible version of this story narrated superbly by Tiffany Williams. Her smooth rich undertones make listening a truly enjoyable experience. Tiffany's style is very natural and she is easy to listen to. I highly recommend the entire No Match for Love series!
WHAT IT'S ABOUT Lauren Reynolds needs the adrenaline rush that chasing tornadoes brings.
MY TAKE I read the shorter version when it was Twisters & Textbooks. I really enjoyed that book but loved this longer, more in-depth story. Grief can cause people to do some really stupid things and poor Lauren felt so alone after the sudden death of her parents. I really felt badly for Tanner who in trying to help her ended up driving her away. When they meet again, all that old pain is still there, but so is the love.
This is an exciting tale full of swoon-worthy moments and danger narrated expertly by Tiffany Williams.

Match Me Again No Match for Love, Book 10 By: Lindzee Armstrong Narrated by: Tiffany Williams
This is a sweet and enjoyable second chance romance. It is well written and well told. The storylines and characters are interesting and well developed. Lauren Reynolds left town & her boyfriend, Tanner Erickson, after the tragic loss of her parents. The only thing she left him was a note and a broken heart. Four years later she returns to attend a wake for her H.S. teacher where she see Tanner. Lauren never stopped having feelings for him, he claims to finally be over her. But there is definitely something still there. But can he forgive her for how she left him and broke his heart. Can he get past her need to chase tornadoes and the need to feel that thrill she gets from being in the middle of the storm or is her need to be in the midst of the storm something else. This is an entertaining fast paced story, with drama, angst, twisters humor and sweet romance. This book is part of a series but I enjoyed it as a stand-alone. Lindzee Armstrong, thank you for this great story, I am looking forward to checking out the rest of the series.
I listened to the Audible edition, Tiffany Williams is a wonderful narrator and voice performer. She brings the characters to life, gives each their own voice and personality and a lot of heart. She is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for this great listen🎧.
Match Me Again No Match for Love, Book 10 By: Lindzee Armstrong Narrated by: Tiffany Williams
Lindzee Armstrong has the perfect formula for this series, and each time I listen to one, I fall in love all over again. This second chance romance had me completely invested in Tanner and Lauren's story. Lauren made some rash decisions when dealing with the death of her parents, including leaving Tanner. Now coming back home, the two meet once again at a funeral and the storm between them begins to brew. There are so many parts of this that I love. Both in the field of meteorology leads to a really interesting story. Armstrong shows us the beauty of the storm as well as the danger, letting us feel the adrenaline rush Lauren needs and the fear Tanner has when she goes to get it. More importantly, we get to learn how important the grieving process is when dealing with loss and how seeing things from each other's perspectives can help you heal. These characters tug your heart strings, and make you look for the sunshine. It's a great addition to this series.
The voice of Tiffany Williams brings these novels to life. She has a way of adding the inflections to the characters so that I can feel their story. The richness of her voice gives the narration a warm quality and gives that comforting feeling as I listened. I love her narrations and know that when I turn the book on, it's one I can relax and immerse myself in.
Match me Again is a funny, sweet and captivating story. The plot is a classic: the heroine returns to her home town to an ex boyfriend and a painful past. Lauren is a peculiar, well defined character; a journalist and a meteorologist, working to become a field reporter chasing twisters and tornadoes. Her personality is truly captivating. Conscious of her past mistakes, she refuses to let them define her choices for the future. Although she is willing to accept compromises, if necessary, she continues to seek a fulfilling personal and professional future. Tanner, her ex boyfriend, is also a meteorologist. Nerdy but cute, he is working towards his PhD and teaching at a local state of the art weather center. Tanner is sweet and caring. Though he is wary at the beginning, he works hard to re-build his relationship with Lauren once the possibility arises. The story is well written and never boring, containing drama and adventure yet remaining reasonably light and, many times, even funny. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. Opinions and comments are solely my own.
I really enjoyed this book. It was relatively drama free, other than the personal drama the couple had between themselves. Lauren & Tanner were high school sweet hearts set to go on to college together until Lauren’s parents were killed in a tornado accident. All of a sudden Lauren - being the emotional (naive) 18 year old she was - needed to get out of town and as far away from her real life as possible instead of dealing with her grief head on. Because Tanner wasn’t thinking along the same lines as her she took off by herself to get her degree and become a tornado chaser. 4 years later they are both in the same town and although Tanner is still in live with her he won’t put himself through watching her walk into danger over and over again because she thinks she can somehow find or feel her parents in every dangerous tornado situation she is in. The story and the audio were both really great. Would love to read/listen to the other books in the series.
This is a second chance romance that feature characters previously met or discussed in previous books. However, it can be read (or listened to) as a stand alone novel. I enjoyed the story. There was some fun adventure as Lauren chased some tornados. It reminded me of the movie Twister. Lauren was a little more than crazy in my mind. Then there was Tanner. Hurt emotionally from when 4 years earlier Lauren left as fast as one of the tornados she left to chase. Leaving behind his battered heart. Lauren was trying to find a way to deal with the loss of their parents who were both killed in a tornado when out on a Sunday drive. Tanner and Lauren have both recently moved back to their home town for different reasons and it puts them in the path to some powerful emotions. Facing their past maybe more difficult then facing the unpredictable weather. Leaving them questioning whether there is a HEA in their future.
I listened to the audio version of this book. I really enjoyed Lauren and Tanner's story. It is a second chance trope, which is one of my favorites. Ms. Armstrong really did a good job of expressing why things fell apart for the couple the first time and made it seem believable and justifiable. I loved the weather and storm chasing aspect of the book. Ms. Armstrong also did a great job with the description. It may have been unlikely that Lauren survive two direct hits by tornados, but you can't exactly kill off your main character. I loved Tanner. His thinking about the relationship was understandable, but his moment of clarity was touching. They really had a great love for each other. Another good, clean romance by Lindzee Amstrong! The narration by Tiffany Williams was very good--kudos to her for getting the screaming parts across without actually screaming in my ears! I was given a complimentary copy of this audio book. All thoughts are my own.
This was a great story that was filled with sadness, action, and love. Lauren found her way back to her home state after leaving unexpectedly ten years prior, leaving behind a broken heart and bad memories. I like Lauren's willingness to face her past and hope for forgiveness. Tanner was the one left behind with broken heart. Tanner never understood Lauren's disappearing act or why she couldn't keep moving forward with her life after the devastating loss of her parents. I like how the sparks fly when the couple is together. They still have the love sparking between them, but a big wall of regret and hurt to overcome. I recommend this book to those that love second-chance romance with a little action in there for fun. I received a copy of this book. This is my honest and voluntary review.
Chasing the thrill of a storm, Lauren will stop at nothing to get the job of her dreams. Tanner is a local weatherman who thought he was over his high school sweetheart, until she returns home. I loved how they had similar jobs yet were so different. When they met again, the sparks fly as if they never died out. The chemistry between them quickly drew me into their romance and I could not stop listening. Can Tanner curtail the adrenaline junkie in Lauren? This is one twister of a story that you want to chase.
Tiffany Williams narrates this story perfectly. She brings the chemistry of Lauren and Tanner right off the pages. Ms. Williams is so easy to listen to. I get lost in her narration and the book becomes more of a movie in my mind. Ms. WIlliam's is always a must listen to for me.
I loved this sweet romance. I totally am reading the series out of order but this one looked interesting especially since it takes place in Oklahoma (I live in Oklahoma). This is a second chance romance and a small town romance in one. The characters were fun and believable and I had a hard time putting it down. It didn’t have much of the matchmaking elements the series is supposed to be about but the siblings of the male lead are characters in other stories in the series. Good book though! I certainly recommend it for a bit of fun and light reading (the female lead’s parents died before the book starts so there are some triggering elements for some perhaps).
I thoroughly enjoyed this second chance romance with great characters, romance and intrigue. Lauren and Tanner dated 3 years in high school and had planned to go off to college together when she graduated. However, her parents were killed in a tornado weeks before graduation and she left right after graduation and asked not to be found. Four years later, after graduating college, she was in a nearby city and went home for the funeral of her favorite teacher. She saw Tanner again, but they had too many issues to resolve. They went through a lot, but the ending was great. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy.
Lindzee Armstrong takes her readers on a romantic adventure with meteorologists and storm chasers. I found it very interesting, especially since I would never chase storms myself and have wondered why people would put themselves willingly in harms way. I struggled to relate to Lauren, though. She chases storms to feel closer to her parents who died in one. Tanner fights with her all the way, which also means there aren't a lot of warm fuzzy feelings between them. He finally makes a decision toward the end of the story that also didn't fully make sense to me. But all-in-all, things work out and there's a sweet HEA.
I received an eARC and this is my honest and voluntary review.
I enjoyed Twisters and Textbooks but this new, expanded version is even better! Lauren felt lost when her world collapsed with the death of her parents in a tornado. Tanner meant well but, in typical male fashion, he wanted to "fix" things for Lauren. Lauren left abruptly when she could no longer deal with Tanner not listening to her. Now that they are both back in Oklahoma, the sparks still fly when they are together. But Tanner cannot handle Lauren's need to chase storms. Will they find a way to communicate or will they again be pulled apart? You will have to read this well crafted, clean romance to find out.
Tanner and Lauren's story is sweet with a whole lot of excitement. Growing up in Oklahoma myself I've seen the beauty and destruction of tornado's, so I completely understand the draw of chasing them. I loved how this story is as sweet as the rest of this series and that it also has that added excitement and danger of mother nature. This is a great second chance romance and I love that it's the female who screwed up in a big way. Usually with second chances it is the guy who made the big mistake that split them up and while Tanner did screw up it wasn't at all like Lauren running away. I find it great being reminded that we females can screw up just s much as the males.
I received an ARC of book leaving my honest review. I can’t relate to the other reviews that read this story before with a different name, except I too enjoyed this book. Getting to know Tanner n Lauren and what they’d been through for the past 4+ years helped put certain pieces together for me. Career choices, 1 being a teacher, the other loves to chase storms, (pass on that one) grieving over loved ones, 2nd chance with your true love, n more. They finally really understood each other when they worked together n was there for each other. I loved how the epilogue brought more of the story together, giving updates on characters n yet seeing more come from the story.
This is a delightful second chance story in which high school sweethearts Lauren and Tanner are suddenly faced with seeing each other four years after she left town without saying goodbye. Lauren had difficulty dealing with her parent’s sudden death in a storm and when she felt that Tanner wasn’t hearing how she felt, she left town. When they both back, he can’t believe get over his fear when Lauren goes to chase after a tornado. Will they be able to explain their feelings to each other, or are they doomed to remain apart?
I enjoyed reading this entertaining and well written book. The characters are well-developed, and You just love them (sometime more and somtimes less 😉). Lauren loves chasing tornados and Tanner didn’t like this love of her. It's interesting seeing how they overcome their struggles on their way to the HEA.
So, go ahead, grab a cup of coffee, grab this book and let it give You a really great reading time.
I received an ARC of this book. I have voluntarily chosen to leave my review in support of this book.
Super cute. Of course-This match series is such fun! Ms Armstrong creates characters that are completely relatable and memorable. This story had a deeper twist than usually but I really liked it. The feelings. The characters. The discoveries.

Lauren and Tanner will take you on one wild ride. They were inseparable until the death of her parents in a tornado. She only way she felt alive was chasing tornados, which he felt was crazy. Fate brings them together at a funeral and the attraction is still off the charts. A clean quick read that was well written with fun characters and entertaining. Plenty of drama as they deal with past issues and feelings. I read an arc and voluntarily chose to review. A great second chance romance.
I read an ARC of this book, and I loved it. Ms. Armstrong blends solid plots, well developed characters and strong writing to give you a really good read and this is no exception. Lauren and Tanner's conflict is something new, and the resolution is original as well. The Sunset Plains Oklahoma setting and the cameo appearances by other characters from previous "Match Me" books gives a nice sense of continuity.
