Anticlimactic

Three short books and an Earl who used to be a butcher is the big bad guy?

At a wedding that seems to have no guards Wickham and the Butcher/Earl lock the church doors to kidnap Georgiana and Mary, and burn everyone in the church to death? Shots ring out and when the doors open Wickham and the Earl on on the ground?

Who shot them? Are they dead? The Earl isn’t but makes a deathbed confession? The last big scene has hardly any details. The whole story just lurches around like that.

And then at the very end we find out Sam, the dead Bennet brother is alive? Stay tuned for the next 3 books. It was like a bad Green Hornet or Batman movie serial from the 30s/40s.

I don’t recommend the book.

This is the last book in a trilogy or the 3rd book in a really long series that follows this plot line. Sorry but I am not interested in going another moment into this story line.

This is the longest book of the trilogy and has the most pointless plot twists.

Finally the Meryton folks have come around to Lizzy and Darcy future but there are no smooth seas ahead. Wickham makes an appearance the dirty Earl is back and threatening Lizzy. Someone is trying to kill Darcy / Lizzy/ somebody. To save Darcy she'll have to give him up. Georgiana and Mary are thick as thieves. Darcy has Lizzy walk, unaccompanied, to Ware to meet him.

This is a story that is dragged out for no apparent reason and rewrites Sir Lewis's history making him the son of a tradesman who didn't inherit Rosings until Anne was 10. ??? huh? So I am supposed to believe the daughter of an Earl married a tradesman's son? It isn't like the earldom was hurting for money. This isn't just silly this is ridiculous.
in fact the whole dramatic, angsty ending is ridiculous.

Unputdownable!

The third instalment of the Loving Elizabeth trilogy was a thrilling, fast paced read with plenty of tender moments between ODC. Their love never runs smooth though... Although the trouble came from outside sources. Had me at the edge of my seat from start to finish.
Loved the twist to the wedding and the not so sweet Georgiana.

Heartily recommend this book!

After having enjoyed reading this plot developing in the previous two books, I'm sorry to say that I was disappointed in this final installment of the Loving Elizabeth series.

It starts out well enough. Plans are underway for Darcy and Elizabeth to marry. Darcy receives news indicating the fire that killed his father and Elizabeth's brother was set on purpose. This leads Darcy to suspect that Elizabeth's carriage accident was no accident as well. Wickham is the obvious suspect, and Darcy sets the Bow Street Runners to locate and trail him. Once again, he considers leaving England in order to keep his loved ones safe, as the perpetrator is targeting people close to him.

Over the course of the book, Georgiana and Elizabeth meet. Miss Darcy still holds a torch for Mr. Wickham despite Darcy's attempts to convince her of the man's lack of trustworthiness. She acts snooty and rude with Elizabeth but does seem to forge a friendship with Mary Bennet. Wickham shows up in the Meryton militia but, uncharacteristically, he is performing like a model soldier and has airtight alibis when mischief starts to brew.

But there are real problems as the book gets closer to the climax and resolution:

The major evildoer has a less-than-credible confrontation with Elizabeth. I think he would continue to keep his identity a secret and perhaps send an anonymous note to her with his ultimatum. Why tip his hand by revealing himself?

The response that Elizabeth and Darcy come up with makes no sense to me at all.

I also have trouble following the major villain's convoluted explanation of his motives. It seems as though there have been plenty of other people who have interfered with his plans besides Darcy, but for some reason he has fixated on that one man. He IS described as a madman, so perhaps it's not supposed to make sense.

The romance between Darcy and Elizabeth is very sweetly done, and I rather like the explanation of Georgiana's issues. She's an adolescent, after all, and they're generally known for overly emotional and sometimes irrational behavior. For once, Mary (another adolescent) gets a key role in this story, which I also enjoyed. Content is clean.

I received an ARC from the author with no promise of a favorable review. Opinions are my own.

This P&P variation continues as three weeks have passed. But all is not well, who is behind the threat to the happiness of Darcy and Elizabeth. Both Georgiana and Mary have their share in the events.
An enjoyable end to the trilogy

A thrilling ending!

Lovely story! I almost tried to call a warning every time they were going out. And who would have thought that someone that dislikes pretending would be so good at it? A very enjoyable experience and a worthy end to the series.

Great Story

I loved the villains getting their comeuppance. Loved the epilogue and the children and more to come. However that last bit was too shocking!

Too complicated

3.5 stars

I find the story too complicated and his behaviour is too complex for what we know of him from the previous novellas and this one.

I followed the chapters of this book and its two prequels as they were posted by the author online. I enjoyed all three. This is really not a stand alone book so please read the previous two in the series. I will not go over the background that is in those books so it is difficult to write a review if you do not know what went before.

Elizabeth Bennet and Will Darcy have had an on-again and then off-again relationship spanning many years. In this book they are again together and again engaged to marry. However as the wedding day draws near both Will and Elizabeth find the actions of their sisters puzzling or rebellious. Mary Bennet seems to have taken instantly to being friends with Georgiana but cannot understand Will's demands that she not go out without an escort and even expresses anger at him for such. Georgiana is a typical teenager, thinking she knows best and wanting no rules! She remains "in love" with Wickham and as Wickham has been now sighted in Meryton the rules are even more important that she not go out alone. Will has learned that someone fitting Wickham's description is responsible for the act of arson which killed both his father and Elizabeth's brother, Sam, years before. Thus a previous carriage accident now also seems suspicious.

Elizabeth and Will conspire together to come up with plans to expose Wickham and then another man. But part of this means she must break their engagement.

As another review stated the climax has some missing developments. Shot fired; by whom? If the colonel and/or others, even villagers, neighbors, etc. are nearby why the panic in the church? Surely they would come to the rescue. And weren't there servants, footmen, drivers, etc. taking care of the horses and the carriages? Two wedding ceremonies: but in being close together and the latter one very public - how can you believe the villain will not hear of such and show up? So that didn't seem to make sense. Yes, ODC has finally come together but the secret ceremony didn't quite make sense in the long run although the immediate effect of bringing them together is realized. It seems to just delay his threat.

These three stories span many years. I enjoyed the series as I have also enjoyed many other stories by this author.

Angst for the sake of it. Darcy and Lizzy are all over the place in this. Georgianna is a brat, Mary is inexplicably hostile. Everyone is super against Darcy, as per book one, and then they just... are not. The villain is inventive but the plot is not thought out. A lot of extra unnecessary and irrelevant detail that actually make it less realistic. Lady C married a tradesman? But her daughter is too good for an Earl? The end is rushed. The villain is supposed to be cold and collectedly evil, yet his actions are crazy. Then the shots ring out, we don’t know who took control, there’s a deathbed confession and all is magically perfect. Lots of grammatical errors in this too. Feels a bit like the author gave up on the last instalment.

The teaser for the accompanying series tells us Sam is still alive. I had expected him to be alive from early on in book two, and was convinced once Lucy was known to have disappeared, but I had expected him to be relevant to the fire/stolen letters. Not sure how bringing him back now works into what has happened so far.

It would have been far more interesting if the angst had been less drawn out and Sam has reappeared at an earlier juncture.

Trust so easily restored (actually that was book 2)

I liked very much that Lizzy did not capitulate to blackmail but proposed a way to appear as if she had. Their romance overall was too fast and furious and trust too easily restored for my belief but I do like that once Lizzy decided to trust, she decided to stick to it, in spite of fleeting doubts. Still too many editing mistakes: missing and misused words

Avid Reader

I read the draft on fan fiction, and couldn't wait for the grand finale. Elizabeth and Darcy kept it together in spite of Lord Harcourt. Georgina finally realized that Wickham was a cad and didn't love her.

(Novella) Lord Harcourt is trying to kill Darcy / wants to stop them from marrying. Georgianna is rude. Lizzy and Darcy marry in secret early to try and trick Lord Harcourt but Mary ruins it.
