Surrendering My Affection is the fourth book in the Sulfur Springs series. This is a Men of Crooked Bend spin off, but it isn’t a requirement that you read that series to enjoy this one. Familiar faces will be seen, but this series takes you off of the ranch and into the lives of those in Sulfur Springs. While each book will focus on a different couple, you should read them in order. Each book contains sexually explicit material between two men and is intended for adults over 18.
* A younger/older M/M romance, well done ! Pastry Chef, Cody, 20, hid his bisexual awareness from his best friends, and is having a lonely time. He's had one girlfriend and one boyfriend, who was the guy he had some sex with, but Cody's been burnt and fearful of trying again. Federal Marshall, Adrian, 38, has spotted Cody at a club, approached and was turned down. Adrian is long divorced from his cheating husband, and Cody is the first guy he's taken an interest in.
Later on, they see each other again, but Cody is being stubborn. He's met his match, because Adrian isn't going to give up yet. With help from friends and good talks, Cody gets rid of his age gap issue. Cody begins to see Adrian in a new light. Their sexy times are super hot, with first times for Cody.
Wonderful dialogues, fiery sexiness, important decisions to be made, and acceptance found. A terrific Sulfer Springs series tale. ENJOY !
My first book by Taylor Rylan and I’ve got one thing to say… I want more! Narrated by Michael Pauley, the audio edition of Surrendering My Affection is the fourth in Rylan’s Sulfur Springs series. Though characters from earlier books are part of the plot, Rylan explains everything clearly and I was never lost. I’m highly motivated to go back now and listen to the rest of this series in order!
A May/December romance, Surrendering My Affection is sweet during the courtship, low on angst, and when they get together…? Adrian and Cody are smokin’! Taylor Rylan writes great chemistry. And Adrian is a great teacher. Once Cody moves past his issues with their age difference, these two are highly compatible.
Michael Pauley turns in a wonderful performance, and it’s clear he’s having fun with Rylan’s clever dialogue and creative characters. I’m looking forward to hearing him read me the rest of the books in the Sulfur Springs series.
Sweet and funny and hot, plus a great story, Surrendering My Affection is a winner!
an audiobook copy of Surrendering My Affection was provided to me for the purpose of my review
Michael Pauley's narration of Surrendering My Affection was superb! His delivery was passionate , engaging and on point. He is a very talented narrator.
In few words Surrendering My Affection is Soapy💖 Emotional 💖Steamy💖
Surrendering My Affection is book four in the Sulfur Springs series. I was so excited when I seen it was Cody. He has intrigued me ever since we met, and slowly learned a little about him in past books.
Cody was stubborn, and while it irritated me a little with how long he held on to that, I also understood. Once he let go, and opened up, it was a beautiful thing. All in all, I did like Cody, but man he could give lessons on being stubborn, lol.
I adored Adrian. He is my favorite of the couple. I love the lengths he went through to prove his feelings towards Cody.
This is definitely a great addition to the series. Here's to hoping the next book is about Bishop. Just something about him makes me want more of him, lol.
It’s easy to sit back and tell others that, but when it’s you in the hot seat age becomes more than just a number. But when you can find a happy ground and things shared you’ve found a way to bridge the gap.
Great story, I look forward to reading Bishops next 🤫
OMG. I loved this! Love, love, loved it. I will absolutely listen to this one again. And, I will admit that I haven't read any of the other Sulfur Springs books, but was fine. Yes, the other couples from previous books were involved, but it was easy enough to find my way without feeling like I was missing something... other than the fact that I NEED to read the others!!
I think what struck me most was the fact that the conflict was believable and real. The hesitancy on both parts happens ALL THE TIME. And there wasn't extra angst. It was perfect. Both MC's were so different, yet so easy to fall in love with.
Michael Pauley is a treasure and he got this just right!
I’m enjoying this series. Cody has watched his friends Tristan and Hawke meet and fall in love with older men and although he might be jealous, he’s very happy for his friends. He often feels like a fifth wheel though, always worrying his friends would prefer being with their partners. Now, Walker and Trace are understanding and want their partners to spend time with their friends.
One night while out Cody was approached by an older man. He and his buddies nicknamed the man the Bear from The Blue Diamond – the name of the club they were at. Cody rebuffed the older man but has had regrets ever since. When he encounters Adrian again, he questions the decision to keep the bear at bay. Now, there is a lot of back and forth and at times Adrian almost felt like a stalker, unrelenting in his pursuit of Cody. Cody balks a bit and the final deception almost ended the relationship before it’s even begun.
In the end, though, the men were destined to be together. Adrian is a federal marshal and his partner is convinced he and Cody are meant to be together. Cody’s buddies have also witnessed the chemistry and are willing to step in to help Adrian in his chase. Even Adrian’s sister gets involved.
Cody is only twenty to Adrian’s thirty-eight. His experience is limited, but he knows what he wants and he’s pretty sure Adrian can’t give it to him. In the end, though, he realizes there’s more to compatibility than just body parts. He’s able to give himself to Adrian and they are meant to be together.
I have to give a shout out to Michael Dean (formerly Michael Pauley) who narrates this series. I adore him and think he does a brilliant job. Coming home to Sulphur Springs is a treat and I can’t wait for the next book.
Surrendering My Affection is the fourth book in the Sulfur Springs series. I suggest reading the other books in the series first, but this book does well on its own if you don’t.
First, I really liked the characters and found the romance sweet and fluffy. It was a pretty standard romance that I find enjoyable and entertaining. The biggest issue I had with the book was that I don’t think the author understands what the United States Marshall Services does. Adrian is a Marshall, but instead of actually working as Marshall and staying within the parameters of their mission, Adrian acts more like a police officer or sheriff deputy conducting an investigation that has nothing to do with the Marshall Service. I had to really work to suspend my disbelief in order to fully enjoy the book. I felt like the author only wanted Adrian to be a Marshall because it sounded cool and not because she had any interest in what the Marshall Service does. This book would have worked just as easily if Adrian had been an FBI agent or HSI agent if the author wanted a federal law enforcement agency.
All in all, not a bad book with a pretty conventional plot that followed the well-loved tropes, but it could have used some basic research.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I liked the connection between Cody and Adrian. It took them awhile to get together as Cody had a lot of reservations mainly their huge age difference as he thought they wouldn’t have anything in common, and it didn’t help that Adrian said a few things that came across way worse than he’d meant them. When they finally clicked it was amazing. I loved how annoying Bishop was to Adrian, and I can’t wait to read his book, it should be exciting considering he’s a manwhore, sometimes they fall the hardest. Just look at Jasper with Liam. I loved how close Adrian and Emme were considering the age gap and that they’re half siblings. I love the friendship between Cody, Hawke and Tris. Total friendship goals. I loved how Adrian and Cody have the same birthday and that they both planned surprise parties, lol Cody totally hijacked Adrian’s surprise party for him and surprised him an hour earlier with all their friends and family for a party. I’d totally recommend this book, series and author
So the only thing I didn’t like about this book is it has to end! I was so excited to read this book, and now that I’ve read it I’m sad.
All I want is more Cody and Adrian! Their love story is a bit complicated, a lot sweet and and a bit sexy.
The first time Adrian saw Cody he knew he was someone he want to know. Even though he was hurt in the past he felt something when he looked at Cody that he had never seen.
Adrian was a man on a mission when it came to Cody, even his fear of loosing him wouldn’t stop the pull he had to him.
Cody saw their age difference and couldn’t get past it at first. So he had to be convinced from people around him that that age was just a number. And he finally saw that.
I love that the author doesn’t fill her story with a bunch of angst. This is a book filled with love and so much heart you won’t be able to put it down.
Surrendering My Affection is Cody's story. We met Cody in the previous books in the series, where both of his best friends, tristan and Hawke, found their HEA with two older men. I was so excited for Cody to find his true love, too! But Cody was stubborn, and sometimes quite irritatingly so, I might add, but when he finally lowers his barrier and gives in to the attraction he feels toward Adrian, true love is exactly what he gets.
Adrian is a great character. He's strong and protective, and, as a US Marshall, quite intimidating, but he's in fact a big teddy bear of a man, as sweet as can be, and extremely patient (good thing, too, given *again* Cody's stubborness!).
Michael Pauley's narration is top of the game as usual and listening to any book narratd by him is always a great experience!
I absolutely loved this latest story in the Sulfur Springs series!!! When we first heard about Cody and his bear in prior books....I was intrigued. Adrian hasn't been able to get Cody out of his mind and made it is mission to make Cody his. Cody couldn't believe that someone like Adrian was interested in him....there was no way that they could have anything in common. Cody is so stubborn and can't get past his hangups…..Adrian is so patient with Cody. I loved their coming together....once Cody let Adrian in he realized that he was exactly what he was looking for. I loved their story and I highly recommend it to everyone. I can't wait to read Bishop's story next....its gonna be so good!!! Well done!!!!!
This book was amazing! Taylor Rylan is such a wonderful author! I absolutely adore this cover! It's gorgeous! I love the relationship that forms between Cody and Adrian. I don't think I have read a book where it takes half of the book for the MCs to become a couple! I think that made this story unique! Having one of the MCs so stubborn that the other MC keeps pursuing makes this story amazing! I also enjoyed seeing familiar faces and love how these characters work together. Highly recommend reading this book!
I love a good age gap story. It's one of my favorite types. Taylor does it justice. I love how Adrian just knew exactly what, or rather who, he wanted and just goes head first and full force to get it. I did get frustrated with Cody a few times throughout the book. I may or may not have yelled (out loud) to my kindle. My husband now thinks I'm crazier than he previously thought. (And that's saying something :D) I love this book and I love this series. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
I really loved this series. Reading how the tree friends found their forever men. Cody has been on the Fringe of the other stories and I loved that this one is his. Cody meets Adrian while out with his two best friends. Adrian knows there something special about Cody, but Cody has been hurt before and is wary. I loved this story and how it brought the two of them together!
Finally Cody got his own HEA with his bear! I loved the story when it appeared in previous books of the series and I'm glad it's finally here! While the plot lacked some of the drama previous books were rich with, it was an interesting switch - this time we get almost total focus on the couple of MCs with some family drama to spice things up. An interesting change of pace and overall, a good addition to the series for sure.
Taylor Rylan's Surrendering My Affection is the fourth book in the Sulfur Springs series. This wonderful, well written story is a contemporary m/m romance with an age gap. There is a dash of angst to work around, a touch of humor that made me smile and a lot of sweet and sexy romance. Cody and Adrian are great chatacters and I loved their interactions with each other and also amongst their friends. I love this series and this book was a great addition to it
Love this addition to this wonderful series. Cody has built so many walls around his heart it’s almost impossible for anyone to get through. Adrian is determined and doesn’t give up. I love these two together, they are perfect for one another and it’s a wonderful journey to their HEA. The narrator is absolutely spectacular with the story and with all of the characters. He truly keeps you engrossed in the story. I voluntarily reviewed a gifted copy of this audio book.
While I wish that the story would have went a little deeper into each of the their family situations, Cody and Adrian are one of my favorite couples. Cody is a little wishy washy at first so thank God Adrian is tenacious. The sexy times are amazing in this one. I would love for some of Taylor Rylan's characters to have just a little more kink or alpha personality. I think it is something she would be good at writing.
When you too scared to surrender your heart for fear of it being shattered. The reward when you take the dial-up worth it!
Cody the 1of 3 right friends Tristan, Hawke and Cody. They have all fallen for Hero's. Cody is holding back. Fortunately for him he has a patient but persistent & never giving up ready to take his heart & give his in return - totally romantic! This is a great story for someone to think about risk it all for love! @my2centsbooklover Thank you!
Pastry baker Cody had to watch his two best friends find their own true loves, but he doesn't think he will be half of a couple any time soon. So why is he fantasizing about the sexy, much older bear that chased him around the club that night? US marshall Adrian is completely obsessed with the very young guy who turned him down and can't get him out of his thoughts. If he's persistent will he scare him away or will he get a chance at happiness?
Surrendering My Affection: Sulfur Springs Book Four gives you all the feels. Taylor Rylan gave us an amazing May/ December romance. Filled with heartwarming moments, insecurities, and major attraction. Well thought out, well written, and we'll done.
This was wonderful, I absolutely loved it! There was definitely a beautiful love story, drama , wonderful friends and love in bloom! Love this Author, she writes a very exciting series, let's hope she will write more on this series, many thanks, Honey Bee 🐝📚💙🎶
I've really become a fan over the last few weeks, but honestly, I gave one pet peeves with every single book...Too much information!!! The details are a little over the top and sometimes they pull you out of a fairly good story. And it's always the same handful of scenes, one being right after the first time one of the guys bottoms. TMI!
Oh its a romance novel so all the hundreds of red flags MC was throwing in the first half of the book were totally fine?
Um... if you ever meet a guy who follows you round a club, refuses to take no for an answer (while saying he will leave you alone if you turn him down... again) and manipulates your friends, family, and YOU...
Love Cody's story. Cody's parents are for S#!t but his siblings make up for it, and it's great he has a sister he's really close to. It's great it was the "bear" from the club that turned out to be his interest, they seemed to fit together well.
I loved this book even if I wanted to punch Cody once or twice. I liked that Adrian never gave up until he had Cody. Can't wait to read the next book in this series.
