John Ling is the author of international thrillers that have appeared on the USA Today and Amazon bestseller lists. He was born into an ethnic Chinese family and raised as a Christian in Muslim-majority Malaysia. He now lives in New Zealand. His exotic cultural background, straddling East and West, informs his storytelling.
Although short, concise and to the point, the start did not make clear or give us readers a sense of what the whole plot was about. It became clearer further into the story but this affected the overall rating I feel justified in giving
Captain Karim (interrogator, intelligence officer), listened to the 3 rendition team members: Ahmad, Faisaland, & Mazlan explain they had only given the detainee ketamine, orders from the chemist. Dr. Ridzuan (MD) had arrived to look the patient over. Haron Omar (civil engineer, wife/3 kids) finally came to. Loud music, & water boarding didn’t seem to affect him. He was not being a bit cooperative. The last resort. Will Captain Karim, & the team get a confession from Haron?

A very awesome book cover, & proper great font & writing style. A very well adventure written (short story) book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great adventure movie, or better yet a mini TV series. There is no doubt in my mind this is a very easy rating of 5 stars.

Karim is the intelligence officer assigned to interrogate suspected terrorists. He is ruthless and very good. At the end of the story, he gets a call that the suspect he is interrogating is actually innocent, so he must stop interrogating and kill the suspect. He orders the suspect killed as painlessly as possible. It is clear he is having guilt issues.
This is a short story and it conveys so much in so little time. It's really well done and you cannot help but sympathize with both the interrogator and the person being interrogated. Especially at the end which was a great way to end the story.
This is the first book I've read by this author, but it won't be the last. I love his writing style (and the fact that it doesn't contain any typos!). It was exciting - but beware if you have a weak stomach. An excellent short story that kept me reading. Brilliantly crafted!
an interesting and realistic story about trying to get Information from an aledged informer and what a person has to go through to try and get a confession.
Very short story based around the interrogation of a man who turns out to be the wrong man and what people will confess to just to stop the torture and the final outcome when they realise their mistake.... Good wee story that packs a lot in a 15 min story.
