Dear Diary, William Blake Connor is a stud. He's my brother's best friend since childhood. He was my first crush and now he's my boyfriend coach. And he says that he's going to help me find a boyfriend as long as I do what he says. Which is all good and well, but I don't know that I want him to be my teacher. Not when his techniques include kissing me in ways that make me think that he's the only one that I want. My name is Maggie Lane and I'm a dreamer, a thinker, a wanna-be writer and all I really wants is to meet the love of my life. I can't help it that I go from crush to crush, never finding Mr. Right. It's not that I'm not trying. I thought I would be single forever. And then I reunited with hunky Blake, and he said that he'll be my boyfriend coach and help me snag a boyfriend. He came up with a plan that included teaching me how to flirt, date, and even how to seduce. It all sounded like a great idea at first, but everyone knows that the best laid plans often go awry. The Boyfriend Plan is a completely revised and rewritten novel that was previously published as The Shameful Diary of a Hopeless Romantic.
Self hating plus size woman who's 27 but acts 12? Actually, that's an insult to 12 year olds. She acts even younger and is hella delusional. And annoying. And lies a lot. And she's not a good friend.
DNF. There is NOTHING likable about the h of this book. She lies compulsively, she is lazy to the point of not caring when her best friend starts dating the man she has had a crush on for years, and she whines incessantly.
I thought about not rating this book because I didn't read all of it but ... unless there was a MASSIVE turnaround ... I kept reading well after I normally would quit a book because I loved the premise that much and I kept hoping/waiting for a pivot. But ... nope.
Also omfg all the name dropping made this book REALLY EXCRUCIATING from the start - but I figured "self, you're a total judgy bear - you need to get over that/let it go" so I tried to push past it ... and I wasn't rewarded for it, I was punished for it.
I even feel like I should take SOME of the blame since the book warns you - it tells you the heroine is more like a middle school girl/her friend(s) call her that - but I was like "oh that's just a bitchy friend." ... Even after her "dear diary" entry that legit looks like something I'd have written myself IN ELEMENTARY OR MIDDLE SCHOOL. I powered on.
I didn't power on THAT much - (I think I read about 15%) but my god. Nope.
It's all the same. Vapid, selfish, very surface just ... she's a pushover, irresponsible, flaky, there's a SHIT TON of fat shaming and fat hating ...
[I didn't even screenshot and post a lot of the WTFery - I wanted to but was actually too embarrassed to have that in my feed. And I mean ... I post really bad (and really good!) excerpts a lot. So. :X]
I wanted to like this one so much, but I just couldn’t get into it. I found the heroine extremely immature and annoying. It was too outlandish and dramatic for me. It seemed to ramble on with no substance. Not a fan of this one.
Arc review For honest review. Maggie lane is a plus size girl. William blake Connor is her brother childhood best friend and they meets again at the gym. This a story of how Maggie feels that guys and life are against her and she only wants someone to except her. Very cute.
Hoped for a really steamy love story, but was left with a bit too much Bridget Jones diary clone with an overweight woman that’s maturity was suspect. I finished it in spite of myself...
This book was awful. She acted like a 12 year old the ENTIRE book. It took me way too long to read because I really disliked her. I wanted to smack Blake and say “really???”
I really wanted to like this book because I usually love books by J. S. Cooper. But I hated the heroine. She was a moron. I know she was supposed to be funny as was the book but I didn’t think it was funny at all. I won’t go into details about Maggie, the heroine, but how anyone, including her girlfriends, liked her is beyond me.
Maggie Lane has the best plans or ideas but never seems to follow through with them. She tells a lot of white lies that get her into predicaments. She is a dreamer and very clueless woman. She full of drama and gets herself into the craziest trouble. Maggie character reminds me of Bridget Jones, she even writes a diary. Maggie wants to be a writer and find the love of her life but doesn’t go about it correctly. Actually she does all the wrong things. She bumps into her brothers best friend and her childhood crush and friend. Does he want to coach her to find the right guy or is it an excuse to test the waters? Can Maggie ever get it together?
I really enjoyed this book. Maggie Lane was annoying and I did want to smack some sense into her throughout the book. But I was rooting for her to figure it all out and get the guy and become the author she has the potential to be. If she can stop with the white lies and all the shenanigans . Can Maggie have it all? You must read this cute funny book to fine out! One click today!
This book is broken down into two parts. Part 1 and part 2 which is very helpful in my review. Part one I LOVED Maggie was hilarious, Blake sounded absolutely amazing. It had it all #humour #bestfriendlittlesister #friendstolovers #fakedates. It was very entertaining. The first part of this book could easily get 5stars from me.
HOWEVER!
The second part was a big let down, Maggie became immature, she entertaining immature in part one, now she became annoyingly immature. Playing games, lying and just down right annoying and cringe. Blake is a different person altogether. He's not sweet, caring and loving anymore. (In a way I wouldn't blame him having to put up with Maggie's antics.)
The story became rushed and didn't flow as nicely as part one, which is SO ANNOYING because I loved part one!!! Part two got a one star from me. The only reason this book is getting 3stars is because I loved the first part so much, other than that I do not recommend this book.
Maggie Lane and Blake Connor were friends a long time ago. Blake was her brother's best friend and spent a lot of time with them both. At the time, she thought he was a nerdy, gangly kid, but when she sees him again at the gym he's become a Greek god. Through a series of getting only half the story conversations, Maggie thinks he's somebody he's not. But she doesn't recognize him at all. When Blake first teases her and gives her hints as to his identity, she's truly surprised that it's the boy she knew so long ago. The only weakness of this story is Maggie's character. She is insecure about her weight, lies about, well, just about anything and has little girl dreams not based on reality. Blake is right when he said that he's there to help her grow up. Blake, to me, is the patient, ever-suffering boyfriend who is the voice of reason. I listened to the audible version and Bree Goodwin did a fine job with the narration. She has a well-modulated voice and I could easily tell the difference among all the characters.
This was a cute story about how the best plans always seem to go awry. Maggie Lane is an aspiring writer and always seems to get herself into some crazy situations. Blake Connor was her brother's best friend when Maggie was a little girl and years later, they reconnect. Blake decides he will be her boyfriend coach and things are great til Maggie realizes she actually wants him.
Maggie was a little childish and tended to from guy to guy even though she only really wanted one. She's obsessed with Bradley Cooper and tends to tell little white lies that get her into crazy situations. Blake seemed to be bailing her out constantly. The story was good though and had a happily ever after at the end.
Maggie is more of a dreamer than a doer. She has big plans to lose weight, marry Bradley Cooper and write a children's book. Her best friend has signed her up for a marathon and hasn't yet begun. Maggie runs into Blake when she signs up to try and get ready for the marathon. Maggie thinks that he's trying to get her to be a personal trainer. Blake has know Maggie for years, he was best friends with her older brother, but lost touch when he moved. Blake helps to motivate Maggie into becoming more of a doer. Maggie keeps finding herself in many crazy scenarios that keeps you wanting to find out what happens next
Can I just start off by saying I truly enjoyed this audiobook? Because I did. This was on point and super easy to follow along. I felt like the voice was perfect. Maggie is a quirky and cute character, and that is what you heard. When she did Blake it was a great transition. This book was a good one to try out if you're new to audiobooks. You never get lost, you can follow along really well and the story was hilarious. Maggie seriously got on my nerves with her choices, but you still end up loving the HEA. Blake just had the patience to be with her; you see how she can be so clueless sometimes, but you just end up getting sucked in. It was overall a great book.
This is one of those books that simply takes your breath away. Blake stole my heart, he was charming, caring, loving, and the list could go on. Blake is the perfect book boyfriend, I couldn’t get enough of him.
Maggie just wanted someone to love her and had a way of getting herself into messes. She needed a knight in shining armor to come and rescue her from all of it.
Will Maggie find her true love, her knight? Well you are going to have fo read the book to find out, and you are going to love it!!!
I received an ARC for an honest review. This book had me laughing at loud at times with the antics of the main character, Maggie. She is a dreamer who really hasn’t matured yet (and a size 12 is not a plus size.) Blake & her are truly soulmates but they don’t realize it at first. Honestly at one point I couldn’t stand Maggie anymore but she finally snapped out of it. Blake & Maggie have a fun loving friendship to lover relationship and all the chips finally fall into place for them. I would recommend this book to friends.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book. I have read several books by this author and this one was ok but definitely not one of my favorites. I found Maggie to be very immature and childish. She was always making up stories and getting herself into trouble. Blake was definitely more forgiving than he should have been. By the end of the book I liked Maggie more and she had definitely shown she had grown up some.
The Boyfriend Plan is a hilariously sweet and over the top romance comedy! Maggie had me laughing so many times! Oh how I could relate with her on so many levels! Blake is the perfect specimen of brother’s best friend grows up into handsome, perfect man! This book is all about finding one’s self and falling in love!
I definitely recommend reading the The Boyfriend Plan!
I love the story. A little different but I was greatly entertained. Loved the fact that the heroine of the story was a clueless good but so adorable. I was on the edge of my seat wondering what she would get into next I love that no matter what the circumstance love always wins. Brava!!!!!
Maggie and Blake will take you on a crazy ride. He's always been her crush but was her brother's friend. Reuniting after several years he agrees to be her boyfriend coach and one thing leads to another. One thing leads to another. Funny, amusing and steamy. Cute characters and an entertaining read that I read as an arc and voluntarily chose to review.
when the best plans never go the way you want , an aspiring write Maggie always gets her self into a bit of a pickle. so when she reconnects with her brothers friend Blake he offers to be her boyfriend coach. Blake constantly bails Maggie out of situations . but what happens when one falls for the other? Can things work out for once? will love find its way?
It’s fun and humorous story. Maggie will keep you entertained throughout the story with her humorous antics. I enjoyed the storyline. I loved the banter and connection between the characters. The sparks were hot. It cute story. The narrator did a great job of keeping you entertained. She keeps you connected with the characters and storyline. She brought the characters to live.
This book was great. If I could give this book more than five stars I would. It was funny all the things that Maggie got into it makes you wandered. Blake was perfect for her he understood and accepted her for her. Excellent book

I loved this cute story! Maggie was so funny and Blake was so sweet. Maggie needs help getting a boyfriend and who better to help than Blake. Will Maggie want to find a boyfriend or keep her boyfriend coach?
Do this is the first Audible from this narrator and author for me. This story was good overall, I did feel like Maggie needed to really grow up... and she went through a lot of growth throughout the book.
This was a rough read. I couldn't figure out why Maggie lied so much about so many little things. There was no explanation as to what caused her to be the way she was. I was half way in before I realized I couldn't continue this book but pushed through hope it would get better. It didn't.
Umm I did not love this at all. Pretty disappointed. Too much back and forth. Maggie is supposed to be 28 and acted like a teenager. There was no way Blake was a lawyer - just saying. Skimmed through this a lot.
