Cold As Ice: Killer Richard Kuklinski's Reign of Terror

Rate this book
Richard Kuklinski liked watching them die. Seeing the light in their eyes go out. He enjoyed knowing that the last thing they saw before dying was his face, looking down on them, wearing a big shit-eating grin. He really enjoyed these trips to Manhattan. Plenty of practice in different ways of killing people. He enjoyed the exercise too. To him, this was all the exercise he needed. Killing people and dumping their bodies off a bridge or slicing their guts open with his knife – to prevent any body gases from building up, so if they were dumped in a body of water they would be sure to sink instead of floating to the surface – and watching them die a slow, excruciating death. He was slowly but surely perfecting his craft. He was only nineteen years old. His reign of terror in within the New Jersey organized crime underworld would last for over two decades before he was put behind bars, but not before he left behind a legacy of murder and mayhem unlike anything the authorities had ever seen. In COLD AS ICE, author David Boyer digs deep into the life – and mind – of one of America's most famous yet feared contract killers, a man so cold and unfeeling toward his victims he was nicknamed The Iceman.

This book a read a while ago.

Basically he was renowned for killing countless people and working for the Italian mafia as a hitman.

He was eventually caught and they tied over 60 deaths to him, which he can recall.

He was the man to go-to for the Italian mafia if they wanted a rival family killed or "sent a message".

All I remember is, that his favorite sandwich was turkey on rye bread and he loved his daughters.

I do specifically remember his daughter's entry to the book, stating that, at Aged 13 she enjoyed sleeping with the ice cream man. She knew it was naughty and illegal but she enjoyed the pleasure of knowing her father could not have any power over her. She could influence an older man without her father's approval or disapproval giving her the power and freedom she wanted. I do not know if the offender was brought to justice. I do not know if her father ever found out.
Not graphic but a reference to underage sex so I would hazard caution to anybody that reads it.

Quite an interesting insight into the Italian Mafia though, some great images of the gangland shootings.

He was cold as ice because of how cool he was, it is evident in his interviews.

Would not really recommend it, but worth a read if you are interested in the cold-case murder tv shows and stuff. This guy will be the holy grail of it.

Interesting book

The author has written a compelling book about a psychopathic killer that is more or less entertaining depending on your mood. In the end justice prevails and I feel nothing for all the bad guys he killed, but, my heart goes out to all the innocent people he killed for no reason at all.

Plagiarist is too kind of word for this author. I can't believe Goodreads let him publish books on here. I do not recommend this, nor any of his other books, to readers.
