Definitely not stellar by any stretch of the imagination. Still. This was entertaining and exactly what I was in the mood for.

Edited to add: I'm gonna reiterate my comments on book one here since this applies to the whole series:

Book one review:

As my friend Meredith said in her review for this...this book is perfect when you feel like a decent Omegaverse...but have read all the good ones.

Meaning, it’s not stellar, but it scratches the itch.

Annoying, worse than the first

Ugh....where do I even begin? Second book in the series. The main female character has no real hobbies, interests, qualities to build her. Even her lame attempts at smarting off to the housekeeper she shuts up fast. Weak. Her attempts to fight the alpha? Weak as well. Why even bother saying you’re going to fight the bond and then do so the whole time pathetically? Then he has a doctor give her fertility drugs to FORCE her into heat to attempt to get her pregnant. Then after she comes out of her heat she’s magically okay with him....wtf? And then it’s clear he apparently did that because he ends up getting arrested so if she is pregnant they’ll have to put them back together. So why not try COMMUNICATING, yes that odd concept that apparently hardly any authors think people/characters do with anyone especially a bonded mate! All he had to do was say hey he might get arrested do you need to be pregnant blah blah. Secrets and forcing things hurts a relationship worse than open communication. OMG! But who knows what’s going to happen as of right now, because the book is left on a major not one, but TWO, cliff hangers. Is she? Will she be raped in the next book by the creepy government guy? Sit on those cliff hangers and spin apparently is what the author wants everyone to do until the third book drops. Her sister has been lied to about her whereabouts, her younger brother is running about. And a Legion apparently doesn’t care or he could have brought them to the compound. But nope. Tossed some credits and lies their way. Oh, and the sex scenes aren’t very graphic. So let’s see what happens in the third addition. Likely another basket of cliff hangers.

I actually liked this a little bit more than the first book. This is a good Omegaverse series if you have Kindle Unlimited. These books are too short to pay full price on Amazon, like other reviewers have mentioned. This series is not as epic as some of the Omegaverse stories out there. It's good to scratch an itch inbetween reads.

I'm going to come back and add more thoughts, because I understand the negative reviews, but the points made didn't bother me too much. I do think the author's characterization was slightly off for both MCs. I wasn't offended by it or anything. The MMC's behavior wasn't worse than any of the MMC's behavior in Wren's Song, for example. I wasn't expecting him to demonstrate good behavior. There is a safety issue: . While the "domination" theme could offend people, I kind of expect this in Omegaverse? I don't know if the MMC "loves" the Omega, but he's certainly obsessed with her. Since I didn't go into this expecting romance and love I wasn't bothered.

Usually the Alpha has to learn that he has to cave to the Omega in some way to get what he wants. The author hasn't given the Alpha an opportunity to do that yet. He does have an opportunity to redeem himself in the next book, I think. I was very interested in their bond connection...although the "I'm going to dominate your will" theme did get a bit tiring and seemed OTT. I like quiet Alphas who aren't constantly angry. Cold, calm, and calculated. So this Alphas anger wasn't to my liking, but it wasn't that bad.

The FMCs behavior didn't bother me. I mean,

I agree with the review that points out the flow of the story was off. I think the writer is talented, but more attention needs to be paid to plotting, the 'flow,' and characterization.

The world-building was good, and I found the information about how their bonds developed interesting & unique.

This series hasn't wholly grabbed me, even though it ends on a cliffhanger I don't feel an immediate need to start the next book.

I think this author is talented, and I will definitely check out more books from her that she publishes in the Omegaverse genre. I'd love for Lillian Sable to publish a full-length book.

Ok this is what I wanted to add:

I was hesitant to start the second book of this series because of all the reviews. Honestly Legion didn’t really bother me. What bothered me was the flow of the story. There’s a huge disconnect between the main characters and don’t even get me started on the ending.

I enjoyed the first book because Ianthe was a curious character for me. I liked that she was trying to hide that she was an Omega and I liked where the first book ended.

When Ianthe wakes up in Legion’s place, all Hell breaks loose. I get the dominate and submission play. I truly get it, but there’s a finesse to it, I don’t think the author got the grasp just yet.

I found Ianthe’s character very hard to be liked in the second book. Her pride and stubbornness made her character annoying. I thought she was a touch too much. I couldn’t take her lashing out at everyone, including the lady that washed her up. I mean, she didn’t want to get out of the bathtub to prove that she didn’t have to listen to her? Sheesh, talk about a brat.

I thought Ianthe would try a little harder to communicate to home. I’m glad that was brought out finally towards the middle, but instead of her trying so hard to go home, I wanted her to fight to make sure her family was okay. I kind of wanted to see the family moved in too, so Ianthe would have someone to talk to and confide to.

I also thought Ianthe’s family was a little annoying (her sister, since her brother wasn’t there) but I think the book needed a little positive and some support to help the flow of the story to move along better. When the entire book is angst, it becomes too much.

I thought the side plot of the King and Legion’s problem was lacking. It felt like two stories being told and it needed to be mixed into the main story better. There was a lot of “talking” but no real action. I felt like maybe Ianthe could have been written into this storyline too, just to make the flow better.

Then there was the ending. It did a 180 and it completely broke apart the flow of the story. There was no small lead-up or anything that could point in that direction and I believe that was the downfall of the book. It would have been better to ease into this new story plot, OR save the story plot for the next book once more things were established.

Overall, I’ll still read the series, but I would like to see…

1.) Better flow. Make sure there’s a good transition of of plot and side plot and somehow work everything into one plot, so it moves better.
2.) Less descriptive writing. I don’t need to know what the entire room looks like or what the characters are thinking 24/7. I’m pretty sure I knew Ianthe wanted to go home from the first moment. Keep the descriptive writing down (I consider this filler writing).
3.) Be a little more positive. Like I said, I didn’t mind Legion’s character, but Ianthe lashing out at the maid and having an awful sister, didn’t help the angst or negative vibe of the book. The main character needed at least one support system just to bring the book up a bit and keep the reader happy.
4.) This is just me but more kink and more steam. Make it a smutty book!

The positives.

I liked Legion’s character! I might be the minority on this one. I’m into dark books and his dominance and meanness didn’t bother me. I liked him because he’s so dead set on Ianthe and I’m a sucker for when the Hero chases after the Heroine.

That’s my two cents!

Spoilers ahead

This book was robbery without a gun.....

We begin with the h claimed and maimed by the H
We then proceed for 98% of the "book" with a constant back and forth that was the H harshly enforcing his rules and the h mouthing off....interspersed with sex and punishment because ya know she needed it 🙍
We continue like that until he forces another heat on her to get her pregnant, a couple fuckings later......she realizes he REALLY is her true mate 😒😑(that sex HAD to have been damn good because I can't find anything mate worthy in his über Alpha ass)
The best part of this book were a couple of interesting revelations, the H was mated before probably why he knew about being with an Omega something that had bothered me in book 1. She died..... Apparently he also saw the h on work and set up the entire scenario that ended with her at the House of Eros.....aside from that this was completely unnecessary.

Well, I enjoyed the series in general, but I won’t read any further books in this series.
If it wasn’t on kindle unlimited I wouldn’t have started this book no matter how good it would have been, due to the impudence of the author to sell those short stories as real books.
Despite that, I didn’t like the direction the story took.
You can’t build a story on the basis of a defiant and righteously so, female character, being disrespected and treated undignified, to just let her roll over like that, in the end. No matter the hidden agenda the counterpart did have. Without proper grovelling and suffering for the male part to get back into her good grace. Without a big gesture to redeem himself.
It defies the whole purpose, it defies the unspoken laws. It Contradicts all the thoughts and actions and words the female protagonist had.
Not only does it make the female character look like a doormat and shows weakness beyond repair to the reader, it also reflects a poor character I frankly don’t care about anymore.
The whole conflict of alpha/omega has the purpose to let the female come out stronger despite their anatomical differences, to be equal and free of being forced into a bond, which the author failed dramatically by the last sentences the character emitted. Which left her looking more pathetic than her few actual attempts during the book at standing up for herself.
So this all is a no go.

I tried, I REALLY did but no. That wasn't for me. I wasted my time. I'm done with this series and will try to find a good book to purge this one out of my system.

I’m into dark romances but I need to have a minimum of balance between both characters. Here there was none, the hero continuously diminish and abuse the girl and nothing she says or do will make him change, oh but SHE has to change for him of course –and she happily does because of the magic of lov-…SEXUAL ABUSE-

I don't know but my edition had A LOT of problems, like "Your mine" instead of "You're mine"...or the heroine refers to the hero as "Julian"...who the heck is Julian?? And again a "dhe" instead of a "she". Somebody needs to re-read the book before publishing it!!

Ianthe's deception has been discovered. Legion has uncovered her status as an Omega and promptly claimed her as his. His Omega.

Now a prisoner in Legion's compound, Ianthe is cut off from her family though Legion says that he'll allow her contact with them if she makes it worth his while.

* * *
Warning: This is a dark fantasy Omegaverse Dytopian tale that does include abuse, dub/non-con scenes that might stretch comfort zones, and graphic sex. This sort of story is intended for fans who appreciate this form of literature. Consider yourself warned.

Warning: This is a second in serial dark fantasy erotic romance series which means the story is incomplete with many unanswered questions left hanging that ends with a major cliffhanger.
Cost breakdown on Amazon:
Omega's Deception: 131 pages/$2.99
Omega's Capture: 145 pages/$3.99
Omega's Binding: 137 pages/$3.99
no further installments in series available or published but probable ........

Second in serial series installment that picks up immediently after Omega's Deception.

More details are revealed as follow ups for unresolved issues from the previous book though new open ended story line sub plots are added.

This book includes more graphic erotic scenes and centers on the actual day to day evolving relationship between Legion & Ianthe. It isn't until the later portion of the story that the beginning of this story's major cliffhanger ending is introduced. Another whopper of a cliffie.

My issues. Pet peeve when story line details and premises are changed or altered to reflect a different take on things. Also. how many times does Legion get to renege on a promise? Seriously.

While I'm a fan of the serial, I wish I had waited for a box set/total series one book before grabbing this.

Okaaaaaayyyy...

First of all, Ianthe was annoying. She fought against him so hard. And against what she fought?I mean this is Omegaverse, right? She's from the slumms! She was ready to become a hooker for a one night and now when Alpha wants to claim her, to give her stable home and freaking clean air and riches, while she can save her sister and brother and give all of them good life? She's like, noo I hate you, I hate Alphas etc. It doesn't make any sense! Not at all! She's bitchy, she doesn't know what the fuck she wants.

This series had a good potential. The world was interesting where they lived, hierarchy was interesting, lack of clean air and how Legion fit into it all, and what was his role but anything between them just went weird.

Ianthe just came out at wannabe righteous and self sacrificing, oh I'm going to Eros to prostitute myself out for my family's sake but hey one guy wants to provide for me and my family whole life? No way, I will fight to get back to the slumms.. slumming.

Like, everyone who have been so poor, they would sell any part of their body to get a better life.

This review is going to be a rant so if you really like the book or the author don’t read on.

So I know many readers are excited/aroused by books with dubious consent sex between the Heroine and the Hero. I don’t mind reading books with rape/abuse when the perpetrator is presented as a villain of the story but when these acts are committed by the Hero I hate it. This is because it feel too close to condoning these acts as the Hero is supposed to be the ‘good’ guy or at least the guy we are rooting to get the girl even if his ‘good’ status is questionable. With dubious consent books I am hesitant, some I don’t mind and some I think are actually rape and a lot of what makes the distinction is if the Hero respects the Heroine.

With the first book in this series there was dubious consent when the Hero spanks the Heroine in Eros House. She obviously is in pain when he hits her and she is only there to support her family, if she had a real choice she wouldn’t be doing it. However, she did agree to go to Eros House of her own free will and accepted that she might have to endure some unsavoury things, therefore, it wasn’t rape. Still the Hero was on shaky grounds with me because I knew he didn’t care if she was in pain and if she had said/screamed ‘no’ he probably wouldn’t have stopped.

Going into this second book I was hesitant and was hoping the Hero would redeem himself in some way such as show genuine compassion for the Heroine or to show that he does respect her wishes at least somewhat. I hoped because he was a Crime Lord and obviously disregards the law that he wouldn’t care about the law that Omegas are slaves and treat the Heroine as an equal, but nope. The Hero treats the Heroine as a slave and even says to her “you don’t know what you want” which is basically saying he is allowed to treat her however he wants because she doesn’t have a right to her own opinions. This is too much like a rapist saying ‘she wanted it really’.

However, my biggest problem with this book is that the Hero actually RAPES the Heroine. He gives her fertility drugs twice without her knowledge in order to make her want to have sex with him. This is like a rapist using a date rape drug and it is irrelevant whether the Heroine likes it or not it is still rape. Also, when he growls/purrs at her to get her aroused knowing her biology will prevent the heroine from making clear decisions, I found that to be rape too as he knows the heroine wouldn’t have sex with him otherwise.

So, to summarise, this book has the Hero raping the Heroine. Can’t stand it.

The relationship goes another way than what I expected when he tries to negotiate her submission for the well being of her family. The housekeeper bit was a bit pointless and there is no real character building for her. But I like it that she is kept in the dark for most of his business negotiations and all the other boring city stuff.

I was greatly disappointed with this book's ending. The whole book is about the main character' loss of her freedom and the will not to be considered as property. The question asked is whether one's choice comes from nature or freedom of will and education ?

The ending just forgets all about that questioning (which seemed central to me as it is the question Ianthe must answer to chose what will her relationship with Legion be) just for the sake of the next book's plot. One second she is all about freedom and the next she has embraced her true nature of submission... It really is an anti-climax.

In book 2 we get a little more insight on Legion and Ianthe's relationship. We also see a sneak peak of what kind of man he once was, and maybe still can be to her - behind his cold and calculating exterior. Like the first book we end on a cliffhanger, which I never like - but the suspense is such that I was kept at the edge of my seat during the entirety of this book. We are introduced to more characters and the plot thickens. I am really looking forward to the 3rd one.

I struggled with my rating, because even though I really enjoyed the book, I like the plot, I have a sort of...Fallout feeling to the world of Pandora (though I have to admit that since the movie Avatar - reading a book in the Omegauniverse with the same name for the world as what was in the film, puts me off slightly and confuses my mind for a fast second every time it's named. hehe)

If I had anything negative to say about the book it would be that I found this particular copy (I didn't find the same problem in the 1st book, Omega's Deception) to have what I feel is an extreme amount of spelling mistakes. It even going so far as to have, at one point, the wrong name of the character! Legion is called Julian in one particular sentence. There are also far too many sentences that are also grammatically incorrect simply because there is a repeat of the same word in the wrong context of the sentence, which means the reader has to correct it for themselves.
So something has gone wrong here at the branch responsible for checking these things. It might be that I am unlucky with my copy - but I can only review what I have received for my money.

My review is for all three books is here https://www.goodreads.com/review/show... I do use the spoiler function.

This is a three-part dystopian Omegaverse featuring Ianthe and Legion. She is the sole support of her poverty-stricken family; thus, she takes suppressants to hide her dynamic. He is a powerful cartel boss determined to unmask her. Throw in some political machinations and Metropolis-inspired class hierarchy and you have the beginnings of an interesting narrative. Trigger Warnings for Dub-Con, , and cliffhangers.

Short Version: I liked the first book, but the second and third are riddled with editing errors, inconsistencies, and plot holes. Between that and the too-high price for relatively short books (they're no longer on KU), I do not recommend this series and would only read more of this author if she hired an editor.

The overall storyline is pretty good - reminiscent of Addison Cain’s omegaverse - and I’d like to see where the author takes it. I struggle with the Omega. While I get where she is coming from, I feel like there could be more depth to the character. It was hard to like her in this book. This book could also use a red pen taken to it. Such simple editing errors, but enough of them to be really annoying. Legion is even referred to as Julian at one point. That said, I do still plan on reading the next book in the series.

DNF @ 25%

So, I didn't really like the first one. There was no relationship building, the world building was meh, and the whole plot was pretty been-there-done-that. So why pick up the next one? Well, a part of me was hoping that once Legion "claimed" Ianthe, there would actually be some sort of relationship/character development.

Perhaps something happens farther into the book, but I just couldn't go on anymore because Ianthe is just so whiny and awful. Can nothing please this girl? She complains about living in a place with clean air and water. Seriously? You've been living in a slum where you're slowing being poisoned to death by your environment, and you are going to pout like a five-year-old about being told that you can't go back there? It's just bullshit. There's toughness, and there's stupidity, and Ianthe is so far on the stupidity side, that I just can't read one more page of her inane rants.

description

Also, this book could do with another round of editing. Several "their" "they're" errors, as well as little spelling errors like "on" instead of "one"

TW-

I think this is exactly what Omegaverse books should be. This world is dirty, cruel, and underhanded ....so this really works for me. I haven't seen a world this ugly since Isoellen's 12 Sector Series.

This Alpha -whoa!- he is controlling, manipulative, and paternalistic. If you don't like these characteristics in your MMC, this is not the book for you. You've been warned. He does not have a heart of gold nor is he interested in anything other than exactly what he wants. He tells the MFC Choice is an illusion when she complains about being kidnapped and forced into estrus. He isn't effing around, but I kinda like it....

I was really loving this. I loved how possessive of her he was. I loved how he could be a real jerk and she was not backing down. She was fighting him as much as she could.

Then it got really good. He crossed a line that I just knew was going to be too much.

He forced her into estrous. He had a doctor inject her and then waited until she was delirious and made her beg him for relief. And I was eating it all up waiting for her to be clearheaded again and let him have it. But instead it worked exactly as he wanted. She saw him differently? Suddenly she started accepting him and her circumstances? What? And then when the authorities come to take them away she decides she is an avenging angel and will stop at nothing to get her mate back? What? What just happened?

I’m on board with the avenging angel stuff, because I want them together, I want them to be a power couple. But first that Alpha needs to be brought low by his little omega. THAT is what I was waiting for, and I thought that was where this was going. Ugh I’m always disappointed in this regard.

I love an Alpha who is a jerk. But I only love him because I expect him to at some point answer for his jerky ways. What I do not love is when the female is always the one who has to make concessions. She is always the one who has to accept a bitter truth or accept a new reality. I hate that. I want him to accept that his actions can go too far sometimes, and he isn’t as all-knowing as he thinks. And I thought that’s where this was going. I thought there was even some foreshadowing when Adrian warns him he might need to try a different approach with Ianthe. But no, I was disappointed once again.

I’m still eager to finish the story, but it definitely just lost a lot of its luster for me, with the way she just caved and then in a blink of an eye was all team Legion, without him having to grovel or anything.

A woman who is genetically predisposed to completely submit to an Alpha...um... I didn't think I would like it , since I prefer strong women, but I felt like this heroine was actually strong. She fought against being an Omega and just wanted to live as normally as she could.

Ianthe is the sole breadwinner for her siblings, the only one physically capable of earning money, she is offered a job, which would go a long way towards surviving in the slums of Pandora, she takes it. After all, it was only for a single night at an exclusive club catering to the elite Alphas. However, Ianthe is hiding a long-kept secret, one which would be disastrous for her and her family.

Alpha Legion Aristophus controls the city and something about the woman he met that night was pulling him to her, and Legion is driven and determined to find out what that is. She is more than she seems, and her beautiful response to him spurs a hunt for all the details of her life. The truth of which, may be the ultimate prize for him.

Ok, sooooooo this book was ok just like the first one. There was nothing really spectacular about this book however, I did like the concept. The book has potential and I wish the author gave our heroin some backbone. She caved too easily and when she had the opportunity to make some really good points she kept her mouth shut. like damn girl....... come on. I really wished she had put up more of a fight because half of the punishments she got weren't even justified. I mean girl you know that he's manipulating you and yet you allow him.
I also felt bad for her siblings....... it felt like she wasn't trying hard enough for them. It took a while to get information on them from Legion.
I honestly don't think it should have taken 3 books for the story to be told.

I don't think imma read the third book. If I do I was probably extremely bored.

Did not see that coming

I am torn on how I feel about book two- the story is engaging don't get me wrong and I really really like the world building
Their relationship is intense though I am not happy with Legion at the moment
There is a lot of political upheavals that I would have enjoyed a bit more background on - it adds to the suspense and IMO it needs more exposure - we are given these little crumbs without ever getting the chance to taste the goods - I need answers
Just something was missing for me in this installment
This does end on a cliffhanger so be prepared
Also, a few grammatical errors that are annoying - the reason for the loss of star
Definitely looking forward to book 3 as I need to know what happens!

I really disliked the horrible transition from hating the person who kidnapped, forced and abused you to somehow overnight discovering this overwhelming love and passion for said person. Like what the hell? What happened to self respect and self love?? Legion literally didn't do anything to earn her trust nor did he do anything other than using her biology against her to control her. He wants to own her not because he cares, he just does it because he wants to with a total disregard for her wishes or wants.

Honestly sounds like stockholm syndrome to me.
I kept hoping for some moment where Legion would show and prove that he loves her and thus, gain her trust and affection. BUT NO SUCH THING.

Ugh, I regret reading it.

Ianrhe continues to fight her Alpha as problems in Pandora threaten to knock at Legion's door. Decent story telling though the series continues to mimic other authors in this Omegaverse setting. This edition needs editing due to multiple errors. "She" instead of "he," " thought " instead of "though." Not sure if I'm that invested to get Book 3 . I think I need a break from omegas.
