More than the story, I think the symbolism that's been used is going to stay with me for a long time.

The more I read Kesava Reddy, the more I absorb the stories around me, better.

It combines the life of a yanadi man and his son, a dog, and a visitor's time together and weaves their thoughts and situation with layered depiction of the class struggle, exploitation, vilification of certain tribes as inherently criminal, zamindars systemic exploitation and so on. It also portrays how the lower castes were brainwashed to the core to serve the upper classes and accept their dire state as just fate. Keshava Reddy also portrays how beautiful their life could become and hints at a realistic possibility that they too can own land and have family and wealth. The daily life of a yanadi man catching rats is as real as it gets and reminded me of the opening scenes from surya's Tamil movie Jai Bhim. The text might be difficult to understand for a urban reader, but totally nostalgic and enjoyable for someone from a rural or agriculture based family.

Kesava reddy garu has a unique way of story telling... The characters he choses and his depiction of vulnerability the characters face by virtue of their assigned social hierarchy is unparalleled...
