Forced together, they are castaways on an unknown planet.
The last thing Tannish knew, he was in a nightclub, dancing the night away and pretending his life was fine. But, the moment Tannish feels the warmth of Enzo's arms, he finally feels like he's home.
An unbreakable bond that comes with a powerful new ability
Until now, Enzo's first passion has always been medicine. As a doctor he helps, he fixes, he remains impartial. But not when it comes to Tannish. With Tannish, Enzo wants it all. He wants to own Tannish, claim him, possess him. Before he does any of that, he must protect him.
Taken hostage by an unfriendly alien force, Enzo and Tannish can only rely on each other for protection. They have a bond; a connection that neither can explain fully. When their bond grows, a life is created, one neither thought possible. Enzo will do anything to protect his new, budding family, but unfortunately for him, so will Tannish. With both willing to risk it all, can they find their happily-ever-after?
CRASHED is the second book in the Akar Chronicles. It can be read as a standalone but would be better enjoyed in order.
This is the second book of the Akar Chronicles and I’d say it could stand alone.
Tannish is taken captive at the same time as his friend Phoenix. Despite being in a coma, Enzo is drawn to him from the start. When Phoenix tries to escape the ship, taking an unconscious Tannish with him, Enzo rescues him. They end up crashing on another planet.
Their main objective is to stay safe until Jax and his crew can rescue them. Things don’t quite work out how they want, when the hostile inhabitants of the planet find them. In the meantime, they can’t ignore their bond and grow to love each other.
I enjoyed this just as much as the first. It’s action packed, but through it all, you can see the bond forming and getting stronger. The bond is what helps keep them alive, because they are able to feel everything the other does, from emotions to pain.
This is actually light on the romance and sex scenes, but the growing love still comes through throughout the story.
Another good story in this series. I'm liking this series. The characters are endearing but tough. I love the bonds they form. A little added bonus to their mating. In the first one, Cargo, Tannish and his friend Phoenix were taken in a nightclub. By 'aliens’. Tannish’s body couldn't handle what he was going through in space and he ended up in a coma. Phoenix had tried to save them by escaping in a shuttle, but the shuttle has a few problems. Phoenix ended up in space, saved by his mate, but Tannish was soaring through space in a coma. Alone. Enzo didn't even blink, he jumped out into space and propelled himself after Tannish, finally reaching the shuttle. But everything is out of control and he does his best to crash them into a planet that can sustain life. Enzo refused to leave Tannish's side no matter what. He wasn't quite sure what he was feeling but he knew Tannish was his. Tannish wakens but has no clue what's going on. All he knows is he's not home and in the arms of a man he feels something for but shouldn't. They do all they can to try to repair the ship and get a message out to their ship, getting closer each day. But are eventually captured by other beings living there. Enzo finds out their kind is somewhat related, and the 'leader’ is not who he claims to be. Now it's a race against time trying to get off the planet before they are kidnapped to worse places or killed. I really like Tannish from the start. He was so full of life until an ’ex’ changed things. I felt so bad for him. Enzo seems perfect for Tannish when he first lays eyes on him. Granted, he is the doctor, but there was something between the two. Enzo felt protective of him from day one. When he thought he almost lost Tannish, he snapped. He couldn't imagine life without him. And Tannish needed someone who would care for him the right way. They were perfect for each other. And I fell in love with them. There's a twist to the end of this one. I'm anxious to see where this is headed.
I gave this book three stars because I enjoyed the characters in this book, and in this series, but the sci-fi in this book was horrible.
First with the bad - Why would Enzo have to fight against the weight of a spacesuit in space? What exactly is an asteroid storm, I mean does the solar wind of this system somehow create vortices of rock in random places?! Why was it a surprise that the planet that they ended up on had multiple satellites, wouldn't they have been rather obvious from space? How did the local star's energy somehow not reach the surface of the planet until well after dawn, and darkness descend rather abruptly without much of any dusk? The lighting in the caverns didn't make sense with as little daylight as this planet gets, and caverns seem to be a particularly unwise source of shelter considering the chitters. Basically, Lupar was the planet in the movie Pitch Black (which was a very fun movie), without even the benefit of the sketchy science behind it's probability.
Ignoring the terrible setting of this story, I always enjoy the characters that Ms. Burrelli creates. Tannish was a great character who I really felt like I could empathize with. I liked seeing him deal with waking up and having no real reason to trust Enzo, but feeling the pull of the mating bond. It was cool to see him be strong in a different way than Phi, but still just as capable.
*I voluntarily read this book. All opinions stated are solely my own and no one else's*
This is the second book in the Akar Chronicle series and although it can be read as a stand-alone, I would recommend reading them in order.
I was eagerly looking forward to reading Tannish and Enzo’s story and it was well worth the wait.
Tannish finds himself waking up on an alien shuttle with an alien talking to him. Why isn’t he afraid of the mysterious alien?
Tannish took things a lot better than I thought he would. He was brave yet protective of Enzo especially, when their bond got tested. Enzo was sweet and I loved how honestly he opened his heart to Tannish. Their bond was beautiful and made my toes curl.
A gripping story with several intense yet touch and go moments. The MCs faced many challenges, obstacles and dangers yet their love for each other never faltered or weakened. I really enjoyed this one and look forward to the next.
I loved this book even more than the first I think. I loved the tense relationship between Enzo and Tannish at first, and their gift was perfect for this story. The Luparians were a great addition to the series and I love Kane!
Predictions for the next book which I can’t wait to read:
I thought Zooey and Kane would be a thing with the way she looked at him, but Wren at the end notices Kane and maybe him and Kane? That would be cool. And for sure Billy and Vrak.
Tannish and Enzo.. I thought their relationship is going to be the easy one when I read the blurb. Well, I found I was wrong again. I definitely know one thing, though. I really want to pay that Sterling a visit and.. beat him into a pulp like Enzo wants to do. Damn a**hole.
I admit being quite annoyed at Tannish at the beginning, though. I don't like his behavior, especially towards Enzo. I'm glad that he had a change of heart, though. Definitely for the better. I put all the blame to that Sterling guy. Ugh. He's the worst!
If the book one got me gripping tightly at my pillows.. well this one got me really on edge from the moment they get taken by the people from the planet they crashed through. It was all scary scene for me while they stay in the Luparian underground village. That damn a**hole Haldir.. I'm still seething with that guy. Oh! Please also add Jorlin to my sh*t list. I want to do to him (Haldir) what he did to Enzo. Stupid, corrupt leader, he was. I'm glad the whole tribe isn't like him. Gilda, Glandon, and their family was so helpful to them. Their youngest is also adorable.
I got scared for them when the Blind Walk was discussed. It was so barbaric, that I still want to punch Haldir every time I remember! I thought Alderon was an a**hole as well. Glad that he isn’t. I'm sad for him when I read about his brother and his mate, though. Here's to hoping that they’re still alive. At least Alderon got his mate(?) back to him at the end, though. So much pining there. And you got to look out for drunk Alderon! That was definitely a sight to see! LOL.
When I read their gift, I was honestly surprised. When I read the gifts from the two couple from the book 1, I never thought of any possible gifts I might come across. So cool! Well, not cool with the part that they can feel the pain of the other.
We got to meet other creatures here as well. Those ugly chitters. What a way to have a curfew hours, though. Maybe I got to try to have a vacation there some time. *laughs*
It was always so amusing when they thought the tiny blob was a tumor.. poor babies. And Tannish being so amused at the idea of Phi being pregnant. What was so amusing for me is whenever he sees the pheril *cackles* he's always wary of that tiny guy, and did that creature really wink at him? That's a sight to see. Also, don't forget the seed and fart conversations.. that's just epic.
The scene when they're doing their escape gave me some terror. Thank God that our gang (Jax crew) decided to show their presence there and then. There also the rescue mission, and those two snatchers. Those two are the worst, and the AkarFed is getting more annoying every second. Also, that labor scene! So intense, I was holding out my breath. And yay, more babies! So, is Kane a part of the gang now? I wonder if there's going to be something between him and Wren. Enzo mentioned a lot that he's a lot like Wren and the last scene.. well maybe I'm just thinking things. And now we're going to Billy, right? Is he also going to be part of the crew? I wonder what's going to be the setting in the next book, and whom he's gonna be paired with. I have a hunch of who, though. If I'm right, it's going to be a riot.
*** A copy of CRASHED was kindly provided by the Author in exchange for an honest review.
This is the second book in the Akar Chronicles. I didn't get a chance to read the first story, but this book is certainly a stand alone, and though the characters of the first book do appear, it does not detract from the main story. This book deals with Tannish Patel, the second human kidnapped along with Phoenix from the first book, and the Akarian crew doctor, Enzo. Tannish ends up in a coma, after being kidnapped by the Akarians, so he doesn't know that Enzo has recognized him as someone special to him. Enzo realizes that there is an emotional connection between the human and him, although he doesn't understand it, he does his best to take care of Tannish, while he recuperates. Unfortunately, though Phoenix's well intentioned actions, Tannish and Enzo end up shipwrecked in a hostile planet, where they have to survive enemies and super creepy monsters. The story is fun, Enzo is a sexy alpha type, with a caring side, which gets exponentially stronger when he realizes how important Tannish is. Tannish, on the other hand, pretends to be strong, even though he's terrified of all his circumstances, as he should be, being a human and waking up from a coma, surrounded by alien beings. Enzo is caring and loving, which is just what Tannish needs, and their love is very sweet and believable. The suspense is always present and the secondary characters are likable as well, although I would have liked to see a bit more exposition about the villains of the story. There is action in and out of the sheets, as befits a space saga, and it is easy to picture the story, with the crisp descriptions and consistent pacing. It was a fun, easy read, and I will be happy to read the next book of the Akar Chronicles, as the tensions between the crew and the federation that enslaves their home planet keep heating up.
This is an extremely intriguing & entertaining Mpeg Alien romance, and a absolute pleasure to read. The plot is suspenseful with intriguing unexpected occurrences. The characters are well-developed with individual personalities and have realistic emotional feelings of fear, wants, needs & desire. It is about: a young man (Tannish) who for some rhyme or reason wakes up in a strange man's arms (Enzo) and although he tries to explain to that they have been in space for weeks and crashed, Tannish is having a hard time believing this. On the other hand, Enzo wants to claim & posses Tannish and will protect him at all costs. There is: aliens, humans, a hot alpha male alien, a disbelieving human male, intrigue, twists & turns, adventure, action, abduction, space ships, danger, enemies, hostile, inhabitants, strange creatures, crash landing, fear, worry, concern, urges, embarrassment, attractions, memories, emotional turmoil, trauma, defiance, desire, bonds, strange abilities, captured, cruelty, beaten, a challenge, mates, surprises, secrets, deceit, betrayal, rescued, conflict, happiness, love & some steam. I enjoyed reading this Sci-Fi romance and look forward to the next book with great anticipation, I would recommend this book.
Omg I loved this story so much.. it was completely captivating n I was so so hooked.. I literally couldn’t put the book down.. this is a fantastic series and I’m getting attached to all it’s characters.. ughhhh I love love love this book.. He is so brave n so resilient and I love kind caring and loyal Enzo who literally jumped into space to save the human that he loved.. their bond, their Relationship was so so so beautiful.. I love how it progressed and grew. How Tannish came to trust Enzo.. and I love how patient Enzo was while waiting for Tannish to feel what he felt. I loved this second book in the Akar Chronicles! It was great to see more of Tannish. Amazing how Kiki could make me want so badly to know more about someone who spent almost all of the first book and the beginning of the second book unconscious. LOL Maybe because Phi's devotion to him as a friend made me think Tannish must be a pretty great person, and I wasn't wrong. Tannish is sweet and kind and caring. He had a bad prior relationship that left him feeling insecure, weak, and worthless. I loved how Enzo showed him how wrong he was. It was wonderful to watch Tannish open up and blossom. I hope Enzo gets to meet Sterling...alone...in a dark alley. But I digress.^^ I can't wait for the next book. I hope Vrak finds his mate. He deserves to suffer the throes of love that he has been razzing his friends about!
I received a complimentary ARC from the author. This is my honest, voluntary review.
This is a great addition to the Akar Chronicles series and I really enjoyed it. The author has created an intriguing and interesting universe with amazing characters. Tannish and Enzo are a fun and quirky couple that have a strong connection even before they properly meet. They have a lot to deal with and find themselves in a very tenuous situation when their shuttle crashes on Lupar. They meet some wonderful people along the way as well as a few villains. While they struggle to survive and learn more about their bond they hope that Jax and his crew will get to Lupar in time to rescue them. The only thing that would make this story better for me is more background information about Lupar and the people that live there. I love the ending and I look forward to reading the next book in this exciting series.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
Crashed is the second book in Kiki Burrelli''s Akar Chronicles series. It tells is what happens to the human man Tannish after he was kidnapped with his friend at a club by Aliens on a mission. Luckily, he is with the sexy alien Enzo... unluckily the planet their crashed ship landed on is anything but friendly to its newest visitors. And don't forget that strange pull the two men feel towards each other.
This is a good read. Book one was interesting and book two holds up to that expectation. The story is well written and highly entertaining.
I received an advanced reader's copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review and recommendation.
I have read both Cargo and Crashed and they are such good books with fabulous main and secondary characters. The alien world building is so vivid you can really picture it and both books have a really solid storyline with excitement and budding romance. The fated mates this time is between alien and human characters and is written so well with wonderful plot twists and humour. This author is a go to favourite of mine and I have bought every one of her books and will continue to do so. If you're a fan of mm romance with exciting storylines involving shifters and now aliens and HEA or HFN endings then you must read her books!!
The problem between Tannish and his ex, his trauma, everything was a real problem that you could find in real life eventhough it seems dramatic. I can really feel what Tannish feel :( I'm so gald he could meet with a man like Enzo! Go away you, Sterling! Hate that man :(
In the beginning, I got a little mad when I Tannish become so stubborn and denied everything that his heart feel. But, thanks in the end his insticnt won and he accept Enzo completely :)
You always did a good job, Kiki! Thanks for made them their own story!
This is the second book but can be read as a standalone. I was leary at first because I'm not a big fan of alien mpreg books. I enjoy this author's other books so I decided to give it a chance. I'm glad I did. It was so intriguing that I had to force myself to put it down. Enzo and Tannish were so well written and the story flowed that I felt like I was there and experiencing everything with them. I can't wait for the next book. I voluntarily reviewed an Arc and leaving an unbiased and honest review.
This story was definitely intense and intriguing, although, I didn't much like the violence that was done to some of the main characters, the story still had me pulled in and fascinated with the creatures that this author has created. I enjoyed it the most when all of the characters were back together again. This was full of excitement and also full of heart. I also appreciated the fact that new friends were made. Excellent series.
This story between Enzo and Tannish is perfect. Enzos love for Tannish is so strong and their journey finding their feelings for each other was so satisfying. Lots of drama and hot hot man on man. I'm certainly hoping for more! You can't go wrong with a Kiki Burrelli story .
I really like njoyed this second book in the Alarm Chronicles series. The main characters, Enzo and Tannish were likeable, but not sickly sweet. While this series has fated mates, it still managed to give the mates some angst and tension. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. I hope the next set of characters are as likeable as the first two sets!
Second book of the series really enjoyed it, loved Tannish he and Enzo made a great couple. Can't wait for book 3 loving your new series Kiki Burrelli I would give it more than 5 stars of i could, highly recommend it.
Good 2nd book. But you need to read the 1st book or this one won't make sense. At the end the amount of people talking got a tiny bit overwhelming to keep up with...but I like all the characters...I really hope she writes a story for wren!!!!
I have enjoyed both books so far and, in my opinion, they need to be read in order to get the most out of the on going story arc. I loved the action and the romance and have to say that the book combines them to perfection.
This was a great sequel to Cargo. Tannish and Enzo are so cute together! I loved getting to see yet another planet and the crew! I’m now very curious to see who Vrak is going end up with, Billy maybe? I guess we’ll see in the next book, I’m really looking forward to it!
Second book in series. I actually enjoyed this book a little better that 1st. Tannish and Enzo were an interesting couple and the story line and additional world building was more memorable. An enjoyable quick read sci-fi with m/m and mpreg elements.
Finding out what happens to the shuttle, and the scary critters, how the natives of the planet survive, and the deceptive, cruel leader is a story of love, fear, and intrigue. Looking forward to the next book and it's surprising tale. ☺
really liked this series so far. i am looking forward to whatever else you have coming up in this series. i think everyone should give this book a read.
