Bravo!! Congratulations, Emma, on your first novel release!! Eeee!! How exciting!

Mrs. Willows is a captivating read following Shauna, a 16 year old girl, as she tries to help her family stay on their feet after her dad looses his job. She's smart, faithful, and quick-witted but she has a very hard time getting along with Mrs. Willows, the old woman she's caring for.

This book is well written with an interesting story plot, wonderful descriptions, and characters that grab at your heart strings. I liked Shauna, her brothers, parents, friends, and yes, even Mrs. Willows. I related to Shauna throughout the entirety of the book because we're always messing up in the kitchen no matter how simple the task may seem. :P I felt for Mrs. Willows just like Shauna did. I felt sad that she decided to close herself off from God's light and love throughout her life and, like Shauna, I just wanted her to listen to the good news of Christ! Emma's descriptions of people, places, and things were simple yet vivid. Mrs. Willows house wasn't exactly warm and inviting, but it held a lot of history. So even though I would have wanted to turn around and leave just like Shauna, I also wish we could have gotten to explore Mrs. Willows house and hear every story behind every picture and knick-knack.

The only thing that really didn't seem right to me was Shauna's argument with her best friend, Janice. I thought it was pretty ridiculous and she should have made up right away, but I suppose friends have their spats every now and then, even silly ones. I also can't imagine myself being so forward and sometimes disrespectful towards Mrs. Willows as Shauna was on occasion. But that's part of her character and I think she learns some valuable lessons with that.

There are so many things I love about this book and only a couple things that I didn't agree with but overall, I love this book and am so happy I read it. (In just 3 sittings to boot!! :D ) Most importantly, I'm always on the look-out for good, true, and beautiful fiction, whether it's Christian or not. They're so hard to find but Mrs. Willows is definitely a great read that fulfills these qualities. If you want to read something that is honest, fun, inspiring, godly, and free of sex, language, and vice, than I highly recommend that you read Mrs. Willows. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Congratulations again, Emma!! You did an incredible job!!! <3 <3 <3
