A reporter, a police detective and a university professor all find themselves entangled in a web of mystery as a serial killer strikes in the college town of West Chester, Pa. Ellis Carter, a young journalist at the West Chester Daily Local, sparks his own investigation when the woman he meets goes missing and must reach into his past to revive a passion for paranormal research. Newly promoted Detective Kerri Gallagher is trying to escape her past, but the same mistakes keep haunting her as she tries to solve a missing persons case that regrettably turn into her first murder investigation. Professor Grayson West, whose life has been turned upside down through tragedy and heartbreak, is trying to rebuild his life, but several obstacles lead to questions and startling answers he can't bear to share with anyone. As each searches for answers of their own, it will take all they have to see the forest through the trees.
'Mark Patrick' is a pair of long-time friends working together to build a series of novels that will feature paranormal elements that aren't too overbearing, yet just enough to leave you in suspense. As co-authors, Jimmy (Patrick) Johnson and Mark Wisniewski bring together multiple characters to tell a single story. Johnson is a multimedia professional with a background in print journalism, while Wisniewski is a high school English literature teacher. Both authors reside outside of Philadelphia.
This book has very interesting story line, and gets more intense as the story continues. It’s set in West Chester, PA. Grayson is an English professor who lost his young daughter to cancer. His wife left him after the death of their daughter. Grayson feels like his whole life has fell apart. One night he goes to the pub where his younger brother tends bar, and ends up spending the night with one of his students. He has guilt feelings. The girl drops not only his class, but out of college. The plot twists and turns from there. I loved the surprise ending
Worth the read for fans of suspense. Though I'm not big on paranormal stories, this story was enhanced, not overwhelmed, by that backdrop. It requires some attention to follow through the time changes as the chapters go along, but you're a smart-enough reader to follow them, right? I will be reading the other Mark Patrick novel next.....
I am a good editor and proofreader. Sometimes that hampers my ability to read novels. Errors of place, time, anything, can halt my progression. This book is first in a long time that has rushed me, faster and faster toward it’s end.
