I’ve been sold to Alain Dumortier. I was delivered to his doorstep naked as the day I was born, and two weeks later I haven’t got a stitch of clothing to my name.

This should have been an easy assignment. Get in, have him fall under my spell, grab every little piece of intel I can find, and then assassinate him. They were simple instructions, and ones I’d followed countless times before. What could go wrong?

Just about everything. Alain’s kept me imprisoned and drugged up to my eyeballs. The mind games he’s playing are nearly my undoing, but it’s hard battling a body that’s full of barbiturates or opium. There’s one more problem, too.

I think I’m falling in love with the bastard.

And that was how our story began. Little did I realise, but even though I was half in love with James back then, I would soon forget all about him in less than two weeks time. As unbelievable as it sounds, it was the truth. When the doors of Carte Blanche opened for me, they would strip my world bare, and I’ve never been a girl who was fond of black and white. Though James had tried his best to warn me, it wasn’t until I was on the road of no return that I realised I had made the biggest mistake of my life. All alone, and with no one to turn to, I’d made my bed, but lying in it was almost impossible. Alain Dumortier was out for blood. Mine.

After completing a brief but intensive week of submissive training, Lois Reeves is poised to enter the slave auction in hopes of infiltrating her target’s compound. Right out of the gate, Lois is immersed into a strange world of powerful men and deviance but she is determined to complete her assignment and possibly earn an orgasm or two in the process.
“Remember you’re a slave now. You have no purpose in life except to please me and all the people around me.”

With the knowledge that her buyer prefers a feisty and extraordinary slave to break, Lois stays on course by showing just enough coquettish naiveté yet equally breaking etiquette. As such, her behavior requires punishment and a dangerously handsome man is eager to leave his mark.
“You are one ballsy bitch, you know that?” A cold steel band was placed around my right wrist, and there was a sharp click as the ratchet locked. “You have no idea,” I replied.”

From the beginning, it’s known Lois is on a destructive course based upon her past and he absolute need to complete this task. With a strong resilience, she endures each phase required of her until her options are removed. Leading up to the final moment, the plot points intertwined elements of suspense and erotica causing me to feel her torment and adrenaline highs.

What I’ve come to enjoy with C.P. Mandara’s books is her ability to create such intriguing characters that test their boundaries emotionally, physically and sexually. There were times when I thought Lois was crazy but her propensity to push forward is quite entertaining. As for the male characters, the plot pivots a bit to reveal more questions about who to trust.

Smoke is full of action and intrigue and would appeal to kinksters wanting to get a proper BDSM fix. I certainly look forward to reading how it will all unfold in the next book of this series.

When Lois Reeves took the most important assignment of her life, there would only be one acceptable outcome - success no matter the consequences. Her target was the infamous and elusive sex slave trade player Alain Dumortier.

To get close enough to assassinate him, she must pose as a submissive. After a short training stint with a Master, she thought she was ready, but nothing could prepare her for what’s to come once she step foot into his world.

This was a whole new journey of self-discovery for me, and by the end of it, I suspected I'd be quite shocked at the revelations that were slowly unfolding.

Lois was one feisty heroine. I liked how she was sarcastic and outspoken with a rebel streak in her even though sometimes it got her in trouble. I also liked how she was open to explore a different side of her sexuality.

I whispered breathily, and unless I was much mistaken, I would like anything this man did to me. He made me cream my pants just looking at him.

Alain was sexy and mysterious. I liked how he had a range of personalities that suit his need. However, I felt like there’s a lot more that I needed to know about him and his background.

I liked the story overall but there were times I was confused with some scenes with what was happening. There were also questions that needed answers which I hope will be addressed in the next book.

What I liked the most about this book was the author’s signature kinkery with various creative and cringe worthy scenes which I thoroughly enjoyed. The challenges Lois had to endure were highly entertaining.

Smoke is the second book of Secret Agent BDSM series. I’m looking forward to see which direction the story will go in the next one.

When the day of the auction dawned, I woke up filled with a mixture of anxiety and excitement. I was worried that I might not attract Dumortier's attention and equally concerned that if I did, I might not be able to cope with what he would dish out. Ahh – but that’s the reason I was going in there. To save all those poor women he held from a fate worse than death. That was a lie. I was going in there for revenge

Recommended for fans of Lily White's Master series or Blaire by Anita Gray.

Smoke starts out with Lois entering the auction, hoping she catches her target's attention.

“Your instincts are very good, Thirty-Eight. Some around these parts might even say too good.”

description

“Ever heard of knife play, Thirty-Eight?”

She definitely catches his attention.

I have so many questions left after finishing this book. It's safe to say Alain Dumortier is not all he seems. I'm already at chapter 6 in the next book trying to find out more answers.

This book ends with Lois in trouble and so far it hasn't gotten better in Flames

With two knives in one hand, he drew a twin trail of devastation down my right cheek...He used the distraction to jab a needle in my left upper arm, his upper body covering what he was doing. I screamed all the louder, and as blood began dripping down my cheek, I just wished he would kill me. I already knew how talented this man was with knives. I didn't need a more intense rerun of our earlier session to remind me that I was in way over my head.

description

Coming in close, he whispered, “I don’t know another female alive that could have taken what you just did out there. If you don’t make it through today it will be a crying shame, Thirty-Eight. The last thing I want to have to do is kill you.”

Both these characters are looking crazy right now, and it seems like James may be the only sane one. I'm digging these mentally unstable/psychopathic characters.

FULL SERIES REVIEW

O...M...G…
This series had all of the dirtiest, kinkiest, and darkest BDSM scenes I have ever read in one book.
ALL. OF. THEM!

Wanna know what this series explores? Check out this list:
Spanking. - With ALL manner of whips, paddles, belts, floggers. You name it, it’s in there.
Needle/Piercing Play. - One word: Corset
Extreme Edging! My clit hurt just reading some of these scenes.
Sexual Torture.
All kinds of bondage. Ropes, Silk, Cuffs...
Knife Play.
Sounding & Catheterising.
Complete Submissive & Slavery.
Knife Play.

I could go on, but I’m pretty sure you catch ma drift, right?
Not only was it sexy and dirty as hell...the story was amazing, the characters were amazing, the world-building was amazing and it kept me obsessed all the way through 6 feckin’ books!
Which is not easy to do.

LOIS
Lois is one kick-ass assassin. I LOVE her.
She knows her mind, she knows her body, she knows her guns and she knows all kinds of martial arts, and she is not afraid to use them all.

What she didn’t know much about was the submissive/slave & BDSM lifestyle.
Her next job requires her to go undercover as a submissive slave in a very illegal and dangerous club filled with utter sick and cruel sociopathic cunts.

Five minutes with these guys as well as a pair of tweezers and a cheese grater...that’s all I’m asking!
Anyway, she needs to become a convincing sub who has at least 1 year of submissive training in order to get the highest bids in the illegal auction and then be shipped off to Carte Blanche (the slave club thingy) to find and assassinate the leader, Alain Dumortier.

So she goes to this company that specialises in training people in the BDSM lifestyle and that’s where she meets James.
Jesus-Fucking-Christ on a motorbike!

And...yup...I just jizzed in ma knickers...again.
From this point on her life got turned upside down and inside out.
It gets dark. Very fucking dark. And very fucking hot.
This woman is my hero and I wish I was her, lol!
I have never ‘met’ a more stubborn and admirable heroine. Ever.

JAMES
You know who I think of while reading about James?
David Gandy...

You’re welcome.

James is the ultimate Dom and he knows his shit.
That’s not all he is though and he’s full of surprises...that I just can not tell you about without giving too much away!

He’s very elusive and refuses to let his guard down, especially around Lois and it drives her nuts because she can read (and pummel) everyone else but this guy.
He puts her through the wringer and their relationship keeps you flicking through the pages while giving your right-hand fingers a cramp...ya ken?
One-handed reading and all that :-)
His thumbs then grazed the pad of my palms, and I felt my ovaries bleat in great eagerness to spread this man's seed. I gave them a stern talking to.

ADIE
Ooft. This is one very sick puppy.
One very sick and sexy as hell puppy.
Again I can’t go into too much detail with his story without giving stuff away but he is so intrigued by Lois and how much pain she can take...even when he brings out the knives.
His story is not what it appears to be and he’s like an onion...bear with me here, lol.
He’s like an onion in that he has so many layers and makes you fuckin’ cry in pain!
Gah! These guys!
The man was a sick, depraved, and utterly twisted sex addict. He had a tight ring of security that surrounded him at all times and rarely left the confines of his underground club – Carte Blanche. Oh, and he also happened to be a psychopath. Good combination, right? Out of all the men and women I'd been contracted to kill in the past, none had ever been so deserving of death as Dumortier.

SEX SCENES
Okay, if you’ve read any of my reviews, you know I like to pick my favourite sex scenes and post a wee excerpt.
But this series - every single book in this series - was packed FULL of the darkest, kinkiest and hottest sex!
I know it’s a lot to read but I’ve picked out two scenes that I kinda pulled a muscle reading…

Scene 1

“What do you think, Alain? Can we make her beg?” “Never had a problem making a woman beg before, and I don’t think tonight will be the exception.” Somehow, I had the awful feeling they were right. “Think she can take the two of us at once?” James asked. “Does she have a choice?” Adie raised his eyebrows. "No." James angled himself so he could slide his cock along my lips. Oh fuck. This was really happening. I let out an involuntary moan. "Okay, here's how it works, Alain. No cock goes inside my little whore until she begs for it first. Let's see how long the bitch lasts." Oh, God. Adie took James at his word, of course. With his cock pressed up tight against my entrance, he buried his fingers in my ass and pussy and began thrusting away happily. The index finger on his other hand began to torment my already over-sensitised clit. Meanwhile, James ran his cock backwards and forwards along my lips, slowly pumping himself with his hand. The slight, salty taste of his pre-cum drove me wild. “No,” I whimpered, battling against my restraints as I tried to move away from Adie’s fingers. “No, no, no.” "She gets nothing until she begs," James warned, and that was the catalyst for Adie's fingers to sink even deeper inside me. “You can’t do this,” I wailed, thrashing away crazily, almost unable to think. “Ah, but you can fuck another man while your husband is away at work? If you can do that, believe me when I say I can do this.” James’s fingers had now worked their way underneath my bra, unfastening the single clip that held it together. Then both of his hands were on my breasts, kneading and stroking my tender flesh. When he grabbed both nipples with his forefingers and thumbs, I yelped. “I’m waiting.” Rolling the little points in his fingertips, he then pinched them painfully tightly, and I arched my body upwards off the table, nearly pulling my wrists and ankles off in the process. Adie’s fingers on my clit were now working me into a frenzy I had no way of controlling, and my eyes were glazing over as I was about to fall headlong into my first orgasm. “Don’t you dare let her come.” Adie’s fingers stopped abruptly. My impending orgasm waned painfully as no further stimulus was forthcoming, and my animosity for James increased tenfold. “We’re waiting,” was all he said as he zipped up his crotch.

Scene 2
Squirming madly under the single finger inside me, unsure of whether I was feeling pleasure or pain at his touch, James slapped my backside again. It was hard enough that I stilled instantly. “Stop that. It’s only a little plug, and I’ll go slowly. If you keep thrashing around, I’ll get the crop out, and believe me when I say you won’t like that much.” I believed him. Lying as still as I could, I panted heavily as one finger became two. James didn’t play fair. He had one hand underneath me working my clit whilst this was going on, not to mention the dildo that was playing havoc with my internal organs. I curled my body up as tight as a bowstring and felt each jarring movement within me. “Shh, Lois. Stop fighting me. It’ll go easier on you if you relax.” I took him at his word, mainly because my body was tired of being held so rigidly. Once I’d gotten used to the feeling of his fingers inside me, I was surprised to find he was right. Loosening up my muscles and allowing myself to lie back down on the bench, it wasn’t long before I found myself close to orgasm again. There were delicious licks of pleasure flowing throughout my body, and the vibrations were heavenly. Just as I thought I might explode, however, something cold was pressed up against my back passage, and before I had time to tense, James pushed it quickly forward. It slid in easily enough, bar the last centimetre or so, which was splintering pain, but the pressure of James’s hand was unrelenting, and I had no option but to accept it inside me. The heavy pressure now bearing down made my ass rocket up into the air, and I yelped. “Take it out,” I whimpered. My hips bounced against the bench as if that might somehow dislodge the intruder, but it didn’t move an inch. “You’re not the one who gives the orders around these parts. Try to remember that.” He then twirled the plug around inside me, and I grimaced.

FINAL THOUGHTS on SPARKS by C.P. Mandara
Although this series was chock-a-block with intensely sexy scenes and had no shortage of tongue in cheek humour, it also got extremely dark and fucked up. Which, of course, I loved!
I actually learned a lot while reading this series! Hahaha!
Absolutely loved it and will be adding all of C.P. Mandara’s books to my TBR mountain.

Hm.

This is completely ridiculous.

Allegedly (gosh do I hate to have to write this word!) this is hardcore sadistic erotica. Welp...

I'm afraid I have bad news for the author. This is certainly neither hardcore, nor particularly sadistic. What it is, is badly informed. The vodka session alone, for instance, could have killed a normal-sized woman pretty fast. Just like that. The described whippings and spankings are a dime a dozen, and would have the average maso shrug, or laugh even. The described implements are mild. I've built percussion implements for hardcore sadists, which would do the trick, but these are different from a simple cane or tawse. The rest, supposedly dark, was pretty mild compared to what one might expect as hardcore TPE, or sex trafficking.

Duh. Nope.

Still no luck on my quest for hardcore sadistic erotica.

My mind is blown with this series. Full disclosure, I did not read the first book because I got the order mixed up. I ended up reading all the following books in a row and need to go back to the first book. This is an addictive series and I snorted it up like crack. I couldn't get enough of this ill at ease feeling generated by this book. For those who are Safe, Sane and Consensual or dipping your toes into RACK, this is not the book for you. For those who are dark, depraved kinksters wanting torture, rape and other dub-con, dive right in. I'm in the deep end with you.

Let's start with the BDSM. Is this realistic? God I hope not. Some of it is and can be done, but for the most part it is not recommended because you probably end up in the hospital or dead. Can you still enjoy this? Do you watch action flicks where people are shot, beat up, tortured and blown up? Do you believe that is real? If you said yes the action flick and answered yes to the real question, I worry about you. For those of you who enjoy being taken on a ride to the dark side, this is where it gets fun.

This world is easy to pick up even without reading the first book. We have a wetworks group who needs to take out a criminal. There is also an assassin with a grudge, Lois. The complication comes with human trafficking, specifically sex slaves and what could happen. In reality human trafficking is probably worse that what happens in this book. Since C.P. Mandara is clear this is not a contemporary romance, the blurring of lines works really well. The sadistic needles and knife play work well for those who enjoy this kind of kink. It is taken to a degree enjoyable for deviants. This includes the characters in the book.

Lois is a tough female operative with a single minded goal. She's spunky and I like her. Her switchy persona works for me. Her time trying to get into the human trafficking ring is well done because she comes across more human with her bouts of anxiety. She isn't perfect and completely cold hearted. This gives a more balance view. The sex and torture scenes are the icing on the cake as we experience it with Lois. This could make or break her. It is questionable. Her attraction to Alain is understandable, especially those of us who enjoy sadistic males. (And those who are sensation sluts.) When it comes to sensory detail, C. P. Mandara almost overloads a reader if they are not heavy into kink. Adding the 3rd person point of view takes it to that next level which I revel in. I can't decide if I want to be Lois or Alain. I do know that as soon as this book ended, I immediately wanted to dive into the next book.

This dark kink erotica is recommended to deviant readers who enjoy torture, mayhem and sadism.

* I was offered this book for by the author. No review was requested. I gave one anyway.

This ends on a doozy of a cliffhanger, but thankfully book #3 is already available!

The book isn't a stand alone read and currently there are 4 books in the series, with more to follow. If the rest of the books are as gripping and well written as this, then I will definitely be continuing with the series until the end.

Whilst I guessed one of the twists fairly early on, to be honest it didn't make any difference to my enjoyment because it just added to the suspense of waiting for Lois/Thirty Eight to discover the truth! There were also still plenty of unexpected twists and I'm now wondering about Kiel, I'm not 100% convinced . I just feel there is something more to that story than we presently know.

I seemed to get into this book more than I did Sparks , I think it's because we got to the 'Carte Blanche' part that I was itching for. In a similar fashion to the Pony Tales series, this book is more along the lines of erotica. There are a couple of occasions where Lois is abused, but we don't experience these scenes first hand so the book doesn't feel too dark.

The best thing is that whilst I can picture how the series might end, I have zero idea of where the journey in between will take us. What I do know is that it's a journey I'm 100% intent on taking.

I'm really trying to like this series, but I have some issues with it.

First and foremost Lois is driving me crazy. It's like we are supposed to believe that she's this strong woman who's an assassin and keeps her whit's about her. But it would seem that as soon as she sees a "pretty" face all reasoning is out the door and she turns into an absolute idiot. I mean, she's now claimed to have "fallen half in love" with both James and now Adie. It's ruining the books for me. I mean she's supposed to be highly trained?? It's not coming through at all.

Another issue I have is starting a book with the ending and then going back. Why? Is that supposed to draw people in? Just start off where the last book left off because there are some of us that it completely puts it off. I had a hard time getting invested in reading through all of it because I already know where it ends...and yep, the book ends at the same point the first chapter reveals it will...sigh

I'm going to read the next book in hopes that it gets better.

I'm caught in the middle in regards to this book. In one aspect, I'm frustrated because I'm just not understanding the motivation behind everything. Yet, the writing is compelling enough that I NEED to know what happens next because I want to understand.

Who is the good guy and who is the bad guy? I guess I need to keep reading to find out.

2nd book I've read in this series.
It's okay but definitely has some issues in the writing which affects the flow.
Even the so called steamy scenes are a bit off for me.

This book was so confusing and all over the place. *Aghast* I am really wondering what just happened in the first 60% of the book cuz that portion of the book wasn't needed:(

It got interesting only when Adie entered the scene and I loved him (what can I say, I have a thing for crazy psychopaths who play with blood and knives). However, Lois still somehow managed to exhibit severe idiotic vibes. I mean, I get that she's a masochist and has an extremely high pain tolerance but can she atleast give herself a chance to stay alive here?! I am seriously doubting that her brain cells retained any training her agency gave her. *stares into space with an incredulous expression*

Also, there are so many plotholes. Why wouldn't the agency give Lois proper description of the person she's supposed to kill? I got that James and Adie have a history but then, how can James not know about Adie's involvement? Somehow, the hidden parts and non-answers doesn't feel planned plot development and look like plotholes instead.

I am still invested in the story so I'll continue with the next book...especially because of that big cliffhanger. But this book left me with scattered thoughts. I hope the next one does some wonders. Fingers crossed.

Lois meets Adie

Lois is some sort of secret agent, desperate to be the one who tales down Alain Dumortier. To this end she undertakes training on how to be a good sex slave, and so she meets James. Later she meets Adie. Her adventures with both man are painful and erotic. CP Mandara creates a convincing heroine in Lois; brave, mouthy and witty. The tale ends with a massive cliffhanger, and so on to story no 3.

If you are a lover of dark romance, like me, this book is for you. I just don't think Lois knew what she was signing herself up for when she agreed to this assignment, and she definitely can't say James didn't try to warn her. C.P. Mandara does an excellent job with the darkness and suspense aspects in this book. I can't wait to see what is going to happen next in Lois's world.

The second book in the Special Agent BDSM series and what a ride this book was. From the first page to the last. I couldn’t read fast enough.

The trails that Lois goes through. Let just say that I i'll never look the same at champagne and an obstacle court again. And that ending.

I can’t wait for the next book.

I’ve really enjoyed this series so far! It’s just the right mixture of disturbing (sex trafficking), intrigue, (spies! Secrets! How will the unrequited love triangle work out?), lust, and potential romance. I just finished book 3 (Flames), and can’t wait for book 4! This is the first of Mandara’s work I’ve read, and I hope the series will continue, because I have to find out what happens.

An amazing read filled with a lot of suspense, drama, sex, and some strange games people play. Poor Lois was going through her plans to get to her victim! The man who apparently caused her lovers death. She was determined to end his life, no matter what she has to go through but what if she gets caught?
I don’t know yet until I read book 3. But so far it’s been a heck of a journey for Lois.

4.75 smoking hot holy sh#t stars! Good lord this series. LOVE the female lead. She’s like some sort of cosmic cross between Cyn (DB Reynolds Vampires in America) and Catniss Evergreen. As a matter of fact this series feels like super-hot-but-Pervy-but-super-hot adult cousin of the Hunger Games. This book was very Marathon-man-y and yet was STILL hot. I love that Lois/38/Kat kicks major arse! Loooooove it. LOVE. THIS. SERIES. articulate, right?! I mean where has this series been? it was published 3 years ago and I had to DIG to find this?!?! Maybe the titles leave a bit to be desired (seriously) and the cover art.... wuh boy the cover art.... but why are the books not more well known? Well who cares anyway because apparently there’s 4 more books for me to dive into!!!! YEAH. THANKYOU MS. MANDARA!

Hot, pantie melting

First time author for me and so good I will check out her other books. (Loved your Amazon review sample comments.) Not so dark or am I bad? After all it's fantasy and that's why I am reading them. What's going to happen between Lois, James and Alain? I love the "love triangle theme". Kept me turning pages. v

Damn, this was one hell of dark twisted ride.
Lois is finally on her assignment and nothing is as expected. This world is full of dark kinky and soulless monsters. Does she have a chance to win? Expect the worse.
We finally get to know a bit more about why she is so determined. I love how strong and tough she is.
BDSM is dub-con, dark and a bit unrealistic but so intense I was breathing through every scene.
There is a strong attraction between Alain and her, and they obviously have similar kinks. He is an extreme sadist what she equally loves and hates. But be warned, this is not a romance. There is torture, pain, sadism and no HEAat the moment.
The story is addictive and I can't wait to read more.

Diving Headfirst Into a Mindblown Situation

SPOILER ALERT!

After reading the first book I didn't know what to quite to expect. When James use to tell explain what happened at Carte Blanche I thought he was exaggerating. He certainly was not!

I have never rooted for a character to survive so bad then be filled with so much regret when she actually does. The things that Lois has endured would have broken any other character, but not her. She is a total badass and I can kind understand the relationship with Adie. The man is fifty different kinds of crazy coupled with fifty more pounds of psychotic, but then he also had that side that gets you when your defenses are down.

I'm not sure what to expect in the next book, but i am so ready!

I so enjoyed writing this beast. I wanted Alain to be exquisitely horrible, and yet nearly redeemable at the same time. The idea was for him to break Lois, but get her to bend at the same time. Poor Lois is so unbalanced at the end, I'm not sure she knows which way is up.

I can't wait to write the next instalment in this series 'Flames.' We'll see James and Dumortier go head to head in it, and probably not in the way you'd expect. All I know at this moment, is that it's going to be a very bumpy ride...

Can't wait to read Flames

I read the first book in this series as part of a bundle with other books. It was the best of the bundle so I got this book. I'm not disappointed. I cannot wait to see what happens next. Does Lois choose James or Addie? I do wonder how long he knew about her or where he got his information from. Hopefully it will be revealed in book 3. I do recommend reading book 1 before this to understand why Lois is there and her motivation and also to know who James is.

Cliffhanger. Lois has been sold and she hopes who bought her is part of the mission. She has a brute of a time . She thinks she can do her mission and get out of this . Things go bad quick. She goes though so much . This book isn't for everyone there are a lot of triggers here. I did enjoy the story and can't wait to see how the story continues.

This was a dark and wicked ride into Alain's lair - Carte Blanche. Lois seems to have no idea as to what she's let herself in for, but boy, does she find out in this book. This installment is fast-paced and full of action and heat. I am now torn between Adie and James.
Already on the first pages of the third book!

Adie seems to be able to read allies as well as James can. He’s also as attractive as James to her. What’s a girl to do when she’s being sexually tortured at the hands of such a sexy madman? And how can she get the break she needs to complete her mission when she seems to constantly tied up one way or another.

Mind blowing

Wow this series is so incredibly dark. Lois is put through so much and you think it’s going one way then BAM a twist. Diving into book 3 and I can only hope we see a kickass assassin!
