Elizabeth Andre writes lesbian romance and cozy paranormal mysteries. She is a lesbian in an interracial same-sex marriage living in the Midwest. She hopes you enjoy her stories. She certainly loves writing them.
I really wanted to like this book more because the idea was so promising. It was okay, not boring but not as exciting as it could have been. I’m still looking forward to reading the next one though.
If you like paranormal mystery thrillers this book is for you! Elizabeth Andre is one of my favourite authors for a great quick read. This is longer than most of her books which was wonderful because it gave me more of her delicious words. This tale is a delight.
It felt to me like it started a bit slowly but it did not stay that way for long. I read this riveting drama so quickly, I couldn’t wait to see what happened next. I seriously felt like a whole day had passed as I consumed this saga, there was so much happening and all of it so amazing that I was fully engulfed in it, that when I was done, I was shocked to see that only 4 hours had passed. Its one of those books that you need some time to come out of it and you wonder if something hasn’t changed in your world.
I was hoping for a romance between the leads but it never happened…well, yet anyway. The great ending leaves Ms Andre open to turn this into a series so YAY!!!!! Try it, Im sure you will love it.
Venduto come Rivals to lovers che però si risolve in 60 pagine. È abbastanza scorrevole anche se le parti della vita privata e quelle delle indagini sono totalmente sconnesse. Nel finale poi viene tutto risolto in 40 pagine.
I wanted to like this very much. There are absolutely elements I did enjoy - but overall the way it is staged was just very boring and dull. There's no other way to say it. There's a lot of "tell" not "show" that goes on, which makes it tedious and lack excitement.
The paranormal itself is treated as an everyday occurrence, which I get perhaps for these people it is - but it meant that it lacked any specialness or even spookiness that might have came about from such an intriguing plot.
There was also way too much time spent on the minutiae yet the gliding over big important proponents which really did my head in.
For instance the Ghost they were hired to find shows up and everyone is like, Ok a ghost -neutral face- but then they start getting readings and talking about something keeping her ghost here and THAT discussion takes precedence over the actual ghost and woman who hired them communicating with her sisters ghost and any emotion from that experience.
It felt like I was in bizarro world. Also the conversation was often stunted and unnatural, which didn't help. I would have excused any of these things for the sake of a good story but altogether this made for a frustrating read I couldn't continue with. Which is disappointed because I purchased all 3 in the series expecting good things. Maybe I'll try again another month!
I enjoyed reading this paranormal, adventure story. It’s lot of spooky fun when Maya and Julie, opposing Paranormal investigators are forced into teaming up to solve a disappearance and there are some surprising results along the way. I look forward to reading more of Maya and Julie’s investigations.
I read this a couple days ago and fair warning, I'm posting this after completing the 2nd book. I won't try to let that influence anything.
Overall, I did enjoy this one. The story was interesting and the main characters were likable. I thought the story started off kind of slow. and initially I wasn't overly fond of the writing style. Again, the book was pretty slow. It didn't really pick up until after the half way mark. While it was on the slower side, it was still interesting enough to keep me engaged.
Once the story picked up I was really into it. I wanted to know what was happening in the woods and I could not put the book down until everything was sorted.
From what I can tell, there are currently 3 books in the series. I've read the first two and I'm not sure if there are plans for more. The mystery was completely wrapped up, but there is a lot of room for the main characters' stories to continue.
If I had to rate it, I'd probably give it around 3.25 starts.
Not going to rate it because I’ve largely decided to stop giving ratings below three stars, especially on self-pubbed work.
But I’d be remiss, I think, to not comment on what an absolute slog of a novel this was.
I don’t know if it was just that the author’s style really didn’t appeal to me, or if the plot dragged as much as I felt it did (I suspect some combination of the two).
It truly felt like nothing happened in this book until the last few chapters or so. Add that to lengthy exposition (why show when you can just tell, I guess) and just… the dullest characters I’ve ever read and this was such a let down.
Ghost hunting lesbians solve the mystery of what happened to a dying woman’s long-lost sister? The premise is so solid, the execution less so.
LOVED this book! This was the first book by this author that I have read and I will be reading more! She has just recruited a new fan! This book is very gripping, and I had trouble putting down to go to sleep. Each character is developed well and pull you easily into their lives. Must read!!
This couldve been so much more. I ended up skim reading in alot of parts because the paragraphs kept repeating what was just said a sentence before and i just wanted to get to the end. As much as i want the main charaters to get together im not going to read the rest of the series. It may be a slow burn but i didnt enjoy this enough to want to read more.
I DNF at 8%. The beginning was like every paranormal mystery book I’ve read since the 1990s to a T. I also had problems with a chronology of Vikings being older than “Indians” (and this terminology shouldn’t be used - should be Indigenous) as the types of women who disappear in the spooky woods. At this point I returned the book and moved on.
Maya is a paranormal investigator we wants to be able to work full time in the job. When Evie Fourtier hires her to find her sister, Katie, who disappeared as a teenager in the forest near the town. However, Evie had also hired Julie and now she pair had to work together to solve the case. An intriguing mystery.
Enlightened tale of strangers pulling together to another person.
A story with a lot of speculating about whether ghosts are real or not. Two ladies are asked by a cancer riddled woman who wants closure from her long gone sister.Enjoy!
I thought this bo0ok was wonderful. I got so immersed in the story I had a very hard time putting it down to go to bed or work. Loved it. Just bought the other 3 in the series.
Paranormal is not my favorite trope all the time, but this story was awesome. The adventures of Maya and Julie were fun and scary at the same time. I am going to look for the other books.
I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started reading this. I knew I it was a paranormal novel, of course, but it starts out slow and gentle, introducing the characters. Then the tension ratchets slowly and surely until I was on edge, needing to read and find out how this would conclude.
I liked the characters. The cast is an interesting group of women and men with differing skills, abilities, and personalities. Some of their skills were only hinted at until much later in the book. There is a bit of attraction between Julie and Maya from the beginning of their first meeting but it’s tinged with professional territoriality. That made the novel all the more fun. The woods are definitely atmospheric and spooky.
This novel was very entertaining. I want to read more about this team and their adventures.
