Resurgence is hiding a secret. It’s taken Alex months to find it…but find it he has! There is only one problem: it might just be an unbeatable force that he can’t defeat on his own. Luckily, Alex has never been without his group of friends, ready to join him for any challenge.
Fighting through a quest that shouldn’t exist – and acquiring items that no one else has access to – Alex thinks there may be hope. However, it will take more than a few pieces of unique gear to conquer the lands of Resurgence.
Say what you will about Alex – his teammates certainly do – but Chance is usually on his side, even when he doesn’t know it. While Alex pushes the boundaries inside of Resurgence, a cadre of special agents works on the outside to uncover any advantage to use against AltCon, the company behind the game.
Alex will face new foes, use his unique abilities in ways he never imagined, and maybe – just maybe – find a way to win!
I thought this was the final book. But there's one more. I have mixed feelings about that. I really enjoy the story but I almost feel like it could have ended by now. On the other hand I hate a rushed ending. Like I said, I really enjoy this story and this book doesn't disappoint. The characters are still great and you can feel like you can relate to them. I look forward to finishing the next book.
I'll start with what I didn't like... Spelling errors! Why do so many of the these Kindle books have them? Also, and it's not as bad as the first book, but the explaining of everything again. I don't think many people start reading at book three where everything in the past has to be explained in every book. Ok now what I like... The characters are wonderfully written and each have their own personalities and the writer engages them all into the story so well. I have no problems remember who is who wether it's their in game name or real name. The story flows at a good place and Dan's humor is always welcomed. I look forward to the next book!
First things first - I read this book expecting it to conclude the story and was pleasantly surprised at the end of the book when I found out that there is to be one more. Hopefully we don’t have to wait quite so long for the next one! For those wondering when Alex and/or Dan are going to let the others know about the big picture of what is going on, there just may be an answer during this book. The over-arching quests (both the general one against the children of loust and the special one Alex initiated) are progressed with a fair amount of synergy between them. If you liked the previous books, this one does not disappoint!
This series is a bit different than many other LitRPG books I've read in that there's an emphasis on class interdependence, much like EverQuest. Although it's definitely not my favorite game design mechanic, it is very familiar to people like me who have spent years delving deep into the worlds of various MMOs. I enjoy the secret side quests that Alex has been using to gain his unique skills, and look forward to seeing what role they play in the final confrontation to come.
This series has went from strength to strength and has turned into a page Turner. The MC is showing great promise with his character development ,and of course the banter the team show. The outside characters from other teams in the game and in real life have given fresh promise to this too as personalities and quirks shine. Now on tender hooks for the next book.
This story of a great game of looting and leveling is tempered with the Company trying to mind condition the players into buying stocks and products they don't want. Great story Please start the next book with a recap and the main character. The beginning of this book was terribly hard for me to reconnect into this story I almost quit.
Granted, the time between novels means that some of the mechanics of the story have now been done, when in the original they were something new, the story is really polished and enjoyable.
And it felt like a fairly large book as well, so that was a bonus.
Hoping the author doesn't take as long between this and the next.
I absolutely love this series. This is a fun and engaging book that left in enough game details to be smooth and in-depth but not crazy with lots of stat blocks and items. The out of game parts really improved in this book. My only issue is that book 4 is not out yet! (Its also nice to have a book dedicated to me, yes I'm that Jack)
Following the development of the players in game is a joy in its own. The expansion of the "real world" strife has added an element to this series that I wasn't sure I would enjoy... But am glad I was mistaken. I would rate this as a must read for any who love a good fantasy and espionage who done its!
Third story carries the story along revealing more of the secrets along with great action. I enjoy the characters and the exciting plotline. Can't wait for book 4.
I find myself reading this book all the time, even when I should be sleeping. Today i read it while mopping. I can't get enough of the story and the game
