The main characters in The Pumpkin Patch are Ruthie and Seth. They become attracted to one another and start spending time together. Seth decides to ask Ruthie to go on a open buggy ride with him. To the Amish people if a man asks a young woman to ride with him in his open buggy it means that he wants to court her with the intention of marriage. The date is set but before they get to go on the buggy ride Ruthie's father and Seth's Mother announce they are to be married. This puts a damper on the young couple getting to date since they would become step brother and step sister. Both Seth and Ruthie are heart broken.
Impulsively Ruthie leaves home without speaking to her Father or Seth's Mother. Seth takes off in his horse and buggy at full speed after telling Ruthie he can't ride with her in his open buggy. Life goes on but they both are devastated and beside themselves. Ruth's enters her show pumpkin in a harvest fair competition and enters her spiced pumpkin whoopy pies in the bake off competition. She hopes to win enough money to move to Ohio. A friend talks Ruthie into sharing her secret recipe for pumpkin bread with him so he can give it to his mother. Instead he sells it to the owner of The Bakers Dozen bake shop for a thousand dollars. The bake shop then enters her special pumpkin bread recipe in the bake off hoping to win a blue ribbon to hang in her shop.
I loved the attractive book cover of a field of pumpkins with a red barn in the distance. I love anything fall and that includes pumpkins. The main point in the story comes when Ruthie forgives Chad for selling the bake shop her recipe. Also not to act out impulsively when something upsetting happens because there's always an answer to any challenge.
I thought things moved a little fast in Ruth's and Seth's romance. They hadn't even gone on their first date when they learned their parents were getting married. They were still in the stages of getting to know each other and still were basically friends. Why all the heart break and tears so early on in the relationship. One could see it if they'd been dating a year and found out their parents were getting married.
The other thing I didn't like was that Ruthie decided to leave home without seeing the older couple. She quickly packs and makes her exit through the front door in order to avoid seeing them. Yet apparently she makes a stop to the kitchen and gathers together all the dry ingredients for her Woopy Pie recipe then gets a wagon and goes out to her pumpkin field and picks her pumpkins putting them in the wagon and with her suitcase walks down the driveway all while crying . This was all done from the front door exit without no one noticing her? Not too realistic. That's why the three stars. Other than that I thought the story was pretty good.
I downloaded a ebook copy from the Amazon Kindle Lending Library.

The Pumpkin Patch is the third amazing book written by Samantha Bayarr in her Amish Acres series. This book tells the story of Ruthie and Seth. The road to romance is anything but straight and simple. The story moves along at a great pace definitely keeping the readers interest. After all of Ruthie's hard workvto grow a prize winning pumpkin and create an awesome recipe for pumpkin bread and whoopie pies will someone else win by stealing her recipe.

Ruthie is a very strongwilled young Amish woman and has her trust and faith in God. Seth is amazed at his sudden interest in Ruthie because all he use to see was Naomi's little sister. Will this sudden attraction develope into the real thing? With things in an upheavel because of another wedding annoucement how will Seth deal with it?

I was not given a complimentary copy of this book to read and review. I was not approached by anyone to post a favorable review. I have rated this book with five stars for meeting my expectations of a wonderful story that I can highly recommend to others. I am anticipating the next book to see what happens next with all these amaxing characters.

Congratulations to Samantha Bayarr for releasing this fantastic story for the enjoyment of her readers.

Needed better editing

The story was good but the editing wasn’t. In several places the same sentence was repeated in the next paragraph. In one place it said Ruthie didn’t sleep all night before the day of the fair and the next paragraph read nearly the same but said she slept well all that night!

Great series............

I have read the first stories in this series of the Amish Acres reset of stories. The author has done a superb job of telling her tales of trials and romance. As a bonus, most of the time there is a happy ending!

These were excellent books

These books were like a breathe of air. It showed people with everyday problems could work thru the worse and come out on top. By listening to others and praying thru things instead of alwAys calling it quits.

Good read

I liked the story, but all the books in this series are very similar. A surprise twist would be exciting. I am waiting for book 4.

Fun

Another fun romance (with bakery issues thrown in for good measure) in the Amish community. Also has a character you'll 'love to hate'.
