Quarterback Aiden Patrickson has a goal to win even though he plays for the worst team in pro football.

When management pulls a stunt to put his team in a good light they go too far. No women in the locker room is Aiden’s motto. Raised by a strong mother and two demanding sisters, the NO WOMEN zone is his sanctuary.

Jordan Givens has a goal too and she’ll do just about anything to achieve it.

She has no problem breaking the NO WOMEN ALLOWED taboo of pro football or dealing with the bullheaded men who stand in her way.

Everything goes as planned until they meet. Now all bets are off and there might be more going on in the locker room than sweaty musclebound men and muddy cleats.

I was gifted a copy for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a different take on the sport romances - both the h and H were football players. I liked that there was no unnecessary angst, no lying just people getting on with it.

Jordan's attitude was brilliant - she said what she thought and got on with it - not bowing down when the team didn't initially accept her. Her friendship with Lane had its funny moments and came across well like sibling love. Aiden's family were great characters - I don't think I disliked any of the characters in this book (apart from a reporter and as a reader we are supposed to dislike him!)

The ending was bit rushed and I would have liked more of an epilogue but the author does mention that there may be another book about Lane and we would see Aiden and Jordan again - I would be up for reading that!

Copy provided by author in exchange for an honest review

I'm not a football fan but omg this was incredible. I loved the heroine (Jordan), her empowerment, her ability to face everything and prove the world her talent, her answers to that crappy journalist, her relationship with Aiden and the way she didn't make it too complicated. She was so easy to like, and he was too. Aiden, our hero, team captain and quarterback, appears to be a douchebag but he turns into this protective, supportive, loyal man that it's impossible not to like him. Also, I loved the way he is with his family, surrounded by strong women. They are really good characters too.
Oh and I really liked Lane!! I hope he gets his own book.

This book was very refreshing and easy to read. There was the correct amount of drama and hot scenes, amazing chemistry between H/h, enjoyable secondary characters and a good ending (although I thought was a bit rushed).

Exciting, New Adult sports romance with an NFL-kicker heroine

At 26 years old, Aiden Patrickson has been a starting quarterback in the NFL for three years with the New Mexico Proghorns. He is doing great for his age, but unfortunately, the Proghorns have the lousiest record in the pro league. He is determined to do everything in his power to improve their win/loss ratio, both for its own sake, and because it will greatly escalate his chances to eventually get picked up by a much better team. In service of that goal, he is strongly hoping that the new kicker the owners have just acquired will be a major boost to the team’s scoring.

Jordan Givens is a recent college graduate and, at just-turned 21, she has achieved a major accomplishment beyond any woman in history. She has been accepted as a kicker on an NFL team! Jordan started out in sports in her childhood as a soccer player. But she landed on the road to her true dream of playing football when, as a sophomore in high school, the varsity football coach caught her kicking a football through the JV field goalposts from 55 yards, put her on the football team, and the rest is history.

Aiden is shocked when he discovers that his team has been saddled with a woman kicker! He is convinced this is some kind of crazy publicity stunt from management to increase attendance at their home games. Aiden doesn’t care how good this woman might be, the NFL has no room for females, and he’s convinced the team will resent her so much, it will destroy morale. Then he meets the woman, and the situation gets massively worse. Aiden experiences an explosive attraction to the beautiful pro athlete. But no matter how much he wants to get up close and personal with Jordan, a sexual relationship with her would be the worst idea on record.

Jordan is overwhelmed on finding herself face to face with Aiden Freaking Patrickson! She has crushed on him for years. He played for a California state team in college, and she first discovered him his senior year before he was drafted to the pros in the first round. He is not only a brilliant athlete, but one of the most gorgeous, ripped men she’s ever met—and being surrounded by athletes most of her life, she’s seen quite a few prime specimens. She is intensely aware that she absolutely must not allow Aiden to see how attracted she is to him. Nothing could be more unprofessional than fawning over the QB. It would be disastrous to any hope of being taken seriously by the team.

I am a huge fan of romance novels featuring a female lead who is an elite athlete. I have seen plenty of gifted female athletes in young adult (YA) novels, including a few with female quarterbacks and kickers. But this is the first I’ve seen an elite female athlete in an NA romance novel, especially a football kicker in the NFL. And I’ve never personally read an adult romance novel with an elite female athlete. I’m sure there must be more NA romance novels with elite female athletes, and maybe even some adult romance novels. Unfortunately, I haven’t found them yet. Which means this book was a delightful discovery for me.

It is obvious that the author did extensive research on football while writing this book. The locker-room, training-field, and game scenes all feel quite authentic. In addition, there are just enough game scenes to be interesting, but not enough to become overwhelming to non-football fans.

Jordan is a wonderful heroine, forceful, determined, and honorable, and she has a very close, loving relationship with her widowed father.

Aiden is a terrific guy as well. He is as sexy and alpha as any romance fan could want. Yet it is believable that he does not feel his masculinity is threatened by a very strong woman like Jordan, due to having caring, respectful and affectionate relationships with his mother, older sister and baby sister. I especially enjoyed little sister, Candice, by the way. She is a softball prodigy at age 16 and what my father would have called a “real pistol.” The fact that she is an extreme extrovert with no verbal filter creates many humorous moments in the book. Her father, Aiden’s stepfather, is also a wonderful man. He is a former college baseball star who has gone out of his way to give his daughter Candice the support she needs, acting as her coach and personal trainer.

The sex is very hot in this book, and it is instigated by Jordon as much or more than Aiden. She knows what she wants, and Aiden is more than happy to oblige her. It is quite impressive that he never feels threatened by her either professionally or in the bedroom.

This is a classic romance novel, meaning there is no cheating, no romantic triangle with another woman (OW) or another man (OM), and a guaranteed HEA. This book is also told in the ideal format for a romance novel, in the dual point of view (POV) of both the heroine and hero. This approach permits the reader to intimately experience both sides of the romance, including the goals and motivation, and the internal and external barriers to accomplishing their hearts’ desires for both Jordan and Aiden.

All in all, this book has a unique take on the sports romance, and it is a pleasure to read.

I rank this book as follows:

Heroine: 5 stars
Hero: 5 stars
Subcharacters: 5 stars
Romance Plot: 5 stars
Sports Plot: 5 stars
Writing: 5 stars
Overall: 5 stars

I enjoyed this story, the plot was unique and the characters were very appealing. Here are a few things I liked, and what didn't quite work -

Pros
1 - Heroine (Jordan) - Endearing character, tough without being bitchy. She had sweet moments.
2 - Hero (Aiden) - Sexy, protective guy who's wild about the h.
3 - No cheating or OW/OM drama. The workplace romance was the main issue and it was handled well.
4 - Good chemistry and banter. Hot sex scenes, pretty spicy.

Cons -
1 - Cover - I would have never picked this up if I wasn't familiar with the author. It looks like a YA high school heroine, needs a update.
2 - Conclusion - I thought the end was completely unrealistic. It has a I was disappointed because up until the end it was pretty believable.

Overall I liked it and would recommend for sports romance fans. I'm looking forward to reading more in the series.

This book makes me wish there were six star takings. It is wonderfully superb on so many levels. I purchased it because I really love sports romance stories and found Holly S. Roberts' "Play" (Rebecca and Killian's story) to be wonderful - and to leave me aching for another similar one. Well, this one isn't similar, it's far better. That's actually pretty astounding considering that Play has already made it onto my personal sports romance faves list.

Jordan and Aiden's story is a wonderful romance which, like the one in Play, is an adult romance with two grown ups who are emotionally mature and honest with each other. There's no artificial silliness (cheating, real or wrongly assumed, silly subplots to add suspense, tension, etc.). Beyond that we have Aiden's slow conversion from being against women in the NFL to accepting of it. Beyond that we have what's frankly a great sports story about the first female in the NFL (and the author clearly did a lot of research to make it be believable). Add in a superb, and wonderfully rich and layered cast in the leads' families (all of them, though Aiden's baby sister Candice deserves special curls), their teammates (the punter Lane deserves and had better get his own book) and friends (OMG is Jordan's bestie Laura a hoot), and a large number of other extremely well done and "real" secondary and supporting characters (Larry the agent, Bobby the equipment manager and so many others). The end result? Beyond superb - and beyond a mere highly recommended.

I loved this story!!!! It was phenomenal!!! Jordan was an awesome character! I loved her attitude. She gave as good as she got to those men and I loved her attitude in dealing with all of it. Jordan has wanted to play football for as long as she can remember. She has to had to fight for the right to do so, even with all of her talent. Her talent and the fact that she can persevere is what has convinced the key players that have helped her along her journey. She gets her chance and is signed on to a pro-football team and she has her work cut out for her convincing them that she belongs. I loved Aiden. He comes from a family of independent, women can do anything household but he still struggles with Jordan playing in football. He is majorly attracted to her and her to him but they are now teammates and have to figure that part out first. I love their interactions with each other and Aiden's younger sister. She's one of my favorite characters. There is plenty going on in this story to grab and keep your attention. I was engaged from beginning to end. I was not ready to leave the characters I wanted more. The sex is explicit and blended into the story very well. This story flows really well and I love that we get to see how Jordan gives the team a wake up call. I really hope that we get to see them again and get to see the other characters have their own stories. I'm definitely not ready to leave them behind.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

I received a advance review copy of Like a girl for my honest review.
I really liked the idea of the book, the girl, the underdog in a sport that is ruled by men, run by men, played by men and this girl tries to change it all, for herself, other girls, young girl's future.
I love that and I hope there will be either a women's football league or girls can somehow become part of the NRL.

I didn't know much about football before this book but it was very informative, very detailed and I quite enjoyed the sport facts and insight into their daily training regime as well as game day.
Jordan is a very genuine, lovable heroine that tries hard to succeed in her goals but I think she should have tried harder to not become what everyone thinks and expects of her, a woman fangirling for the quarterback and I think that disappointed me a bit. Mainly how fast she gave up the fight, the urge to be with him and same for Aiden. He seems like a great guy but this all came with no fight, no lead to it, straight into steamy sex (which I didn't mind and those scenes were very well written) but both had their careeers in the back of their mind and maybe should have thought of the league, other people's feelings and their own a bit more beforehand.

Anyways, can't change feelings, so apart from that, the book was well written, too short for my taste and the characters lacked a bit more detail, Holly could have added 200 more pages, make the lead up to them being together a bit more exciting, make their characters stronger and chose a better cover and I would have given it 5 stars.

But all in all I didn't mind it for what it was, a quick chick lit read and quite enjoyable at that.

Holly S. Roberts did it again, I'm not a football fan but will be now. Ms. Roberts told a story of dreams and love. Don't let the name fool you "Like a Girl" is all girls dreams.

Jordan is determined to be a football player but there's one problem she's not a he. Jordan doesn't let that stop her. She has a wake-up call at the age eleven that girls and boys aren't the same. Heartbroken she starts playing soccer then in college she got to play football as a kicker. Then her dreams do come true.

Aideen is the team captain and the QB of the team that Jordan is drafted into. They have a love, hate relationship in the beginning. But, sparks fly and they have to keep what they feel very quiet.

Ms. Roberts give you a good idea if the ins and out of pro football. The research into this book is fantastic. If you want to laugh and cry all at the same time read this book you won't regret it.

I really enjoyed this story! Fell in love with Jordan right from the beginning. She is a strong independent woman who takes no shit from anyone as she tries to prove herself in a man's sport and starts a relationship with the star QB Aiden on her team. Loved the storyline. I thought the story flowed beautifully between both POV. An easy and fast read. Hard to out down once I started reading. Loved how protective Alpha male Aiden is. Enjoyed the banter and the chemistry and hot sex. This is the first book I read from this author and can't wait to read more.
I received an ARC and volunteered to leave a review.

Loved every word

I don’t ever post reviews of the books I read, but I felt it necessary to post one for this book. I loved every word. I felt the pain, the excitement the victory with every chapter. As a girl growing up I played mostly “guy” sports until I reached college. I loved how a girl could break through those barriers and kick ass and take names. This is one book I will be showing my girls. Proving that no matter what gender you are, if you set your mind to it you can achieve it. Regardless of what others may think. Thank you Holly for this book. Honestly my favorite of the entire series.

I received a advance review copy of Like a girl for my honest review.
I absoulouty loved Like a girl!!! it makes you root for the underdog and in this case it is Jordan. She makes every woman and girl out there want to become anything that they want to be.
Holly Roberts made it possible to capture your attention from the very beginning of Like a girl!!! Jordan being the very first female ever to succeed in a male dominate sport has to jump over many hurdles, from her team mates, to the press, and fans. she makes it very hard for her team to hold a gruge aginste her for being female.
I'm going to leave it there and hope every single one of you that read Like a girl will love it!

Cute story. Easy read. Liked both Aiden and Jordan well enough.
Didn't like how Jordan says she and her best friend Reg were friends with benefits and they now think of each other as siblings. Ew. Also complicated. But this isn't focused on at all except to bring in Laura and why Jordan can't talk to Reg as much, so thus complicated. But the two friends aren't really a big part of the story.
Didn't care for this one as much as the football story of Killian and Rebecca, who make a small appearance in this one too.

While I think the ending was a bit unrealistic, I truly loved the story. Maybe the whole book was unrealistic, but I would like to think that it could be possible some day. I was impressed with the female power in this book, and I think it shows what girls are made of. I also loved another inclusion of a character with special needs in this book, just like the previous in the series. I hope this is something the author continues, as individuals with special needs are near and dear to my heart. Definitely looking forward to continuing this series!

Good book, wish it were reality...

Great sports romance. 5 stars...... but......
Maybe it’s the cynic in me, but while I loved the idea of this story, I hate that we live in a society where I don’t believe the football world, including fan base, would be as accepting as this book made it out to be. Some day!!! Play like a girl! Bring on more women in sports (and sports romances)!

Score!!

Holly Roberts has scored a “Goal” with this book. From an avid football fan who never wanted to play football and who would now love to be on the field, thank you. For a new perspective and insight into a game I have always loved. The characters of this book are so real and believable I started to look for them in the games being played this season. Great read!

This made me remember why I fell in love with this series! It also was a complete circle, as we end off the series with a glimpse back on how we started. Jordan and Aiden were magic together, from the first moment we met them, until they made me cry when their story ended. In-between that time, some highs and lows, some doldrums and excitement, and lots and lots of heat <3
