What would you do for the one you love?
Me?
I traded my freedom for hers.
But then she betrayed me and left me to rot without so much as a goodbye.
You know how they say you need to forgive and forget?
Well, I can't.
I won't.
In fact, I'm good with never laying eyes on Kenzie Michaels again.
Unfortunately for me, life has other plans.
So when the woman who ripped my heart out of my chest - and stomped on it for good measure - shows up in my town, I'm left dealing with feelings both old and new.
And a single question that rules my every thought: Do I give in and fight for the future we were supposed to have?

Talk about an emotional ride! Wrecked had me biting my nails, yelling, crying, and completely swooning constantly and I loved every second of it. A.K. MacBride has outdone herself with Brett and Kenzie’s story making me fall even more in love with everyone in Willow Creek.
With a journey that began years ago these two have quite an uphill battle to finally reach their HEA. Weaving the past and present together to create the full picture of all they have gone through and just how powerful the love between them really is their story is one that completely takes over once you pick it up. As Brett and Kenzie both battle their way through the emotions of the past and secrets unfold you’re kept on the edge of your seat waiting to see what will come for these two.

When her car breaks down in Willow Creek, Kenzie has no choice but to stay there for as long as it takes to get her car fixed. Now, if she can just avoid the boy who broke her heart after sacrificing himself for her all those years ago. Seriously, dear reader friend, is there anything better than a second chance romance? Don’t we all have that one past relationship that our heart returns to on occasion, making us wonder “what if" or think “it might have been?” Well buckle up, because Kenzie and Brett get the chance to turn their “might have been” into a future full of brand new possibilities, and it is a delicious, evocative journey you won’t want to miss!

McBride is a new author for me, and taking a chance on her work paid off in a big way. This has to be the slowest burning but most electrifying romance ever to hit the pages of romance, and this yummy, emotional, heartfelt and humorous read hooked me in from the very first page. With a quaint small-town setting, a phenomenal cast of colorful secondary characters and delightful tension between our hero and heroine, I was sucked into this phenomenal book world and eagerly devoured the pages to find out what happens next. I fell nose over toes for Kenzie and Brett and loved every second of their anger, resentment, not-so-subtle smoldering glances, and sparks flying everywhere as they worked their way through the wreckage of their past. They owned my heart as they healed their own and found their way to forever. This is such a satisfying, heart-swooning read that it goes on my “read again" list, so you’ll definite want to add it to your TBR. Then start reading and hold on tight, because you’ll definitely fall hard for this fantastic couple!

Okay, so I knew this was a stand-alone, but I wanted to read the first book first and I did. I’m glad I did actually, because it gave me a little of the history of the characters.

Wrecked is the perfect title because it tells the story of how Brett and Kenzie’s lives are wrecked from one action/situation that happened in their past.

I enjoyed Wrecked as a second chance romance. The story flowed well and is a good read.

Wrecked is the second book in the Willow Creek series, but can be read as a standalone. Wrecked begins with small-town sweethearts Kenzie and Brett caught in a moment that will change their lives forever. We catch up with them 12 years later, as Kenzie is running from her present and runs smack dab into her past! A broken down vehicle lands her right back into Willow Creek, and face to face with Brett Carter.

I’m a sucker for charming small towns and an even bigger sucker for poignant second chance romances, and if that romance is a slow-burn, turn on the coffee because we are going to be here awhile! This page-turning romance is perfect to curl up with on a dreary, rainy day as the author meticulously weaves modern day with the wreckage of Kenzie and Brett’s past. There’s so much anger, sadness, and vulnerability between these two, but underneath all that, a tiny ember that is just waiting to catch fire again.

When Kenzie finds herself in a small town when her car breaks down she never thinks she would see the boy that broke her heart Brett in that same town! Is it fate? Or trouble! Will he put 12 years of heart behind!

This is the second book in this series, and can be read as a standalone. Brett and Kenzie’s story is an emotional roller coaster journey from beginning to end. This is a beautifully written flawless story, which has twist, heartbreak, and love, which all had me totally intrigued and hooked throughout, and I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I recommend for all.

Second chance romances always hit me right in the gut!! This story was no different, and I really felt the angst yet exploding chemistry Kenzie and Brett had. Their lives together are given another chance when Kenzie is stuck while passing through, and their deep rooted romance surfaces again.
This is a new author to me, and I’m really impressed with this book. I had no idea there was a first-and I never felt confused or that i needed to read book one in order to understand backstories. I’m definitely going to go ahead and read book 1, as I did enjoy this authors writing.

This was a very nicely done second chance romance. Brett Carter and Kenzie Michaels had planned forever, until getting stopped by the police one night tore them apart. Brett took the fall for Kenzie, and his life was never the same.

Kenzie has moved on. She works for her parents, has a boyfriend they approve of, and thinks she has a great life... until her car breaks down on the way to visit a client and the nearest town is the one avoided for the last twelve years. She's stuck in Willow Creek, and it doesn't take long before she runs into the one man she knew she wouldn't be able to avoid.

There's a lot of hurt on both sides, due to miscommunication and interference. When they finally sat down and really talk, they realise not all was as it seemed.

This is a slow burn romance, so the impatient part of me wanted them to just kiss, but the author does a nice job of building up the tension. When they finally realise the love they had never truly went away, they know nothing will keep them apart this time. I adored Brett; he was a wonderful man who was heartbroken for a long time. He's also a glassblower and makes butterflies, and it seemed like such a beautiful craft that suited him. I adored this book and was cheering Brett and Kenzie on to have their happy ending.

First, I want to thank A.K. MacBride for providing me with this book so I may bring you this review.

Wrecked (Willow Creek 2) by A.K. MacBride one of those second chance at love books that put a smile on your face. However, there are many twists and heartache along the way. Even though this is the second book in the series this can be read as a standalone. I didn’t read the first one and I was able to follow along with the storyline and the characters.

I absolutely loved the characters names A.K. picked out in this book! Kenzie, Lola, and Zoe are so unique and creative. I have never seen them used in any of the books I have read. Kudos to you A.K. for being so original.

The story went from modern day to flashbacks to when Kenzie and Brett were actually a couple. It was beneficial to the story so you got an idea how they got to the point they were at now. Plus, why their relationship was so strained.

A.K is a great storyteller and I believe that Wrecked has a lot of qualities that Hallmark Channel. I highly suggest that she submits her manuscript to them. Cross your fingers and toes and pray they pick you for their next movie. I think it would be a hit.

This is book two of the Willow Creek series. This is the story of two soulmates, Kensie and Brett, who are separated by their own stubborness, family interference and deception by Kensie's dreadful parents, and time. We are reintroduced to characters from the first Willow Creek novel, Shattered, particularly Logan and Harper. Willow Creek is a wonderful setting with people you will love. Brett and Logan met in prison and having no family Brett settled in Logan's home town of Willow Creek. Kensie is a rich spoiled self absorbed young woman who is going through the motions. Both Brett and Kensie were unable to truly love anyone else and meet again when Kensie's car breaks down in Willow Creek. I adore this author. Her characters pop out of the page with emotion and reality. The love story is amazing and the reunion sizzles. If you love wonderful romance stories with an HEA, you will toroughly enjoy this. No spoiler alerts from me, just read!

Another beautiful story!!

Having read Shattered, the first book in the series, I couldn't wait to read Brett's story. I wasn't disappointed! Another heartwarming beautiful story. A.K. knows her readers so well, giving us a bonus chapter, just as the tears are flowing thinking the book has finished. Looking forward to book 3!

From completely opposite worlds, yet madly in love, Brett makes a decision to trade his freedom for Kenzie’s without realizing it would be the act that would pull them apart for twelve years.

Feeling completely betrayed, Brett moves to Willow Creek to start a new life and to try and forget Kenzie forever . . . unfortunately he’s never truly been able to move on to another successful relationship.

Kenzie hasn’t been able to truly move on either. After Brett broke her heart twelve years ago, she’s lacked the closure she’s always needed and simply done what was expected of her by her overbearing parents . . .including working at a job she doesn’t love and dating someone of their choosing.

When fate brings Brett and Kenzie face to face unexpectedly, they’ll finally have their second chance at a happy ever after if they can both get past their feelings of betrayal and discover what really happened all of those years ago.

Both Brett and Kenzie have been stuck on each other for years, and now that they have a second chance, they’ll need to fight their own baggage to give themselves their happy ever after. But it’s clear from the start, their love still simmers, even if it’s buried deep.

I loved heading back to the small town of Willow Creek! Brett and Kenzie’s story is both heartbreaking in how they have been kept apart yet inspirational that they finally have their second chance at happiness after all of these years.

Brett is such a contradiction . . . he seems like such a tough guy, yet has a very vulnerable side that he tries to keep hidden, but it’s there. He’s a loyal and true friend and would do anything for those he cares about. And, Kenzie is just going along with the motions not really living her life either. She’s a people please and works at making her parents happy rather than herself. Yet together, they are magic and give each other every reason to enjoy all that life and love has to offer.

Wrecked was a great read with a truly spectacular ending. 4 stars.

A second chance over a car repair

Wrecked is the second book in the Willow Creek series and the first book I have read by A.L. MacBride. I was not sure what to expect when I picked up this "new to me" author but the book description looked more than interesting so I decided to give it a try. Well all I can say is that this is a story that started strong, ended strong and stayed strong throughout. I was impressed with this well written and engaging story-line and characters that were nicely developed and had depth and background. This is a second chance story with "the one" that should have been.

I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to other readers who may not have tried this author before but are open to adding a new author to their list.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.

I really was conflicted on how to feel about Wrecked at times I liked the characters and at other times I really didn't know what to feel with how they treated one another . This would be the first book that I've read by the author and I'll be coming back to check Wrecked out in the future . Don't want to give to much away because I haven't read book one in the Willow Creek series it's not needed but from what I've read you might understand the characters more . I will be coming back to read this I might have a different thought process .

Brett & Kenzie thought they would be together forever until a moment in time ripped them apart. Many years later, neither has been able to move on, but fate steps in when Kenzie's car brakes down outside the little town where Brett lives, and she's stuck there for a few days. She's hoping that she won't lay eyes on him, but as her bestie points out, it's time to get the closure she needs. Brett will never forgive Kenzie for doing him like she did, so he has no desire to ever lay eyes on her again, however, he's never moved on completely either. So when he sees her in town, his whole world is thrown into chaos, and he doesn't know how to handle all the emotions. Wrecked is a story heavy on the feels for real. Brett & Kenzie have a big past, with a lot of hurt, and definitely a ton of miscommunication which neither are trying to rectify quickly, so I was very frustrated with the push & pull. And even when they did finally talk, Brett kind of came off very immature in my eyes, so yeah, I wanted to actually hurt him. Thankfully, he has a lot of friends who aren't afraid to call him on his crap, so the cast of secondaries are truly a gift in his life, and they added a ton of depth to this story. And frankly, I hope that all of them are getting their own stories now that I've discovered Willow Creek! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

When Kenzies car breaks down in Willow Creek, she knows her life as she knows it will be forever changed unless she can avoid coming into contact with the boy that give up everything to save her. But he's also the boy that broke and shattered her life.
Brett can't believe the girl that destroyed & betrayed him is back in town, now all he can do is get her car back on the road for her to go on her way.
This is a second chance romance that you will definitely want to read. This couple have such a journey you won't be able to set this book down. Their past is one where they found true love at an early age, yet it was still torn apart. Their journey back isn't so easy, betrayals and trust, truths and lies, so much hurt and pain to be let out and healed.
Their journey to make the impossible, possible is one that will have you captured from beginning to end and have your emotions constantly clawing their way out. Characters that are not only down to earth and feel real, you just find yourself rooting for them so hard!! I wasn't sure what to expect with this book as this is a new author to me, but i'm so glad i met Kenzie and Brett and enjoyed every twist and turn of their struggle to reclaim wrecked lives !!!

Book: Wrecked (Willow Creek Book 2)
Author: A.K. MacBride
Rating: 5 stars
Reviewer: emmasromanticreviews17
Note: I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

So who doesn’t love a good second chance romance? Everyone has that one love in their past that they like to think about what if things had gone differently. This book is one hell of a second chance romance and it is an uphill battle to see if they can get their happily ever after. This results in an emotional rollercoaster ride which will make you laugh, feel sad, frustrated but ultimately leave you smiling. If I am being honest I am not usually a fan of the popular second chance trope, possibly because there is no romance in my past that I would ever want to repeat but after reading this I know I will give this genre more of a chance in the future because this book was fantastic.

Kenzie and Brett were teenage sweethearts that were torn apart by life and people interfering. Brett ends up going to prison for Kenzie and that is the last they see of each other. Brett serves four years before moving to Willow Creek to work for his cell mate, and now best friend Logan. Brett has a very closed off personality and he is angry at the world but mostly he is trying to forget about the only girl who has ever made him feel anything. While he has built a good life for himself surrounded by a great group of friends, he knows that there is something still missing and no amount of sleeping around with random women can fill that void.

When Brett went to prison he left Kenzie without a word until he later sent a letter ending their relationship in the most hurtful of ways and since then she has gone out of her way to please others and be exactly what they expect of her. She has changed who she is to meet the perfect expectations of her family and this involves the ideal guy, Dean. But the problem is that Dean, who was chosen by her parents, does not get her even the slightest bit excited and doesn’t know the real Kenzie. The problem is that her body has not been excited by anyone since the boy who cast her aside.

Twelve years later fate intervenes when Kenzie travels to the small town of Willow Creek for work and her car breaks down resulting in her needing to leave it in Logan’s garage awaiting a part to fix it. Meaning Kenzie will have to stay in town and hopefully not bump into the boy she still dreams about.

Brett and Kenzie’s reunion is far from smooth and while old feelings are very quick to resurface, so do the feelings of anger and resentment that have not been dealt with and have festered over the years. Can they work through their issues and get their happily ever after or has the past changes them irreparably?

Wow, I cannot express how much I love Brett and he should be everyone’s ideal guy. Not only did he sacrifice his freedom for love, which in itself is heroic and sexy, but then when he realised his feelings he embraced them instead of running from what was difficult. Kenzie was such an intriguing character and initially I was unsure if I liked her. She was very much under her parents thumb but feeling stifled she knew that she needed to get away from the fake life she had created and find herself. With the help of Brett she was able to grow as a person and with his love and support she grew in confidence and achieve things for herself. Her development as a character and her growth as a woman finding her own feet was beautiful to witness and ultimately led me to really like Kenzie.

I loved Brett and Kenzie’s relationship so much. This book would be described as a mixture of second chance romance and enemies to lover but am not sure these labels do the book justice at all. I think that Brett and Kenzie were always destined to be together but life, and a series of awful events and interferences got in the way. When they first find each other there is a lot of anger and hatred but I think the way they feel is more out of frustration and longing than genuine hatred. There is a very fine line between love and hate which is clear in this book. Their love is so sweet and passionate that it left me smiling. Reading this book had me feeling like maybe soul mates do exist because that is the only way I can describe the obvious need and pull that they have to each other. True love that will last a life time was enough to pull me in and it kept me reading into the early hours of the morning because I just could not put the book down.

This is the first book that I have read by A.K MacBride but I know for sure that it won’t be the last. This is book 2 in the Willow Creek series, but they are all interconnected standalones so you do not need to have read book one. Book one tells the story of Logan, who I loved in this book, but I did not feel like I was missing information and I did not get confused at any point. However, I do want to know more about Logan so you can be sure I am going to go and download book one straight away. The way A.K MacBride writes the secondary characters is fantastic as it draws you in just the smallest amount, enticing you so that you want more from them, ultimately hooking you into the series. I am hoping next that sexy, cocky vet Chase will find his happily ever after because I loved him. I am looking forward to reading the next instalment but it will have very big shoes to fill as this book is amazing!

I love stories about second chances at love! Brett's and Kenzie's story was so full of anger, hurt and a huge misunderstanding. I had a hard time putting this one down! I was reading before work, at my lunch break, and then I'd pick it up again when I got home later that day! Such a great read! If you haven't read any of A.K. MacBride's books you need to now!

This is my first A.K. McBride book, and boy was I surprised. The synopsis is what drew me to the book. Wrecked is a book that will stick with you and keep you wanting more, even after the last page ends. There's so many emotions that you WILL feel while reading this book.

First is the thought of a man loving you as much as Brett did Kenzie. He gave up his own self preservation for her. His own freedom, for Heavens sake!

Then there's betrayal. It's an awful feeling you have. Because usually once you have this in your head and heart it becomes hatred.

And hatred can lead you down a dark path, that sometimes you can't come back from.

So, why didn't Kenzie stand by the man who gave her everything and then more? You know the answer to this question!

That revelation will leave you gaping with uncertainty and a million questions. Fast forward 12 years into the future, where fate says the pair shall meet again. The two are both feeling hurt and angry by the past that they both think they know. But the question is, do they truly know?

Can you forgive and forget? The book explores all aspects of these questions and more. The power of forgiveness can bring about so many different things to a person who cannot move forward. Moving forward from that dark, dank place to another path full of possibilities.

I will say any theories that you've cooked up in your head will probably turn out wrong. But hey, I am not a mind reader...yep pun intended, and I could be wrong. This book is definitely a top read of 2019, because it is brutal and honest and heartbreaking and it will absolutely keep you glued to the pages!

I will be reading from this author again. This is a definite MUST READ!

What an emotional, empowering and truly awesome story. This is the second book in the series. I was excited to read it. This book was even better than I suspected. This is the story of Brett and Kenzie. We met Brett in book one as Logan's best friend. I was so excited we got his story. This was a powerful story. This was a great second chance romance. But it's so much more. It's a story about what we give up for love. It's a story about forgiveness. It's a story about standing up to those in your lives holding you down. Your happiness is important. This is a story about not letting the one you love get away. I just loved every minute of it. I also loved that there were appearances from previous characters. I was happy to be taken back to Willow Creek. I can't wait for more! I highly suggest this story. It's got everything a romance fan wants and so much more. After reading you will fall in love with this couple and will also feel empowered yourself. And expect to be surprised at your own feelings from start to finish.

The character development is well thought out and the characters are easy to relate to. Another great book by A. K. Macbride
