Thank you Joe and Christopher

Having lost my 27 year old son, 2 years ago, I've been trying to learn how to connect. At the same time I struggle with the thought that maybe the cynics are right and my child is gone. Then I opened Joe's book.

Joe comes across as a simple man, very down to earth and plain speaking. Yet as he tells you his story, you are drawn in, into his family, into his grief, and, most of all, his new relationship with his son. They say that grieving parents, more than any other grievers, are able to connect with each other on a deep level. While I do believe that to be true, Joe has written a book that will give hope to anyone who is grieving a loved one. He had shown us how simple it is to connect with those in the other side, without the need of a medium to stand between.

Thanks to Joe and Christopher, I know now that in my search for a connection to my son, I've been over thinking it. It really is as simple as picking up a pen and pad.

This dad's journey to connect with his deceased son is SO similar to mine. It was fun to listen to his account (audible) of visiting mediums, as well as how he has learned to communicate directly with his son. Not sure if this would be super interesting to anyone who isn't in a similar predicament to mine though? I just appreciated hearing about Joe's experiences.

When we die, that’s it, right? Churches say there is a heaven but never fully explain what that concept means except to say it is a place in the presence of God.

Most people will tell you they believe when you die there is nothing more for you. Yet, the same people don’t quite dismiss spirits or things that may haunt places.

Joe McQuillen is a God-fearing man who doted on his eldest son Christopher. A weekend away with his mates is the last Christopher has on this earth as alcohol, drugs and misadventure take their toll and all are drowned.

Joe is shattered over the loss of his son. However, he overcomes everything he was taught and slowly finds out Christopher has only left his body. His spirit is still alive and can contact him.

Joe pursues contact with Christopher through mediums and starts to use channel writing to allow his son to ‘talk’ to him. The reader is shown how Christopher is now so filled with love. He explains to his dad he had a set time on earth and is undertaking study where he is.

Christopher’s love of children comes through as he explains to Joe he is helping children who have died contact their parents.

This is a good book that will be an eye-opener to many who believe we stop all form of existence once we die.

Heartfelt messages from Joe McQuillen, and from his son Christopher on the other side, are shared in this book. Joe provides his readers with the background story (his 21 y.o. son Christopher passed from an accidental drowning), and he shares his "channel writing" communications with his son. All done with the purpose of helping others who have lost a dearly beloved child or other loved one. The book covers the first two years after Christopher's passing. Having "lost" a child too, and searched for answers, I can say that this book resonates with me. Although I wish that I, too, could have such direct connection with my loved one, I am happy that Joe has that gift and has shared it with us.

A wonderful memoir, both heartbreaking and heartwarming, of a loving father's obsession to communicate with his deceased son's spirit via mediums and meditation to help him bear the unbearable, as told with humor and dignity.

A beautiful, honest story about the love between father & son, and the search for connection “on the other side.” Very thought provoking!

Incredible book

This book is a must read for anyone suffering grief over losing a child or anyone. Joe has offered a beautiful gift in writing this book; he offers hope. Hope that there is something beyond this life where we will see our loved ones again. I have shared this book with friends and family. With my Aunt, who last year lost her son only months after losing her 2 sisters. The gift Joe gives is no small feat. To do so, he lays open his and Chris' entire lives the good and the rough patches. This couldn't have been easy for this guy who still plays hockey and golfs with his friends. Joe reminds us of one very important thing-- love never dies. The other thing he conveys is that the energy, or the individual life source, is eternal, it goes on and on.
To anyone experiencing grief, this all is of great comfort. To think that this run of the mill guy, who sold cars, can provide this information is amazing. I was at his local book signing and the reception he recieved from other Dads in the audience was astounding. He gave quite a few, his phone number and e-mail so they could contact him later.
Anyone who is experiencing grief from the loss of a loved one, should read this book. You won't regret it and you will find comfort.

I found this book to be very insightful, reflecting the author's invaluable experiences and the wisdom he has acquired. The loss of a child is perhaps the most profound tragedy one can endure, and I find it difficult to conceive how one might personally navigate such an overwhelming sorrow. The author provides comfort to those who have experienced the premature loss of a loved one and gives the rest of us reassurance that there is an afterlife.

An interesting read. The typos throughout the book distract from the story.
