"To understand your enemies, you must first let go of your hatred. Only then may you forgive. Only then may you understand." It was absolutely fantastic! I was truly impressed, a pleasure to read. The protagonist is a strong tough girl who proves that strength is found when it’s needed. The author writes in a way that makes readers want to be there for her. Some scenes are emotional and painful, lump in the throat, so realistically written it is. Plot twists abound, taking you into a journey of awe and deceit, making you wonder about the ulterior motives behind the arrival of this so called evolved humans, intrigue and suspense. Can’t wait to read book 2, Women of Rank! I received an early version of this book from the publisher and my review is entirely voluntary.

Vendel Rising by new and upcoming sci-fi author L. A. Warren is an highly entertaining series you don't want to miss.
This is a short novel that packs allot of pouch and e ends with a cliffhanger. I enjoyed reading it as it is not your typical alien novel. I really want to know the why and the how in this storyline so I guess I'll have to keep reading the series.
The year is 2035 and “aliens” have approached Earth. In truth they are humans who left thousands of years ago and have now returned looking for something. A celebratory dinner to honor them results in dire circumstance.
Elise lost her parents and grandmother early, and was raised by her grandfather who is also a leader to the world. The alien Emperor takes an interest in Elise and the “perfume” he puts on her wrist creates a compelling desire for the dark man though she believes he is a monster.
As events unfold it becomes apparent that the aliens are in control, and obedience is the only means towards survival. A fascinating beginning to this 4-part series. I will definitely be reading more!!

This is the beginning of a fantastic series! This is Volume 1 of a 4 Volume series, and will have you within it's grasp by the end of the first few pages. The characters are intriguing and so wonderfully rounded. The book itself is well written with descriptive and emotive scenes. The storyline, well this storyline will have you glued to your seat and holding on tight, as you embark on a journey like no other. Cannot wait to get my greedy little hands onto the rest of the series.

Wow!! This is such an intriguing and different type of sci/fi story. I am utterly hooked and need to know what is going to happen next now. The characters are just amazing and can't wait to see what happens next with them. The plot and story line is just so intriguing and keeps you hooked and wanting more. I can't wait to read the rest of the series. Recommend reading.
I picked up a free copy from book funnel and this is my own honest voluntary review.
ELise Compton was born into a world of privilege, but has known great loss and grief in her short life. While participating in a charity event, her world is unequivocally altered....
The Vendel say they come in peace, to open up trade with Earth; that they are there to enjoy Earth's treasures. But what, exactly, do the Vendel consider treasure? Elise is about to find out...
This has got to be one of the most fascinating and riveting science fiction books I have ever read. It grabs you by the throat from the first sentence, and doesn't let go. I devoured this book in a matter of hours. So much action and an absolute roller coaster of emtions! Can't WAIT to see what L.A. Warren has in store for Elise!
This was one of the most interesting alien reads I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading. I’m seriously intrigued and need to know what happens next! L.A. Warren did a fantastic job, these aliens aren’t even really alien either, humans that left earth so long ago no one remembers it, brilliant. The sickness was crazy scary and I don’t fully understand it yet, can’t wait to find out more about all that. The submission this was intense and Gregor didn’t really seem like he wanted it, I’m curious about all that too. I want to know so much more about their culture and ways, can’t wait to read volume 2!
When I got to the part why some humans who left Earth 2,000 years ago returned and bearing gifts, I was furious with their deceit and their true intent - to enslave Earth women via some weird science and turn them into weapons.
While their intent seemed noble - save the human race - their methods left me appalled and rooting for the heroine of this story to prevail... and kick their asses for wiping out most life on Earth.
I couldn’t put the book away. Couldn’t wait to see what would happen next.
I truly enjoyed this book. I found it was a unique approach to end of the world as we know it. My one an only gripe is simply based on my pet peeve I hate a book that leaves you hanging unless I can automatically pick up the next book in the series an continue to read. But that said I still don't regret reading it an I am patiently with a lot of excitement waiting for the next books in this series.
Odd story of humanoid first (?) contact. Book One ends with more questions than answers. Possible spoiler: I’m getting “Mars Needs Women” vibes. Due to the torture and death I can only give this a “maybe” rating but the questions do have me curious about a few things. I’ll have to see if there’s a Vendel glossary. But it would be nice to know what WOR means as well as opés.
The character of Elise is fiesty and more you read about her more you feel her pain and confusion.
You are kept on edge and wondering what will comes next after meeting the Vendel and especially Gregor. Will she believe what he's telling her and what will become of her.
She does not believe them when they say they are their to save them. They took everything from them and get they tell them they are saving the earth. Are they telling the truth? What is really going on? See what is really going on

Wow!! This is one of those books you feel you MUST finish! Great start to a fantastic new series. Readable, engaging, a little bit predictable, but overall, such a well written beginning!
As a former English/creative writing instructor, you have plenty of wiggle room to add more description. I look forward to reading more!!
This is a great start to the series! A change from what I usually read and really enjoyed. The story is well written with great characters. It was hard to put down and I’m really looking forward to the rest of the series. I recommend reading this book!! (I received this book as an arc and am leaving a voluntary honest review)
This was a great short read that accomplished its goal, it got me hooked. The author did a great job of developing a story that is full of excitement and adventure. I really liked the characters and found them to be real. I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.
I really enjoyed with the book, as it never felt stalled or like filler, and it truly sucked me into the story as well as the setting. It seemed to switch between written simply and more complex, but I was always able to understand and appreciate it throughout the story.
This was a great read. Well-written with well-developed characters, the storyline keeps you engaged throughout. I was so glad I tried this one - I really enjoyed it and can't wait to read the next book.
I am not a big science fiction fan, but was curious about this book. Wow! It grabbed me right from the start and didn’t let go. A very well written and engaging story that kept me on my toes the whole time. Couldn’t put it down. I loved it and can’t wait for the next,
This book kept my interest and I could not put it down. Cannot wait to see what happens next. I think Gregor got a lot more than he bargained for with Elise. Looking forward to reading more in this series.
I absolutely loved this story! The characters are so charismatic and out there! The story took me on a roller coaster ride leaving me on the edge of my seat! I mean how would it feel to be physically attached/attracted to someone who was responsible for the destruction of all you knew?
I was drawn in from the beginning of the first page of this book. It is a great story and quite entertaining and engaging there are totally unexpected scenes, twist and turns with realistic details.
Tantalizing start to an unusual series! Sci-fi at it's best! Applause.
If I could I would rate this at least an 11. Fascinating start to earth dominance, a strong heroine and intriguing first read in series. Reading the second ASAP. New author for me to follow.
Aliens! Not really! Mass confusion mixed with mass murder as the majority of Earth's population is removed. Attraction and revulsion competing for dominance in the mind and spirit of the targeted heroine as she is enslaved! Excellent read!

Very cool beginning making the reader rooting for the main character till book ends. Author creative in building a strong mystique for evil overlords that will have readers wanting the next installment.
Why spread a story over so many books? The idea is interesting: aliens who are descendants from spacetravellers from earth come to a near future earth. Them catastophe hits.
OMG! This is an amazing story line. I can't wait to find out what happens next between Elise and the Vendel! Lots of mystery shrouded in their arrival so far.
