I loved the hero’s love for his dog. He was so cute (the dog) And because of it I’m rating it 4 stars. But it’s more like 3 stars. Eh sue me I love dogs! 🤷🏻‍♀️
I liked the hero, I don’t know how I feel about the heroine. She spent the book either crying and clueless. I didn’t like that when she first met the hero’s dog she was a bit annoyed because the dog humped her. She later in the book screamed at the poor dog because she was pissed so she took it out on the poor dog. She lost points with me. I couldn’t like her after that.

Sophia has always wanted to create documentaries focused on topics that matter, but she quickly learned that she wasn't going to be able to pay her bills that way, so she eventually ended up doing cooking shows. She has since moved on to reality TV and is still adjusting to the change. The first show she's assigned is focused on people who love a particular holiday so much that they basically live it 24/7. She's initially told that Will is completely on board to take part in the show, but in reality he takes a bit of convincing. Will decides Sophia is honest when she says she'll present him in a sensitive way, so he agrees to do the show. It also doesn't hurt that he and Sophia are attracted to each other.

Will loves Christmas, so much so that his house is elaborately decorated for it, and he's gotten special effects friends of his in the movie industry to help him out. Sophia finds herself falling for Will more and more as she learns about him and the motivations behind his house and the charity work he does that's connected to it. However, what neither Sophia nor Will realize is that Sophia's boss has very different plans for the show than what Sophia laid out for Will.

This was one of my Book Bonanza 2022 purchases. The author was part of the welcome panel, and I enjoyed the bit where she talked about the casting for the Passionflix movie based on this book. When I went to her table, I was actually more interested in her other book, Animate Me, but I figured I'd give this one a shot too. I'm not much of a fan of Christmas myself, not since it started creeping into half the year, but it looked relatively cute and I figured that the fact that it was turned into a movie meant that it was at least okay quality. (Yeah, I know, "it was made into a movie" doesn't technically mean anything, but still...)

Emotionally, it moved way too fast. Sophia was supposedly a professional, and yet she was flirting with Will pretty much immediately. Considering the way they behaved around each other, it would have made a lot more sense if Sophia had never managed to convince Will to do the show but they ended up dating as a result of that first meeting. It was honestly kind of weird that Will agreed to the show when they both knew that they wouldn't (shouldn't) progress any further in their attraction to each other until after filming was complete.

They couldn't even stick to that, by the way. Supposedly professional Sophia couldn't stop herself from touching and flirting with Will on-set, and at one point they escaped to a storage closet for a make-out session. They had sex for the first time well before filming was finished. It really didn't present Sophia in a good light, considering Will was supposed to be an interview subject for her work. She'd tell herself to get a grip, but then she spent most of the book letting her hormones run rampant.

The scenes where Sophia and Will talked about Will's past and his motivations behind his Christmas house were nice enough, although I'd have liked them more if they'd been part of a slow-burn "getting to know each other" period on the way to their eventual romance, instead of brief stops during their already raging attraction to each other. Unfortunately, the author ruined those potentially fluffy moments by including way too many jealousy scenes and adding details to Will's character that I considered to be red flags.

First, the jealousy. Both Will and Sophia were guilty of this, although Sophia's jealousy was more frequent. She got her hackles up anytime she saw another young woman around Will, and it was way too easy for her to believe that Will was a womanizer, even though she should have known that Paul's interviewing tactics were fishy and designed for maximum drama. Meanwhile, it didn't seem like Sophia could even work with another man without Will thinking she might be interested in him, unless the guy was gay. They both needed to tone it down, a lot.

Second, Will's red flags. He blew up when Sophia, as part of her job, tried to calm down one of Will's irate neighbors, because she was putting herself in danger - his wording made me think past girlfriends of his had probably accused him of being controlling and overprotective. At one point, Will also told Sophia that he ended up in juvie because he nearly beat a guy to death for hitting on his girlfriend. I couldn't help but think of this admission when he punched a guy to a pulp later in the book - granted, the person was threatening Will's home and his dog, but there's nothing romantic about out-of-control violent rage.

By the end of the book, I'd have been happier if Will and Sophia had gone their separate ways, which is definitely not something you want readers to be thinking at the end of a romance novel.

Additional Comments:

I caught quite a few incorrectly used words, missing quotation marks, and questions that didn't end in question marks. It was still perfectly readable, but combined with my feelings about the characters and story, it wasn't great.

Uhm ... I wanted to DNF a lot in the beginning of the book. But I hate DNFing, so I kept on reading - I wanted to get it read before watching the movie on passionflix. And it got a little better.
But I just couldn't totally fall in love with anyone. I didn't see any chemistry between those two - ugh, I just finished reading and I can't even remember their names!!!!!!!
The guy was so insecure - so very weirdly soft and unlikable. It was always said how he looks so hopeful or like a little boy or how his face fell ... I didn't know if it was heartbreakingly adorable or just weird! He's a grown man! He should've been in therapy years ago!
And the story? Ugh, it was so predictable and stupid and immature and ... just weird. Cheesier than any Hallmark movie I've ever seen - and those are ... ☺
BUT - it got better - I kinda liked those two and the dog by the end and I really hope that with all the visual christmas stimulation in the movie, I'll like them even more!

I also kind of missed the revenge part a bit?! I was hoping/expecting them to do something against the tv people - maybe make their own documentary about the house and Will and air it before the other one. But they didn't do anything in the end. That was a bit sad and unispired ...

It wasn't a bad book, it was christmasy - I love that so much - and it was sweet and heartbreaking and sad and exciting. It just wasn't anywhere near amazing or ... good. The writing too. This was my 3rd Ruth book and I remember this from the other books ... no idea what is weird about the writing but there's something that I don't like. Maybe it doesn't flow through my brain like other author's words/sentences? No idea. BUT, even the writing got a bit better the more I read - or at least I got used to it. ☺

4 Romeo stars!

“You inspire me, Will. You took a devastating childhood and decided not to let it define your life. Instead you’ve created something extraordinary that’s positive and makes people happy.”

Rainbows, Christmas lights and happily ever afters. Will and Sophia took us in a journey full of life, warmth and cherished memories.

I watched the movie and decided to read the book and between the two, I must admit that I loved the movie better especially the magical house where Will lived.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

Newbie TV producer Sophie is covering a TV reality program about people who celebrate holidays in an over-the-top fashion.

Will (aka Mr. Christmas), decorates his home Christmas themed and hands out Christmas ornaments 365 days a year.

Sophie's job is to reel Will in and partake in the reality show.

From the moment Sophie and Will meet to discuss him agreeing to do the show, Sophie is enamored by his handsomeness.

Will is taken back by Sophie's beauty. It was an instant attraction.

Their flirty banter has the reader smiling and instantly drawn in.

Will is not the crazy guy people seem to think he would be. He helps the homeless and disadvantaged children. He has a great heart and does this to bring joy in other's lives.

The story of Will's past, has you emotionally invested in the story and you can't help but be enraptured by Will and his little dog Romeo.

Sophie says it perfectly - "Will is like a Russian nesting doll. He has all these layers to him - the charmer, the wounded child, the holiday over-doer - getting smaller and smaller until the last doll. Will's true self." You desperately want to know all of Will's backstory, and the more you do, the more it tugs at your heart.

Ms. Clampett is a smart and witty writer, who has a way of magnetically drawing you in. The story is a great read and I will definitely be recommending Mr. 365 to everyone. There are two quotes that I saved, that will forever be a part of me, and I hope you will love Sophie and Will 365 days, just like I know I have.

I give this book five stars and can't wait for more from Ruth Clampett!

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Will Saunders celebrates Christmas 365 days a year in his Christmas house. He supports children's charities and even allows tours of said home, in fact he seems pretty perfect, but not every chapter of his story is a happy one. There is always a reason for the quirks people have, as endearing as those quirks may seem.

Enter Sophia a naive, wannabe documentary film maker currently doing a stint as a reality television producer. Her newest assignment is to convince Will to take part in a reality show segment highlighting people who celebrate holidays in over-the-top ways. Little does she know that things aren't always what they seem. Case and point: Will is not the weirdo, Christmas freak she expects to meet. In fact, she finds him rather irresistible.

From their first meeting sparks fly in both directions! And the chemistry between them makes it nearly impossible to put this book down. The characters are so well developed and relatable that you can imagine yourself in the world that Ms. Clampett has created. I want to go to the Christmas House! And trust me when I tell you that you want to read this book!

I gave "Mr. 365" a five star rating and I am eager to go where ever Ruth Clampett chooses to take us next!

I can't remember where I read such glowing reviews of this book a while back but those reviews piqued my interest, so when the book was on sale for $.99 I snatched it up. I had high hopes for this story but unfortunately it fell short for me. Frankly Will wasn't a very likeable character to me. He didn't want to come across as a loon on the show but, honestly, he kind of was a loon. There is a good reason for his behavior but it really didn't feel that it was completely justified.
I liked Sophia but I think she didn't have a good grasp on her own tv project and therefore was run over by the rest of her crew.

The writing wasn't bad but the whole story just left me with no residual feelings, good or bad.

With the first day of fall, I wanted to read a Christmas themed book since I was in the mood for one. A bit early, but it is not summer, right?
This was simple, light, easy, and I didn't need to think too hard. Will loves Christmas and keeps his house decorated every single day of the year, all 365 days (the title gives it away). Sophia is a reality show producer that talks him into doing a show. Will is super hot (because of course he is) and has a past (gasp!). These 2 have instant chemistry (insta-lust!). This being a reality show, the producers, try to make it more interesting.
For the most part, the 2 leads talk to each other and their relationship progresses/develops in a kind of believable way (it's a bit fast). I liked Romeo too (he is Will's dog).

Mr. 365 is the fun new novel by Ruth Clampett and a must read! Will is a man with a love of all things Christmas to the point that the inside of his house is spectacularly decorated all year long. Sophia is a naïve new reality producer given the job of getting the often refusing Will to agree to be on Tru- Blue network’s holiday special. When they meet sparks fly and Will agrees to be featured as long as Sophia promises that it will be an honest portrayal of what he does. However, due the ruthless nature of the reality TV world, crazy and dangerous neighbors the story takes some stressful and mildly angsty twists and turns. As is her form Ms. Clampett gets our beloved characters back on track with humor and honesty and we do get our happy holiday ending.
I loved the characters in this book. The story of Will and Sophia is what made this a book I could not put down and I did read it in one night! Sophia is a strong and intelligent although somewhat idealistic woman who due to the realities of life (paying off college loan paying rent )makes choices in her life journey that are not true to who she is. Fortunately, she realizes that it is important to do what is right and follow her dreams no matter how difficult it may be in the short term. Will fights the demons and sadness of his youth while trying to desperately hold on to the only joy he remembers –Christmas. He is also a good hearted man who helps the homeless and donates to families in need. In their time together and apart as their relationship grows (and falls apart at times) we see them grow as individuals and as a couple. They were both able to use their inner qualities to help them through difficult times. This is so perfectly described by Will’s discussion of his tattoo. “It’s a reminder that like a tree’s roots, we have vast inner resources under the surface that can lend wisdom and stability no matter what shit is going down around us. That idea has gotten me through some rough times.” In addition to the main characters there were many support characters that made the story even more enjoyable My favorite was Will’s dog Romeo, with a very interesting habit ,who falls in love with Sophia as well.
Ms. Clampett writes with such great humor. Many times I was just laughing out loud. She also writes some very hot romance. Finally her use of words is just so wonderful that I had to go back and read some parts over and over again-(“I feel like a kite in the wind and you’re slowly pulling me in” and “He wraps his arm around my waist tying us together like a Christmas present.”)
Mr. 365 is a great book for the holidays but also anytime you want a modern day love story. Give it to everyone on your Christmas list. They will thank you for the gift! I can’t wait for more from Ruth Clampett!

OK, First I have to say I rarely review books in writing. I just don't consider myself a good enough writer to get my true feelings about a story on paper so to speak. I have only reviewed three other books in my life this will be my fourth and second for this author. Ruth Clampett completely gets her audience. She knows exactly how to write a story that pulls you into it and makes you feel like you are a friend having coffee with the characters. You actually can see yourself in the story being friends with these characters.

Sometimes when you read a book it can take a few chapters if not more to get into the story but not with this book. Within the first chapter you already are so interested in what will happen next that you can not put the book down. The introduction is an amazing set up for the entire story and really grabs you so to speak. By the time you finish the second chapter you can not help but be in love with the two main characters Sophia and Will.

Now when I first heard the story line for this book I thought to myself, how can an entire book be about a character that loves Christmas so much he celebrates it 365 day of the year? I thought it would take some pretty fancy writing to keep the audience involved in the story and to also fall in love with the characters and route for them to win. But having read Ruth Clampett's first book "Animate Me" I was pretty sure she could pull it off. Well let me tell you she does more than pull it off, she writes an AMAZING story about Christmas that even the die hard non Christmas fan would have a hard time not liking. She doesn't throw Christmas into the story in a way that is overboard or over whelming. Its just the right amount and brings about that good warm feeling most of us experience around the holidays. The only difference is she makes you believe that warm feeling can be year round.

I completely fell in love with these characters and could see myself being their friends. Its a really great story. I loved every twist and turn and would love to see where they are in 10 years. If your looking for a new book to read that will grab your attention from page one and keep you wanting more until the last page this is the book for you. I promise you will not be disappointed and will be on the look out for her next book after reading this one. Ruth Clampett will become one of your favorite authors after you read this book and you will eagerly want for her next book. So what are you waiting for go get MR 365 right now and join me in meeting Sophia and Will and falling in love with them. I promise you will not be disappointed.

This wasn't terrible. Well, correction, the beginning was in fact terrible. I picked this up because the first chapter (the production meeting prior to meeting Sophia and Will) made me laugh, but the first blush of lust between the leads was fantastically cheesy. The book improves when it moves away from that phase, except that it settles into a pattern of angst, angst, sex over and over again. I read Xmas Romance because it's usually sweeter and not so angsty, so some of this is just an expectation mismatch. Oh, and I found Will's anger problems a huge turn-off. This one just really was not for me.

Loved Mr. 365!

Ruth Clampett once again gives us a beautiful and heartfelt story.
I found myself more than once just stop reading to enjoy the beautiful picture Ruth's words painted in my head.

You will fall in love with Will and Sophia! They are both good people with big hearts. From their first meeting you can feel the chemistry they share.

I loved watching them fall in love and working through the problems that they faced.

My heart is so full of love after reading Mr. 365, Ruth Clampett sure knows how to make her readers swoon and forget about real life for a few hours.

Thank you Ruth Clampett for writing Mr. 365, can't wait to read more from you!

I believe this is my first full length Ruth Clampett novel. This was a really cute read and different holiday read that I haven't read before. I will say it was sad reading about the one part of the dog Romeo (you'll know what I'm talking about). Will sure know how to charm the pants off of Sophia. I can't wait to see the movie now.

Even reading this book during the Christmas season didn't do it for me. It was cheesy, fairly shallow, and predictable. I feel somewhat embarrassed to have even read it, especially since this is not my kind of book. I loved Animate Me though.

*** 4.5 star ***

This book has a lot of emotions in it and engrosses the reader in the lives of two people who could be them. It's about love and heartbreak, trust and betrayal and hopes and dreams and scars left behind from childhood. How could you not love a story like this?

I'm not sure who stole my heart more, Hank or Romeo. Each plays their own part in the story and both are loveable.

If you like Christmas, you will love this book. I loved the backstory of how the tradition started and I loved how the tradition changed. Read this book and then tell me you didn't fall in love with these characters.

I had such a great time with this book. I mean, the man loves Christmas, helps the homeless and at-risk youth and is an animal lover. What's not to love? And more importantly...why can't he be real?!
Ruth has written an adorable modern love story with a whimsical twist - and perfect timing for the holidays. Hope we haven't seen the last of this pair!
And now I'm ready to go decorate.

I'm just going to come out and say that this book fell short for me. After reading the synopsis, I thought it would be the perfect holiday read. The premise was unlike anything I've ever read and sounded fun. While there were parts I enjoyed, it just wasn't what I expected.

2.5 stars. Very predictable and boring plot. Dialogue was predictable and boring. Didn’t feel any real chemistry between the characters.
I really really wanted to like this book and am excited and ready to watch it on Passionflix. I think it will make an easy and nice adaptation. I hope the corny dialogue is better but...it reads like a Hallmakr channel screenplay. And even the sex is boring. I don’t mind the slow build. But it was so cheese whiz.
Reality Tv producer Sophia has to convince a guy who lives in his grandparents house and keeps it decorated for Xmas year round to fill a hole in his heart and to help kids and charities. Of course doofus producer Sophia falls for Will (though Will makes first move out of no where. No real chemistry) and also falls for the premise that her company is not going to use and abuse Will as they portray as some lunatic crazed Xmas aficionado and come off all crazy knnTV. So stupid. Sorry I wasted my money.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author. Took a little bit for me to get into this book. This book really did remind me of a Hallmark Christmas movie, but not in a cheesy way. I do wish the author had given more background to Will. Some of his past teenage years were mentioned but no in depth. It was just glossed over. We know about it but no real details. I totally understood Sophia’s initial hesitation in dating Will. His Christmas house was over the top. But you definitely could not argue their chemistry. It was pretty hot. I did really like this story, at times it made my heart hurt and made me sad. But overall a good story.

This is story will surprise you every step of the way. Sophia talks Will into doing a show about the Holidays show casing his Christmas 🎄 House. She promises to make it an uplifting story, but from the first meeting Sophia didn’t expect Will to be so handsome and put together. Sophia doesn’t realize she is being played & has no control on the edit of the Christmas show. This is a sweet must read; find out if Will & Sophia can weather the storm; plus you will be shocked but proud of what Sophia does in the end. Thank you Ruth Clampett for sharing your talent & stories ❤️

oy, vey. this was not for me. i would have DNF'd it, except i was reading it for a challenge and i want to watch the passionflix movie.

i'll keep this short and as non-asshole as possible. the writing, the story, the characters, all a hard no from me. what was with all the ridiculous jealousy? why were they both so insecure? it was all so cheesy and not in a good predictable this is why i read romance way. i tried, i really did, i wanted to like it but it just really didn't work for me and i super don't recommend.

well I am not sure what appealed to me about this book to make me select it for reading, but I threw in the towel at 51%. I found the writing, the story, the characters to be shallow and cheesy I believe is the term that some other reviewers used. Sorry it just did nothing for me and was annoying.

An emotionally charged story , Will and Sophia are fantastic .
Hopes and dreams , Romance and jumping in with both feet. Betrayal hurt and finding the right path.
This story has some characters that made me want to have them suffer immensely for being hateful individuals.
5 stars and I recommend it to all.

Not your typical Hallmark Christmas Story

I thought the book was good and I liked the concept of it. Will and Sophie were likable. The only problem for me was she was always so worried he was going to break up with her and I wish he would have been a little more alpha. But I like it was a sweet quick read.

3*
