It just felt very informal to me when it was supposed to be an educational, informative read. I found many things wrong with this book and not just because it was the required reading material for a college class of mine. To start, none of the facts and information given were cited, so as a reader trying to learn something from this you had no idea where the author was getting the information or if it was completely factual or not. Secondly, I felt that the author repeated themselves for the first half of the book. A constant “do this to engage with audiences and be ahead of your competition” was repeatedly used but just worded differently. I learned some useful information, but ultimately didn’t learn anything I’ve never heard of before. The author promotes being quick to get ahead of competition when it comes to getting your brand out there and then finishes by saying “slow and steady wins the race!”??? They contradicted themselves. I hate to be so negative but I would look elsewhere for tips and tricks on social media marketing strategies and such.
The title hooked me but the content did not live up to it. I expected more insight towards future prospects and trends when it covered topics already discussed online in blogs and articles. There is very few new insight which you can easily get from other sources. The only good thing is that it's short so you don't need to invest a lot of time in this book if you decide to check it out for yourself.
This had some basic information about social media trends in the United States. It doesn't give a lot of good in-depth information & is not a resource for someone looking for something more than a basic overview of where things might be headed. I don't recommend this book if you want in-depth information or global trends outside of the mainland United States.
Good mastery level of all the social sites and how they are currently being used.
There are a few nuggets of wisdom on predicting new advertising opportunities. The downside I felt was the lack of specifics to marketing to older adults, seemed the book was geated towards toward millineals and gen z.
It was a good overall presentation of social media. Although the title was about 2020...it was dated a year and a half or so. Not a ton of specifics but good general info about all the social media platforms. Also great strategy on how to implement the platforms.
Lucid and readable. Relevant information given. Most topics covered. Details of more important information provided. A lot of new technological ideas got me interested in researching on some we topics
This book would be good for people who are probably not in the game already and are starting from scratch. There were a few good tips in there, but most of the things I already pretty much knew.
