What will justice cost them?

Wyatt “The Hawk” Hawkinson’s job overseeing the railroad spur to Noelle is supposed to bring him the redemption he craves- and the money to finally avenge his late wife’s death. But when sabotage brings the railroad crashing down, so, too, are Hawk’s dreams. Now he’s after a murderer and a saboteur, but the task has been made more difficult by the interference of a certain young lady who distracts him from everything he holds dear.

Rosalind Creary needs to see her father’s murderer brought to justice, not just for peace of mind, but also so people will stop blaming her family for the railroad’s problems. She seeks to build a new life for her and her family in Noelle, but without justice, they can’t move forward.

Hawk is supposed to be helping the Crearys, but are the demons of his past preventing him from doing his job effectively? Can she trust him, or is she blinded by her growing attraction to him? Is Hawk willing to let go of his grief over his late wife to see the possibility of a new love and a new future, or will his quest for vengeance lead him straight to the hangman’s noose?

A self-professed crazy chicken lady, Danica Favorite loves the adventure of living a creative life. She loves to explore the depths of human nature and follow people on the journey to happily ever after. Though the journey is often bumpy, those bumps are what refine imperfect characters as they live the life God created them for. Oops, that just spoiled the ending of all of Danica’s stories. Then again, getting there is all the fun.

It's fantastic how the subplot is furthered along in this book. Shenanigans are afoot and the culprits are at large, well, those still alive that is. It will be interesting how the subplot is furthered along in the next book.

Our main male character, Wyatt "The Hawk" Hawkinson, is determined to get justice, but at what cost? Rosalind, female lead, is intelligent, tenacious, and also determined to help her family recover from a tragedy and get justice. All in all, a pretty good book.

If you haven't read The Lord: The Tenth Day, I highly recommend it, just read the preceding nine books first. You'll be glad you did.

Well... the beginning was a bit bothersome. It got exciting about 2/3 in to the book, and I rather enjoyed the mystery.

I didn't enjoy Rosalind's stupidity and whining, though. I hate heroines who just have to engage in the police work and investigations, who whine about the police/PI not sharing with them all the information, even though they have nothing to do with the business, and even though they are being told over and over again to back off and leave the police business to people whose job it is.
But, she got more reasonable and rational toward the end of the book.

It was very exciting, though, and I just have to read the next book! :-D

Danica Favorite weaves historical facts of bringing the railroad to Noelle, Colorado. The plot is a page turner with many twists and turns. Who murdered Rosalind's father? Who is sabotaging the railroad project? Will the Hawk and Rosalind be able to solve the mystery and save the town from financial ruin? The railroad is needed to bring supplies and merchandise to Noelle and take out the silver. A well crafted story that makes the reader long for more.

Wyatt “The Hawk” Hawkinson’s - Railroad "manager" and Rosalind- daughter of one of the railroad workers.
I enjoyed reading this action pack and dramatic story that is well written and with charismatic characters. Their story has a complete HEA!, but there are some unanswered questions.
