Reyanne Harper is an elementary school teacher in a not-so-normal world. Destructive hail storms and earthquakes, food shortages, and significantly rising sea levels are becoming the new norm.

But there is a plan to save the human race. A plan Reyanne unknowingly helped to formulate.

Without warning, she is whisked off on a mission to travel through a wormhole in space to a planet scientists hope will sustain human life. The mission seems simple enough but there are more unknowns than her team can possibly prepare for.
The fate of the world is in their hands…will they be enough to save it?

This is a cozy feel-good science-fiction read. The start is like in the ‘Interstellar’ movie, the Earth is becoming inhabitable with poor vegetation and frequent extreme weather conditions. A group is tasked with finding a potential new home for humankind. They are to return with their analysis, after which a team which will prepare for habitation will be sent, and they will terraform the planet if required. The similarity with ‘Interstellar’ ends here.

Reyanne Harper, a school teacher is surprised at being included as part of the group. The reason was that she had published a paper on how the Androski wormhole could be a gateway to a habitable planet. Scientists have determined that this is indeed possible and the planet Noah can be reached via this wormhole while is currently active. Space photos of Noah indicate a terrain composition of 60% water and the rest being a mix of desert and fertile land. The other members of the group on this Omni-4 mission are - Colonel Aldar Finch, Captain Curt Henning, Captain Sandra Anderson, Dr Nathan Gale and Major Ben Vonn, all with relevant space, science and medical expertise needed for such an endeavour. Another consideration in the team selection is people who do not have much to return to.

The journey through the wormhole has its risks and after a turbulent passage, the group escapes the pull of one of Noah’s moons and are overjoyed to see the beautiful planet. They land and within hours are taken aback by the huge tides which sweep water rapidly over vast distances. Noah’s moon exerts far more influence on the surface water than Earth’s moon does. The planet comes across as hostile and just maybe that caused extinction of any lifeforms that existed. Or did they happen to land on the wrong part of the planet? The next hours do indicate that this place has had or maybe still has intelligent life. And then they make a startling discovery.

This is an easy read and I loved the twist in the later part of the book. The science is broad to make it seem plausible and sustain interest without getting bogged down into details. The character development is just about adequate with only a little background to each of them.

My rating: 4.25 / 5.

Look forward to the next book in the series now.

The Earth is dying. Major earthquakes, flooding, huge hail and other weather threats are common. Sea level is rising and a good part of Florida is under water. Tectonic plates are moving faster than ever before causing massive problems of their own. Part of Texas has slid into the Gulf of Mexico. It's an extinction level event.

Scientists have found a wormhole and sent a probe through it, detecting a planet that humans could possible inhabit. The plan is to build huge spaceships and send as many people through as they can even though that would still make up only a tiny fraction of humans on Earth.

The Omni-4 will be a manned probe to be sent to check out the planet and determine if it is indeed inhabitable. The book goes into the crew members and their backgrounds. Their ship goes through the wormhole and is nearly destroyed but they still manage to land on the planet.

On the plus side the atmosphere seems breathable. There's some land available but it includes an odd dead zone. There's plenty of water and some plant life. The group sets out to explore and they find out the bad side of the planet.

It has two moons, one of them with a strong enough gravity to cause huge tidal waves. There's also a strange blizzard-like event.

Then there's a very, very important discovery by the crew. Not everything is what it appears to be.

Overall a good story although I am somewhat concerned that there was no effort to check for microbes before landing.

Well that was creepy! I love Jackie Druga. She's the Queen of the Apocalypse, and she always does a great job setting the stage and freaking people out.

While there were a few things in the book that make you say, 'Hmmmmm....' and question how in the hell they could possibly happen that way (I'm looking at you, Baltimore), you just have to let it go. It's a fiction book. If you try and pick apart every single thing, you're taking yourself out of the story and missing the point.

I definitely recommend this and almost every other Druga book. I'm wondering if she's planning a book two for this? I see the listing says 'Earth Endures, #1', but the book closed on what could absolutely be a final ending. Personally, I'd love to explore 'Noah' and the rest of the planet a lot more, but I guess I'll just have to wait and see!

⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

This was an interesting read. I don't think I've ever read a book where people travel through a wormhole. The plot was a mix of time travel, extinction events and repopulating a new planet.

The pacing was a little slow at times. I found myself skimming paragraphs. I did put the book down a few times to come back to it later.

The characters were good. I felt bad for Rey because everyone has their assigned jobs and particular skills whereas she was just chosen because of her written essay. She felt left out and useless.

There were a few plot twists that I didn't see coming. They were done well and really made the plot more interesting.

The ending was ok but I'm looking forward to reading the next book and finding out what happens to everyone.

This book follows a group of individuals who have suffered great personal losses from the disasters impacting earth - floods, sinkholes, earthquakes and more. We come to find out they have been chosen for their unique skills...and because they have limited links left to earth. In an effort to save humanity, they will be on a search through a wormhole for a new planet to call home. This book is interesting, suspenseful and heart wrenching. As I've come to expect from the author, the characters are described so well I feel I know them all. This is a great read and a keeper!

I must say I love this book. Need book 2 now!! I’ll try to put my Amazon review on later.
First off...need the next book like yesterday!! I love this story. Also love the old movie add on. Brilliant.
This could be now. Our planet turning against us. Disaster after disaster. The solution, use a wormhole and find a new planet to send some of humanity. Brilliant idea, right? Ummm, maybe not. That’s all I can say about it.
The characters are wonderfully written. Want to smack a few of them, so that tells how well they are written.
Grab this, enjoy. Then stalk the author for the next book. J/ K.

A JD. SYFY. Novel (EEB. - 1) A New Earth

JD. has. penned A SYFY. adventure thriller about the demise of Earth and the new opportunity in a new planet called, Noah. Earth is slowly but surely falling apart at the seans. There are numerous weather problems, earthquakes, etc. The citizens of Earth have constructed a space ship called the Ark and this is the saving grace for humanity. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS

This was so much better than her pandemic and virus books. Those books had great ideas..were fun to read..but the grammar and editing issues were just too much. This science book, about dystopian evens, was well written, few grammar and editing issues...it was so much better than the others I read. This concept was interesting and unique and the science was sound, and intelligent. I look forward to the other 2 in the trilogy.

Another Great Read!

Another Great read from Jacqueline Drugs and a most promising start to a new series! The world is undergoing violent upheavals, one natural disaster after another. A slim chance, a slim hope exists through a wormhole in space, maybe. Can't wait for the next book!

Disappointed

I haven't read one of Jacques books for about 4 years because I've been disappointed by the endings ,the stories are great and lead up to something big happening and then like a damp squib the endings fail to go off, they seem to take the easy way out and you feel let down and I'm afraid this book went the same way!

Loved the story line. No spoilers so I’m not mentioning the plot. Ms Druga is obviously a prolific writer but I don’t understand how every book can have typos. It’s a really easy fix with a proofreading. Spell check won’t find them its things like boats instead of boots. A lot of people would love to volunteer to proofread I bet.

Earth changed

As more and stronger natural disasters strike earth plans are made for humanity to survive. While space vessels are being built to evacuate a portion of the population, hopefully to another planet, a small team of seven are sent through a wormhole to investigate a planet photographed by a NOAA satellite.

Great book

This is a masterpiece. Such imagination looking into the future. I enjoyed reading this book but it ended so fast. I was glued to it and read it too fast! I recommend reading this to all that love fiction and a great story. A great cast of characters also made the story believable.

Interesting concept and an interesting twist.
America-centric and read like a plan of a novel not the full realisation of one.
I still enjoyed this one as a quick read and look forward to the next book.
