A good book if you are getting into landscape photography. Scott covers much ground in a manner that is accessible, and full of humor. This is fun

Don't expect any in-depth treatment of the subject. I assume that this would be beyond the scope of the book.

Having said that, he does give a lot of useful tips, and these are scattered through the book.

So yes, go ahead. Read it. It's a fun read. If you are an instructor and want to teach someone the basics, then this is a valuable resource.
That is another reason to buy it! I am glad I did!

As with all of Scott's books, there are many tips and nuggets of info for anyone who is looking to better their landscape photography. I like that there is one tip per page with an example. That makes this an easy read. There are sections on HDR and long exposure photography as well. These are great tools to have in the toolbox to enhance your photography. This should be on any landscape photographer's shelf.

There's too much fluff especially at the start of the book where he really just wafles on about things that don't matter. It gets better as the book progresses but he doesn't really explain a lot of why we're doing what we're doing so now I know which settings to use to get photos exactly like his but I don't really know where to go from here to take other types of photos in other conditions.
It was a very helpful introduction and it's not too difficult to understand, definitely much better than a lot of the info online.
I wish it had been organised a bit better, like some things pop up at the start and then he goes back into it again later in the book but it could have gone on the earlier page, e.g. the two sections about the sun which could've just been one.

This was SO helpful! The chapter introductions were a lot of nothing (jokes that go on for a looooong time) but the actual information in the chapters was so easy even I could understand it (ha). I liked how the techniques were explained step by step, it was also explained WHY you do or don't want to do something, and there are pictures as well as gear recommendations (and what is and isn't worth spending extra money on). Honestly one of the most helpful books I've ever read. Only took me so long to read it because I was taking so many notes and going out to test out the new things I'd learned!

Excellent book than can quickly be turned into several checklists for a photographer. Scott is always clear and concise, except for his chapter intro’s. These are his trademark breaks from instruction and techie stuff. I was told by a photo instructor to read everything Scott writes. That has been good advice.

A very helpful book on landscape photography prep, tips, and overall action of creating beautiful landscape shots. I found the writing funny and also very thoughtful in the wording. Scott Kelby is obviously very studied and an extremely adequate teacher. I learned a lot and am excited to put my newfound knowledge to work in the following summer months!

Required reading!

With this as an introduction, I joined the kelbyone website and there are even more essential concepts and practical ideas to be had. He is easy to read and listen to which I can’t say for a lot of folks. A+

I purchased this book for my wife, who does not have a strong photography background but very much enjoys taking pictures---but, of course, I had to read it as well.

I was very disappointed in the book. The large majority of it simply teaches you to use your camera, landscape not being a big part of the equation. Much of the book could have been written for any type of photography.

What I found interesting:
* a few tips spread in different chapters, specifically discussing an idea that I was not aware of
* a couple of pages in the post-processing chapter (Chap. 8)
* A good part of Chap. 10, titled landscape recipes (unfortunately a short chapter).

On the other hand, I can see that the book caters to a different clientele, one that is new to more complex cameras and that needs basic technical education. If you are part of the target set, this book will be an excellent choice for you. If, on the other hand, you are an experienced amateur photographer looking to become a better landscape photographer, you will not find much in this book. I am giving 4 stars because I can see the book is useful to many---just not me.

A very informative book that had a lot of helpful tips and ideas. I was aware of some of the techniques, so everything wasn't new to me. I particularly liked the chapter on long exposures, as it is an area where I want to explore. This would be a good book for someone beginning to do landscape photography.
