Angel on Solid Ground

Rate this book
Rohan is a young man with a talent for art, but no interest in anything else. He would rather spend his days drawing in his notebooks than paying attention in class. Recently, he has been obsessed with drawing angels and one in particular is covering all his notes. As a result, his grades start to drop and he needs tutoring. Luck would have it that he finds Alec, another teenager who doesn't go to his school but is bright. He knows how to teach Rohan in a way that helps him. All the while, Rohan is drawn to him because Ally reminds him of an angel that he keeps drawing. As payment for tutoring, Ally agrees to sit in one of Rohan's painting sessions and allow him to paint his portrait.

Unbeknownst to Rohan, Ally is actually an angel who was cast out of the sky and had his wings clipped as punishment. Left on Earth to find his way around, he is desperate to find his way back home. He feels out of place in a world that he knows nothing about and he wants to prove that he is still capable of being an angel who saves others. However, things become complicated when he meets Rohan and they start to spend more time together. It gets even harder when Ally finds himself falling for this human being and now he is torn on what he really wants; to go back home or to stay with the one he has fallen in love with.

Wow. So many things to say about this one. Evidently, it's ok to be vague about what is going through your character's head if you repeat the vagueness enough. Repeat it over and over. Repeatedly. Restating the same thing time after time. Page after page. But don't bother actually explaining the "bad things" that happened to your character. No one really wants to know details. Just that bad things happened. And happened repeatedly. Yeah.
