THE WOLF'S CAPTURE:
It should have just been a simple vacation, away from everyone and everything to clear my head. But I soon realized I wasn’t alone.
He stalked me, hunted me. I should’ve run faster, tried harder. But the truth was I liked him chasing me.
Wolf was a ruthless man, his way of living barbaric. Now he had me in his off-the-grid cabin, what he deemed my new home. I was his new wife, would have his babies.
I was his irrevocably.
I shouldn’t have felt arousal. But I did.
He’s not going to let me escape ... but then again, maybe I don’t want to.
THE BEAR'S CAPTURE:
The solitude had always been my companion and I accepted it, embraced it. Living on my own with the forest as my backyard had always been good enough for me.
Until it no longer was.
The quiet could be loud, the loneliness a burden. I was tired of being on my own. I wanted a wife, needed a woman to call my own.
Who I wanted was Susie.
She was sweet and kind, innocent and soft in all the right places. She made this caveman part of me rise up and take control. The things I wanted to do to her would probably frighten her, scare her away for good.
I didn’t pretend to be a gentleman. I was brutal and savage in my way of living, but when I looked at her I felt something soften within me.
It was time to man up and tell her what I wanted, that she was all I thought about, all I needed in my life.
NOTE: Dive into two safe reads featuring over-the-top alpha heroes who will do whatever it takes to be with the women they love. Both stories are filled with happily ever afters and epilogue goodness. THESE ARE NOT PARANORMAL.
Author Jenika Snow is quickly becoming my favorite of the alpha driven, down-and-dirty novellas. And the newly released “The Capture Box Set” containing her rough and rumbly mountain men stories, “The Wolf’s Capture” and “The Bear’s Capture” are impeccable examples of why! These two tales of neighboring isolation craving loners, Wolf and Bear, both rough and raw in their own ways, both full of obsessive need and possessive desires to claim and keep the women they individually crave. And their women, Ruby and Susie, twenty-somethings, both a bit lost in life, searching for more meaning and purpose, drawn to the dominant nature that are the solitude searching men of their small town’s mountain. They are both pure, unadulterated specimens of Snow firmly in her literary elements.
Snow is the queen of the primal, possession driven, alpha mate. And her stories never disappoint.
Yes, both in this set are a bit far-fetched and fanciful. Yes, the almost stalker level possessiveness, and pure, alpha-male, level of mine-ness perhaps a bit much for some readers to handle. But for darker souls like me who crave a strong, unbending, and unapologetic specimen of masculinity. For readers who like characters not afraid of embracing their dominant and submissive sides, willing to negotiate and navigate a clear power exchange in order to fulfill desires wanted by both. These stories are perfection.
I personally preferred Wolf to Bear as Wolf’s story is most definitely edgier and more defiantly dominant than the other, which for me, was a bit of a disappointment. Bear seems almost tame in comparison. However, personal taste aside, both stories are great, quick reads, and were an absolute joy to pass a few hours with.
Wolf's Capture- Ruby just wanted to disconnect from the world for a little while. She needed to become one with nature. She had no connection to the outside world from her cabin. Wolf saw her coming and knew she had to be his and she would be.
This is BOOM right out the gate. Wolf wants Ruby. It’s like neither can live without the other. Think of Little Red Riding Hood meets a hot Wolf dressed like the Huntsman. The relationship is explosive. We also get sort of introduced to Bear who is next in this collection.
Bear's Capture- Susie has been in love with Bear since she first saw him but he doesn’t seem to notice her. Bear wants Susie as his but he is afraid that that will scare her away. Will these two ever say what they truly feel?
These two are drawn to each other but in the beginning keep their feelings hidden. Once they told each other how they felt, it was on. These two were as inseparable as Wolf and Ruby. Both books were hot and heavy and worth a read.

✔Both short stories were so hot. ✔Wolf hunted and saved Ruby. He took her to his cabin and never let her go. Instant attraction and sexy! ✔Bear and Susie loved one another but were both afraid to tell each other. Once it came out that they both harbored the same feeling is was pure physical from there on out. ✔HEA for both
Both of these stories were good. I wish there would have been a bit more interaction between Wolf and Ruby before they got together in A Wolf's Capture. Bear and Susie had better dialogue between them, but still I felt that there was something missing. The chemistry between the couples was hot though!
Both stories are as advertised...quick, steamy, over-the-top. Not much more to say, so if you like your men taciturn and isolated, and the women they crave directionless but for love...this is the duet for you.
I loved two short stories that were about Wolf, Bear, and their women. The stories had the right amount of heat and feels. If you want a good quick read, this is what a reader should be reaching for.
The description for these stories was accurate but doesn't hold a candle to the depth of the excellent writing, the descriptions, and visuals elicited. The characters are self aware, honest, and willing to, eventually go after what they want. A must read!! 💖😁
Another great story by Jenika both Wolf and Bear ultimate alphas who drip sexiness. Couldn't put the story down until completed. Loved the epilogue, thank you.
Wolf and Bear are fierce men who live off the grid and take care of the women they love. Alfa men at its finest with these two. Loved reading their stories.
Um. I think I'm going to have to take a break from this author. There are pages and pages of "she's mine", "she moaned" and other superfluous descriptions. That's a pretty common strategy from this author to pad books length and it's gotten old for me. Update: more than half of both books involve almost no conversation, just the characters thinking about what could happen. Be prepared for a SLOW read. 2nd Update: This book would make a great drinking game. Every time one of the characters says "Tell me how much you want me/it", you take a drink. Hello, drunk Sunday! I usually try to be much nicer in reviewing and I'm frustrated with myself that I'm breaking my own rules on this one so pretty sure that this will be my last update.
Be warned, this book is over the top with lustful mountain men who know exactly what, who and how they want, and get their soul mate. Loved the bonus epilogue. It just added a huge smile to the happy ending, which I love to read.
