Growly, Grumbly Perfection...
Author Jenika Snow is quickly becoming my favorite of the alpha driven, down-and-dirty novellas. And the newly released “The Capture Box Set” containing her rough and rumbly mountain men stories, “The Wolf’s Capture” and “The Bear’s Capture” are impeccable examples of why! These two tales of neighboring isolation craving loners, Wolf and Bear, both rough and raw in their own ways, both full of obsessive need and possessive desires to claim and keep the women they individually crave. And their women, Ruby and Susie, twenty-somethings, both a bit lost in life, searching for more meaning and purpose, drawn to the dominant nature that are the solitude searching men of their small town’s mountain. They are both pure, unadulterated specimens of Snow firmly in her literary elements.
Snow is the queen of the primal, possession driven, alpha mate. And her stories never disappoint.
Yes, both in this set are a bit far-fetched and fanciful. Yes, the almost stalker level possessiveness, and pure, alpha-male, level of mine-ness perhaps a bit much for some readers to handle. But for darker souls like me who crave a strong, unbending, and unapologetic specimen of masculinity. For readers who like characters not afraid of embracing their dominant and submissive sides, willing to negotiate and navigate a clear power exchange in order to fulfill desires wanted by both. These stories are perfection.
I personally preferred Wolf to Bear as Wolf’s story is most definitely edgier and more defiantly dominant than the other, which for me, was a bit of a disappointment. Bear seems almost tame in comparison. However, personal taste aside, both stories are great, quick reads, and were an absolute joy to pass a few hours with.
