This is the first novel I've read from Tunisian author Fawzi Mellah. The story is set in an unidentified north African country during post independence. A reporter follows leads stories which led him to a family living outside the city in remote places. The author depicts a story of people caught between post independence modernism looking at the future and ancient traditions nostalgic of the past.
