The Complete Avengers: The Full Story of Britain's Smash Crime-Fighting Team!

Rate this book
Since its first airing in 1961, The Avengers has become one of the most enduringly popular series in the history of television-reaching its height in the episodes where Patick Macnee starred as the impeccable John Steed opposite Diana Rigg's strong, sensual Mrs. Peel. The Avengers' world was always full of upper-class derring-do, a place of distinctly elegant high jinks-all portrayed with tongue firmly in cheek.

Now, television historian Dave Rogers has assembled into one volume the complete history of this long-running program, from the early episodes featuring Ian Hendry, through the glory days of Diana Rigg, to The New Avengers- and beyond. Drawing on extensive interviews with such Avengers cast members as Linda Thorson ("Tara King"), Patrick Newell ("Mother"), Honor Blackman ("Cathy Gale"), and, of course, Patrick Macnee-plus several of the show's writers-this volume

-An overview of the series
-A complete, show-by-show episode guide
-A comprehensive collectors' guide to Avengers memorabilia
-More than 200 photographs of England's classiest crime fighters
-And an introduction by Avengers producer Brian Clemens.

So kick back, uncork a bottle of vintage '28, and relive the dashing adventures of England's high-class heroes!

All the information you ever needed about the great British TV show.

You get to read about the early episodes that we hardly ever got to see in the USA, how it evolved and became the classic it is today.

A great episode guide, tons of insider facts and lots of photos of Mrs. Peel!

A splendid recount of the popular spy show of the 1960's.

Mr. Rogers reveals the back stories of the series creation, evolution, and care in development of its main character. The bulk of the book contains a synopsis of every episode in each season. These are well written, many include photos. They brought back fond memories of viewing them.

The book also covers the marketing of the show's products - from toys, books, records, and a stage play. There are also fine appendices of each season episodes completion and airing dates and the iconic vehicles drove by the characters.

This book is a must read for Avenger fans.

I honestly only read the section "The Immaculate Emma Peel" since those episodes are the only ones I know! A great book with information on all episodes and then some!

The Avengers. One of the most iconic British television series of the 1960s, staring the irrepressible Patrick Macnee as John Steed and most famously Diana Rigg as Emma Peel. This book is a mine of information and I thoroughly recommend it.
