Vale Valley, Season 1 #11

The Drummer's Heartbeat

Rate this book
Following his family’s advice, Grayson goes off to college to expand his horizons beyond his small hometown. Years later Grayson is ready to head back home after he's accomplished his goals, both socially and academically. The holidays are the perfect time to return home with a mission in mind. Grayson is ready to start the next stage of his life, a new business and the man he’s been lusting at from afar for years, sexy as hell Chance Knight.

Chance is a mechanic who owns Knights Auto Repair by day and the drummer for his local band Scott and the Night Chasers by night. He enjoys his life in Vale Valley, he has a thriving business, and friends the only thing missing in his life is a lover. With the holidays right around the corner, Chance envies the couples he sees around Vale Valley. It’s been a while since he’s had a warm body to cuddle with on the cold winter nights. After a night playing with his band ends with a surprise, a sexy little thing he can't get out of his mind.

Grayson makes a proposition to Chance for them to become lovers, does he say yes? Or does he walk away from the man that could be his heartbeat?

The Drummer's Heartbeat is the eleventh book in a multi-author series about Vale Valley, a small town open to everyone in need of love and a home. Each installment can be read as a standalone.

It contains way too many dirty jokes, plants with a mind of their own, mpreg, and more sweets than Willy Wonka's factory. Pull up a chair, grab your hot cocoa, and settle in for this sweet and spicy holiday read!

I am DNFing this at 6%. Clearly there was NO proofreader for this as there were multiple incorrect word usages (ie. loner instead of loaner) in the little bit I read. Add to that short truncated sentences and simply bad grammar made this unreadable for me. Looking at the reviews, clearly everyone else read a different book than I was reading. Since I am DNFing this therewill be no star rating as clearly everyone else rated it based solely on story and characters (which based on the tiny bit I read seemed pretty good). It's too bad cuz the story seemed like it could be good, but I can't read something that mimics fingernails on a chalkboard.

***** BDSM, Mpreg, shifters, humans, and a special magical Vale Valley.
Grayson, 25, a wolf/merman shifter, is back from college and opening his new business. He's beginning his life and wants his crush, Chance.
Chance, 45, human, owns his mechanic shop, and is a Grinch on the outside, but loves his job and his drummer gig in a band. He's well respected and loves the town, but is lonely. I love the older/younger.

Our two men have something in common, BDSM, and the Dom/sub relationship. Grayson wants to submit and be taken care of, and has had training. Chance needs a submissive who will bend to his will and be his lover. Together it's instant sizzle, kisses, ties, paddles, toys and the "Daddy/boy" kink. It's explained well and we see the scenes and excellent after care.

Other issues are pulling us in, with Chance being offered the new Mayor-ship opening. We have a couple of sour, jealous folks, but we also see happy times and some tough decisions. Our men love each other and Grayson knows Chance is his mate, but is scared that it will chase him away. Grayson underestimates Chance's strength.

Later, when the guys declare themselves and move ahead, there is big trouble with a violent encounter. With a mortal wound, they must act fast.

The epilogue is lovely and the romance is divine.
It's different than any other shifter tale I've read. I look forward to more stories in 2019, when we catch up with our other series couples.
ENJOY !

This was book 11 in the "Vale Valley" series and my favorite book that I have read in this series so far. Grayson Vale is ready to return home to be with his family and start his business he went away to college at the insistence of his family. Chance Knight has been in Vale Valley for twenty years he owns his own business he is a mechanic and he restores old cars he is also a drummer in a local band. Chance is also a Dom and is knows that it is time for him to settle down and find a sub. Grayson has had a crush on the older man since he was 16 years old so while out a club these two hook up and have some hot as hell sex when Chance wakes the next morning he finds a note from his hook-up without a name. When he gets invited to a party he finds out that the birthday boy was his hook-up. This was a really good read the mayor of Vale Valley Rosemary Vale wants Chance to become the next mayor Rosemary is a Alpha wolf and she is also Grayson's grandmother. It also turns out that Grayson is a sub and he wants Chance to be his Dom these two have some hot sex and they do something that I have never heard of "sounding" to me I would think that it hurt. Grayson gets a visit from a Dom that he hook-up with in the past Donald who is now a wolf shifter I really thought that he was a stalker turns out they became friends and he hook-up with one of his friends Quinn I really hope that those two get their own book. When Chance is attacked by a feral wolf Rosemary turns him after Quinn and Donald finds him. This was my first time reading this author this book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading more books in this series.

Wonderful Beginning

I enjoyed the chemistry between Grayson and Chance. Unlike most BDSM themed stories I’ve read, this one didn’t make my skin crawl. Everything was consensual. I had a feeling Chance was going to be changed. It just made sense. I would like to see how they keep up the BDSM lifestyle with a child.

This little short read had ALL my favorite kinks. Age gap, D/s dynamic and most of all Daddy kink. I hate that it had to be the second to the last book of the Vale Valley Winter series. This was one of the better ones. Great story.

This book was kinky as all hell. But it was also very lovely and I loved the not too quick pace the main characters fell in love.

Character breakdown;

Chance: I loved his dominant side loved, he was a great mix of alpha without being a douche. He was also funny and the way he handle Grayson's family was funny too.

Grayson: I thought he was just a little too needy for my liking. He wasn't annoying though far too eager to please. I loved the idea of him being half merman and half wolf that's awesome.

Book was great held my attention and it was satisfying to read.

3.5*

Maybe jumping into this series at part 11 wasn't the smartest idea. I did feel like I missed background for the several inhabitants and their connection to each other. But Vale seems to be a very interesting town, with very intriguing inhabitants.
Only wondering about one detail: if Chance is a human, how was he able to knot Grayson...

One of several Vale Valley books that paired a May - December couple. Their reasons for being together were very plausible, especially in this story. A young man who'd had a crush for several years on a sexy silver fox, finally has the chance to fulfill his secret desire - a fantastic one night stand. What more could he want? Oh so much more! Only there was no time to follow-up on more.

The Vale Valley Grinch had actually more people who loved him and whom he cared about that showed his heart was not Grinch teeny. But he was often seen as Grinch Grumpy. More than one friend said he needed to get laid, settle down, find an Omega - his Omega. There was a reason he was in Vale Valley after all. But he'd been there for over twenty years. One thing only a very few knew where his BDSM Dom preferences. It had proven impossible to find someone in the Valley that would commit to the BD lifestyle. Never in a million years would he expect the young honey who eagerly accompanied home and who left without revealing who he was. Chance had never swelled so long, been distracted ever by a mate one night stand.

When the two were intimate again it wasn't just the crash of cymbals - it was the 1812 Overture! This was an exciting read, but I hadn't anticipated the BDSM. So I'd like to give a little heads up to future readers. It's on the milder side, but definitely of importance to both main characters. A window is open to the Vale family. Mild references are made to characters & businesses in other Vale Valley books, but this still remains as a Standalone. Lack of communication is a central theme and living in a secret paranormal society has its excitement as well as its dangers.

It seems there's going to be a 12th book that may wrap up and intertwine the storylines from the 11 books who knows what to expect in Vale Valley besides some beautiful picturesque snowy scenery, happy birthdays, winter solstice runs, and Christmas miracles. What a wonderful magical place to be. I am so excited this is not the last book. And I can go back to read the couple books I mixed. I enjoyed these stories so much more than I expected. How silly when some of our best Mpreg writers had been hard at work creating their own version of life in Vale Valley.

Grayson is smart, driven and confident in all things. He has a business plan, a personal goal and some personal kinks. His personal goal is catching Chance, the drummer in the local band and the town grinch.

This is a hard book for me to rate. I felt like I was waiting, waiting and waiting for something to happen and everything is up to Chance. Hehe.  It is funny that Mr. Cranky pants is such a stable and driving force. Like glacier stable. Like, slow as a glacier and then one day just crashes and explodes and changes the world around them kinda stable.

There is some light BDSM, just a nibble, that ratchets up the smexy and helps explain Grayson's patience because Wow. Glacier! We are treated to a view of Gray's were side - loved that sex scene - and I appreciated the small town happenings and the close knit family experiences sprinkled throughout. This is a May-Dec story with a whole lot of old fashioned romance. There is a smidgen of drama, but not in a angsty way. Read for the slow burn and savor the romance.

While this wasn't my favorite story from this wonderful series, it still added a lot to the whole community feel of the residents of Vale Valley! Were the grammatical errors annoying as hell? YES, but typos, missing words or extra words do not a bad story make... this falls under the heading of author talent and this author's writing style works well for me! Truth be told, I still have unanswered questions and hopefully, I will get more answers in the near future when the "extra" book comes out in a few days!

On an "it's me, not you" issue... the use of the word "boy" is a pet peeve of mine that I just can't let go! Three times in one sentence? *headdesk* LOL!!! I just tried to ignore the use of the word or replaced it in my mind with Grayson's name! I don't have a problem with a Daddy/boy relationship... I just have limits when it comes to overly used words of affection... boy, lover, my omega, my alpha, my... you get the point! ;D

Recommended!

This book was an excellent penultimate addition to the Vale Valley Christmas series. I greatly enjoyed getting to know the characters of Chance and Grayson, who we had only seen peeks of in a few of the other Vale Valley books. Their love story is sweet and steamy, with a healthy (and hot) dose of kink. Definitely a great book to read all cozied up while it's cold out, much like the others. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading about mates, shifters, and getting steamy in the holiday season.

Audio Edition

Love the relationship between Grayson Vale (Boy) and Chance Knight (Daddy). They chemistry fit together like peas in a pod.
When the Dom, who wanted Grayson to submit to him showed in Vale Valley, I thought he was up to no good. he was there to cause trouble....I was surprised to see how thing turned out.

Overall it was a great listen for my first Listen of the Vale Valley Series...
Great storyline from the author Giovanna Reaves and fabulous audio from John Solo the Narrator.

I loved this story and would have considered it 5 stars if not for all the grammar errors. It will be interesting to see what carries over to the next season since each author had a slightly different take on Vale Valley and it's residents. I am still looking forward to the next set of stories. I am bummed since there does not seem to be any way to get the final book that had all the short stories about this series.

So good!

This was the perfect cap to the individual stories of the perfect Christmas in Vale Valley!Chance and Grayson are a dynamic, sweet, and loveable whirlwind, and I adored their story. Its the perfect read for those who are into omegaverse as well as an accurate and healthy depiction of a B/s relationship. Very well done!

This is one of my favorite books from the series. I loved Chance and Greyson. They were very sexy. I love Daddy Kink so I was really excited for this book. It didn't disappoint. I liked that Greyson knew what he wanted and went after it and I loved that Chance took the time to develop a real relationship with him rather than just jumping into bed.

Rosemary Vale was just as much fun as she's been in the other books and Greyson's family was a trip. I had a lot of fun reading this book and I can't wait to read the rest of their story in A Bundle of Joy.

An enchanting series about a magical town. Which all the supernatural characters you could want add in some steamy sex, a baby and a bad guy and you have the makings of a fun and quirky series. Read them all in any order.

What a mess

Seriously a mess in grammar. The others of this series had mistakes here and there, but this one had them on every page. I wish I could've enjoyed this, but I kept having to rethink each sentence.

WOW!! So Good!!

Well written story and well developed characters! Grayson is the Mayor's grandson and the sheriff's son. Made it a bit hard to date. But when he went away for college, then all bets were off!

Beware, if you listen to this on Hoopla the book ends in chapter 16. I've reported it so hopefully they will get it fixed. If the version that you borrow says it's 4 hours and 12 minutes you won't get the whole book, you'll miss the last hour.

Rounded up from a 2.5⭐
So like with most series with multiple authors, this one suffers from different skill levels. Unfortunately Reaves happens to be on the lower end. While the story could have been interesting, the book suffers from a lack of editing.
I just didn’t feel the chemistry build up between Grayson and Chance, so it was hard for me to get into the story.

This reminded me a bit of vino and veritas where there are multiple authors writing about one town. This is my fist book of the series and I should probably go back and start at one. This had a lot going on - age gap, dom/sub relationship, daddy kink.

I loved the creative idea of this magical village that collect all kinds of supernatural beings, and a few humans. But the story rambled, repeating knowledge once given. It did need some editing as well. Overall, the romance was fluffy sweet. Not a bad read, just OK.

I still love the series. I love the direct approach and just a bit of angst and the different characters are throughout the series. Hot hot hot!!
