Smooth Moves is the second instament from the Veteran Movers series, following the story of Cash and Jordan. Though, I have not read the first book, it was easy to get to know the roster of characters.

Cash is a former Marine hunky loud mouth. He has very low self esteem even with a big heart. He is also very brash, has a loud sense of humor and a big appetite to match.

Jordan is his co-worker, whom he cheekily calls Little Army. She is strong willed with a no nonsense attitude. She is also quite sweet. They feel instant attraction but also hindered by the fact that Cash, is technically Jordan's boss as part-owner of Vets on the Go!, their moving business.

Jordan now also has the responsibility to take care of her little brother Rafi and try to correct his wild rebel ways.

This book is a little lengthy compared to my other recent reads but it gives you a full scope of everybody's story. Fun filled with bits of angst, lots of steamy scenes and a good dose of love. Truly an entertaining read.

This was a fun read that had everything I enjoy in a book and then some. Jordan and Cash were so friggin’ cute together. They are both snarky and on point when it comes to their banter, something that I love not only in my books, but in real life. I enjoy mature humor and this had it in abundance while allowing the romance, drama and conflict to still reign.

I loved how organic the relationship between Jordan and Cash developed. They didn’t play games and they were both up front about being with each other.

description

I loved that so much of this story is them as a couple, even proclaiming themselves as a couple. They were just so darn adorable! Everything from her poking him in the chest to him thinking she was perfect, as she wrestled and contained someone to the ground, made me love them more.

Cash is the type of hero I love. He’s a big, burly, bear of a man who tends to end up in fights but inside he’s a soft marshmallow. With a wounded soul from a childhood of being told he was bad as well as being neglected, to a relationship that only solidified his belief in his childhood teachings, he finds it impossible to believe anyone could love anything about him. I gotta say, my heart broke for him several times throughout this story.

”Somehow, someway, he had to fool her into thinking he was more than he seemed. Because, selfish as it was, he wanted Jordan in his life. And maybe, just maybe, if he worked hard at it, he could be the guy she needed.”

Jordan was an exceptional heroine! Ex-army, she was one tough lady that could totally hold her own among a group of other ex-military guys. While she could totally kick tail, she was also soft and vulnerable which made for a wonderful combination. And holy heck, when she let it rip with Cash, she was fierce and I loved watching her set him straight.

”Her toned belly had a gentle curve, her a—firm and rounded, the perfect woman. Not afraid to be strong or feminine.
He wanted to tell her that. That he saw the power inside her and respected the f--- out of her for it.”

description

This has a host of amusing moments that had me grinning, then laughing throughout its entirety. There are so many fun characters that add to the story rather than act as filler. The rapport between these individuals was as much fun to watch as the romance taking place within their midst and left me wanting more from all of them.

I rarely do rereads but this is one I’ll definitely be hitting again!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book provided by NetGalley and Sourcebooks. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

In the second book of the Movin’ On series by Marie Harte, we have another lighthearted couple with Cash and Jordan. The thing about these books that I love is that they often have a great sexy and fun vibe to it. Harte puts a lot of effort in creating a good bond between all the characters in the series whether they are the main couple or secondary characters.

With that being said, it’s got great banter and sexiness, but there are times when I do think that it can go on for too long. For example, the beginning of the book deals a lot between the other characters with the main couple. But it isn’t until a little bit later when the hero and heroine’s interactions start. So just keep in mind that there are going to be some leisurely delays here and there which I think are in place just for humor and further character development.

I am definitely looking forward to the next book in the series. I can’t wait to see what happens next!

This was such a fun book for me. I know that Cash is a hero that not everyone is going to love because he can come off as obnoxious, but I never felt that way about him when we got to know him in book 1.

To me Cash is this big teddy bear that likes to poke other bears to get them riled up. I actually had fun with his character... maybe because I'm kind of like him. I enjoy that friendly fire and camaraderie you can have with someone who truly knows your not being mean, just playful.

Cash was also a very protective guy. He always jumped into helping someone in a bad situation even if it was dangerous. The poor guy got beat on the regular. I also can not deny how hot he was whenever we got to see him lusting after Jordan. He could get growly and very jealous. I loved it.

Jordan is another character that some may think is too aggressive at times. What I saw was a woman who wanted to be strong and independent an yet still be seen as a woman. I liked that she could kick some serious butt and take names.

Jordan and Cash were perfectly compatible and I got such a kick out of their story. I do think most readers could read this as a standalone even though we meet these two in book 1. Of course you may be more invested in them if you got to see them from the beginning.

I'm really looking forward to more in this series. There are so many good side characters that really add to the enjoyment of this series. I can't decide if I want Evan or Smith's story next. Either way, I'll be happy!

Now that’s what I’m talking about! The first book in Marie Harte’s Movin’ On series was a bit disjointed, but Smooth Moves is everything I’ve come to expect from this author. I loved the sexy banter, the fact that both the hero and heroine weren’t game players, the intensity of their attraction, and the bit of conflict that kept this story interesting without overshadowing the romance.

Cash was the perfect type of hero, he is rough and gruff on the outside, has a tendency to get caught up in the middle of fight protecting the underdog, but underneath he has a heart of gold. He has a hard time believing in his self worth stemming from his childhood and as things he never understood were slowly revealed during this book, my heart broke for him. I was just so happy Jordan was there to help him pick up the pieces.

I love heroines like Jordan, tough, smart, and more than capable of taking care of herself and those she loves and while she also has some baggage than makes her vulnerable, she’s not afraid to kick a$$ and take names especially with the team of Vets she works with.

When Jordan needs help with her teenage brother she turns to Cash and he asks her for help cleaning out his deceased mother’s house they end up spending time together that easily turns into more. I loved the easiness between them and the fact that they didn’t hold back from one another. They were intuitive about one another always seeming to know how to help one another when the need arose. I liked that Cash understood and appreciate that Jordan could take care of herself, but would be there for backup if she needed him.

Great character development, a strong plot, and a mostly drama free romance made Smooth Moves a completely engaging story that was hard to put down.

Cash Griffith is an ex-marine with a hot temper. As a matter of fact, it was due to a display of his temper that helped get his brother's moving business off the ground. Cash works hard on maintaining peace, but there is someone that always ruffles his feathers, Jordan Fleming, an employee of their moving company. Cash makes it no secret that he desires Jordan, a strong ex-Army MP.

However, Jordan's hands are quite full caring for her brother Rafi. His parents sent him to her while he attends summer school and he is not making it easy. Meanwhile, although she is good at her job as a mover, she wants to do more with her life. Putting Cash off is becoming a challenge.

As things progress, however, both Cash and Jordan realize that they can actually help each other with practical things, so a truce a drawn. This leads to much more and their fates just might be changed forever.

I really enjoyed this book by Marie Harte. It is the second in a new series and I had just read the first one, The Whole Package. So, I knew some of the challenges facing Cash and he had already wormed his way into my heart. I loved the conflicts this book presented as well. It is a nice addition to the series, and the third book Handle with Care, was a delightful read as well.

Smooth Moves is the second book of the Veteran Movers series, this time featuring Jordan and Cash. Their romantic tension is palpable and it's hard not to be entertained by their flirty banter. There's always a fun side to romance stories such as these and I'm so glad that the characters support the whole dynamic. The only downside I found is it goes on too long on some parts that I can't fully enjoy the story without skipping over them and getting to the good parts.

What started off as a simple physical attraction led to something more, although they both try so hard to deny their feelings for each other. Jordan and Cash is a great couple. They have quite the chemistry to start off with an intense feeling for each other. There's so much to be desired with couples like them.

Looking forward to the next book in the series!

I'm still not sure how I feel about this story. It started off really good. A female Army MP, a Marine, a moving company, and family issues should have been a great angsty read. When that is not what we got. Yes, all those things were included but then the story information started to repeat itself then at 70% new information was introduced...out of the blue. The last 30% felt like a different story. So yeah, just MEH.

This specific video review will be included in the June 2019 wrap-up.

Smooth Moves is the second book in Marie Harte's series, Veteran Movers. If you haven't read the first book, no worries this can be read as a stand alone, I haven't and it didn't take away from how much I enjoyed it. The characters made this book. I couldn't get enough of the sarcasm and ball busting between them. I found myself chuckling out loud throughout the whole book.

"Wait. You just had your way with me, and now you're kicking me out? Damn, Jordan. That's cold."

I love a grumpy hero and Cash Griffith fit that role perfectly. He's beefy, rough around the edges, and a bit of a neanderthal but he's a marshmallow on the inside. He is protective and takes care of those he cares for. He grew up being treated worthless by his parents, so he doesn't think he's worthy of Jordan which broke my heart. It also really aggravated me when everyone would make fun of the fact that he's not very smart, it seemed a bit excessive and unnecessary. Jordan is seriously bad a**, sarcastic, she can defend herself and an overall kind and caring person. Together the sexual chemistry was hot and heavy. It was made even better by the fact that they brought their jokes and sarcasm into the bedroom. I loved how they supported and believed in each other, especially when they were feeling unworthy.

"Of course I know why you love me. I'm Little Army, and I conquered Mount Griffith."

This was my first Marie Harte book but it will definitely not be my last. I am especially looking forward to more books in the Veteran Movers series.

Thanks to Jordan aka "Little Army", brash former Marine Cash redeems himself after his obnoxious debut in book 1, The Whole Package. After being abused by his mother, and cheated on by a former girlfriend, it was lovely to see how much Cash treasured Jordan.
“Just…don’t ignore me and act like I don’t exist, okay?”

He’d spent a childhood with a woman who’d treated him that way, had almost married another who’d acted no better. It would kill him for Jordan to treat him like he didn’t matter, even in pretend.
Even with Cash trying to diss Jordan about being in the army, his appreciation of Jordan as a strong, capable woman rang so beautifully. Cash showed her over and over that he would always have her back. Like when Cash overheard Jordan's landlord trying to shake her down for sex:
She hadn’t realized he’d been out there. She figured he would have busted down the door the moment he’d heard her in trouble. That he hadn’t…

“Long enough,” he growled. “That fucking asshole.”

“But you let me handle it.” So not the way Cash normally did business. He bashed heads in then tried to settle things down after.

He shrugged. “You were an MP. You know your shit.”

She’d always wanted to be treated like an equal yet still like a woman.
Cash may not always know the right thing to say or do but he'll always be ready to back Jordan. That applied to his family, even with the weird family secrets floating around.

I wasn't crazy about the family secret carried over from Reed's book. Cash and his brother Reed acknowledge the secret but never address it, which was a huge let down. I know it is supposed to be a shiny lure for Book #3 but that just felt cheap.

Smooth Moves was such an enjoyable and fun story. When I saw that Marie Harte was releasing another book I was ecstatic. Her writing is always so much fun and her romance scenes and relationship building is simply fantastic. She definitely did not disappoint with her latest installment in the Veteran Movers Series.

Before I get too far into this review I will say this book while number two in the Veteran Movers Series, Smooth Moves can be read as a standalone.

Smooth Moves centers around Jordan and Cash, both ex-military trying to maneuver their way around civilian life. Cash and his brother, Reid started a moving company for Cash and other veterans to find a job after they left the military. Jordan and Cash have immediate chemistry, which is made obvious pretty much right off the bat in the first chapter when Cash is checking out Jordan's...um assets.

Jordan's struggled her whole life to fit somewhere. The only place she's felt whole was in the Army and now with Cash and his moving crew. She's currently trying to take care of her teenage brother since her parents have given up. When things become more difficult she asks Cash for his help and he agrees on the condition that she helps him clean out his mother's house.

Cash had a rough childhood even before getting kicked out of his home at 16. His parents never cared for him and now he's shocked to his core when his mother left their old home to Cash instead of the favorite brother, Reid. Now it's Cash's job to clean out the house and figure out what he wants to do with it. Except cleaning out the house is bringing back all those words and feelings Cash felt before he became a Marine.

Smooth Moves is such a great story. I loved how when Cash and Jordan got together it was magical and all kinds of sexy. The sexy times scenes were beyond yummy. I was always excited to read about what they would do next and where. Marie Harte had such a great balance between Jordan and Cash's relationship and their lives outside of each other. The world felt real and so did their relationship.

Smooth Moves is a definite must read! Dual POV with a good balance between Cash and Jordan. We also get some POV's from Jordan's brother Rafi and Cash's brother Reid. The pacing was fabulous and the characters were enjoyable and relatable.

Oh how I loved Jordan and Cash!!

I had a hard time getting through book one (I think it was just information overload with it being book one and trying to establish all the characters) but book two I absolutely loved and Jordan and Cash were perfect for each other!

Cash was intense yet charming when it came to Jordan. He just couldn't let his feelings slide. Feelings that he never thought he would have again. Jordan was a tough cookie and just the right amount of sarcastic and sweet when it came to Cash.

Their inner strength and perseverance with each other was sexy as hell. They both have some family drama and loved how they supported each other in their own ways.

Great read and can't wait for the rest of the series!!

Oh my, I loved this story of the Vets on the Go. Cash had me intrigued in book one, but now he is my favorite guy. Rough around the edges, but a teddy-bear inside. I just knew he and Jordan would make a good pair. They each had the cutting wit and tough-guy persona that sparked between them. I was actually surprised to like Jordan as much as I did. Their romance was sweet with a huge dose of sexy thrown in….and I loved it. One of my favorite parts of this series is the camaraderie between the co-workers and family members. It just works and makes me want to apply for a job there. The dialogue is smooth, the romance is touching, and the group dynamic is nicely written. It ticked all my boxes.

This is the second of three books. I did not read the first book but I feel that I didn't really miss anything by not reading it. So Smooth Moves can be a stand alone.

This book follows Cash, a former marine, and Jordan, formally in the army. They work together at Vets on the Go! a moving company that Cash and his brother own. They flirt a little at first but start realizing their attraction for one another when Jordan invites Cash over for dinner to have him talk with her younger brother, who is a typical teenager making bad decisions and hanging out with the wrong crowd.

It's easy to see why Jordan and Cash fall for each other. Cash is a big, strong guy who would do anything for the people he cares about. Jordan is a tough and strong willed woman who doesn't take crap from anyone. They are both stubborn and can be difficult at times, but they keep coming back to each other.

Smooth Moves is an easy, fun read that is well written and I enjoyed the story. I don't think this book brought anything new to the table but I think a lot of readers will like it.

Marie Harte has won a new fan with her Veteran Movers series. These are sweet and funny, get the military information right, and feature richly crafted secondary characters. The only reason I'm not rating this higher is that my favorite parts of the books are not the romantic ones. The interactions with all the movers, the brothers and their cousin (owners of the business), and the families of each of the characters are the most enjoyable parts of the books for me. I've now read all three out so far, and I highly recommend them. Several frayed threads are left dangling, so I'm hoping this series continues.

Smooth Moves is the second book in the Veteran Movers series and while it can be read standalone I think you will enjoy this book much more if you really get to know Cash and Jordan in the first book, The Whole Package. Cash and Jordan are quite the pair. Between them is a ton of sass, snark, and sizzling chemistry that seems to throw Cash off his game. This is the story of how their relationship moves from enemies to friends to lovers and it's one wild and sexy ride that was so much fun to read. I'd definitely recommend this book to everyone.

I couldn’t wait to read more about Cash! I fell for him since the beginning of this series. So I was happy to learn more about him. I really felt for him at times. So I was glad Cash and Jordan got along. Jordan was awesome. They both definitely knew which buttons to push. So they had this great relationship with one another. I really enjoyed getting to see everything about their relationship. The ending was perfect. ❤️

There are moments within a Marie Harte novel where it becomes hard to tell who the alpha is. Smooth Moves has a number of those moments. Cash and Jordan butt heads at every turn. It's an uphill battle to romance, but the climb is full of seductive foreplay. There's always a new twist to their story, but the culmination is as explosive as their courtship is tempting.

I liked this one, thought Cash and Jordan were cute together. I liked how both shared how the military let them down and how they struggled after getting out when they had planned to stay there for life. Their other issues with their family came into play too, so it was nice that they could depend on each other. I smiled at the ending, it was perfect for them.

I had been eagerly awaiting Cash and Jordan's story and it did not disappoint. I wanted to just hug him so tight and take away his pain, but it was even better to see Jordan love him so much and help him through everything. This book also showed some great brotherly love, and I cannot wait for even more from this group of veterans!

Cash had his five minutes of fame when he was caught on tape stopping a robbery, but he’d prefer to stay out of the spotlight and work with his brother in their moving company. He enjoys the physical work and gets along well with his coworkers, all retired military. They tease and joke, rehash the latest episode of their favorite reality TV show, and tough but tiny Jordan keeps them all in line.

After reading the first book in this series I was in love with all the characters in the Vets To Go! family. Their trash taking about military branches, teasing, joking and prank pulling makes for a lively read while giving a strong sense of camaraderie and community. I also appreciate the reminder of the struggles our service members face reintegrating into civilian life.

Jordan is an admirable heroine, trying to find her place in the world while taking care of her struggling teenage brother. She's strong and determined and will do anything for those she loves. Cash comes across as a loose cannon, and he's definitely a tough guy, but it hides a squishy heart. The degree of negativity he had towards himself was a drawback for me, however. I understand what drove that for him, but it moved beyond vulnerable and endearing and ended up weakening his character for me. In the overall story, it was a minor issue, and I’m still invested in this series. I’m definitely looking forward to Evan's story, and if you like military heroes, you’ll love all of the guys in the Veteran Movers Series.

About the book: Release Date May 28, 2019

Ex-Marine Cash Griffith is a beacon for trouble. Working for the family moving company, he does his best to keep a low profile, but he can’t help finishing a fight someone else starts. There’s one person at work who annoys and baffles him. But if he even thought about taking her on, she’d put him down. Hard. Which is a real problem, because Cash wants nothing more than to tangle with sexy Jordan Fleming.

The ex-Army MP has her hands full with her new job and her rebellious teenage brother. Getting him through summer school is a chore. Figuring out what to do with her life now that she’s a civilian is disheartening. But one thing she lives for—doing battle with the obnoxious, arrogant, incredibly hot Marine at work.

Their battles turn into true camaraderie, then into something more. Helping each other out with family problems, Cash and Jordan learn to trust each other. One kiss leads to another, and friendship starts turning to love. But when dangerous secrets come to light, their bond will either break or strengthen into a future they both deserve.

REVIEW: SMOOTH MOVES is the second instalment in Marie Harte’s contemporary, adult VETERAN MOVERS erotic, romance series focusing on the men and women who work for Vets on the Go!-a moving company established to help former servicemen. This is thirty-six year old, ex-Marine and co-owner of Vets on the Go, Cash Griffith, and thirty year old ex-Army MP Jordan Fleming’s story line. SMOOTH MOVES can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalment is revealed where necessary. Ex-marine Gunnery Sergeant Cash Griffith is a protector who's always the first in line to offer help. He also is impulsive, brash and full of bluster hiding his wounded heart. Cash is co-owner with his brother Reid of a moving company to help former military so they could get lives together. Cash's father hated him from his 7th birthday and no one knew why. Cash finally left home joining the marines after being abused by his dad.

Ex-army MP Jordan Heming is a female Dudley-Do-Right starting over and trying to help her teen brother Raphael, Rafi, from landing in a heap of trouble. She is one of the crew of the moving company. Jordan has a younger full sister, Leanne, and Rafi is her 15 year old half-brother. Rafi is having trouble in school and his parents are using tough love to try to get him to straighten up and do better in school. Jordan has taken him in at her apartment during summer school to see if she can help him. Otherwise in the fall their parents will ship him off to military school all the way across the country. She strikes a deal with Cash, he'll talk to Rafi and she'll help him pack up his mom's house full of bad memories. As they spend together they begin to fight the chemistry between them since technically he's her boss at work.

I love Marie's stories. She takes everyday situations, fills them with wonderful complicated people with real problems. Her stories take us on a journey to healing and love. I've been able to see behind the curtain of so many people to see what drives them, makes them tick. I've experienced so many other "peoples" personalities and come to understand the why of some behaviors. Some of the things she deals with in this story are rejection, abuse, neglect, depression, hidden secrets and dyslexia. We find with her stories that seeking to help each other and deal with issues is the path to acceptance of self worth and love for others.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I loved this latest book by Marie Harte. She continues her story about the men and women who work for the moving company Vets on the Go! Her story of heart and romance is a sure crowd pleaser.
Cash Griffith may be a former Marine, but now he works with his brother for the moving company they started. Cash knows that he carries a lot of baggage from the crappy childhood he had and his surly attitude can be a bit much. He likes the work that he is doing and it feels good to be part of a team. When a new employee joins the movers, Cash finds himself more intrigued by her than he should be. He has to figure out what to do with the attraction while dealing with his mother’s recent death and all he drama that stirred up for him.
Jordan Fleming left the Army under less than ideal circumstances. Sticking up for a friend left her feeling betrayed by those she counted on. Now she has to figure out how to adjust to life as a civilian while helping her younger brother, Rafael, deal with his issues with high school. Finding a job with Vets on the Go! was a perfect fit for the moment while Jordan figures out what to do next. She seems to get along with all of the other movers. Her attraction to Cash, however, does need to be dealt with.
I love the interactions between Cash and Jordan. Yes, they are both tough ex-military, but they have a softer side as well. They are a lot alike which increases their attraction to one another. Neither of them are good at explaining feelings and they both have baggage from their parents. They have to figure out who they are to each other and how they can help each other deal with whatever comes up.
I really like this series. This book is the second in the series, but you don’t need to have read the first to follow along with what is going on. I am not sure where Ms. Harte will head next in this series. There are so many amazing characters from Evan, Cash’s cousin, to any of the men of the moving company.

So like the last book, this one was part good, part not so good. I loved the idea of Cash falling for Jordan because he was such a beast, but she was able to tame him. Sort of. I loved how he was there for both her and her little brother. But one thing I really dislike about these books are the characters. They all have such chips on their shoulders and tend to hate people for no reason. Like in the first book. Naomi's extreme insecurities about her siblings turned out to be largely unfounded and made her look pretty petty. In this book, Cash was very immature about Reid falling for Naomi and feeling like Reid was leaving him for Naomi. Jordan also had her insecurities, especially with her sister. And while I tried to be on Jordan's side, she really was just flat out needlessly rude to her sister's fiance. She also had some preconceived notions of Naomi before the little double date. The insecurities made Cash and Jordan annoying characters and it was hard to fully like them. And like I mentioned in a status update earlier, this author tends to drag down the characters to prop up the others. In this book, Reid was bashed a lot for no good reason other than making Cash seem the hero in his own book. I didn't like that.

So the thing that will really keep you coming back is the underlying story that's tying all these books and characters together. The mystery of Cash and his parentage is really interesting. Although, sidebar .... I really dislike Smith. I know we're going to get some sort of attempt at justifying why he's awful and surly and rude, but by the time his book rolls around, I'm not even going to care. But that's for a later discussion.

Overall, these books are entertaining enough. But the characters aren't the best. But sometimes they are. It's a very up/down/roller coaster of emotions they take me through. Sometimes I love them, sometimes I hate them. But the storyline has hooked me and I'm interested to see how it all works out in the end.

Two brothers Reid and Cash, managing Vets On The Go, employed military and provided exceptional services for the local moving needs of Seattle’s citizens. The first had found the one and the second was having too much fun arguing with the sexy military, Jordan who was definitely pushing his buttons like no one else. But what if the real thing was in front of him?

I appreciated their story about people who trying to adjust to civil life and keeping their business in the family. Everyone who worked for them became as well family. A range of individuals from a variety backgrounds.

The chemistry between Cash and Jordan was sinfully hot and the back and forth was deliciously charming and refreshing. There was no games, just the possibility of something more and real, beneath the surface, seeing all the things that one could see, the scars and deep wounds and always supporting the other, with best interest at hearts even if sometimes it could lead to some point of conflicts resulting from their actions.

Anyway, ‘Smooth Moves’ was an actually emotional read with a quirky sense of humor and characters who created such a great heartfelt story.

I had a spot for families stories and it worked smoothly, interesting so I couldn’t wait to read on.
