“This was the best £5 I’ve ever spent. We purchased this from the author at Knebworth Christmas Fayre. For everyday in Advent you get to read a chapter and the tears that came when my daughter knew we had read the last page because we enjoyed this book so much. 1000% can’t recommend it enough and it was lovely snuggling down each night to find out what happens next. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did. Thank you for a wonder book.” (Instagram)

Hey,

Escape reality! Enjoy magical countdown adventures for all ages about Christmas, Halloween and saving the planet. Stories ripe with original hand-drawn illustrations, stop-motion videos and FREE gifts - a unique online Advent calendar and bookmarks.

I'm especially thrilled that 'Edward and the Christmas Grumps' is a recommended festive read by LoveReading4Kids, "A wonderfully warm and magical ending. A true Christmas story." And endorsed by Kirkus Reviews as, "A charming, magical tale about preserving the holiday spirit." It's also a Mom's Choice Gold Award winner in the USA.

I do love a bit of escapism, as reflected in my creations. My profile image shows me dressed as Belle, my favourite fairy-tale character, engulfed in a sparkling stardust aura. I sometimes dress as an elf too, when I run events promoting my Christmas story. Elves are sublime creators, instinctively imagining and conjuring up glorious gifts for young and old alike. I, too, strive to create deep, meaningful and ultimately joyful delights through my words and art. So, I describe myself as a creationist.

Google defines a creationist as someone who believes that the universe and all living things within it come from acts of divine creation. Well, I certainly believe there’s much more to the world than we’re able to experience with our five senses. Perhaps we have an inner knowledge or instinct that transcends us? It is this that I explore in my imaginings, all born of mystery and wonder. I marvel at the idea of hidden worlds, just out of reach, but tantalisingly close, and at the concept that the Earth itself has a spirit – Mother Earth or Gaia!

If, like me, you are curious and have a head full of questions about life, dreams, magic and mysticism then my creations are for you. It’s all connected. It’s all real.

Chrissie

Absolutely loved this book. It was full of adventures, fantasy and fun all about Christmas. The writing style of the author is inspiring, which made me feel like I was one of the characters. The vivid descriptions were perfectly written, which left you wondering and anticipating what was going to happen next. The book includes well known nursery rhymes and Christmas carols that I loved as a child. I would thoroughly and sincerely recommend this book for children and adults who ‘still believe’. It took me back to my childhood days and reminded me of the wonderful Christmases I had experienced as I was growing up.

A perfect book for this holiday season! Dive into a magical adventure, and see what happens when Christmas is about to be cancelled. The story is suitable for both children and adults, and the cleverly-design of chapters as doors to an Advent calendar adds to the delight of the whole reading experience.
I found this story to be scrumptious from beginning to end. The author recommended her readers to “snuggle down and read a door a day up to Christmas” but I couldn’t wait. I just wanted to know how it ended, and if Edward would find his love for Christmas again! Of course, you will have to read the book as well to see the wonderful turn of events leading to a very pleasant finale.
Now, a bit about the story itself, don’t worry, without spoilers. Edward is a little boy who has lost that bit of magic making you feel all gooey inside during the holiday season. But, with the help of his bigger sister, Jill, and a whole array of other delightful and relatable characters, he will embark on an amazing adventure. An enchanted Advent calendar, housing one-of-a-kind gifts, will be the turning point in their lives.
Can the two children save Christmas? Most importantly, can they triumph against General Grump and the nasty grumps? I invite you to read and see what happens for yourself. The story line is great and packed with action, and I found myself enjoying the book thoroughly, despite being an adult. It’s a wonderful read for the holidays, and it does send a powerful message. Even if you lose your Christmas spirit, there are always ways to get it back.
From Edward’s teddy bear to the ever-confusing Aphrodite, I found all the characters in the book to be lovely and so skillfully-created. The book comes with a free digital Advent calendar and a lot of other goodies on the author’s website, so you definitely have to check it out.

The perfect read for this holiday season, a wonderful book about the magic of Christmas and how you can never really lose it. Delightful characters engage in all sorts of adventures, taking you to the magical kingdom of Santartica and back. Looking for a book to put under the tree for your young reader? You’ve found it!

What happened when Santa is missing, and Christmas is about to cancel. Sounds weird?
Get ready for fun and adventurous read with Edward and Jill.
This book comes as a surprise for me, and it turned out so good. This 300 page has all the possible ingredients for a perfect Christmas treat.
This is such an amazing Christmas read for kids above 7 years, and Chrissie created a whole lot of magic with the wonderful Christmas characters that make this book an unputdownable read for me.
When children dream of Christmas, it’s usually about the wonderful things like Santa, Rudolph, and his elves. Edward does not like Christmas. This is really surprising, but when you finished this book, you got to know why?
This Story is about Edward, an 8-year-old boy, and his sister Jill both lost their way in the wood. They found a cottage in the wood, and its owner Aphrodite already waited for them. Aphrodite also told them about Archie's magical Advent calendar that has 30 doors, and each door stores a gift for them. To win these they'll need a lot of courage, skill, brains, and a lot of good fortune too.

Can they use these gifts wisely and save Christmas from being canceled forever? Join Edward and Jill on their exciting adventure in the kingdom of Antarctica. I just loved the way How author narrated this story that created a mystery and suspense throughout, and make the reader curious about what will going to happen next. I just loved the way how Edward and his family celebrated Christmas with his father.
This book is a perfect Christmas gift for children, and it teaches them to believe in magic and believe in themselves too.
Hand-drawn illustrations and easy language make this book more interesting and enjoyable.
This book is a perfect read for 7+ kids.

This was such a santabulous festive fun read which you & your family will fall in love with!

I enjoyed every minute of reading it & I'm grateful to Chrissie for sending me my signed copy & giving me the opportunity to read it.

Chrissie has illustrated the book herself & with her visual descriptions throughout the book, if I closed my eyes I imagined myself saving Christmas alongside Edward & Jill, facing the Grumps, opening the advent calendar & trying those delicious sounding chocolates, biscuits & sweets....for those who haven't read the book, the chocolates were meals; spaghetti bolognese, fish, chips, lasagne, pizza, cheese on toast to name but a few. The biscuits trifle, cheesecake, spotted dick & jam Roly poly, whilst Goody Gumdrops were lemonade, tea, milkshakes & more.

Very well written, cleverly thought out, with an amazing storyline, I would highly recommend this book to everyone whatever your age.

Many thanks to the author for my gifted copy.

I was seriously impressed by this book. It's like an Advent calendar but with a whole story inside. And it's perfect for the holiday season because you can read a chapter every day leading up to Christmas.

The story is about a boy called Edward who lost his love for Christmas, and his sister Jill who goes on this crazy adventure to bring it back. They use an enchanted Advent calendar game and have to fight against a meanie called General Grump and his posse of grumps to save Christmas. Oh, and the illustrations are awesome, all weird and fun that kids will go nuts over. Highly recommend it for anyone looking for a festive read.

Christmas grumps be gone.

This whimsical tale ushers readers into a magical kingdom where a boy who's lost his Christmas spirit must triumph in a high-stakes Advent calendar game. Peppered with eccentric characters like the hapless General Grump, it brims with cozy holiday mirth. While light on complexity, Stevenson ingeniously incorporates interactive online elements to fully immerse children. The sheer inventiveness and campy wit make this a true festive romp the whole family can cherish. Despite illustrations that leave someone unfulfilled, the delightfully offbeat adventure bursts with yuletide magic.

My daughter and I have thoroughly enjoyed reading this book together. It combines festive cheer, adventure, mystery and more than a touch of magic! My nine year old daughter was hooked immediately. The vocabulary is extensive, and she has certainly learnt without realising it! The story is refreshingly unique and detailed, and we were sad when the book came to an end. That said, it's a book we will certainly re-read next Christmas! I highly recommend this to anyone with children under 11 years - though as an adult I also enjoyed it immensely!

This should be a film!

I enjoyed reading this book so much. Every page was filling my heart with warmth and Christmas spirit. The characters are all amazing. Their action-packed adventures kept me up late at night. I wasn't able to put the book down. And the ending made me cry. I did not expect the twist at the end. I literally cried my eyes out.

The descriptions provide a really immersive experience. Whenever I opened the book, I was fully there, in that world, with Jill and Edward. I was in the snowball fight and on the sleigh ride. I was at Teddy’s picnic. And I was a kid again.

This is a beautifully written book that I would recommend as a family read. It’s great for both children and adults.

And it definitely needs to be a film! In has great potential!
